My Audi TT was due for her smog. I took it to my usual smog station only to be told that their smog computer couldn't communicate with my Audi. They sent me to a different smog station across the street where they hooked up, but couldn't communicate with my Audi. They said perhaps I had a blown fuse or needed a spark plug. They sent me down the street to Visalia Auto Hause. I explained to Sergio what had happened. He took my Audi back and was able to hook up my Audi and do her smog without any problems! From now on I'll be making Visalia Auto Hause my official mechanic and smog station. Thank you Sergio! read more

I went to this place and didn't expect the service that was provided to me, they went above and beyond to help me at the same price they gave me and my Oldsmobile 98 left with a smog certificate read more

I explained to the shop that my car overheated on my trip home to San Francisco. The shop was responsive with phone calls, accepted my tow and made it easy to park my car in their lot outside of shop hours. Neighboring business owners raved their fair and honest services, and I felt my car was left in good hands. I rented a car and drove home, returning 5 days later to pick up my car. They diagnosed and repaired the problem and suggested one preventative repair, as a result of the near overheating issue, and I appreciate the foresight. While I appreciated getting my car up and running, and the work of the mechanics appear good, the price quoted can only be described as gouging for the work performed. As a San Francisco resident, I am accustomed to high prices, but their quote, which I approved, was simply jaw dropping. I paid it, but that does not mean it was fair, I was a stranded captive audience. My local SF based mechanic quoted me 1/3 the price for the same diagnostic, parts and repairs. The price gouging ruined what could have otherwise been a good experience. read more

I LOVE Visalia Auto Hause!! I have a 15 year old VW Jetta and as you can imagine, she's been running into some problems; engine fans & modulators, brakes & rotors, automatic windows, rear main seal leak, etc! Mike makes sure (Joan Jetta) gets in and out, and fixed up for another 15 years on the road! Thank you very much! I will not go to another auto shop for my foreign cars! 10/10 highly recommend! read more

I had made a playful statement that I wasn't used to spending 107 dollars on an Oil Change and was told if "you're bargain shopping, don't come here. Bring your German car somewhere else because I am the most expensive." I had already paid for the service but wish I would have shopped around. I had a check engine light come on and asked if they could identify what it was. He came out with a laptop and a VAG-COM and said "OK, 90 dollars for me to hook this to the car to figure out what the check engine message is for. Do it?" Knowing better that this process takes less than 1 minute to receive the codes (vehicle's way of telling the computer what caused the light to come on) from the car, I declined. Other mechanics or dealerships I used to use back in IL would just hook it up, and in 20 seconds tell me "it's nothing to worry about." Anyone who knows modern day cars and their electronics know that the smallest most unimportant things can trip the check engine light now a days. In all fairness, they did a great job and were very careful with my car. I just wish they were a little less defensive with their customers about their high prices. I have no doubt I could trust them to do a major repair on my vehicle (if I'm willing to pay 2 or 3 times more than other reputable German car mechanics). For instance, asked for a quote on brakes, was told to expect around 900 dollars an end. At the dealership, I paid 600 dollars an end. How can the dealership be lower than a third party? read more

Years ago I had my Wifes 02 jetta repaired by visalia auto hause. They replaced the timing belt and water pump. The problem is their mechanic forgot to tighten the motor mount in front of the tming cover subsequently the bolts were loose and eventually broke causing the motor to drop damaging the engine block mount boss and the timing belt. It cost another 800 to get it fixed and due to the busted motor mount boss the fix was temporary with later on cost another 600 to fix. Since this happen 13 months after auto hause worked on it the warranty was invalid and auto hause refused to help us out. His reply was I should of put new bolts. Well they didnt tighten the bolts proven by a dealership so it didnt matter. I never did business with them again. In fact if it wasnt for threat of loosing my job I would have given them education on public relations. read more

If you're on the 5 between L.A. and S.F. and things get dicey, take the detour to Visalia. I had just done a timing belt change on my '03 VW Jetta TDI. I thought it was fine. Foolishly, the next day I went from L.A. to Palo Alto. Going up the Grapevine the car surged a couple times. A few minutes later it started smoking to where I could see it in the mirror at 70 mph. IN general, the car was weak. Oh dear. At the bottom of the Grapevine (feedlot land) a stop at a service station showed nothing. We decided to find a VW place in Visalia, as that was the closest town. Pulled into VAH, walked in and there stood Darrel Tresidder. My visions of highway robbery were soon gone. He is a fine VW/Audi mechanic who does exemplary work. Yes, the $90 Vag-Com charge is high, but I was in the boonies, and did NOT argue. Over the next 2 hours I told him all that I had done w/ the timing belt job, advised him of various details on my work, etc. He cleaned out one air filter I did not know, checked a few things, then took a look underneath. "Oh, I see your problem." As modern cars are rolling computers w/ sensors everywhere, one must be diligent in assembling things perfectly. I had re-assembled some turbo hoses just a tiny fraction off, or a clamp was not PERFECTLY placed. He righted these, the 'check engine' light went off, the power was back, we went for a test drive just to see how it was, I paid $190 (gladly) and we were off to Palo Alto once again. And they don't throw a fit when a customer (and his dog) stand w/ them in the garage. IT's a real shop, not a corporate repair facility w/ yellow lines all around. read more

This guy is ok. He has his routine down. He explains everything to where he doesn't lead you on but is expensive

I a VERY happy with the service I got from Darrell at VAH. I recently bought a 1979 VW bus from a friend. It had been in an accident and out of operation for over a year. I knew it had a lot of work to be done. Darrell was extremely helpful and full of knowledge about VWs. He was very thorough and explained everything to me before and after. I know that my bus is going to be a work in progress, but Darrell is my VW guy. I trust him completely. I think his prices were extremely fair, especially considering the mountain of work I needed to have done! read more

I have had several vehicles worked on throughout the years at this shop. It is one of the best I've ever gone to--period! And I've had many friends who have gone or currently go here. Some reviewers mention it being "expensive." It's about equal to a dealership but with faster turnaround times and much more personal and friendly service. As the saying goes, you generally get what you pay for! I have never had a problem with them and will go here as long as I have the type of vehicles they specialize in--VW,Audi, Porsche. They are VERY good at not recommending work that is not needed. And this is a mark of honesty that is often lacking at many shops. read more

My friend brought her car here and they said they fixed it and charged her almost $400 but it wasn't fixed. Then she brought it back and the guy, Sergio, was ridiculously rude. He practically yelled at her saying that she knows nothing about cars and maybe she needs to pay attention when people talk to her. He tried to call her a liar multiple times. We will never deal with him again. The other man there was nicer, but they always seem like they are trying to get over on you. I have never had such an uncomfortable experience before at a shop. After my interaction with Sergio, I would give this zero stars if i could. read more

The smog here cost 40 bucks out the door. The guy that did my smog asked if the check engine lights came on or if we had a new battery. I told him I don't know. My car didn't pass smog because I come to find out we didn't have enough miles on the car. He charges me 31 something and told me to drive at least 50 miles. If I want to come back he said he will give me a 5 dollar discount and I said "Can you do more and he said I would have to check with the owner." I was like "Cool, I'll come back Monday and see what you guys can do. Monday has finally arrived and I go back to the shop. I am approached by a very rude worker by the name of Darrell. I asked to speak to the owner so I can ask him myself if I can get a better discount. He said "Do you want to keep on talking or can I explain to you." He told me there's nothing he will do for me but go with the 5 dollars off. I was very frustrated because I had initially told him it's the owner that should make that call given my situation because I told the first worker I didn't know if check engine light was on or if there's been a change of battery. I think I should have been given the benefit of the doubt and told "Ms. your smog may not be completed or passed if you recently just switched battery and not put enough miles in it and I will still charge you." I was never told that. Darrell looks at me and says "Okay I'm going to use this device to check if your car has put enough miles for me to run a test and I won't charge you. You know I'm sure you like to do something free for someone and not get paid for it. By this time I already had enough of his sarcasm. He showed no professionalism. When I told him I didn't come here for an attitude he said you're trying to get work done for free. No sorry I'm not. I feel like I deserve a better discount given the situation and I wasn't give the benefit of the doubt. This Darrel guy had the audacity to call me "trouble." I'm the customer and I deserve to be treated better than that. I was not going to send one more cent on this place. read more

came gere a few weeks ago to get my headlight replaced a ñnd brake lights fixed, paid 60 for them to look at it, guy said headlight was fine, but it wasnt, it works when u turn on the headlights but the running light was out on auto and my the headlight would take a few seconds to turn on after the other already did, he said i would have to replace the whole brakelight abt 500 dollars, i had also mentioned the mmi system which every audi mechanic should know about, he didnt seem to know what i was talking about, anyhow, nothing for 60 bucks and i dont think he even took out the brake light to check because he said the led was broken, my car has traditional brake lamps, not led, anyhow i took it home and me and my husband fixed the brakelights the pins were rusted and it needed cleaning with electrical spray and i will have to find another person to change my headlamp still, paid 60 for nothing.....they would have had my business for future work had i had a better experience read more
