Half pepperoni and half plain, amazing pizza and crisp
    Robert P.

Amazing pizza, in my top 3 for sure! Very old school traditional pizza place inside. Has more formal dining area, pizza dining and covered outdoor seating which is great. Woman who rang me up was very kind, price was very reasonable around $21-$22 with tip. She brought it outside when it was ready with plates. Pizza itself has amazing crispy, love the cheese. I didn't like the pepperoni as much as the plain but will definitely be back. Must eat at pizza place for sure.

Amazing pizza and authentic Italian food at Ralph's Pizza in Nutley, NJ. Dave Portnoy gave it a high 8.9 rating!Gus and staff are awesome! Fine dining in side room. You won't be disappointed.

This is a takeout review. A lot of street parking and personal lot in the back. Something about the dough in this plain pie. It's not too much dough, the flop is perfect. It's not a thin slice but it's not a thick one either. It's not heavy which makes this guilty pleasure even better. This was the first time trying their eggplant parm sandwich too and the eggplant parm slices weren't greasy -- huge plus. Highly recommend-- maybe we'll dine in one day! TIL then-- this is a sweet spot for the perfect pie

One of the staples in nutley. Very unique pizza. One of the best. Nice and burnt on the top.

After a full day of hunting Pokémon at the nearby park, my friends and I were starving and decided to give Ralph's Pizzeria a try -- and it absolutely delivered! We ordered a large pizza and garlic knots, and not a single bite was left behind. The garlic knots were packed with flavor -- tossed in a rich garlic dressing and sprinkled with real garlic chunks, they were seriously addicting. The pizza had that classic, comforting taste -- a little on the greasy side, but still delicious. Inside, there's plenty of seating and the atmosphere was surprisingly calm and not loud at all, even with a steady flow of customers. Great spot to unwind and share a meal with friends. I'll definitely be back for another bite!

Ralph's certainly lives up to the hype...there's no doubt about it. If you haven't been, I highly suggest giving it a try. Not only is the pizza delicious but the real star is the dinner menu. The portions are beyond plentiful. If you're like me, the leftovers will last you days...yes you read that right. Ralph's always has a lot of delicious and unique dinner specials in addition to the menu which has a great variety of items to begin with. Honestly one of the best parts of the meal is the oil they give you to dip the bread in. It's so flavorful. I could literally make a meal of this, it's that good. Everyone that takes care of you is very friendly and accommodating. This is a must try regardless of where you're coming from.

    Slice of cheese pizza undercarriage

Wow! I came here after watching a One Bite Challenge video. Dave gave an 8.9 and I would agree completely and this was amazing pizza. I was on a mission to try some of the best rated pizzas in Northern NJ. Today was Ralph's and Star Tavern and a third was derailed by someone else that wanted to try a not so highly rated pizzeria, Cedar Grill. I'll review on their pages but if you try, like me, to try these other places, I'd say don't bother and stick with Ralph's, period, end of story! I got two slices, a cheese and a sausage. Both were exceptional and I may have enjoyed the cheese slice the best. The crust was thicker than I expected and had a great "undercarriage" and an unexpected but nice crunch. The flavor was amazing. It looks like they cook the pies in a pan and I'm not sure if it's fully cooked in a pan or partial. Regardless of that, the pizza had great flavor and I wouldn't hesitate to go back and get more, daily! Seems like it would get quite busy in the small pizza area and there was a sit down restaurant attached. I went early (1130am) and had no trouble getting my pizza quickly. Staff was friendly and seemed appreciative of the business. On to the next top rated pizza joint but will definitely be back to get more pizza at Ralph's!

Dear Dave Portnoy, I feel like you lead me down a bad path. You issued Ralph's a high rating. I don't understand. My pizza was lackluster. Nothing special. a solids standard 7 at best. For everyobody else: We got caught between the take out and dine in folks. One employee says sit in the dining area, the dining area employee told us we couldn't! WHAT'S THE DEAL??!! After a few minutes of confusion, we were seated in the dining area. (Just to give you all the details- there are only like 3 small tables in the take out area and they were all full. We were a party of 5 that would be ordering more than a slice or two.) We had the waiter who rejected us from the area and I constantly felt like there was a communication issue. He would not take our order in pieces, we had to order everything all al once! (Weird!) We ordered 2 pizzas, mozzarella sticks and a cesar salad. The salad arrived and I requested additional dressing. I think he gave me a side os mayonnaise! I am not kidding! Is he messing with me or does he not understand me?? The thing he dropped off had no Cesar flavor at all. I just kept moving on. Bottom line the dine in experience was not welcoming or easy. The pizza was not an 8.9. We won't be back Ralph.

    Bar pie with fresh mozzarella
    Asma A.

I don't adore bar pies the way some do, but I can still appreciate a good one. Ralph's was solid - good sauce and the crust was sturdy, although I found it to be a bit dry. Can't give it a fair review on the cheese since we got a margarita with fresh mozz. Alone, I'd give it 4 stars and I'd go back for a slice. My 3 stars comes from the fact that to be seated in the "restaurant" area, we had to order entrees along with our pizza that just didn't come out great. I got the truffle pasta and my friend got linguini with pesto sauce. He could not finish his pasta. My pasta was heavy on the truffle oil. Both were missing salt and featured overcooked pasta. It felt like being at a different spot from the pizzeria altogether. Altogether, I'd come here for a slice but would not come back for a family dinner.

My friend got Ralph's for us and told us that Dave Portnoy had rated it an 8.9. Once we heard that the pizza police had given their stamp of approval, I was even more excited to try! The pizza was absolutely out of this world. Thinner crust, super crispy and cooked to perfection. You could hold the slice up and it wasn't super soggy and dripping oil this is the real deal north Jersey pizza baby!! Next time I order I'm going to pick it up in person and hug the guys making the pizza.

Guy seemed overwhelmed and reluctantly took my order. I showed up 30 min later and no one had any record of my order. I recognized the guy's voice and told him he took my order. He was pissed and got into a shouting match with me with 3 other customers around. He eventually apologized and offered a free side of meatballs and spaghetti (don't order that btw, super underwhelming). 2nd time: Wife placed an order for a pie with half pepperoni on their website. Opted to place order on their website and got the same item as last time. Showed up at and the same miserable guy asked for my name and order... and then said he didn't have any order. I told him I placed an order on the website... and he said "You should have called." with an awful (only a mother can love) grin. I showed him my email confirming 6:20pm pickup time and he said he had no order... before pulling a pie with my name on it. I asked if it had half pepperoni and it didn't. Full toppings AGAIN. Clearly, their website is not equipped to actually take half toppings orders. Pizza is OK but not worth the headache or poor service here.

We spotted Blue Steel which had good, modern curb appeal to our hungry tummies. It looks like downtown Bloomfield is having a moment with some new condos and nicer restaurants coming in. Thanks, gentrification!? Inside has a clubby, bar vibe and we were seated at a hightop near the bar. I love a good wedge salad. I prefer the classic but I appreciate BSP's variation that has tomato, cucumbers, crispy frizzled onions, feta cheese, homemade ranch dressing, and everything sprinkle seasoning. It was generously sized and refreshing. And there's nothing but good things to say about the Detroit-style ezzo pepperoni pie, except that i wish I had a bigger stomach to eat MORE. After the salad (shared), I was only able to manage one slice, but it was a happy slice. My first time trying Detroit-style and it didn't disappoint. PS: There's a tiny, very lumpy and bumpy parking lot in the back that is very tricky to maneuver back out of. If it hadn't been for an Uber driver who got briefly trapped back in there with me, I might still be there today

There is no…read moreshortage of pizza, as they have anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 pizza restaurants using their family recipe to make some of the best pizzas in America. As the third-largest producer of tomatoes in the entire country, this key pizza-making ingredient not only sets New Jersey's classic 'tomato pies' apart from any ordinary pizza. This 10,000-square-foot, two-story establishment with a neon-lit sign on Glenwood Ave in Bloomfield asks, "Just another pizzeria?" They also house a 20-seat speakeasy that's open Thursday through Saturday called the Rab.bit Hole that can be found upstairs behind a hidden entrance. Opened in 2020, Blue Steel Pizza Company is the answer and should become obvious after looking at the menu. A reservation was easily made via Resy. My partner and I were greeted at the host station and got a regular table in the 1st-floor dining room by the pizza oven in the middle. The vibe was modern and industrial. Patrons had to use their phone flashlights to read the menu as the lighting was pretty dim. They are known for their Detroit-style pizza--a pie baked in a rectangular, traditionally blue-steel pan, the kind once used by autoworkers. It's made with a blend of mozzarella cheese and traditional Wisconsin brick cheese that melts down the side of the pie, making for a burnt, gooey, cheesy crust. It's cold-fermented for three days and is closer to sourdough. It has real flavor and an airier texture. It's like a lighter version of a Sicilian with a buttery crust. As a starter, we decided on the Chopped Salad. For our main entrée, we opted for the Jersey Tomato Pizza Pie. Portions run big enough for sharing, and we downed them with the 1911 Cider. The pizza crust was light, airy, and crispy with the right amount of fresh ingredients, making the ensemble tastefully delicious. The staff was attentive, friendly, and accommodating, and our server was Adam. The price was comparable to the area. We had a wonderful experience and would recommend this place.
