The guys at this front desk here were so friendly and helpful to my son and me. They could have taken advantage and charged us large sums of money to fix up an old Jaguar that my son had purchased-but they were up front with us about long term costs and did there best to help us out if a sticky situation. They were also willing to hold the car a few days for us to make arrangements to get it picked up and even helped get the stereo out of the car for my son free of charge. I really appreciate all their help and will definitely be taking my other cars to them for service. So I haven't taken my cars back since my last review because the quoted I got from these guys ended up being pretty pricey and for work that didn't necessarily need to be done. I still appreciate the guys at the front desk but can't afford to take my cars here. read more

We had either a bearing or sensor overheating on our trailer on our way to Sequoia National Park. We made an appointment with DS for on our way home. This was the cleanest auto repair shop we've ever seen! The owner greeted us, did everything he could to make us comfortable and welcome, as did the staff. Jeremy ordered a new seal and received it and replaced it in under 2 and a half hours, all with a smile and thorough explanation. I took my car to DS Auto Experts on July 5 after coming back from vacation. On our way back from vacation, as we traveled through LA traffic my car's engine shut off and we got stuck in the fast lane as cars swerved to avoid hitting us. It was a very scary experience. I took my car in but the engine light was no longer on. When the guy at the front desk contacted me to tell me my car was ready he told me nothing was wrong with the car and it was ready to pick up. I tried to ask questions to get suggestions on what to do next but the guy continuously cut me off. Stating "m'am there's nothing we can do, the engine light is not on." I tried to explain what we experienced and why I didn't feel safe driving the car but he continued to cut me off and not let me finish my sentence. He continue to say "I am not trying to charge you more if it's saying there's nothing wrong with it." He did not understand my concerns were not about paying more, my concerns were regarding my and my child's safety. It was very frustrating having someone dismiss concerns and get defensive when I was trying to ask questions. I pickup my car and left. I called elsewhere and received helpful information and they took my concerns seriously. read more

I decided to ignore the reviews that mentioned the inspection fee because of the other excellent reviews, convenient location and how kind they were on the phone. The inspection report I received was indecipherable and seemed generic (saying things like "recommend replacement if not done already"), so I did not want them to go any further. Apparently they charge different people different amounts, but always a ridiculously high amount. For me it was $250. I took it a different mechanic who charged $80 and did not find anything wrong. Went in to get a battery exchanged..he was aware I was coming from a different area in like 20 mins..drove as fast I could got there 30 before closing just was told I could swap battery out for a pro rate and be gone..I get there, he states im late in rude loud voice. My elderly mother took her vehicle in for diagnostic services. They charged her $556 to run a "complimentary computer scan" correct me if I'm wrong but complimentary usually means free??? But because they did a full inspection on her vehicle they were charging for labor?!?! Running a scan and an inspection should not cost this much. They did absolutely nothing to her vehicle to charger labor!! You get a full inspection for free at most oil changers and diagnostic scans can be done free at an auto parts store!! My mother is an elderly woman who is on a fixed income. From other reviews it looks like this is what they do to our elderly family. Even if she consented...wouldn't these people think twice to ask for consent from an 80 year old person?!?! read more

I came in a couple months ago and I really just can't get over the fact that they ripped me off, so I thought I'd write a review to blow off the steam. I brought my car in for a small oil leak that I knew where it was coming from. I work at a school that has an autoshop, so I had the teacher and kids look at it there first. They tightened the screw for the air filter and the teacher told me that it was probably the lube shop that didn't properly tighten it after an oil change. He told me to bring it back if the students did not tighten it enough. I had a week vacation right after that so I couldn't bring it back to the school shop when it was still leaking. I brought it over to DS as a first time customer and told them exactly where the leak was coming from, since I had it confirmed already at the school's shop. Well, the guy insisted on lifting it and doing a full undercarraige search and he brought me back and showed me all of the oil coming down and pointed to all the spots that it was probably coming from. I reminded him that I was told exactly where it was coming from, but he said they would have to do a power wash and oil dye and the charge for that was 300.00 dollars! I agreed since I was about to leave on break and he sort of put the scare in me. Well, come to find out all they needed to do was tighten the bolt some more on the air filter and that did it, no doy! They didn't charge me anymore for that, but I feel completely ripped off after telling them exactly where the leak was coming from in the first place. Any decent and honest shop would've heard me out and just tightened the bolt that I first informed them of and charged me a fair price for that. I feel completely taken advantage of and was impressed at first with the fancy waiting room and taxi home, but it seems like they are finding any means necessary to get as much money out of the customer to pay their fancy front. Don't ever use this place. Had my truck towed there to get a diagnostic and once I got there they wanted to charge me 725 bucks. They said since the truck had been worked on by my kids dad's they would have to undo everything he fixed before they could do the official diagnostic. HORRIBLE Experience...Beware of the Fake Reviews! My experience at DS Auto it was by far the worst experience I've ever had at any auto shop to date. Back in August 2020 my car started having some issues, so I called around to see if I could find a mechanic in the area that could check it out and let me know what's wrong. I called into DS Auto because they seemed to have a lot of genuine, positive reviews on Google. Big mistake! I should have checked Yelp. I ended up speaking with Moses, the rep for DS Auto and a very deceitful man to say the least. Before bringing my car in, I asked Moses how much a diagnostic for my car would cost. he told me flat out that there would be NO CHARGE for the diagnostics. this was one of the main reasons why I chose to go to this shop versus all the other shops I could have went to in Visalia. He even told me that he could secure for me a rental car for $30-35, so that I could leave my car and go run some errands for the day while he runs the diagnostic. Of course, none of this was true. After having me wait around for more than an hour (outside in the searing heat I might add), he slipped me a $135 bill for the cost of the diagnostics. Normally, I would have said "forget it" and left, but he had already had a rental coming to pick me up from the shop, so I stuck it out. After an additional 30-40 mins of waiting, the shuttle from Enterprise picks me up to get the rental vehicle, only to find out once I get there that they actually have no rental cars available, only vans for $60 and up. I couldn't believe it! Moses knew this full well before I went over there, but went through with the charade anyway. It's disgusting. I ended up having to WALK from my place to the shop (a 30min walk in 100+ degree heat!) to pick up my car. The whole thing was a complete waste of my time and money. Following the ordeal, I got a message from the owner Santos asking me how my experience at DS Auto was. I explained what happened in a thorough and courteous manner, and got absolutely no response! Avoid this shop like the plague. Not only are their services expensive overpriced, but they very disingenuous and cannot be trusted. I am thoroughly convinced that the bulk of their "positive" reviews on Google are fake and paid for. There are better shops in Visalia that you can patronize that will not jerk you around like DS Auto. Never again!!! read more

I took my car here again because my temperature gauge light went off. I ended up have to replace a whole system that took 3 days for them to do. They kept promising me different times that it would be ready... just for them to never update me or them tell they're running behind. I spend $1,100 and now my car won't start. read more

This company offers the best customer service I have ever received. Anywhere. From any company. Ever. My car broke down spectacularly in Sequoia National Park. (Side note: Why do these things always happen 350 miles away from home, in the middle of nowhere where you get NO cell phone reception??) It took 3 hours for a tow truck to arrive, and 2 hours to tow the car to Visalia, the nearest city. By the time I got into town it was close to 6, after closing time for auto repair places. I called four shops and got responses like "Oh, we'll be closed by then", "there's nothing we can do", and "good luck with that!" I called D&S and spoke to Santos, the owner. He said that the shop would be closed, but he gave me his cell number and said to call when I got into town and he would meet me at the shop. Which he did; when I finally got there, he got my car all ready to be the first thing worked on the next morning. Then he called five different hotels for me, trying to find a nice one, near restaurants, with a good price. He drove me to my hotel, pointed out good places to eat, and picked me up the next morning to bring me back to the shop. Wow. Nicest guy ever. My car was a train wreck. The mechanic called first thing in the morning to give me estimates of cost and repair time. The work was done quickly (ahead of schedule!), and the mechanics took the time to show me what was wrong, and also offered some theories on how it could have happened (one of which was faulty service by my service shop back in San Diego). Santos explained all the charges to me (which were less than he estimated), gave me a AAA discount without me asking, gave me the broken parts on my car, and coached me on what to say to my mechanics back home. Plus, they washed and vacuumed my car. Bonus! My excellent experience at D&S almost erased the agony of breaking down in a national park after 3 days of camping. It certainly would've been a 28397 times suckier experience if Santos hadn't helped me out. If I ever have need of auto repair in Visalia again (*fingers crossed that this never happens*) I will definitely come back to this place. read more

Pepe's auto is where you need to take your car. I have given this shop a lot of chances to redeem themselves. They are rude, disrespectful, dishonest, and ignorant. They treat people in bad situations horrible. They will look at you and treat you based on stereotypes. I walked in and asked if they could change out an old radiator in my 94 Camry. Immediately they interrupted me, forcing me to watch a stupid diagnostic video. They wanted to "inspect" my car before they changed my radiator. Why would I want to pay for a $450 inspection on top of the radiator replacement? In addition my cousin took his 07 Lexus in they charged him 250 for the inspection. Said it was his catalytic converters. Fixed it. Broke again as soon as he got home, and DS said that at this point my cousin should "retire" the car....??? We have been clients of D&S for years. We have always believed them to be fair and ethical but they recently proved what we thought. One of our older cars that they have been repairing developed some serious motor problems. They could have reported the needed repair and we would have never known any differently than to pay for the repair. But instead, they reported that they believed a product corroded the engine and damaged other parts as well. They replaced our engine and all the other parts with not one penny paid by us. Our car is like a new car now. We absolutely know D&S deserves the trust we have in them. read more

I took my car here for the first time to get brakes and rotors. The job they did was really good, very affordable and Moses was super friendly. My issue is that my car was driven 90 miles and when asked why, I was completely ignored. If you take your car here just make sure to take pictures of your gas and mileage. D & S saved my summer and ended my car nightmares! It's a long detailed story, the last 2 paragraphs are the most important. In December 2014, my alternator failed in my 2002 Subaru Outback. I had it towed and repaired in northern California (and bought a new battery), only to have more issues in March 2015, corrosion on my battery cables which was another tow and repair to the same shop. On May 31, 2015, I was 400 miles into a 500 miles moving trip. My alternator failed again and I was towed to a nearby shop that the tow truck driver just took me to, and my family picked me up since it was a Sunday night. Since my original repair was covered by a Napa Autocare warranty, the 2nd new alternator was covered, and I drove the remaining 100 miles to get home 2 days later. By July 11th, the 2nd new alternator was dead too! After doing some research, I decided to get the new repair at D&S, and this is where my story gets positive! After explaining the issues detail to their helpful staff (I spoke to Moises), I felt good about them looking into the issue. The following day, I received a call that the wrong alternator was installed in my car! And it likely happened twice... They replaced it with the correct alternator, replaced a battery terminal, and inspected all of the systems affected by the original error. Since this was a 2nd warranty repair within the coverage period, Napa covered this repair for me. Finally my 7 month nightmare is over! I've been driving for 2 weeks now without an issue or a single dash warning light coming on. I am very satisfied with how thorough they were with the repair, as well as their prompt service. My car was filthy when I dropped it off, and had been washed and vacuumed when I picked it up. I am very happy with their work and I will return here for repairs and maintenance in the future, and I would recommend them to my friends! :) read more

I just had the air conditioner in our 2005 Toyota Prius repaired here. Before I dropped the car off it was blowing warm air only. Now, after diagnosing the cooling system, tearing apart the entire dashboard to get to the defective parts, replacing them, and putting it all back together, our air conditioner is blowing a cool 48 degrees F. It was not an easy repair. You need a highly skilled technician for this type of repair. When you want it done right the first time, this is where you take your car. Not only that, but while I was paying for this repair, the owner himself did a real nice favor for me for free on another car I used to drive over to the shop to pay my bill for the Prius. I give this business 5 stars out of 5 for excellent customer driven service and I highly recommend them for anyone's vehicle repair needs. read more
