I dropped my car off several months back and the repaired it. A couple weeks after I picked it up they was good enough to call me and tell me that had my wheel lock. It took me a couple more weeks to get by there and pick it up and he had it in a bag for me all good. I took my car in a couple weeks ago for another repair and I did not check for my lock. I went to have new tires put on and no lock. I call to ask if they have it and he made up some bullshit story that he gave it to me when I dropped a couple weeks ago. I would give a "0" if possible. My Mini Cooper was not running properly, so I had it towed to Bavarian Autohause to be diagnosed and possibly repaired. They had my Mini for six full days (04/10-04/15) before informing me that the DME (ECU- Engine Control Unit) needed replacement for a before tax cost of about $3500. I declined the repair and was charged $330 for the diagnostic. I then sent the DME to "The ECU Pro" (4.9 out of 1500 reviews) who tested the DME and sent me the video recorded test results that showed the DME performing without any issues. I called and discussed the results with the Shop who refused to give me a refund of the diagnostic fee and denied any wrongdoing in attempting to extort nearly $4000 (diagnostic + DME replacement) out of me by claiming a DME problem existed where there was not one. Their response and attitude makes me believe their lies have had past success, and I was not the first person they tried to hornswoggle for financial gain. Without authoritative intervention, I am quite sure their fraudulent actions will continue. read more

Owner Made Veiled THREATS TO GET ME FIRED!! Absolutely completely unprofessional!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR MINI HERE!!! So when I brought my 2010 Mini Cooper S in for suddenly running very very rough I told them that I had just changed the Valve cover gasket the night before and also already checked several different things like MAF sensor. But I also informed them that it was a sudden change not something that slowly progressed to where it is now. They checked it out and said there was 2 parts that were faulty. So $1327 later they tell me that its also the timing chain and they're going to need another $1500. The parts that they replaced were original as far as I can tell and may not have been perfect however these parts had nothing at all to do with how rough the car suddenly started to drive! I will not say that those parts did not need replacement but what I can tell you is that after researching online about the Mini and finding out that this is a KNOWN common issue with Mini's so much that in fact BMW lost a major class action case for this failure and it took Bavarian Autohause $1327 of supposed diagnostics and parts to finally get to the root cause of the issue IMO is just plain INCOMPETENT!!! BUT it gets worse!!! So after talking with Bryan who actually seems like quite a nice person about how I felt about the work that was done that I felt I was getting screwed since the original estimate was like $123 for diagnosis and now after already agreeing to pay for the parts and labor of $1327 to fix the issue come to find out this is not the real problem!!! I told them put back on the old parts and fix the timing which they refused to do. So I told them that I would be posting my experience on YELP! What other options as a consumer do we have? At that point Bryan definitely did not like to hear that I was going to do that so he said they would put my car together and I could take it somewhere else! The next day I went to pick up my car and the owner came out with printouts trying to defend his techs diagnosis and procedures. He showed me a printout saying to replace this part for this code and whatnot. But when I asked him to show me the printout saying that the timing chain was the issue he could not because as a mechanic you have to figure out how far down the issue goes! IMO when they popped the Valve cover off and seen that the timing was off they should have known better then what was the real problem. If they are familiar Mini's this should have been a quick diagnosis for them instead of replacing parts that as far as I can tell were working fine but may have not been perfect. But this is when the owner took things to a completely inappropriate place. Since I had stopped by in my companies work vehicle to check on the progress of my car and get status on it the owner brought it up like it had anything to do at all with my personal vehicle. He even asked me if I was there representing my company!! He threatened to sue me for defamation and also claimed that he would name my company in it as well!! This jerk thinks that because I am a hard working American who drives around a company vehicle and am allowed to take breaks that he can threaten my livelihood because I didn't agree with how I was treated!! What does who I work for or where I work at have anything at all to do with this???!! He is just a complete moron to think its ok to even make such a threat! So after all this I seen the other posts yelp about them I would say the same I called the Custom Mini Shop in Fresno and found out they would do the job for $500 less and seem like great guys who know alot more about Minis. Also I looked into the BBB and found out that Bavarian Autohause already has an F rating!! On top of that on the BBB website also states:BBB records show a license number of 155638 for this business, issued by Bureau of Automotive Repair.The expiration date of this license is 8/31/2018. GO Figure!! I will also be reporting to them on how unprofessional the owner of this business is! So when everything was said and done I paid them $1327 and my car runs exactly the same as it did before!! BUYER BEWARE!! read more

A few comments regarding David M.'s 'review' of Bavarian...First off I am somewhat baffled as to why his 'review' of Bavarian Autohouse is all about me, if he works there or is the owner Yelp has a feature that allows him to respond to my review. Now to the issues I have with the review: 1. I was never informed of my 'howling pump' I was simply told the fluid levels were low. 2. The price I was quoted for "physically look at the inner workings of the transmission by removing the transmission oil pans and looking for improper oil level or possible broken parts in the transmission oil pans" was 656.97 THEN it was "corrected" to $762.97 after Greg got the 'correct' price for transmission fluid. I was NEVER told $714 ever, who knows maybe the $714 is another 'corrected' price change I was never informed of. 3. I have more than one issue with this statement "We did not want to tell customer they needed a transmision if we could repair it, after all MINI CVT transmissions are failing quite often." A. Bavarian never said they could repair the transmission only that they could find nothing wrong with it and suggest the $762.97 'solution' which Greg himself said had a high probability of not solving the issue at all B. The only other solution offered to me was a new transmission...So I was left with a $762 solution that per Bavarian probably wasn't going to work or a $7,000 solution of a new transmission. C. Again another thing never mention to me was the knowledge that Bavarian had of MINI CVT transmissions having a high failure rate....seems like a customer may appreciate that information. At the end of the day I stand 100% behind my review. Also, one a side note I took my MINI that Saturday to Custom Mini Shop in Fresno and they solved my transmission problem in 30 mins for $35. The knowledge, friendliness and amazing customer service was an absolute breath of fresh air. I cannot express how highly I recommend Custom MINI Shop in Fresno for any MINI owner. read more

There aren't many shops in the area that specialize in these cars (BMW, Mercedes Benz, and MINI Cooper,) not to mention that these are expensive cars that are highly engineered-- finding a good mechanic can be tough. Bavarian Autohause has THE BEST diagnostician in the world! Seriously, this guy is like the Dr. House of cars. Simply plugging in a car to a computer diagnostic tool doesn't always tell you what (if anything) is wrong, but Matt is great at tracking down those mysterious things that don't show up any other way. This place isn't cheap, and you might be able to find a lower quote at another shop, but other shops might only quote you for the lowest starting point to get you in the door or to try to lure you away from the competition. Next thing you know, you're back in the shop with more problems (and more expenses.) The mechanics at Bavarian genuinely care about the cars they work on and they take a lot of pride in their work. Taking your car to the shop is never fun and car repair and maintenance is expensive-- but I trust Bavarian Autohause to do a great job at an honest price. read more

I have an older BMW (1990) and got stuck in Visalia about one year ago. Left my car there for months till I had time to pick it up again. They replaced the ABS system with a rebuilt unit saving thousands and did some other items for me. Not everything got fixed right (the locking system on BMW's is quirky) but the main stuff works perfect. Their honest and don't mind working on the older models. I bought a used Audi that seem to be in very good condition. The car had 110,000 miles on it. Over the nine months that I had the car I had it in and out of the shop at Bavarian Auto. total cost of $9000 in repairs. Every time the engine light would come on it cost me 1000 or more. In two weeks time I spent $3000 in there shop. When I went to pick the car up on a Friday afternoon to take it out of town. I drove an eighth of a mile and the engine light was back on I turned around and drop the car back off. I talk to them Monday and they had no clue other than it had a battery issue. Finally having enough I took it and had it towed to the dealer in Fresno. They immediately told me I need to do a compression check because of the codes that were popping up. They did the compression check and found out the engine had low compression and that's what was causing my problems all along. So basically I spent $9000 on a car that needed a new $14,000 engine. Because Bavarian Auto didn't check that in the nine months I had been bringing it to them. I wouldn't bring an Audi to them that's for sure! The mechanic there has no clue what he's doing. I've always had great customer service and will only trust these guys with my precious "Miss Blueberry." Foreign cars are expensive to maintain. There's just no way around it. I'm driving a VW CC which is not a very easy car to get serviced because it's an german car and especially the model CC is quite complicated to work on . I've been looking for a good mechanic for a very long time and was always send away because no one wanted to work on my car. I had to drive all the way to Fresno VW to get my car serviced by the dealer which cost me the triple amount !!! When I walked in the office I was nicely greeted from Mr. Bryan Coffey.
