Came in to get some heavy cream and half and half for the inevitable baking job coming up soon at the house and of course got to be ready with my two cups of coffee a day habit. Upon leaving the store I was intercepted by a gentleman who has been with Ralphs as a courtesy clerk for going on five years now. As he offered to take my cart and take it to the appropriate location, I couldn't help but strike up a small conversation with him, and let him know how he is appreciated. A grocery store is a grocery store, and let's face it most are all alike-save for the occasional product inventory that may differ relative to your liking. But the real story here is this kind young man who struck up a conversation with me and has the greatest outlook even in today's somewhat dreary world. They close one door every day and never put up the sign telling customers to use the other door...people are constantly walking up to this door and don't know what's going on! Is the store closed? Has there been an emergency? You can watch confused customers standing at the door looking completely perplexed everyday. To improve customer service maybe don't let your employees skip lines or make people wait for their already paid drinks at Starbucks because they came up and the baristas drop everything to make sure the employee gets his coffee first and make everyone else wait longer.....multiple people in line to pick up their drinks some waiting for over 10 mins already before the employee came up. Great customer service by that guy....if they don't care about return business and guest service maybe keep them in the back, cause their parents definitely did not teach them patience and politeness. read more

There is a nice selection of food items. However, the aisles are narrow and have displays, which makes it difficult for two people with baskets to navigate down them. The store looks clean and the shelves are well stocked. The deli sandwiches are delicious. read more

Jessica was giving me attitude for absolutely no reason. I nicely asked her if she could get something from the bakery display, and her coworkers literally had to CONVINCE her to do it. She looked so agitated that she had to do her job. She kept making faces at me when I'd done nothing, tossing our stuff when checking it out and tossed a crumpled receipt at me with such attitude. Even my friend told me she looked like she was trying not to laugh at me. I don't know whether she had a bad day, or thought it'd be ok to treat me horribly because I looked alternative, or what. Restocking the shelves here is almost non existent! This is just unacceptable at this point! The manager of this store needs to get onto this issue! The restocking issue was there before the shortages issue came out! The diet soda was sold out and the Crystal Geyser water and the other stuff that I buy here was also sold out! Another thing I should point out was that one of assistant managers was rude to me! She was very sassy when I scanned the Kroger Pay! All the cashiers are top notch. They all get 5 stars. Alfred is also outstanding. He will help you with everything! So, we suffer through a remodel, which didn't do much to improve the store, but at least we could look forward to the grand opening. The grand opening was today, apparently from 8am - 11am. I had a very unpleasant experience today, which was surprising since I've never had any issues at this location before. While using the self-checkout, I had only a few items and approached the register as another customer was finishing up. I mistakenly thought the conveyor belt had stopped, so I reached to grab my items. At that moment, an employee who was assisting at the self-checkout raised her voice and told me "don't be scanning your items ! While someone is bagging !!" The way this was handled felt unnecessarily harsh and unprofessional. She then abruptly moved my items aside when I was about to do it . Being spoken to in that manner, especially in front of other customers, was uncomfortable and upsetting. I frequently visit this location during my breaks from work nearby, and I've noticed similar behavior from this employee on previous occasions. I believe customers should be treated with respect, and I hope this feedback is taken seriously to improve the overall experience. read more

I was looking through clearance items near restrooms when these two cornered me in.They persisted in aiming their phone at mine, stating they were scanning my phone to get $ from Apple Pay. I managed to get back out into main aisle, took a pic which didn't bother them at all. They were confident in taking the liberty to harass and threaten me at this Ralphs. I asked for help. Employee S thought it was funny, Btold me she'd help me AFTER she finished getting a bottle of wine for another customer first...what about safety first? Of course, these two guys left the store without any consequence bc that's what happens when employees like S and B don't take a matter seriously. Police were called. I'm visiting from out of state. I usually shop on Mondays, however, due to family obligations, I decided to shop on Thursday; instead of waiting until the next week. Not good. I see most of the employee store veterans, who I have known for years who work here at this Ralphs location, work on Mondays; toward the end of the week, they move to the self-checkout lines, etc. The store has received a makeover that looks good! The ambiance is good. However, some employees that I have encountered, gave me a bad experience. This review is about one of those experiences. A put my food on the conveyor belt. I had alot of items so, I didn't come up to the cash register immediately. I was NOT greeted. After I completed putting my items on the belt, (Jessica) the employee working my line, looked at me and continued scanning my items. I walked to the pay machine put in my Ralph's card. She was still working. She spoke with the bag guy during this time. After, Jessica was done scanning, still no greeting. She told me the total. I said good afternoon. She said the total again! Then looked at me with this puzzled look. I told her she never greeted me, that's why I'm greeting you with a good afternoon. She said "Oh, I thought I greeted you". Oh course she did NOT greet me as I was watching her the whole time. Also she never asked me for my Ralphs card. In addition, after all was said and done, the system was waiting for her to press something on her side for the transaction to be complete. I stood there waiting for her to finish the transaction. After the transaction was complete, she gave me me receipt with a "here you go". Totally inappropriate. If this is how your employees treat customers, I will shop only on Mondays (with the people I know), or go to another store. That behavior is totally unacceptable. read more

Not many places in Manhattan Beach offer such an awful experience as having to deal with "Walker" in the self checkout lines. I don't know who hurt this lady but she does not belong in a position where she has to interact with the public. A 3 is a perfectly accurate overall rating : Average to a T! Drive up pickup is hit or miss. It's usually decent but when it's off, maaan, it's bad. They usually have most of you app placed order, but there's a good chance they'll be out of at least one item. And when I say a good chance, I mean they're gonna be out of something. If you're lucky, they'll even tell you what they were out of before you need to check your receipt and/or unpack. The positive about this location is that they have a bigger stock on some popular items than most (ie paper towels and toilet paper). I've never had any expiration date issues either. Final Word: Not bad. Just average. As an aside, the drivers and walkers in their parking lot are inconsiderate. So, heads up. They both stop in the middle like nothing, which is super dangerous. read more

This review was meant for the bakery which the score would be 2 stars. But because I received great service in the main store I can't leave a low score. The bakery receives 5 stars for the delicious yummy cakes we've ordered. But the service is a dismal 1 star for both occasions we ordered cakes. Their operation is not organized and staff are rude. One lady literally said aloud "Not another one" when her colleague explained I was waiting for my pre-ordered custom cake. The lady she just finished serving was complaining she was waiting for her son's birthday cake but the bakery was making excuses about the unmade order. It was difficult to watch them explain how they weren't responsible for the debacle. We won't be using this bakery again to order cakes. It's a shame because they taste great. I have been to this Ralphs maybe once or twice. They have a nice decent clean store. Better than some of the other I have been to in the South Bay. I was here not long ago, picking up a few items and food for a business party. I found everything I needed here with assistance. Huge parking lot and shopping center. I put in an online order to pick up after work. The order went through just fine. It was only two items that couldn't be found. I checked in at 5:38 p.m. but due to some difficulties I didn't receive my groceries until about 20 to 30 minutes later. I checked in on the app and then I called the number posted in the parking spot but got nothing. Another customer happened to pull up next to me that put in an online order as well and of course was dealing with the same dilemma. I decided to walk in to ask questions pertaining to my order. I spoke with Karina who was helping with self checkout. She was helpful but of course couldn't do too much due to the fact that self checkout is where she belonged. I seen two different employees pass by by the name of Justin and Ronnie and I begin to bug them concerning my order. I went back out to the car contemplating counseling the order but then the other customer and I decided to walk back inquire even more about our orders. A woman by the name of Angie was located and she the one that got the ball rolling. Not only did we receive our orders but we also received a complimentary drink from Starbucks on her. That made me feel valued actually. If I was having any type of ill feelings Angie cause those to disappear. I love coming here. They have better prices than the Vons I live next to so I go out of my way to come here. The store is clean, there's usually staff around to ask questions and there's a lot of check out lines open. The only complaint I have is when I asked for cash back from Nick C, I requested and paid for $20 cash back and the cashier only gave me $15. I didn't notice until I was already home but was super upset that the cashier stole $5 from me. When he handed me the money, he said here is $20.... I don't know if he stole it from me or doesn't know how to count to 20 but it was very upsetting. It also isn't something I can prove so there's no point in going back and arguing. read more

Very large grocery store with its very own Starbucks. I haven't really gone into many stores during the pandemic except on off hours when I was certain there were few customers. Looks like many patrons are comfortable without masks on, but staff still is masked and so was I. I appreciated everyone who stayed quiet and respected my make on choice. Well laid out, lots of products and well stocked shelves. Clean and brightly lit. Multiple chaser stands were NOT open but the self checkout line was also long. There are two self checkout lines of maybe 4 registers apiece but only one area was open tonight. I got 2bottles of cold brew Stok brand since they were on sale. Ralphs customer loyalty card gave me 19 points to use on gas but the minimum required to fill up is 100 points. Also a pack of gum for those longer drives. Very efficient cashier was also chatty with coworkers but that's okay since I literally had just these three items. I might've been miffed if I had a load of groceries however. Nicer me was present tonight. Lol. read more

Great selection and quality - my feedback today is specifically for the expertise and the 5 start customer experience I had on Sunday, thanks to our cashier, Angie! Thanks Ralphs Deli department for providing the perfect party platters for my child's birthday party! We ordered 2 Tea Sandwich Platters (Turkey/American and Roast Beef/Swiss), and they were gobbled up. I ordered the platters online, but went in person to verify the order and make adjustments to it. It's hard to get them on the phone, but it was easy to stop by in person. Next time we'll order the birthday cake from Ralph's too! read more

UPDATE: September 2023: looks like they hired a bunch of new staff, esp for the deli section. A little slow because they are in training, but they are nice and want to be helpful so this is a good thing, and I didn't mind waiting. I went there to pick up some pulled chicken as I do each week--in the afternoon--and they were all out. I asked the deli man when they were going to have some more of it and he asked me how many I needed and I said two. He told me to come back in 15 minutes and he made two containers for me on the spot. Thank you, Carlos! That was the kind of customer service that I've come to expect at Ralph's MB.
