What's going on with Rally's milkshakes? As of lately every time I come to Rally's the employees say that there's No milkshakes or that the machine broke down. I've even come at different times of the day and every time I want to buy a milkshake their response is that there's no milkshakes, but yet they have ice cream for their soft serve cones! Isn't milkshakes made with ice cream? Can't they be honest and say that they're not going to sell anymore milkshakes? So that I won't waste my time to try to buy a milkshake at this Rally's. I normally never eat rally's or bother to make a trip to purchase their food. I was actually craving their fries and although the drive through was congested, and always is, I still wanted to get some fries. On my way, I saw they had a 4 for $4 deal and thought what a great deal!! So I pull up and ask for a 4 for $4 meal deal with some mozzarella sticks and for some reason my total came out to $11. The mozzarella sticks was $1.99. The drive thru dude messed up the order and thought I asked for the 2 for $6 deal. Basically I try to correct the order and I was given attitude and was told to make another round and wait 20 minutes just to order again. So I recommend if you ever want to eat at the place expect to break your order down and communicate as if you are talking to your toddler nieces and nephews. Or just avoid this s*** hole. read more

Rally's is a childhood favorite. One of the few fast food places where you can get seasoned fries. They are definitely next level. Plus, I do feel that they are different from other fast food chains. Since, going back to school in the neighborhood. I had to make sure that I went to Rally's for lunch. I tried their chicken bites with fries and it was good. I thought that it would of been a little bigger but for the price it was a good decent size. It only cost $3. I saw that they now do ice cream cones or cups. I can't recall if they had them the last time I went to a Rallys, but I did decide to order a swirl cone which is half vanilla and half chocolate. After tasting the one I ordered, I wish I could have gotten my money back. I thought it was going to be rich and creamy. The chocolate side tasted a little weird and the vanilla side lacked vanilla flavor. Overall, it was a sad day to eat a bland tasteless ice cream cone. My chicken and fries were tasty but it wasn't just the ice cream that was bland. Customer service was abrupt and rushed. Bam wham thank you mam service, but without the thank you. I would definitely eat here again, but I do hope that the next cashier is a little friendlier. read more

That was the laugh track in my head when I called Rally's corporate office about a "situation" they were having at the Long Beach location. Yes, this was years ago, but I'll get to that in a bit. Rally's was doing the promotion where one called an 800 number and did a phone survey and received a code for a free burger on the next visit (again, years ago so do go looking for your receipts.) And as the challenge was there, some smart entrepreneurs stepped up to the offer. There was a small group of "free of housing needs" clients that were retrieving any stray receipts from customers that chose to litter. Right, win - win, civic duty cleaning up litter, I give them a few stars for being that nice. And then one-of-five (I worked in a Borg reference) would walk across the street and use the pay phone to make a half-dozen 800-number calls, copy the codes on the receipts, and the Five would get their free burgers. Well, occasionally, patrons would freak out because the "free people" would go from 5 to a pretty big flock and it looked like a village. Sadly to say, I felt the need to call corporate and let them know, as much as I liked the spirit of the offer, I was there when a scuffle happened and it could go bad and fast. First the scuffle, then someone loses an eye, isn't that how Dr. Cosby put it? And I for one, being a Long Beachian, would never want the police to have to intervene over free burgers. The person at corporate (Gonzales) had me repeat my story -- twice. I don't think anyone had thought that far out. I was really just considering "safety" and I was quite surprised when I was offered a meal card for my "thoughtfulness." On my last few visits (2011) I had pure intent to use the meal ticket. I found the ticket again today but unlike the other plans, now I know I just won't ever use it. I make that crazy Eddy Murphy laugh every time I think of that day and the conversation with the corporate representative "wha... they're doing what?" "wha..." Service: They have two drive through ports so you can accommodate whether the driver is ordering or the passenger. It seems like every time I pull up to order the worker tells me to hold on for a minute, maybe they are under staffed? There is also a walk up counter to order your food. The food is in your hands really quick. They're open pretty late. They haven't messed up my order yet so full marks on service. Ambiance/Decor: You can only eat outdoors where you'll possibly have to go to war with a legion of pigeons to protect your food. Plenty of tables with bird droppings to sit at. Its on PCH in Long Beach... Its ghetto so you won't have a shortage of homeless people asking you for money or food. Great for small group of friends or dining solo. Honestly, in your car is possibly the best place to dine if you're planning to eat here. Food: The food here is slightly above average. For some reason the burgers here don't taste as "processed" as other places like McDonalds and Burger King etc. They have great deals on them too with decent portions. Burgers are fairly hearty and the lettuce they use is pretty crisp. I really like their chicken sandwich because its "light" as in you don't feel like you just ingested a chunk of cardboard. Their "Deep Sea Double" which is like a fish filet burger actually taste like fish! I think their fries are the main attraction. Fully loaded fries include melted cheese and bits of bacon with their seasoned fries which is half a meal in itself. They also have small selection of milkshakes that are pretty delicious, they aren't super watery like most milkshakes I get from other places but that might be because its completely processed. Conclusion: A meal here will set you back $5-9. If I were tired of In N Out's small selection I would head here before I stepped foot in a McDonalds or something. They have some awesome deals for 2 burgers for under $5. Rallys is your "better than average" fast food burger chain but won't be blowing your mind. I have had "bad luck" repeatedly when visiting this location. Normally, after a couple bad experiences I wouldn't return. However, the proximity to my home makes it the most convenient fast food option around, so I've given it more chances than usual. My encounters have included; extraordinarily long wait times, receiving incorrect or incomplete orders, food that was under/over cooked and in one case mutilated, as well as being overcharged/shortchanged. Rally's also known as Checkers! Is a decent burger joint! Their menu also includes more then burgers! I'm not a huge fan of their spicy coating fries, but they are OK. My favorite is their Big Buford, and chili fries. I can eat that all the time. With all the choices out their Rally's is a safe bet! This is a corner location, some times it can be difficult to get in. But their service has always been great, and they do not allow this place to look like the surrounding area! As far as fast food restaurants go. This place is comparable and better than Jack in the Box. Their value menu is probably better than any other fast food burger place as well. The only time I've ever been here I went through the drive through and got a couple burgers that were sub $2.00. They were all fairly good for the price, but as far as price/quality goes for fast food joints go, Taco Bell blows everybody out of the water. In general these Rally's Hamburger joints are almost always in bad neighborhoods too. Check yourself before you wreck yourself and watch your back. The 2 for $4 deal is what I always get with an order of fries. Great bang for the buck. The burgers are great, not as amazing as say In n out, but still great. Fries are seasoned very well. After leaving CSULB campus around 10 PM, I wondered to myself, what is open this late, is on the way home, and is really good? I remember once a year ago I visited Rally's and thought it was alright so I thought I would go again and try something new. Upon arriving at Rally's, I expected to order chicken nuggets again as I had before. To my satisfaction, everything on the menu sounded really good. After a minute or two of self debating, I decided to order the Roadhouse Burger and their 5 piece Asian Style chicken wing combo. On the ride home, I kept smelling the wings and fries the whole way and they were particularly appetizing but I forced myself to wait until I got back before starting to eat. Upon arrival, I immediately ate the fries, which were delicious, and then the wings, also delicious. The Roadhouse burger which I had to finish was, you guessed it, delicious. I will definitely come back to Rally's for another late night visit and will try something else on the menu, which will probably also be delicious. The only complaint I have about my visit were the homeless men sitting outside the drive thru window that asked for change and made my wait for my meal uncomfortable. The 4 for 3 include one of the sandwich + a drink + small fries + apple pie, its one of the best deal of the summer. They also have this great garlic bacon steakburger. I used to love Rally's growing up, but then they all disappeared, and I forgot about them. So I was thrilled to find this one in Long Beach. Service was courteous and speedy (two drive-thrus doesn't hurt). The burgers are the same as they ever were. The shredded lettuce reminded me of Fat Burger, only reasonably-sized. And their unique fries are the most memorable item on the menu. They're crispier and seasoned more than most others, probably the best thing they make. But the chicken sandwich was a disappointment. I'll just say it: it smelled old. Maybe it was the mayo, or the fryer grease, or the chicken itself, but something was off about the whole thing. I took two bites (one bite too many), and that was enough, into the trash. As fond as I was of Rally's back in the day, that experience was enough to sour me on returning. I used to go to a Rally's in Buena Park ages ago and not sure if it's still there. What I do remember their food was pretty good. Today I got a #6 which is a Double Rally Burger,Fries, and a drink. What i got was a double cheeseburger no bigger than the ones you get at Burger King for a dollar. So while the burger was good, the 7 bucks and change for my combo that i paid wasn't worth it. Place is decent, it's not all that expensive either. I come here often because it's so close, usually just to order some fries and go. On occasion I go with the burgers, but only when I'm to lazy to eat anywhere else. The loaded fries are never a let down, though they're pretty sick looking if you're picky haha. All in all, often a last resort or if it's on the way, reasons like that are the only times I eat here. But again, just the fries themselves are the best!! Like Chris said, I loved Rally's when I was a kid. When I moved to a different area in SD, there were none around so it became a thing of the past. Now that I'm in Long Beach, I decided to relive my childhood by stopping at this one on PCH. First few visits were alright. The food wasn't anything special but I received coupons in the mail so it became a cheap alternative when I was short on ideas of what to eat. That being said, if you asked me to come back again, I'll yell, HELL NO! Came here this past weekend with the drunken munchies and Rally's ended up being the worst decision of my night. Got a regular burger for me and my friend and as I started eating it, it didn't taste all that great. I decided I would try a couple more bites since I was really hungry. I usually love coming here, but the last few days I went, I keep having this same cashier named KEVIN. He is a bit rude, or it does come off that way. He just stands there and says nothing. Like, am I supposed to pay yet? or what? Is that everything in my order? or what? He just talks with his coworkers while I am sitting in my car waiting stupidly for him to tell me what my charges are and whether or not I have everything in my order.
