After visiting the UTC/La Jolla Ralphs, on Via Mallorca, I felt compelled to write this comment. Specifically, I am writing about the two gentlemen, Bill and Mark, who work in the meat department. The two guys have to be the nicest, most helpful, kindest men I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. It is obvious these two guys love their jobs and want each and every customer to have a wonderful shopping experience. They will both go out of their way to make sure the customer gets the best quality service they can possibly provide. this is the ralphs i go to multiple times a week, so i know my way around here. i don't really know how to review a grocery store, but i love ralphs. open 24 hours, huge, super close to my house. i tend to do my grocery shopping pretty late though, because the parking here sucks and the lot is so poorly designed. always good deals and always open :) read more

I was moderately surprised upon entering. I wasn't sure what I was expecting but this place is pretty cool. It has the feels of Trader Joe's but more similar to Safeway. I walked in to check out their floral selection for graduation and had exactly what I was looking for. Pretty organized store. read more

This is your typical grocery store, nothing special but has everything you need in one stop. Very well maintained, clean and orderly.

Great store in the La jolla area.. just be careful not to go in the afternoon like 5pm on it will get full quick and they're not the best about opening up new lanes very quickly. Otherwise has a redbox in it and a Golden spoon! It's a nice, clean and kept up Ralphs!! read more

I am in love with this Ralphs because it's so convenient and open 24 hours. Be sure to sign up for the Ralphs Savings Card because you will get great deals on a lot of the items. Plus I love to frequent the redbox stations located inside the market. Oh and there is a Wells Fargo, a postal service, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and a Golden Spoon too! As everyone mentioned, the downside is the nightmare that they call parking. read more

Very convenient yes, just across from where I live but, completely Overpriced compared to other grocery stores the parking here is real bad tight and small but, it's open 24 hours which is good. If it wasn't that is real convenient it would have been 3 stars and 5 stars if the prices were more reasonable or better. read more

The pharmacy at this location was not caring or helpful. They made an easy process long and challenging. I have not had this experience at any other Ralphs or Fred Meyer Pharmacies. The staff here really needs to work on the service they provide. read more

Make sure your GPS tracking system is working here because this place is massive... a bit scary and huge... decent selection of organic and veggie/Vegan products.. but be warned, that is not coffee that they serve, that is muddy rain water... read more

The most classiest grocery store I've ever been to! It gives Fred Meyer stores a run for their money! I love how it's open 24 hours... even the pharmacy. Now that's impressive! Makes me want to move to San Diego/La Jolla JUST for this Ralph's location! :D read more

It amazes me how often people complain about the smallest little things. This Ralph's is amazing. Sure, the parking sucks, but that's the store's fault. This store is awesome, open 24 hours, has almost everything you need. If you have a Ralph's card, nothing is comparatively close to Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, or even Vons down the street. Employees are helpful, they are always stocked, and have so many different services tied into the store, it's kind of like it's own little mall (not really). It's the most convenient, accessible, and reliable grocery student fit for a college student. Set your standards low, and any place you go to will give you a better experience. The meat department keeps me from giving this Ralph's five stars. The meat quality is subpar. I look at it and can tell it's spoiled or about to spoil. The kosher section is no better. There are lots of "gourmet" things like parmesan encrusted chicken breasts, beef kabobs and stir frys, but not the same quantity in cuts of meat. I know what they doing...those gourmet items are made from older meat and presenting it like that is a mind game. I stopped at the Ralph 's in Encinitas because I was in the area. Went to RaIphs early this morning. I needed kosher stew and brisket meat quickly for our last minute dinner plans at our house for 16 Kosher guests. The gentleman named Willy Spham is a tall skinny nice man in charge of cutting the meat at Ralphs La Jolla. He is very kind and takes his time listening to what you need. Even though the meat packages were not ready to be put out for another four hours, Willy was nice enough to put a rush to my order. I ended up buying $70 worth of Kosher meat and $60 worth of chicken pieces. The food is in the oven cooking as I am typing, an incredible aroma in my kitchen. Can't wait to taste the food. It's a pretty standard Ralphs. Large selection of pretty much everything. If I had it my way, I'd shop exclusively at Trader Joe's for my food, but sometimes you just need a few things that you won't find there. This Ralph's definitely caters to the many UCSD students in the area as it is open 24 hours a day, and they have tables and chairs where I frequently see students studying. I like how this Ralphs has a Wells Fargo inside. read more

If I could say I have a favorite Ralphs, hands down, this would be it... it's open 24 hours!!!!!! I'm sad they no longer have the fabulous candy isle they used to have, but really though, it's so clean, organized, and just open for you at any hour of the day! I've literally gone in in PJs before whenever I felt like a random snack in the middle of the night, and you know what, other people do too! I really can't complain. You could literally live in this grocery store, save for the occasional need for a shower. It has everything - Wells Fargo, pharmacy, Golden Spoon, Lunch tables, lounge area w/ WIFI and TV, fully stocked grocery store with kosher selections, a deli, bakery, seafood, frozen food, fresh produce, liquors, and more. There really is nothing to complain about, except for one tiny little thing, you see, the PRICES are not the best deal if you are on a budget. Even with Ralphs Savings card you can easily spend $50 here buying just a handful of items if you are not careful. There is better shopping for budget elsewhere, but Ralphs is stocked with quality fresh products in La Jolla, and cant complain too much about that. Oh and the parking lot as other reviewers have said is terrible-- what's funny is they actually repainted this lot recently and I thought that would mean they redesigned the layout to make it less dangerous...nope, its the same. HOLD YOUR KID'S HAND the whole time. You have a greater chance of dying walking around that parking lot than pretty much any other activity. Overall: A bit pricey, but quality products, clean, open 24hours, beware of parking lot. read more

What makes this place nice is the salad bar and deli. It is a hidden jewel of lunch places. I enjoy eating lunch here. They have a good selection of salads, soup, hot dishes, and sandwiches to choose from. Plus free wifi. Parking can be hard. read more

This Ralphs location is a bit deceiving. On the outside it looks great. Good location and nice, big shiny store with a wide selection of items. The more I come here, the more I've become frustrated with the over-crowdedness(especially on a Sunday evening), and the less than-stellar customer service. Still if you look at the other choices available in the area, this is one of the better ones for a major grocery chain outlet that carries many products you wouldn't be able to find next door at Trader Joe's, or would be too inconvenienced to drive to the nearest Target to buy. read more

This Ralph's has it all. Drug store, grocery, yogurt, shipping facility and cleaners, Starbucks which I boycott. But to each his own. Kosher section is HUGE!! This is a complete shopping experience. Nothing wrong with the store. But the bike racks are not good at all, my bike was stolen while I was inside the store in broad daylight, they even left my front wheel to it was very obvious that they were thieves, no one stopped them!! Hmmmm! WOW, they have everything. From Kosher foods to beach toys. If you are willing to pay the high prices, you can get just about anything you want here. Patio, Kitchen, Pantry and Dining Room will be well stocked from this store. STARBUCKS, GOLDEN SPOON, PHARMACY and WIFI. Gluten Free foods are marked, but are pricey. They even carry Banquet Drumsticks.... I know, right! read more

I'm not sure the price here is amazing, but among La Jolla grocery stores, this is my go-to. The store is much cleaner than any of the Vons in the vicinity. They have a very impressive kosher and bakery section that has things I really don't see in very many stores. Their sushi (regular and kosher) are surprisingly good quality. Also, their cafe area is very useful for meeting people and eating an ice cream. I find it funny that they have a Starbucks inside when there is a Starbucks store right outside, but then again, I'm not running this store. read more

Once again I tried to shop at this Ralph's, but the single mobility scooter was taken. So I once again, turned around and left. Obviously this store's manager could care less about those of us who cannot walk (even with a cart) this big store. There used to be 3 scooters, 2 have been stolen. Nothing has been done to replace them. I also find the selection of items quite limited. Lots of tomato sauce, but none with basil and oregano...really???? One can get Pledge, Pledge or Pledge if one is looking for furniture oil. Only one true of potato salad. So many things have been limited to Kroger's brand. Need I go on. Once upon a time this was a terrific store...no longer. read more

I am a kosher shopper and I just wanted to comment on how good the Kosher Deli section is. They are constantly adding food items. Lived in UTC for many years, and that's MY Ralphs. Clean, incredible customer service, a huge selection of food, a sushi bar that's the bomb, an olive bar, a salad bar, a deli, a cheese section with any kind of cheese you could want, and the parking is usually very easy. I live in Talmadge/Kensington now, but I won't stop stop going there---I'll take the drive up to La Jolla Village Drive. Oh, and they even have a Starbucks inside the store! read more

Ralphs is a handy store and most of the people who work there are helpful though they are hard to find. This review applies to one cashier only but she reflects store policy. I had three items in a bag and she told me unpleasantly to next time remove the items from the bag. I am handicapped and this is difficult to do. 10 seconds extra help should not be a big deal. read more

I go to the Ralphs La Jolla often and have for for many years now, The last couple of years I love going to the Sushi Bar, because the service and quality here is A PLUS PLUS! . I noticed about a year and a half or so ago that a lot of new employee's started working there at the sushi bar... and one stood out every time I went there. She is a named Lisa. Every time I go there She is so nice and polite (she has an Asian accent but is easy to understand her) The first time I met her, I was not sure what I wanted... She asked if I wanted raw or cooked fish... I wanted the raw... she recommended the sashimi, the yellow tail, salmon and tuna. I tried them all...and they were DELICIOUS. I went back the next day with my wife and grand kids and she, the same lady was working and again as soon as we got there she asked if she could help us.. She answered all our questions and made more recommendations for us all and we were all happy with what she suggested. We noticed her name on her name tag this time, if you go there ask for her (her name is Lisa and she always has a flower in her hair and is ALWAYS friendly and courteous) and she will assist you with pleasure. It is rare to find people who love their job and are willing to go the extra mile for the customers and do it with a "genuine" smile.... Lisa is definitely one of these people. The Sushi is some of the best in town also. I highly recommend trying this place. read more

*** This review is for the PRODUCE DEPARTMENT **** I get great produce at the LA JOLLA Ralphs location. Very Clean - and I am a very, very, very, very picky person. A huge plus is the friendly and helpful staff. I even saw a produce employee personally escort a customer to what she was looking for outside of the department. That's friendly service right there. What's really impressive is that you can tell there are loyal customers who come to this particular Ralph's because I always here a produce employee greet most senior citizens by their first name and they chit chat while they shop for fruits and veggies. This is my "go to place" for produce. Walk into Whole Foods or Sprouts - you'll never get greeted and the only person I've found to help me is the cash register person.
