I am so incredibly upset, if I could give this "seamstress" a one star, I would. I took a very nice dress to Ramya/Sowmya - for the length to be shortened, the slit in the front raised up, and off-shoulder straps to be taken in. When I tried on the dress after the alterations were done, it was clear that she had completely botched the job. The slit was barely hanging in with a hole made in the fabric inside, the hem was uneven and incomplete, and the straps were reattached in the wrong places with the stitching throughout sloppy and horribly done! Plus she couldn't even match the thread color with the dress fabric. It looked like the job was done by a child (or maybe her older relative I saw hanging out by the sewing machine). In response to my concerns, she completely gaslighted me by saying: "this is how it's supposed to be!" I had to take the dress to another shop to have it fixed properly. I would strongly advise anyone needing dress alterations to steer clear of this place, if you don't want your dress to be ruined! Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else, where they actually know what they're doing. I hope she uses the money she charged me to attend a proper trade school to learn how to be a real alterations specialist, not a pretend one. read more

Sowmya is wonderful to work with. This was my second time going to her for help. I first went a few months ago with 3 pairs of pants that needed to be tighter around the bottom of my legs. She fixed all 3 to fit perfectly. This time, I bought a dress that was slightly too long and needed to be tighter in the straps. She recommended we tighten the straps and it would bring the length up just enough as to not mess the bottom up. I went with her recommendation and the dress fits so well now.
