Good was very good, especially the loaded potato. Service great. Expect a longer than usual wait time (bar serves great drinks...but, expensive for the general population). Seems that the wait time around the 5-6 times the busiest. We will be back soon. Could use some sound insulation but that would ruin the ambiance. Loud conversations. read more

Stopped in for dinner during our one night in Red Bluff as we travel through on a national parks trip. It's a cool spot with wood paneling and whiskey decor and the entire experience was top notch. The is a classic old school steakhouse. Portions are large, staff were friendly, and food service was prompt and delicious. I had been craving a Cobb Salad and the GB Steak Cobb delivered. My husband could not be happier with his Prime Rib dinner. The Steamer Clams, Italian Wedding Soup Wedge Salad and Baked Peach were also delicious. We had a very frustrating experience at The Green Barn. For a place that serves alcohol, it was shocking that the staff did not even know what whiskeys or other drinks were available. Trying to order a simple drink turned into three rounds of guessing, only to find out they did not have what was listed. It should not be that difficult to get a straight answer about what is actually in stock. On top of that, a large portion of the menu was not available during what should have been a full dinner service. It felt like half the items we asked about were unavailable, which made the entire experience frustrating and limited. The service only made things worse. The waitstaff were inattentive, dismissive, and at times outright rude. It felt like we were inconveniencing them just by being there. Overall, between the lack of product knowledge, missing menu items, and poor service, this was a very disappointing visit. I would not recommend it and will not be returning. Would rate at a lower start if possible. read more

Went as a small group and they made accommodations without a reservation which was amazing. Our host and server were both very friendly! The drinks and apps were out of this world. But that's where I would stop. Out of the five of us at the table, no one ate their meal. I did eat part of the baked potato. Bourbon tips......so fatty and greasy they literally dripped. The meatloaf, hard as a rock and tasted like the chef dropped the whole pepper mill in the mix. The salmon was raw..... Again, the apps were amazing. If you go, try the artichoke dip and house bread. But order pizza for dinner and save yourself $50 on mediocre food. read more

I was so looking forward to dinner here. It was a birthday dinner for my husband, and I made sure to tell the hostess. Nope they forgot. My prime rib was so grizzly and fatty. My husbands filet was meh. The lobster tail steak topper was mushy and raw. We had to send it back, but they did fix it. The ambience in the restaurant was nice, nice bar area prices are decent, but we won't be back. Note: we did read a lot of good reviews before deciding on this restaurant. read more

This was a good find on our way back from a summit hike in Lassen. The food was quick and well made. Steaks were all cooked to the temps that we requested and service was spot on! The restaurant itself was very clean and well maintained. Would highly recommend this as a stop after a day on the trail. read more

My wife and I ate at the Green Barn-Whiskey Kitchen a few nights ago. What a great experience. The atmosphere was calm and inviting. Our waitress was so very polite. She was in no hurry to take our orders. I had a question about the menu and she said, ask me what you want and we will make it happen. Wow! I have never heard that before. I am picky about restaurants and the service and food. I should be a food credick. I could say that was the best dinner out I have had in many years. I look at dinning out as an experience. The steaks here are the best i've ever had the filet mignon was juicy and cooked to perfection. We didn't order any appetizers but and our food still had a bit of a wait but it was definitely worth it. Just moved to town a week ago and was exited to be invited here for lunch for my brother in laws birthday. The waitress was very nice, however it was not a great experience for me at all. I ordered the steak sandwich which the menu said was open face. This was what I wanted and expected. It came as a sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles. It had no cheese. I said to her this is not what the menu says and she giggled and said I know I don't know why it says that but this is how we make it. So why didn't she say that when I ordered it? Also the meat was sooo tough I couldn't even eat it. I pushed the uneaten sandwich aside which ANY waitress worth her wage would have asked if it was not ok. She purposely ignored it then brought a to go box. Well that steak went right into the trash! My husband and I had planned to come here for dinner sometime since I love steak and we now live close by, but after trying to eat that tough uneatable steak and almost pulling my teeth out, I have decided not to EVER go to this restaurant again. If that is the quality of their steaks no thank you!! And the waitress ignoring the fact that I wasn't eating the food and not asking about it bothered me too. Went for lunch, great food, waitresses real busy, but good meal. Made reservations for friday night for dinner. Showed up on time and noticed others with reservations waiting and people without being seated. Questioned hostess she replied that for ever reservation she seats she seats one walkin group. Why bother with reservations. Once we were seated it took awhile for service. Wife had prime rib that definitely wasn't prime, tough chewy grisly. The food did not make up for the poor experience, and issues that should have been addressed by staff were either ignored or handled poorly. We rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was bad enough to warrant one. Given the restaurant's reputation, we expected far better. Oh my gosh, we were promptly seated, and the waitress was ready to assist us. Top shelf, spirits, and the best food I've ever tasted.

We waited 44 minutes after placing our appetizer order for our food. The server told us they only have one chef working, why would you do that on a Saturday? The food was ok, not worth the wait and not worth $20 a plate. My husband and I just stopped here for lunch as we had a gift certificate. We had not been here for years and had pretty low expectations. We were greeted by a friendly waitress quickly and I ordered a cowboy mule along with a mushroom burger and the hubby ordered the prime rib sandwich. Dinner menu doesn't say that it starts later, but it's not available until 4:30 pm on Saturdays. Pleasant atmosphere, good quaint feel, dining room was clean and well lit. Hostess was polite and friendly, sat us right away and waitress was energetic and engaging. Ordered $170 food for two people, including a bottle of wine and two more premium steak cuts. The appetizer cheese bread bowl was good in theory but execution was pretty off. Unmelted cheese in the center with cold garlic butter, and crispy almost burned cheese on the top like someone just took a torch to the top of it without actually warming the bread properly - and yet it takes 15 minutes to make. The steak fries left much to be desired, dry and flavorless. The loaded mashed potatoes were good but the portion was very small. The soup of the day tasted like leftovers from lunch, decent flavor broccoli cheddar, but the broth was broken with oil pooling on top and almost no pieces of broccoli again- very small portion which is fine if it was a premium bowl with a few chunks of broccoli and a cheese broth that held together. Bread was not served until we were done with our dinners which was a little disappointing. Filet mignon was half gristle, took it home for the dog. Ordered medium and at best got medium-well to well done. At the very center of the steak cut open there was a hint of pinkish meat left. The rest was pretty flavorless, tough, chewy and just not great quality. Husband ordered the farmers ribeye and again quality and flavor were lacking and the meat was way overdone. It felt like it was a nice little local place, but that the chef and the kitchen didn't really know what they were doing. If you want it done right, drive the extra hour down to Farwood in Orland and you'll get the same classy vibe with food that will make you dream about going back. Have always had good food and service here, so when my children were visiting for Christmas, I called to make sure they were open on Sunday when we wanted to go out for dinner. I was told they were, but there were not enough of us to qualify for a reservation. We got there. The neon sign in the window said "open", but they were locked up tighter than a drum. Really had a disappointing lunch today. Apparently there was only one waitress/bartender working. Very long wait to get our menus and again to order. I had to go and find her in the bar to pay our bill so my wife could get back to work. We had the special fish & chips with clam chowder. The chowder was delicious but should have been hotter. Came here as a party of 8 on a Saturday night. The waitress Teriszah did the best she could but the food was not up to snuff tonight. The kitchen had to re-fire my in-laws calamari because it wasn't up to standard, it took over 20 mins and my in laws ended up cancelling the order instead. The scallops were bland. Someone's baked potato came out cold. My chicken sandwich, the chicken probably covered only half the bread and the bacon was raw. My side Caesar was very overdressed and the lettuce was wilted and not cold. Overall, the food was very meh. On the bright side my husbands prime rib was excellent and we enjoyed the appetizers - whiskey cheese bread and cheese curds were good. But for the price, this food was honestly unacceptable and nothing was taken off the bill. Our waitress saved this place from a worse review because she was very apologetic and did send each of us home with a slice of cheesecake, which was very nice. read more

As always I am looking for good wings and fries. This place came up on my yelp search and decided to give them a try. The main entrance is on the back side not on the Main Street side. If you do enter through the Main Street side you'll have to pass through the bar to get the hostess to be seated. Our waitress was super polite and recommended we try the cheese curds. Which we did. They are little mozza pieces. Yummmm of course I had to dip them in ranch. I ordered their hot wings and fries. The fries are like beer battered fries with a nice touch of seasoning. I wish I had taken a pic of my wings and fries. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for great wings and fries. read more

We were staying one night in Red Bluff at the local KOA campground because we were too tired to continue driving after 9 hours on the road. We had no interest in cooking, so we yelped and found this place. I was a bit skeptical, since I grew up in Chico and Red Bluff was always very rural and couldn't possibly have a decent restaurant. But, hey, it is 2021, anything is possible. The interior is really nice. They have definitely put time and money into making this a warm, rustic modern restaurant with a focus on whiskey. We waited for about 35 minutes and were seated in a booth. Our server was a perky attentive young lady who did a great job checking in on us regularly. We were starving from our day on the road, so we instantly ordered appetizers. I got the panko fried artichoke hearts and he got prawn cocktail. Both were outstanding. We were impressed! We both ordered lobster tails for dinner. I got mashed potatoes as my side and he got fries. While it took a while for the order to come, we once it arrived, it was cooked right and the mashed potatoes were delicious. Since our dinner took a long time to come out, the owner, who was seated behind us, bought us a dessert. We got the chocolate torte, which was really good. Would I come back? Yes. Absolutely. On the positive: welcomed and sat within 5 minutes We were there at 5 pm and only 1 other table of 4 there but multiple people at the bar. Ordered drinks and only one was drinkable, the other just tasted like sweet and sour over ice. The appetizer-Calamari was drenched in oil, and was like eating pencil erasers! Could not even cut with the table knife! The salads were just OK but had lots of brown edged lettuce(could not eat mine, just picked out the vegetables) The bread was grilled on one side and the bottom edge was very cold(like it had been frozen Texas toast) The filet was tender and med-rare as ordered but the clump of potato was dry Service was ok, probably won't go back It was supposed to be a special birthday dinner! read more

We stopped in and had lunch this week, what a pleasant surprise. Not expecting much but getting more than expected. I ordered the special, Prime Rib sandwich with grilled onions and mushrooms and my other half ordered the Cobb Salad with Steak. The prime rib sandwich came with a choice of side, I picked the side salad, that was a meal in itself. I never touched the sandwich, took it home for dinner. The cobb salad, which came with a side of toasted bread, was beautiful and delicious! Never had to ask for refills on our water or tea. We really enjoyed our lunch and the service was great! Come to find out, the owners of Green Barn Whiskey Kitchen also own the Dibble Creek Outpost on HWY 36 west. We had our Christmas party there last year and really enjoyed ourselves. read more

Food 4 stars. Service 5 stars. I just got home from Green Barn. I have been on the road for 5 days and needed a smile, a steak and a beer. I sat down at the bar and Amanda took great care of me. She was very busy but took the time to make me feel welcome. I had the filet, salad, loaded baked potato and two Bold Rush Ales. After dinner I paid and left the restaurant.
