Poorest managed store in Cali they run out of produce on the weekends I never have enough people to do check out they put in other stations to self check out that are not busy enough and tried to cut back on the number of cashiers. The staff at this location is hit and miss. On the floor, everyone is really helpful, especially the meat and bakery department. However, my experience with their cashiers hasn't been great. 4th time checking out with an ill tempered cashier. Never met anyone less suited for customer service than Regina. It's really great to be snapped at because you failed to remember entering your Ralph's card. Seriously, she handed me my ass. Once done, she placed my half and half on a crushable item. She shot me a look when it happened, but I didn't notice until I got home. Going to do my best to shop at Trader Joe's, Target or Bristol Farms. Same prices (if not better) with less attitude. This review is for the Deli. It is so poorly run. They have a place for a line but no one behind the counter ever looks in the direction of the line. They move behind the counter without making eye contact. When you move up trying to get service, they tell you to get back to the end of the line. This is not worth it. During my checkout with Atul J I experienced terrible customer service. After giving her my phone number, I asked if that number worked correctly and she replied with "I would of told you if it didn't work, right?" I found her comment extremely sarcastic and rude. This is a nice store. As soon as you walk in you walk into a display of beautiful fruits and vegetable. It's a pretty big clean store. They have a large selection of wine and cultural foods. They have a nice selection of flowers and plants to buy. The price our ok. But the morning star brand of soy products was a bit high. The customer service when checking out was great. Since it's located in Manhattan Beach, it attempts to be more upscale with a Starbucks kiosk right inside near the north entrance and has lots of different products to choose from but a Ralph's is a Ralph's is a Ralph's. Had a poor customer service here. Called managers attention of the poor customer service in Deli Section. Manager's name is Chris Simone is so rude. I'm pretty sure that if I'm a White or a Caucasian this issues will be handle more nicely but what he did is he argued w me and embarrassed me in front of the white customers. This is definitely a RACIST / RACIAL . Since I'm a Filipino that looks like a Mexican. It happens at 7:15 to 7:45 pm. This was my first (and probably last) visit to the Manhattan Beach Ralphs. After grabbing lunch at Islands and dessert at Susie Cakes, I knew I needed to get to a grocery store for some no-bake lasagna noodles as I was making lasagna for dinner that night. I know Ralphs carries them, so we stopped in. At first, everything was great. The noodles were on sale and the self checkout process went without a hitch. Then, my little cousin asked if we could get a ball. The Ralphs in Arcadia and Monrovia both carry large handball-type balls. We didn't see any in this location, so we asked an employee. Here's how that went: Me: Do you have a toy section anywhere? I didn't see one. Guy: Nope. Me: Oh, okay. All the other Ralphs carry them..... Guy: It's seasonal. Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. Try CVS next door. They carry more "general merchandise" Really? "Nope" is your answer? So then we grab a coffee from the Starbucks inside the store. Some guy, who will be referred to now as Stoner Bob, was possibly the world's slowest barista. He proceeded to make our drinks incorrectly (hot instead of iced) because his fellow barista (she looked like Whitney Houston when she was on crack) kept bugging him to show him all the renovations they're allegedly doing. At one point, Stoner Bob stopped pouring my drink so he could turn and see what she was talking about. Then Stoner Bob remade my drinks and felt the need to take the wrappers off my straws and put them inside my cup. Icky. Probably won't be back if this is the way they run things. read more

I have come here all this week once every day since Monday and today is Thursday to make different Western Unions and send money to my family who is repairing our house in my country. This is the closest place for menso I come here first. Every tome is a different excuse, systems are down, already closed (1pm,3,pm,6 or 7pm) don't matter at what time it seems that they close at their convenience every day. Today is that their manager is on a meeting and have just stepped out on that same minute. OK this is going to seem weird but I have to review this place and let my fellow yelpers in on this little secret. This Ralphs super market has a broiler bar. What this means is you can stop by at lunch and not only get a fresh made deli sandwhich but you can also select from a pretty good range of broiled meats to either put on a sandwich or sold as a plate with a few sides. Now let me start by saying you do not want to even look at the side dishes if you are on a low carb diet. It is potatoes, pasta and rice and plenty of it. Even the vegtables all seem to be swiming in some sort of cream sauce. Yeah this is comfort food gone wild. The meats are very very good. Now the secret is getting the right counter person to serve you. There is one young lady that is a little more generous than the others. Let me put it this way. I am a pretty big guy and I could only eat half of my meat and two item combo. If you work in the area this is one of the best lunch meals you will find for miles. They also have a variety of chicken dishes if slabs of meat are not your thing. it is a bit inconvenient but hey where else can you be freaked out by ghouls and get a hell of a lunch deal to boot. read more

They have the kid grocery carts!!!! My family loves going here. The price is ok for Ralph's. The produce doesn't have a lot of fresh items to pick from. I gave it a lot of stars because the employees are nice and friendly, they will even crack jokes with you. They are helpful at check out lanes and I have never had any issues with the employees. The minus one star is because some of the items I like they run out of and wont carry it again at all or months in between times. I'm sure that's a vendor issue. Also fresher produce would be good. I do frequent this Ralph's. I quiet enjoy it actually. Of all the Ralph's, I always find crazy good finds on the clearance shelves. Shoot, I just told you my secret. I found an entire collection of grilling tools for less than 20 bucks before Christmas. I gave them to my bro-in-law. Let him think I spent almost $100 for grilling tools, when, I really didn't even spend $25. Guess what sister-in-law is winning? Haha I also want to give a shout out to the deli department. Giving samples, treating me like gold. Customer Service goes a long way. Food is expensive, & I hate wasting. Being able to sample a small taste saves money, cuts down on waste & helps the environment. I also find they stock their food properly, date wise. I've found expired food on the shelves of other groceries around the area but not at Ralph's in MB. Deli food is always really tasty & bread/rolls soft, chicken & sides are fresh, & the deli employees are always honest about what is the freshest or hottest. I am always appreciative of that honesty. I like when people are straight up front. No holds bar. These are your options. Last night I shopped at Ralph's, & I received the best compliments from the checker. I live across the street, so even if it sucked, i'd still go. All Ralphs have great produce so I'm not surprised by the reviews that talk about their selection. This is a Ralph's Fresh Faire and as such, have a slightly better booze and cheese selection with improved deli counter. The only thing i don't buy at this Ralph's is seafood but that is more to do with them as a company adding color to make it look better. Seeing the Color Added sign bugs me. The prices are not any different then other members of the chain. I'd avoid it on Sunday because everyone goes shopping for the week on that day. Midweek is not bad. Parking is huge and i've never had any issues there. Their receipts also have discount coupons for the car wash on the corner and the 30% off the dry cleaners next door(kind of expensive, so this is a big help) If you need help with wine, talk to the Wine Steward. He has helped me many times and has made some great recommendations (he doesn't just slang you expensive bottles, some great $9 rec.) read more

Generally I really like this store. Unfortunately today was awful, severely understaffed with only 3 cashiers and no support from the manager. I was told that the manager was in the office when I asked to speak to them. Why a manager is in their office when there is a 30 minute wait to cash out is beyond me. Ralphs stores tend to be more expensive than other grocery chains, but they also carry tend to stock a greater variety of products. Unfortunately that's not the case at this particular Ralphs. What little variety they do have, seems to diminish daily, as products disappear from the shelves with unnerving regularity. And once something disappears from this store, it's generally gone for good. Sort of like what happened with Jimmy Hoffa. Now, the manager of this Ralphs probably had nothing to do with that Jimmy; but I have a strong suspicion he was responsible for the disappearance of Jimmy DEAN ... Breakfast Sandwiches. Why is it, I can I buy products like this at all Ralphs but this one? I asked the manager to please start carrying this product again -- or even special order it for me, prepaid -- but that got me nowhere. Well, I didn't actually TALK to the manager. After all, nobody seems to know who the manager is. But they did let me write a note, and leave it on the service desk. So why do people say this store has no customer service? ;-) Don't assume that only gourmet breakfast cuisine can fall prey to this manager's whim: Anything can go, at any time. He has the power. Just a wave of his pencil is all it takes to make even huge 40 lb bags of water softener salt disappear. Like many people in Manhattan Beach, we need to use a water softener to prevent our extremely hard tap water from destroying our plumbing fixtures. Softeners in this area must be fed 40 lb bags of salt every few weeks. But water softened with sodium chloride salt pellets has high levels of sodium, and that can cause high blood pressure in humans, and kill plants you water with it. Fortunately, water softeners can use potassium chloride salt instead; and water softened with potassium chloride salt is actually beneficial to humans and plants alike. So for years, I used to buy a 40lb bag of potassium softener pellets from this Ralphs, every 16 days. But all good things must end, sooner or later. (Although, at this Ralphs, it's always 'sooner'.) And true to form, a few months ago the potassium chloride shelf tag was gone; the shelf bare. Fortunately, this Ralphs appears to be uniquely bad; the exception to the rule: Most -- if not all -- Ralphs are well managed. Indeed, there are great Ralphs just a few miles away, in El Segundo and Hermosa Beach. That's where I go to get all the disappeared products like potassium water softener salt. In fact, I think I saw Jimmy Hoffa AND Elvis in the El Segundo store. ;-) I recently noticed this Manhattan Beach Ralphs no longer carries ANY water softener salt, of any kind. So I'm betting I'll soon see my neighbors shopping at the El Segundo and/or Hermosa Beach Ralphs. read more

Ultra-fancy and for some reason, smelled ridiculously like Cinnabuns when I went in. I was tempted to buy something from the bakery just because of it! Went in for the 50% off meat sale, but the butcher informed me that only cheap-y rib eyes were 50% off and directed me towards the value pack wrapped ones, which looked ... well, gnawed on. I told him the other Ralphs down Sepulveda closer to the 105 was able to give me individually wrapped pieces from the butcher display but he said that THIS Ralphs had higher quality meat. Plus, myself and two other shoppers waited at the butcher counter for 10 minutes without anyone appearing. I finally went to the bakery and asked them to ring someone. A few minutes later, the butcher came strolling over like he didn't have a care in the world. When I turned and made eye contact with him, he started walking slower, with exhaggerated slow steps, like he was running but in slow-mo. Umm, keep three people waiting and you want to mess around? As I was shopping, multiple Ralph's employees would Check in with me to make sure I was finding everything okay. However, one individual stuck out to me. When I went to pay for my groceries at the cash register, Susan R welcomed me with a warming smiling and asked how my day was. Her kindness and patience made going out to shop an absolute joy. I understand that covid has been rough on all of us, including grocery stores I guess, but the amount of times now over the last year that this store has sold me food that was moldy, rotten, and/or had literal bug corpses festering away inside is disturbingly high. I came in to buy groceries, and I had an issue looking for a specific item. I see Sal and ask him about them and for whatever reason he starts to make comments to me about my appearance (which made me very uncomfortable) I confront him about it and he proceeds to start cussing at me. One more thing that I noticed, they seem to have fresher, and newer products. Roshan helped me in the self-check - went out of her way to help scan some hard-to-scan items. And weeks back I think that her name was Sylvia went to the back of the store to get me another milk since I thought I had 5 items to qualify for the discount but just had four. I go here for my work trips. I rent dvds from the redbox and it had everything I wanted. The selection of coconut water is really good here. Pretty much every brand you would want.
