I was visiting my wife in Redding and she took me to the Ranch House restaurant. She had been there before and talked about how great the food was. It did not disappoint, we started with a salad, great, then we had the Hamburger, it was truly delicious, every bite was a great taste experience. We could taste a little char, the caramelized onions, the cheese. The garlic battered fries were also amazing. All the ingredients were provided locally. We went back two days later for the ribeye steak. It has no sauce and minimal seasoning, just great meat, it was delicious, one of the best steaks I've had. Our first time there since they opened and we were impressed! The interior transformation is beautiful. We were greeted right away, we're immediately seated and our server came right over with waters, menus and explained the menu choices. He was amazing! Very professional and helpful. While the menu isn't big, the choices they offer are well thought out with much care given to each dish. We ordered chicken cordon blue and the ranch burger. Both dishes were excellent and the hamburger was the best burger we've had in a long time! We stumbled upon the Ranch House after viewing the car show on early Friday afternoon at the OK Corral about two weeks ago. First it was very quiet, but with the car show going on it makes sense. We were meet with a very friendly staff member Shane and we conversated a bit, mainly on how long this restaurant has been open, then discussed the food, my favorite part. My parents and I were openly surprised at how good the food was concerning the blue cooked Wagyu hamburger and sweet potato fries that were exceptional and I had the Ruben sandwich which was fantastic and onion rings were super good too. The chef definitely knows his way around the kitchen...we are definitely going back to try dinner entries such as the Cajun shrimp pasta or the 16 oz. ribeye steak cooked blue! We ordered the Steak Sandwich and a Club Sandwich for lunch. Tender, perfectly cooked steak with caramelized onions on Sourdough was "marvelous" per Dave. My Club Sandwich was a gourmet combination of Roast Turkey with Prosciutto, I added American cheese, and lettuce and tomato on fantastic bread, with a delicious mayo that complimented the ingredients. So good I will be ordering it again! Portions were generous, the Garden Salad had a Pear Vinaigrette dressing, and my sweet potato fries were awesomely cooked to sweet, delicious and hot greatness. Highly recommend this understated restaurant with attentive staff and a welcoming atmosphere! They serve beer and wine as well. We ate at Ranch House tonight. It was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! The owner has been a local chef in Shasta County for years, I recognized his food when I had the Chicken Marsala the first night. Tonight I had the catch of the day Fish and Chips. The Cod was cooked perfectly, and the fries were just as good. Which paired perfectly with Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale. My husband had the Farmers Chicken with potatoes and Marsala sauce. And for dessert we brought home creme brulee, its something special my husband have gotten on our anniversary for the past 13 years. They had LAVENDAR Creme Brulee! It's easy & convenient. Go up to the counter place your order, pay then find a place to sit & wait until your order is brought o your table. It's not fast food so don't expect to order & pay & get your food in less than 5 minutes. I've never had to wait an unreasonable amount of time. I like the burgers. Haven't really strayed from that so only can really say that the burgers are always cooked as I order them & while it may not be the best burger I've ever had in my life, it is a good burger & the fries & service has always been better than you might expect considering it's almost a self serve type setup. Ordered a ribeye but received something not even close to it. Hell, might've even been a sirloin! Tough with no ribeye cap. Asked the waitress what kind of steak I received. She asked "What kind of steak did you order?" I responded "Ribeye". She glanced at the ticket and said that it was in fact a ribeye. My order also came with two sides--I replaced one but the other never showed up. When I asked about it, she simply said they were out and did not offer a substitute or compensation of any kind. I can live with the side issue, however nobody wants to spend $50 on a ribeye and receive a rather questionable cut. Save yourself the time, money, and disappointment. We had dinner around 5-5:30 and My husband, my dad and I got in the door at home around 6:30-7 and literally the three of us felt incredibly drowsy. It was not normal. Wonderful burger!! Cooked to perfection at medium. Added the grilled onions and subbed a salad for the fried. Took my husband a while to talk me into trying it, as I am crazy about the Arugula salad, but I'm glad I did. The service is great too. Sean was our server and he very attentive without be obtrusive. Ranch House in Cottonwood It wasn't bad but didn't blow our door off. Attentive service. We had calamari for the appetizer. Light breading and the Cajun sauce was amazing. I'd go back just for that. I got the burger. Mistake. It was cooked perfectly medium just as I asked but the sauce what ever that might have been was not appetizing to me so I didn't eat it. We brought it home for Beau to have later. Very good fries. He had the ribeye with fingerlings and broccolini. It was super good. Not the best cut (kinda gristly) but cooked and seasoned correctly. We'll go back but this is California so we like ranch dressing and they don't serve it. Good experience though. $90 with heavy tip for good service so it's affordable. Next time I'm trying the pasta or getting a steak. The burger was a huge disappointment. read more

We ordered a medium cooked hamburger and a shrimp fettuccine style dish. First the place was a nice. The staff seemed a little confused but it was busy. We received our food. The hamburger meat was way under cooked. It was very raw. Cooked way too fast. However they did replace it with a correctly cooked burger. Then there was the shrimp fettuccine style dish it was a large portion. It looked good. The sauce was good. However the noodles were all like stuck together as if they sat in a pan way too long before trying to mix it with the sauce. In fact the sauce pretty much laid on top and bottom of the noodles. The shrimp they provided a good quantity however they did not taste as fresh as you would had liked. I feel for the prices they charge the food should be on a much greater level. read more

We drove from Redding to Ranch House due to an invitation from friends who live in the area. We were surprised by the service and quality of food at our dinner. We started with calamari & garlic fries, both delicious. My husband had the wagyu burger, which was done to his liking. I had the airline chicken which was tender with perfectly crispy fingerling potatoes. My friend had the pasta of the day which was rigatoni with Italian sausage & that was excellent too. Our server was very attentive & they will have a full bar in the near future. I think the ambiance had a casual feel as opposed to fine dining and the prices were very reasonable. I would like to go back and try the rib eye or chicken pesto pasta. I hope the restaurant does well & would highly recommend this place read more

A guest and I ate here the week before Thanksgiving. Delicious food and great service. We decided to make reservations for Thanksgiving. The plate of Thanksgiving food was piled full of turkey, ham, green beans, fresh mashed potatoes, stuffing and even a tiny tub of the best tasting cranberry sauce. My guests stuffing was a bit burnt and the dinner rolls were cold. We had to ask for butter for the rolls which wasn't a big deal. Possibly opening week jitters? I heard their dishwasher malfunctioned pretty much after we were served. I was a bit taken aback when they told us we could take our leftovers home like it was a special offer made, I mean what's special about that? It wasn't a buffet. Anyway, Servers were very polite and professional. The restaurant wasn't very crowded while we were there (2:00 pm) hopefully they would have a good service closer to dinner time. I would love to see this place grow and succeed maybe they could have a little better ambience like a few well placed plants or maybe table covers? All in all, I truly enjoyed the meal. In this past week I have eaten there three times. A week ago, Friday, I went there with my daughter, her husband and my granddaughter and her husband. Service was outstanding. I had the catch of the day, which was Halibut, my daughter had the "Farmers Chicken" and her husband had the hamburger. My granddaughter had the "New York Steak", her husband had the "Bison Meat Loaf". Our choices were outstanding. Prices are a little on the high side, but worth it. I had been wanting to go back and try their "Ribeye Steak", but just having Thanksgiving, I had a lot of leftover Turkey. So I had leftover Turkey all week and by Friday I had enough leftover Turkey. So I choose to go back and have my "Ribeye Steak". The presentation was not the best as the steak was laid over the potatoes and the green beans were scattered around the plate. But this did not affect the quality or the flavor of my dish. I did take a picture of my plate as served and another showing what I felt was a better presentation of my dinner. I did show my pictures to one of the owners and explained that a proper presentation would make people enjoy their meal. The steak and potatoes were very tasty, no matter how they were presented. Then came time to make a decision about a to go box and have dessert or finish my meal and have no dessert. I chose to finish my dinner and forget the dessert. Dessert was "Bread Pudding" or "Creambrule. I sat there eating my steak and finally called my waiter and said "Bring me a To go box and the "Bread Pudding". Best choice I had made all week. The Bread Pudding was served hot with a caramel sauce and was probably the best Bread Pudding I have ever had. OK it's now Saturday and I had friends drop in for the weekend and we decided to go out for dinner, so I call for reservations and and could not get a reservation until 6:45, as they had a large group and they all had steak. So this took care of having a steak, so we went for something else. I had the Farmers Chicken and my friends had the Hamburger. We had an enjoyable evening together and the staff was very apologetic and took very special care of us and we enjoyed our evening. Recommendation, call early for you reservation as they have only been open for three weeks and are learning, but they are doing a great job and deserve our support and patience. Good Job Ranch House. First time there...and first of all, there is a ramp from the street to the restaurant. Much appreciated! I didn't see the restroom but hopefully it's ADA compliant. I ordered the garlic fries. They were good (!) and I suggested they be crispier. They weren't crispy by any stretch of the imagination. I'm going back there FOR SURE! I thought when you went to a restaurant, it's what the customer asked for, and the customer is always right, I wanted a medium steak. They only came one way, rare!! I do not like rare steak, and it wasn't even warm, then, french fries, you don't even get ketchup to dip them in, save my ranch from my salad for my fries it was ridiculous!! And doesn't even know what salt and pepper is, grew up in this area, all my life and you can use sauces for a steak, no sauces whatsoever, this place is ridiculous!! I tell you what TV Food Network even gives you condiments for fries and steak, so I don't know what the Hells up with this place but it's just ridiculous!!
