This ralphs is bigger than the others around, I mean they offer a ton more items when it comes to sister Stores such as; the one in Glendale or DTB (Downtown Burbank) Although there is ample parking, they share the lot with CVS - only one way out on Alameda which jams up. Back to the store, again a variety of items, Mediterranean and Asian aisles are beefed up. They are missing 2 stars because when I arrived, the lady at the hot food, deli counter wasn't too happy that I asked about cooked whole rotisserie chicken, its was about 1030am she said give it 10 mins and the timer only had 4 mins and I said no problem, I'll wait. She must've felt pressured because after she pulled the chickens out, she was very rude when I wished her a nice day! Sorry, I inconvenienced you work today!

There nothing more disgusting then seeing this in the deli case. See picture posted. Customer service has gone down the drain. Can't you come up with a ticket system for deli/bakery. It's not right that a customer waits for help and they help others that came after you. At least step up your game with a clean store. There is no reason not to clean. Do better.

My boyfriend and I have been coming to this Ralphs for years and every time we have been in we have had great service. It's right off of the 5 freeway and in a huge parking lot. They do charge for bags so BYOB or expect to buy some. Usually I come in to purchase balloons for celebrations or household items, since TJ's down the street is my go to for food. I have had a number of their cashiers in the past and they have all been very pleasant. I do wish that they would have taken returns on two bottles of champagne that I had purchased from them. I found them at Trader Joe's down the street a few days later and had hoped to save $10 if we took them back, unopened of course. But they don't take returns on alcohol so it was my mistake for not shopping around first if I wanted a deal. The petite tan-skinned lady with long blonde hair who tends to the balloon and flower section has always been very helpful. I really like how nice she is and how she goes out of her way to make the customer happy. Early last year I was looking for extra boxes to help with a move and I called them and asked if they had any they would be able to save for me. The person I spoke with said they would save some and to come early in the morning to get them. I arrived when they opened, but the morning crew didn't know about the request. However, some large Hispanic gentleman who was stocking the shelves in an aisle offered to give me the boxes he had just flattened. He said they were going to get rid of them anyway. I was so grateful and immediately began dragging the huge box full of flattened boxes out. It was SO heavy, but I was fine dragging it since it was too heavy for anyone to carry. Yet, then this same gentleman who had just offered me the boxes said he would carry it to my car. I told him not to pick it up because it was too heavy to carry. Then, to my amazement, he picked it up with his Hercules-like strength and carried it all the way. Such great service keeps me coming back time and again!

    Expired bison meat at Ralph's

Until now I spend around $1000 a month here but I will stop shopping here thanks to the horrible manager named Lily. I bought ground bison from here using my Ralph's card and I noticed it was DAYS OLD when I got home. I lost my receipt and the workers and horrible manager named Lily refused to exchange the old meat without the receipt and REFUSED TO LOOK AT MY PAST TRANSACTIONS through my Ralph's club card in order to verify that the meat was already old the day I purchased it. VERY CARELESS AND UNHELPFUL PEOPLE! The manager even tried to get us kicked out of the store just for demanding an exchange on their old meat that I used my Ralph's card to purchase. My fiancé told the manager Lily that she deserves to be fired and the manager Lily HAD THE NERVE TO LAUGH ABOUT BEING FIRED AND SAID OUT LOUD THAT GETTING FIRED WOULD BE LIKE GOING ON VACATION. Ridiculous. Ralph's just lost my business.

Management and staff were rude and not helpful.

The only thing that has been a bit of a hassle has been renting their rug cleaners. The wait is often long (been stuck waiting for assistance for more than 30 mins on multiple occasions). I was also given a faulty rug cleaner that I had to come back and have replaced, which was kind of annoying to have to lug it back to the store and then once again wait to get a properly working one. It was honestly uncomfortable and unnecessary. Who else would I ask.. All I needed was help correcting a pricing error. It was Sunday around 3 PM and the store wasn't even busy, so I don't understand the rude attitude. If you're assigned to self-checkout, assisting customers with issues is literally part of the job. Customer service makes a difference, even during small interactions. This one just left a bad impression.

This store has greatly improved. This place was so bad for a moment when I started coming here…read moreagain almost 3 years ago now. But what has changed is the rude staff are all gone (in my experience), everyone who is there now is friendly or at least neutral to me. Better than rude or awful. The speed at which checkout moves is fast or at least acceptable now. It used to be extremely slow, but it's greatly improved. You also used to close the self check out relatively early which now I notice you do NOT, which I am VERY appreciative of. Frankly I just can do it much faster than anyone and I prefer it to get in and out quickly, so thank you for keeping it in place and open later than you used to, that keeps the human cashier lines manageable. I'll buy wine so that's why I may need the human to help me out. But nothing more annoying to me than it being 10pm and there's 1 mile long line with full carts and all I need is 2-3 things, well that experience pretty much doesn't happen anymore which is very much appreciated. I find your evening staff to be notably most friendly, they're talkative but not obnoxious or slow and I feel comfortable coming through the line if I have to. There's a couple annoying things, like a few annoyingly narrow spots you have in extremely busy areas, I can't figure out why you have so much stuff directly in front of the cereal + chips aisle. People cannot pass through there easily, every single time I come here I bump into someone, like easily a 99% success rate that I'm going to crash into someone. That's not good. Same goes for too much stuff down the middle of the cheese/deli meat section near the bank, makes passing nearly impossible at times, then again near the self checkout you always have a lot of liquor which makes passing difficult. Customers don't like having to pretend it's a stop sign intersection to pass by, we just want to shop not have an island of liquor impeding progress. Another thing that bugs me is this is the only Ralph's that doesn't put clearance tags on the frozen food section stuff. Why? I've gotten mixed answers. One guy told me it's because the tags don't stay on because the packaging is wet from the freezer, well that's BS because other Ralph's stores do it just fine and the stickers aren't coming off. But another time I saw a guy at the self checkout take something from a woman who said she didn't want it anymore, so he went directly to the clearance door and just chucked it in there. So basically he didn't have time or care to find the true location (fair, he's working self checkout not restock) and so it ends up in the clearance spot, when it's not actually priced as so. Which makes people just buy it because they think it so on sale when it's not! A third time, I asked how to even know what the clearance price is? The guy told me "you find out it at the register". Well I want to know now, not when you ambush me into it and then we find out it's not on discount and you just throw it back into the discount section to repeat the cycle. Isn't that insane? Ultimately though the 2 gripes aren't going to keep me out of here anytime soon, I just thought it may be worth explaining.

Imagine rows of radicchio, rainbow chard, exquisite endive, squash blossoms, sunchokes and artichokes, fennel with their fronds tangled in long red chilies surrounded by pungent herbs like perilla, lovage, tarragon. An extra star just for that. But... My only gripe is their weekly Saturday BBQ. Through the years I have enjoyed both kinds of ribs, the brisket, sausages, turkey and chicken that they cook and smoke right outside in the parking lot. Even if you don't see it, you'll smell it within a couple blocks. I can't think of a better way to promote a bbq business and Handy Market knows it. They're counting on all the new customers who get lured in by the intoxicating scent of grilled meats on live fire to try this sad, sorry excuse that they call BBQ. All the meats are dry, tasteless and overcooked. They do not season any of the meat, not even a lick of salt. They want you to buy their sugary bbq sauce and baste them on the grill. Meaning you still have to finish cooking it at home but it was tasty enough and the price was low so it was worth doing for many years. Lately though, it's been expensive and inedible. The quality of all the meat has become sus and I was sold the driest beef ribs with texture like leather, that they probably dug up from the back of a freezer and a smelly turkey leg that's left over from like, Thanksgiving. My homemade bbq sauce could not save either meat and suffice to say I will never order barbecue from here again. What's happened to you, Handy Mart? I just can't believe you've slipped so far. A lot of the premade food is also great, and you can tell they put a lot of thought into the selection of their items. The flavor of most of their items is as good as anywhere else, and there are serious savings to be found there. That said, the other side of the coin is that the store is not always efficient. It takes them a long time to update their pricing once they're out of an item, and when they're running great deals, I'll regularly get excited to see there's a huge sale, look for the item the sale is referring to, and find that the item's been out of stock already for days. This has happened to me at least 10 times. There was also a period of several months in the past year where the entire dairy aisle was off limits due to an issue with the building, which made it impossible to buy any dairy from them for months at a time. Not to pile on, but it would be much appreciated if they kept one more person on register at any given time. The lines can get really long. All that said, I really do like ALDI, and I hope they can correct a bit and take some of the constructive criticism from a person who's a big fan of what they do. I'll be back soon!
