Mechanic is not honest, was over priced for diagnostic test and didn't give me the codes for repair, and when I asked about it , John hung up on me twice, $200 for diagnostic test and an extra $850 to continue diagnostics. I did a visual inspection and found a broken hose. I got a second opinion and was told that John was trying to get more money from me. I would not take my car there again. My brakes were smoking pretty bad coming down off Generals Hwy on my family's trip to Sequoia and we were very lucky that this garage had time to inspect my brakes and make suggestions. Juan was an honest guy and told me my brakes were ok enough to get home but also gave me the option to have them replaced as well and that honesty earned him my trust. I opted to have some of the work done he suggested and he prioritized the work on my car knowing we were still traveling thru. He was quick with the work and his garage had a very nice waiting room, and was also close to some local places to eat should you need to wait longer than a couple of hours. Do not go there and absolutely never advise anyone else to go to RAMIREZ QUALITY SERVICE. I took my truck for ac repair and a noisy belt pulley. John said the cost would be $800 and he would be done within 2 hours?? When I returned John and needlessly replaced my high power alternator with a cheaper one and filled the AC reservoir with Freon. The AC compressor wasn't even working, and the pulley bearing was louder than ever. I took the truck to another shop and they replaced the pulley for $150! When I posted a bad Google review, JOHN RAMIREZ began texting threats from his business phone at 10pm and again at 3:30 am. Police report 25070437. He's a unstable person... be warned. I bought a vehicle that needed a second key fob. I bought the fob directly from Toyota and brought it to John at Ramirez for programming due to the fact that Toyota said I would have to wait 2-3 hours. It was going to cost $30 more with Ramirez, but I would save time so I thought it would be worth it. True to his word, it only took John an hour and 15 minutes (he was working on other vehicles at the time) to program the fob. The fob opened the doors, trunk, etc. so I didn't think much of it. I drove the car home using the original fob that was provided when I purchased the car. The next morning my wife went to drive the car using the new fob and it would start and run for thirty seconds and then shut off. I tried it several times and it wouldn't work. I tried my original fob and it worked fine. I called John and he said he didn't know what to tell me, it worked fine on the trunk, doors, and security light. He hadn't tried to start the car. I asked him if he could try to reprogram the fob and he said yes but he would have to charge me another $229.00 to do it. IHe said the only thing it could be is a defective key fob. That didn't seem very likely to me. I asked him for a refund, but he said no because I had signed one of his disclaimers saying if for some reason the programming didn't work, they aren't liable. I ended up taking the same fob he said was defective to Toyota of Visalia. They programmed it in 1 hour and twenty minutes for $30.00 less than Ramirez and it works perfectly! They said if they were me, they would go back and the money back. I tried to work with John, but to no avail. I would be very cautious if using this business! I was never given any explanation as to why the "defective key fob" was able to be programmed successfully by Toyota. When I told John about his possible programming protocol errors, all he could say was "Oh". The reason it took a little over a week to contact John about the problem was a previously arranged vacation that we took. As was mentioned earlier, no explanation as to why the same fob works perfectly. read more

These people are crooks. I've never had such a terrible experience at an auto shop in my entire life. They charged me an extra $250 storage fee because I was unable to pick up my vehicle within 1 hour of completion. Here's my story. (Pics included) I dropped off my Ford Escape to get diagnosed for a possible hybrid battery failure. They called me at 5pm on Friday to let me know that I will be needing a new regular battery as well and that it would be $200 before they could do any further diagnostics. I informed them that my battery was less than a year old and that I could just go swap it out for a new one for free at O'Reilly. They told me that this was unacceptable and that I would HAVE to buy their battery. I understand that some shops don't let you bring your own parts so I was just going to pay the diagnostic fee and be on my way. My point of contact, John, seemed very upset about my decision. By this time it was 6PM and they closed at 7PM. I told them I wouldn't be able to make it in by 7pm because of the short notice but that I would be able to swing by in the morning. They informed me that they are closed Sat, Sun & Mon but that they will re-open on Tuesday. So basically, if I don't get there within an hour, I'll have to leave it until Tuesday. This wasn't a problem until I got there on Tuesday and they tacked on a $250 storage fee that they refused to remove. They wouldn't even let me talk to a manager....nothing. They would not release the vehicle to me unless in full. In a nutshell, my service was completed at 6PM on Friday and because I did not pick it up by 7pm (1 hour) I was charged an extra $250. On top of all this, I paid to get towed in & out. Miserable. John informed me that this is standard practice and that they do it all the time, which makes me wonder how many people like myself have been hit with fraudulent storage fees by this mechanic shop. I will be filing a civil suit and most importantly an investigation to see how many others have been affected by this malpractice. Beware of Ramirez Quality Services. read more

I took my RAV4 in for a brake check with John Ramirez because it was coming up for the 50K mile mark. I know that we are all squeezed with the cost of living today and any extra expenses are hard to deal with but I also know I have to keep my car in good shape for as long as I can. So instead of going to the dealership, I went to John. This way I get to talk directly to the mechanic. I believe John is an honest man. He could have told me that since the pads showed wear, that I should have a costly brake job done. But he showed me the brake fluid was mid-mark and showed me the pads and suggested I wait another 10K miles. That tells me he gave me an honest and fair assessment and I recommend him due to this honest experience. read more
