    Happy hour on the roof
    Jessica W.

Tried out this restaurant located in the new Hotel Katerina. Turns out, Sunday's a slow night for them but that didn't affect the food or service. The place is super cute plus there's a cute rooftop bar with happy hour/small plates menus. Cocktail selection is broad, with lots of variations and one punny name - Katerina Wine Mixer. They also have a selection of NA beers and offered to make a mocktail if I wanted one. Settled for a ginger beer with lime. Leo was a great server, offering suggestions and checking in at appropriate intervals. The meal starts off with a mini skillet of fresh baked cornbread and 3 butters. Cornbread was slightly crumbly but had real corn kernels in it. The butters were a maple pecan, salted honey, and blue cheese jalapeño. Tonight the hubs started with arancini balls which were flavorful although the rice was slightly undercooked. He had the sweet heat chicken sando...the hot honey was a nice touch and the homemade chips it came with were crispy with the perfect amount of salt. I ordered the scallop risotto since scallops are one of my favorite foods. It was impressive. The risotto was perfectly done. Dessert was offered, and I did peruse the menu. I was just too full to eat anything else. Love this farm to table concept...felt like I was in a different city than Chico.

A promising new restaurant and hotel with charm, great service, and character Rancher's Daughter, located in the newly opened Hotel Katerina in Chico, CA, is off to a strong start and shows a lot of potential. The ambiance is upscale-casual with a warm, welcoming vibe, and the people truly go out of their way to make you feel at home. Highlights: * The food was very good overall, though they were out of a few menu items during my visit--including the filet--which was a bit of a letdown. Still, what was available was prepared well and flavorful. * Service was friendly and attentive, though a bit on the slow side, likely due to the team still ramping up and fine-tuning operations. * The sports bar behind the lobby deserves a shoutout--especially Franco, our bartender. Great guy, working solo to cover the entire first floor, including the restaurant. He was hustling all night and still managed to keep his cool and stay friendly. We even have a running bet that Franco can't sell a hotel room--so if you've had a few too many, strike up a conversation and see if he proves us wrong! * The upstairs bar also had a great vibe--more relaxed, with excellent drinks and a cozy atmosphere. * The hotel room was clean, very comfortable, and well-appointed--ideal for a short stay or weekend escape. All in all, a great addition to Chico's dining and hospitality scene. Some growing pains, sure--but the people, vibe, and food make it easy to recommend. I'll definitely be back!

a restaurant inside a higher end (for Chico) hotel. we ate brunch inside the ground level dining room; they also offer full menu on their outdoor / rooftop patio with a full bar, perfect when the weather and temperature are right, especially at sunset. service was solid on our maiden visit, big floor to ceiling window wall added a nice touch. the food... we pastrami hash came highly recommended as a signature dish; sadly it was highly overrated. I would've liked the meat to potato ratio to be 2:1, and the pastrami chunked, not shredded, and the potato's shouldn't be "home fries" -- they should be cubed and smaller (just my opinion); the warm house-made pickles don't work, and I am a pickle lover and lover of pickled anything. not terrible, but the two people in my party that ordered the hash said they will choose something else next time. {if people truly love the hash the way it is currently made, then rock on!} I had the Cobb salad and it was luscious... maybe hit the blackened chicken a little harder with that rub! my uncle got the omelette and loved it, would order it again; mom got the French toast -- she said great flavors but a little mushy in the middle. all in all, a positive experience and I'm sure this place will only get better; these are the opinions of just myself and my family, and we unanimously agree that the Rancher's Daughter will improve as they see fit! we applaud their ideas and can't wait to try their non-brunch menu, especially dinner... and all the specialty cocktails we saw going past us during brunch looked enticing. can't wait to come back and upgrade this joint to five stars! we $upport YOU!

Stopped in for a friend's birthday on 8/11/25. The ambiance is fantastic! Very cute decor and everything is clean. The staff was very friendly and the service was good, especially for a new establishment. We went for brunch, and the food was good, not great. I'll give them leeway for being new. Pretty basic brunch fare. Their eggs Benedict is served on really delicious biscuits that weren't dry at all! However, the side of bacon was advertised as thick cut, and it was pretty thin. The cocktails were the real star. Decent pour, great flavor, incredible presentation. I'll definitely be back.

The food wasn't great. The chicken was pretty bland. Thankfully my burger was okay. The waitress didn't bring out our complimentary bread, I had to ask for it. It wasn't busy so we didn't understand why. Overall, we weren't very satisfied and likely won't return. Darn! We tried....

The BEST service, delicious cocktails and good wings!! Had a little staycation with my husband and was very impressed!

Service was fantastic, staff was incredibly friendly and brought our drinks to us outside. I had meant for this to be a pit stop for coffee but the outdoor patio was so nice, we ended up sitting in the shade with the pups and taking our time before our looong drive back to SoCal. Black coffee. The beans were from Kenya, which is not my partner's bean country of choice but he said the coffee was good anyway. Oat milk latte. My incredibly particular mom said this was the best latte she's ever had. Dad and I were shook. Iced cinnabon oat milk latte. Surprisingly balanced. Cinnamon forward, which I like, but not overbearing. Lighter on the maple flavor, which I'm grateful for, as maple can get real heavy, real quick for me. Carrot zucchini bread. This was slightly flour-y to my palette, but overall, not bad. Moist, and not too sweet.

We asked for a table outside because she can't hear well, and the cafe was bustling and loud. The staff seated us, but had to move tables around outside. The hostess and a "regular" of the cafe said things like "this is what we do in a tourist economy." "We have to accommodate the tourists." As if we were a bother and they were bending over backward to accommodate us. Because my mother in law was there, and she is emotionally raw right now, I avoided conflict. So I'll say now, what I wanted to say to those snarky, rude employees Thursday: My husband's family has had a plot in the Taylorsville cemetery for longer than those two ladies been alive -- combined. His grandmother had 2 restaurants in Greenville. His mother is a fixture in the community, living through the Dixie fire and coming back to rebuild her life. Now she'll bury her husband there. My sister and brother in law worked in public service in Quincy for decades. We aren't tourists. And even if we were, you were incredibly unwelcoming. You made a sad day worse. The food was fine.

Might be difficult to navigate for those with mobility issues, though. It seems to be a popular spot with both young and old patrons. There's an area at the back with what looked like art supplies and things to keep folks entertained. Parking is semi-tight right outside but it's doable even with a midsize SUV. I got there around noon on a Wednesday and it was a little busy but I was the only one in line for about 5 minutes before I ordered and while I ordered. It took a little longer than I expected to get the wrap I ordered, but I didn't mind. The Smokin' Veggie wrap was VERY good, especially when I added some hot sauce (they have several options by the water station at the back)! And it was a great portion, too! I only ate half there and ate the other half later for a late lunch part 2. I had hoped to get a pastry, but I was a bit disappointed with the pastry selection -- it seemed to mostly be muffins and croissants from Costco and Safeway or something. I didn't get a drink this time, but maybe next time. But the wrap was delish! Thanks!

I scoured the menu and was excited to find so many hash choices. I was moved by the Irish Burrito, but ordered Linda's omelette; while my daughter went with the eggs Benedict. In a town that takes its breakfast seriously, and where I've probably worked my way through more menus and reviews than I should admit, this one quietly climbed right to the top of my list. My omelette was exactly what you want when you order one. Fluffy without being dry, full of flavor without trying too hard, and cooked like someone in the kitchen actually cares about eggs. The ingredients were balanced and fresh, not just thrown together as filler. The hollandaise sauce was original, I couldn't find a lemon, cheese or any other overwhelming base, it stood out. The hash was perfect. My daughter's eggs Benedict looked like a postcard version of what that dish should be. Perfectly poached eggs, rich hollandaise that didn't feel heavy, and ham that actually tasted like ham instead of just salt delivery. One of those plates where you steal a bite "just to try it" and immediately understand the decision. The real surprise for me was the potato pancake I picked instead of the usual hashbrowns. Light, airy inside, crispy outside, and seasoned just right. Honestly one of the better breakfast potatoes I've had anywhere. If potatoes had a hall of fame, this one would at least get a nomination. The place itself has a warm, comfortable feel. Wood tones, rooster themes everywhere, a relaxed local energy where people look like regulars and first-timers feel welcome anyway. Service was friendly and efficient without feeling rushed. In a city full of strong breakfast spots, this might actually be my current favorite. That's not something I say lightly.
