This is Ron. Ron likes to racially profile. Ron likes to get off on a power trip and kick customers out of a store for standing next to their friend with a backpack. We work down the street from this Ralph's and come here very often for miscellaneous items before and after work. While I'm buying my smart water I hear Ron saying to my co worker that he (Ron) has him on camera and aggressively came up to my co worker demanding him to open his bag. Mid you, had he mentioned the no bag policy and politely asked him to search his bag things might have gone differently. Instead he accuses my co worker of something he did not do, and demands he leave which he did. I went back into the store to snap this picture of RON working at Ralph's on Colorado Blvd in old town Pasadena on June 2 at 10:00 pm, and RON proceeds to tell me that there are no phones allowed in the store. He was absolutely manic, making rules up on the spot to intimidate customers. Absolute unacceptable, apparently he has a twin that works at another location. read more

Honestly I think its super convenient that I have a grocery store that is so close to my place of work. It makes things easy when I'm busy and don't really have time to get food from somewhere. There are never enough cashiers available to service the lines because they are trying to get everyone to use machines to check out. This store lacks Employees with customer service which reflects management. The Deli Manager (Short American lady) seems like she dreads being there. The other girl in the deli (Latina girl long black hair) she is just a rude person that makes you feel like you're bothering her to help you. The Meat department... well good luck finding someone. Horrible customer service. We usually avoid this Ralphs because it tends to be chaotic and ill organized, but today's experience was inexcusable. There were only two registers open (a bad start to any shoppers day) and the manager, Claudia, was helping a woman return an entire cart of groceries at one of said registers. She clearly knew the process would be lengthy, but rather than shut down the register and direct customers to the other open register, she allowed us to sit in line without consideration. When confronted on the issue, she just repeated "5 more minutes" over and over. By the time we realized she was being dishonest about the time estimation, the (only) other register had a line to the back of the store. 30 minutes later, another cashier finally appeared and opened an adjacent register. We understand that sometimes there are staffing issues, but Claudia's disregard for our time and the lack of customer care is the most egregious I've seen in some time. read more

The wait time is terrible. There seems to never be enough check out lanes, and even the self-checkout stands are often swamped. The place doesn't feel clean. Small aisles. Almost never has fresh fried chicken. This place is in high need of a complete redesign. First awful thing I see walking in... A nice old handicapped lady putting food in the trunk without bags, apples, oranges, she's just shifting them around while her other hand is held by a crutch. Why no bags? I'll tell you why, because some %#% politician decided that not providing bags would save the environment. Instead of coming up with biodegradable bags. Yep you got it, you have to remember to bring your bags with you otherwise they'll just toss your %$#% in a cart rolling all over the place. This place is a %#%% hole full of Ralph rejects who apparently were shipped from other stores here because they know little about customer service and I suspect the union couldn't fire them. I went in today to a line but grocer cashier guy said his line was closed. So I go to another line and I'm not blaming the customer as much as the bagger. You have to provide your own bags here remember, so he's messing about trying to get the food in the bag, waiting to get 4 items checked out, 10 minutes later, no sense of urgency btw on the cashier's side I'm out the door but not until some homeless guy asks me for money. The manager here, he spent most of the time roaming around the store trying to act like he's commanding whatever instead of focusing on customer service. No self service registers, yep you're stuck with the rejects in the front. During lunch time 2 cashiers, who aren't happy about life, but not just quite ready to call the suicide hotline. read more

This is the GOOD Pasadena Ralphs. It behaves like a gentleman, inviting you in kindly with its pretty yellow exterior and warm lighting. It offers you delicious Boarshead deli meat. It shares organic vegetables with you, offering you free samples (yum!) from the nice produce man. Then it romances you with the self-checkout lane and calls you the next day. (Okay, maybe not that last part.) Negotiating the parking lot is a little tricky, as spaces are tight together, but this is waaaaay better than the other Ralphs on Lake, so still 5 stars. read more

I only come to this Ralphs on UCLA game days to pick up tailgate items, and they surprisingly have some really good deals on those weekends. Last weekend they had 12-packs of Newcastle on sale (YES!), and their carne asada and pork tenderloin were cheap as well. The cashiers I've come across are always very friendly, even at 8 a.m.! It is a very well-kept and (possibly) remodeled Ralphs, but I feel like the aisles/walking spaces are tinier than others. Kind of like their tiny parking lot :( I also agree with Andrea O. that it is freezing in there. If you're a lady, you will probably need a light sweater. Poor circulation is a killer! Despite that, I will be going to this Ralphs every football season until I'm an old lady or until it closes--whichever comes first! read more

Came here the other night for a quick coffee run. Was able to get my items no problem but while I was walking up to the register I was greeted by Julia and she immediately asked me to stand back, feeling confused for a second then heard screaming and yelling from some man who refused to wear his mask and was refusing to leave or comply with the policies of the store. The store manager Ron came forward and did his best to make the customers feel safe and demanded the man to put on a mask or leave. Meanwhile Julia kept checking in to make sure I felt okay while the managers tried to get the stubborn man to leave. Once the man left Julia apologized for the awkward encounter and finished helping me making sure I got out the store without encountering the crazy man. The store manager Ron as well came up and apologized to the guests in the store for the scene. I'm glad to see this business doing all they can to make their customers feel safe. Something comes off rather suspicious of this location compared to other Ralphs. Perhaps it's because it's located right on Colorado Blvd nearby Old Towne, so it has to be kept completely clean and pristine. No, I'm not bitching about that part, but this is seriously one of the cleanest Ralphs I've ever been to. Now if the three near me back at home can take a cue, I might actually shop at Ralphs more. This one always has my Odwalla smoothies on sale (the always isn't a joke), so after a run around the Rose Bowl and I'm craving something beyond my water, I'll drive here to pick up one. Apparently before me there was a customer who paid with EBT and the cashier voiced her opinion very loudly. "You know what I F**** hate? When someone has a Michael Kors bag and pays with EBT." So rude. Why don't you talk about a customer privately between your co-workers when there's no customers in front of you. Not only that but she cussed when she said that sentence. That is seriously so unprofessional. She wants people to feel like crap? Just because someone is on EBT they aren't allowed to have nice things? Poor service. Poor attitude. Unprofessional. I'm easily overwhelmed here. Too much fake food and not enough of the good stuff (fruits veggies, raw nuts, whole grains) it was funny to see a sign that said: This Aisle: Soda, Soft Drinks and New Age Beverages; what does that mean New Age Beverages? Does that mean naturally sweetened with agave, stevia or fruit juice concentrate? vs. high fructose corn syrup, Splenda, aspartame or refined sugar? Though I can't blame this Ralph's store for the inherent fault of all supermarkets (aside from Trader Joes and the other more exclusive health food stores such as Whole Foods, Erewhon, etc). I can say however, that this store is ample, and items aren't crammed together. Redbox near the entrance is also a plus. I like that there is rarely a line to grab a movie, unlike at some other supermarkets with Redbox you are likely to have to wait a bit. Store is never too crowded. Pleasant shopping experience and always easy parking. read more

This has to be one of the worst Ralph's I've been to. Without fail almost every single time I go there despite the numerous amount of employees that walking around talking, there never seems to be anyone at the cashier stands to help me pack groceries. What's worse is I'm stuck having to pack all my groceries on my own (there's an older gentleman there who rushes my things throw and never helps me pack them but watches me as I'm scrambling to try and pack my bags and pay at the same time). I've called and complained to the store manager multiple times but it never changes. Sadly it's one of the closer more convenient markets so I suck it up and go but I'm throwing it out there that this location SUCKS. Horrible HORRIBLE staff, even worse customer service. The manager by the name of Ron I believe, is beyond racist. I noticed how he's attentive and he even anticipates the moment he interacts with people of the same race as he is. I had a question once I was done purchasing my items. I sat to the side while he processed the other patrons items and not once did he say "may I help you" or anything. He did make eye contact with me briefly but he never said a word to me. To make matters worst, a lady (white) of course, waited patiently to the side and as soon as he noticed she was standing to the side he asked her did she forget something. I shook my head, smiled and left the store. It's so sad how this world is full of hate towards people of color. I live just a few blocks from this Ralph's and am in this store more than I would like ... usually 2 or 3 times a week. Because I am in there so frequently, I know most of the employees by name and they are always friendly and smiling. There have been several instances when I needed to get something from the back and had no trouble getting assistance to do so. Warning: The climate INSIDE the store is more that of Alaska than Southern California. If you are going to be in there for any length of time, I highly recommend a jacket and long pants. My favorite thing about shopping here is that they are very quick to open a new cashier line if more than 3 people are in line. read more

This is a nice clean store with very friendly employees. The manager was standing in an aisle taking inventory, or something to that effect, and stopped what he was doing to say hello. I asked him where something was located and he literally walked five aisles over with me to show me. Every time l go into this sh*t hole it is an experience. Now l go in at 5am when they open but the employees never say hello, good morning or even smile. They act like l am in their way when I walk the isles while they are trying to stock the shelves. When l checked out Jenn was a real treat. No eye contact, no good morning she acted like she didn't want to be there. Only asked me if l needed a bag and if l had my Ralphs card. Couldn't even hand me my receipt just left it on the counter as l was putting my wallet away then she just walks away without saying a word. Smh. I live nearby, so I have been coming here for years. It is the closest market to my home. The parking is my problem. The last time I came here a few days ago, the lot was full except for a number of parking spaces in which people had parked shopping carts. I stopped in the driveway through the lot, got out of my car, and grabbed 4 carts left in two spaces. Why not make a space, and leave one for someone else? Well, the carts had locked up under an anti-theft device designed to keep people from taking the carts off the lot. My guess is that I dragged 50-75 pounds of steel across the parking lot, so I could park. I complained to the manager, who told me (among other things) that I could have come in and gotten a Ralph's employee to get the carts. I noted for him that I had waited 5 minutes to get to him after the event, and I moved the carts to get a place to park. His suggestion wasn't terribly practical unless I went down the street to park, came back to the store, got the manager, got the carts moved, returned to my car and then got back up to the parking lot before someone else took the spaces I had gotten cleared. Which brings us to today. There's a bus stop on Colorado Blvd at the north end of the parking lot. A woman was standing on the sidewalk fronting Colorado waiting for the bus. She had put a bunch of bags holding stuff in a shopping cart and parked the cart in the middle of the only parking space available for quite a distance while she waited for the bus. None of her stuff came from Ralph's. She was standing on the sidewalk fronting Colorado; the cart was over a low wall in the parking lot. The wall separates the sidewalk from the parking lot. There was nothing on the shaded bus bench next to her; there was plenty of room for her stuff there. I got out to move the cart (I didn't know it was holding her stuff at the time. I thought some other shopper had left it there with some discarded bags in it, or something. See above) and an altercation followed. No blows, but it was very unpleasant. I saw no point in bothering the manager with this one. I don't need a power-lifting exercise or a fight with a stranger in order to go to the market. I will shop elsewhere. read more

I didn't think it was that clean and i only made a quick stop there but i didn't find anything i liked and i was only going there to look for the Red Box to return a video...i didn't feel a good vibe in that store so i left immediately. read more

The store was just average for products. One thing that jumped out though, was that management, in this time of Covid-19, is apparently not requiring checkers to wear masks. The masks we wear are not to protect the wearer from other folk. They are to protect others from our own spit as we speak. My checker was talking and talking as he checked, no mask...nothing. I was stunned. After reading other reviews of the customer service deficiencies, I am not terribly surprised. The Ralph's chain needs to replace store management here. I will give this store one more chance (if I am still unable to find delivery), but only one. Customer service is everything. I have frequented grocery stores for all of my life and have never been treated in a manner as I was yesterday. I live and work down the street from this particular Ralph's, so this store is rather convenient to shoot at. I purchased a few dessert items for my brothers birthday, as I do for anyone's birthday. This trip included a peach pie for $4.99 on 07/08/2015 around 8pm. I also threw the receipt out like many people do because I would have no need to return a food item, I WAS WRONG! The next day after work around 5pm I came home and was ready to serve the pie to our guests and to my embarrassment the PIE was COVERED in MOLD! I wasn't upset with Ralph's over the mold because I figured a quick apology and replacement/refund would be granted. That was not the case and what happened next prompted me to write this review. 6pm: I walk into Ralph's and the cashier asked what I needed and I quietly said "this pie has mold on it". She hastily waved me to come around and when I handed the pie to her she said "where is your receipt"? I explained I threw it out but this pie was purchased less than 24 hours ago. She gave me the worst attitude and said "did you buy this on sale or something"? I said no of course and I pointed out that the use by date was for the 10th. Then with the rudest tone said "did you buy by cars, if so give me the card". She took my card swiped it and apparently refunded my account. I had no idea what she was doing with my card, until I saw the -$4.99 on the screen. This entire time I was treated like some sort of criminal, offered no apology & the woman added money back to my card without asking what I wanted done. Needless to say this post was written based on 1 bad experience due to a probably once in a lifetime return to a grocery store. If you are going to work with the public you should learn how to control your emotions and provide the best customer experience ever. read more

Came here with a friend to pick up a bottle of wine on a recent trip to Pasadena. We had just finished shopping in Old Town & needed some vino to take back to the house. The store was clean & bright. We are both not Ralph's shoppers & I did notice the prices were higher than the supermarkets at home. However, I had such a pleasant experience at check out! The clerk was a riot- so personable & funny- you can tell he loves people and loves his job. So refreshing this day & age! I asked if Ralph's was connected to Safeway or Lucky's & he automatically knew I was from up north! He was nice enough to use his own club card so I could get the deal price & he joked if I had the same birthday as him (as he checked my ID) he'd buy the wine for me. Unfortunately the 1/365 odds were not I my favor. I will gladly return if in the area again! read more
