I've been shopping at this Vons for 5 years now and it's has grown to be one of my places grocery stores to go to. It's really a few members of staff that makes the experience that makes it worth while to come here. Each time I encounter one of my favorite workers, it makes shopping there great. They have all my favorite food items and great deals on the Vons App so that helps to save money on groceries! Staff is friendly and helpful. There is plenty of parking. They are rarely out of product unless it is a free item on the Vons app, but I would expect this. They store is relatively clean. They have some products locked up per company policy but I skip those items and get them online or at other stores to avoid the hassle. The staff does not seem to be a fan of this policy either for what its worth. I rarely need help, but when I ask, the staff will often stop what they are doing to assist. They offer self check out as well as standard check out lines. A great bakery, deli and produce section and they offer daily made sushi as well. The staff mostly seems to care about how the store looks and they seem to enjoy working with one another. read more

Whenever I have so much time to stand in line and write 1 star reviews while managers and staff stand around BSing, I will. It's not busy, theiy're just slow. After changing my regular store to either the other Vons on Balboa or Ralph's in LJV, I decided to give this another try. My bad. Not a single bit of eye contact, smile or greeting from absolutely anyone as I went through the store doing my shopping. Actually cut it short and will finish the big shopping at the aforementioned stores. To make it worse,this time, there are a lot of Vons shopper carts whipping through the aisles again without consideration for real shoppers and whether they need to use the aisle too. At least they were polite and considerate. NOT. Unfortunately I went through self-check so I missed the only friendliness and professionalism in the store - the checkers. Nothing says we don't care about our customers than the lack of professionalism courtesy and friendliness in this store. Horrible ambiance. What a shame. read more

This is the Vons in the big shopping center off Clairmont Drive. It's the same center as Chiles, Outback, and Nordstrom's Rack. BIG TIP! This is a better run, more appealing place to shop for groceries than the similarly sized Vons on Balboa Ave near the Genesee intersection. The people who run the place are a lot friendlier and definitely more helpful than the workers at the Balboa Ave store. And if you shop regularly, I think it's worth driving a little farther for a better store. read more

Grabbed a few snack items here. Found my favorite Nature Valley Pecan Crunch, flamin hot Fritos for a variety of spice snack and crunch. Keylime La Croix is always a good source of water. They don't have these Flamin Hot Fritos back at home at all, not sure why. They are pretty tasty. read more

This place is awful now. Lived in this neighborhood for 38 years and been coming here since I was a kid but I will not patronize this business anymore. They've started locking up their "valuable laundry soap" and I'm not wasting any time in my life waiting for your employees to come unlock the soap. Nothing is more frustrating than to use the self check out. And you need help cause you wanna buy two ears of corn and it won't let you without help. And no help is there. This store has lost my business. I will go elsewhere to buy groceries from now on. To combat shrink and theft at this location, they just installed these locked cabinets in most of their aisles, and you can't touch your items until they're at the register. This is the worst Vons ever. They are always out of the weekly specials and the customer service is atrocious! I think corporate sends the worst employees to this location because they can't fire them. It's the last resort for these idiots.. I mean blatantly rude and disrespectful. They never give me the sale prices and get totally pissed when I tell them to change it. I like this location but they didn't have the milk my mom drinks but ended up picking some items for a get together before leaving San Diego. We managed to pick up some bananas, plates, forks, etc. No mask required here but I would say half of the people wear masks and half don't. I was the one who wore a mask. You never know nowadays. This vons is good. Nothing crazy to brag about. It's my local grocery store. They are out of rotisserie chicken sometimes and occasionally the isles aren't stocked. The ice cream isle never seems to be stocked or maybe i'm going on the wrong days. Other than that parking is somewhat easy. The bathrooms are clean half of the time. The cashiers are pretty nice. The people at the help desk are usually in a good mood. The pastries in the bakery are hit or miss. And so are the foods in the ready to eat section with the spicy fried chicken and mac n cheese. read more

They locked up all of the laundry supplies, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, all of the personal hygiene items!! I'm never, EVER going to wait for an employee at this understaffed Vons to unlock freakin' shampoo. I'll just go to any other store in the area that doesn't treat its customers like criminals. What if I want to read the bottle or try a different product but want to look at it first??! How about you staff your store better and stop forcing people to use self check out, that's probably where all of the "theft" is coming from. Their service was incredibly accommodating, and I was treated with kindness through the whole process, even despite confusion on my end. Well First I come to this Vons because I happen to be in the area and as I walk in There use to be a Wells Fargo Bank inside but now no more !! It use to be convenient because if you needed to make a payment or anything else it would be right there !! Now as I walk through the store I tried to find some help but it was kind of hard !! As I walk down each isle there was no one but in the meat department thankfully there was someone there because I most of the time get my meat here !! It is USDA Choice and it always tastes fresh !!! Good Job Meat Department !! Now Produce is ok and I most of the time have to help myself and there is only one person working every time I come here !! But please get more workers in the store so there is enough help around !! But this is your typical Vons and it is not as busy as the others !! Covid review #107 I had a great experience with the bakery lady today. I was picking up my sister's bday cake. It was not decorated and shes not a decorator, but she did her best and found at least some sprinkles and a pretty dragonfly and butterfly. It turned out beautifully. I usually go to the vons in north park because it is closer to me but decided to stop by this location because I was hungry and usually love the sandwiches from the deli. I am so disappointed and dissatisfied. I asked for a toasted grilled chicken sandwich on wheat bread and they told me they didn't have wheat bread when it was literally right in front of me!! But whatever I got a different bread and asked for my sandwich to be toasted, they put it into the oven for like 2 seconds and then continued to build it when I got into my car I go to take a bite and the sandwich is literally freezing!!! It's so poorly stacked and falling apart. One of the men that was building sandwiches I believe his name was Vincent was so rude!!! He was complaining about having to slice ingredients and refused to make specific sandwiches because he didn't want to slice anything and kept yelling "we don't have that, we don't have that either!!!"
