I've usually had great experiences with the seafood counter at this Raley's. Went in to take advantage of a sale on fresh Dungeness crab. Asked the gentleman at the counter about how much each crab weighed-- he had no idea. I asked for one crab and had to point out that he grabbed one with a missing claw. Any crab lover knows the claws are the yummiest part! But, the part that got me was when I asked him to please crack & clean the crab. "We don't do that." A seafood counter that doesn't offer to crack & clean a whole crab? That's a first. So it looks like I'll be cracking & cleaning my own crab tonight. read more

I rarely get to go to Raley's because it's normally out of my way but when I am in the neighborhood, I love to drop in just to see what they have. I especially love going to their deli because they have great ready-made food. During this visit, I actually needed some diced tomatoes for my spaghetti but I also bought some taro flavored drinks because I love taro-flavored drinks and I've tried this brand before too. Rarely did I think I'd be writing a review for a grocery store, but here I am. My experiences at this store have accumulated over the years. And while this store and location are great, I really REALLY have to shout out the amazing staff. Whether its the people working at the deli, the bakery, and the butcher, I've had pretty great interactions with all of them. Today though, I have to shout out Wendy. Wendy is an associate that told me about the rewards, told me how to clip coupons and convinced me that it would be a good deal. That was years ago, but recently, over Memorial Day weekend, I saw Wendy again. She was running self checkout and we exchanged typical small talk revolving a long weekend (I was camping) and once I returned to checkout, I was very much focused on getting everything scanned and ready to go since I was already late. I needed Ice and cash, and to not forget the graham crackers (again). Well in the whirlwind, I did forget something. I was so focused on the ice, I left 20$ cash on the machine. I'd pulled it and left it. I only remembered it when I was an hour outside of town and it was a bummer because no one wants to start a weekend camp trip losing their firewood money. Figuring I'd made someone else lucky was the only way I could see the silver lining. Well, I stopped by my raleys again, grabbing basic necessities and snacks when I decided to risk self checkout again only to see Wendy. I chatted again, happy to see her and I mentioned jokingly that I didn't really trust myself at self checkout because I forgot to pull the cash then, imagine my surprise to hear from Wendy that they track that, and that if someone logs it in, they could return it to me. I was floored, but pointed the machine out, told her the day and she was able to verify that it happened, that it was logged and mine. I'm still a little verklempt because It's not the first time that I've forgotten things at checkout, but it was the first time I mentioned it to an associate and the response wasn't "well it is what it is." No, Wendy went and made a mildly bad day a good one. She assisted and made me feel secure grocery shopping. It made me rethink all the interactions I had at this store, and truly this Raleys has had a great relationship with me, my family, and if they treat other customers like they have me, then I feel incredibly lucky and touched to have them in the community. Wendy, and Raleys, has won my loyalty. read more

This location has become my favorite Raleys, and I've been to almost all the Raleys in the area; just need to remember to check in next time, At any rate, I love this location for the following reasons. First, the store is spacious. Yes, the North Hills location is spacious as well but not as spread out as this one. I like that it's takes me a good 2 minutes to leisurely stroll from one end (let's say, the bakery) to the other, where the ice cream freezer is against the wall and the fruits and vegetables are. This may not be appealing to some people but hey, I like to get my exercise in when I can! Plus, the aisles are wider, in my opinion, than in other locations. Second, they are usually stocked up on what I need, whether it be meats, household items or fruits and vegetables, but especially their promotional items. Third, the cashiers are always friendly. As for other staff, I've only had the pleasure to interact with the lady at the the floral center and she was just a delight. I usually don't have a complaint about this particular store... until today. I am a disabled woman who uses EBT and it's very rare I go out in public anymore specifically for the reason i am writing this review. I was at register #6 and did not have enough food stamps so I had to return a few items. The cashier #598126 became very rude and kept saying "you can't cover this cash $$?" Which was done at least twice. The customer behind me who seemed to be a friend of the cashiers began to complain and the cashier responded with "well she should have calculated everything better so I wouldn't have to deal with this" or something to that effect. They thought I didn't hear them but I did. And now I don't even want to bother going there ever again. OMG!!! This place is awesome!! There is a sizzling wok inside, I bought a chunk of BBQ pork they cut for me. So good. If you drink, they have a large variety of alcoholic beverages. Clean, neat, well-organized, and well-stocked, this Raley's stands out even among other Raley's stores. I like their specialty and natural foods selection. For example, I like being able to get real, honest-to-goodness pickles here. I can count on their produce being fresh and high-quality. Their selection of wines, beers, and other alcohol is mind-boggling. Their fresh breads are a favorite. Restrooms here are clean and convenient. There are a few self-check registers, which tend to work well without making you wait for an attendant. Pharmacy on-site. Above all, the checkers here are genuinely friendly and helpful. Overall Raleys is a fairly good grocery store. It's clean 99.9% of the time. Most of the employees are nice. Since Covid the service at Raleys has become average at best. Nothing really stands out in comparison to other grocery stores. Prices are too high for what you get. Yes I know, inflation but TBH there are some smaller chains that haven't raised their prices as much as this store. I just think as a consumer if you're going to raise & keep prices so high at least offer better service to your customers. 12+ years ago this was THE BEST STORE in Manteca. Raleys is an outstanding store in every regard except prices. Their prices are consistently higher than Safeway, Smith's and especially Winco. I only buy from Raley's items that are on sale (loss leaders). What prompted this review was their "sale price" on Rosarita refried beans prominently displayed on an end cap for $2.79. This is reflective of their pricing throughout the store. Outrageous! If not for the outlandish prices, Raley's is at least 4 stars. Considering how important prices are in these times of inflation, Raley's needs to be more competitive! read more

The other night I went to this location to buy a bottle of lotion. I went to self check out as I didn't see any lanes open. The attendant there was obviously busy helping a customer with a return or something. I scanned the item, swiped my card and entered my pin and was stuck on a please wait screen. I waited for a few mins on the "please wait for attendant" screen before I gave up and went to another kiosk. Same issue. This time I waved at the attendant, a tall blonde male who told me to just "hit the pay now button". I tried to tell him I've done all that and even hit the button while he watched. He said nothing and walked away continuing to help his customer. I just exited the store and left the item. Won't be shopping here again. read more

This was a nice place to stop for a quick trip! Very clean, well organized, and well stocked. It wasn't crowded when I want in so it made for a fast stop and was easy to grab my small list of what I needed plus some extras. I'd stop in again for when I only have a small list or need to make a quick trip. For the pick-up service (ECART): Arranged for pick up on line and was notified to come three days later. Showed up at the appointed time and waited two hours and forty minutes. Some people who showed later got their orders while I was waiting many others were waiting, too. Raley's Manager was contacted to complain and he explained that they sub-contract the pick up service, so Raley's wasn't responsible for the delay. They could have notified me to come later! I ordered 14 items. They did not fill 3 of the items and they substituted 3 items, without letting me know in advance. 1 item, which I did not order, was listed on the receipt but not found in our order bag. They did NOT notify me in advance that they were making substitutions so I could approve or refuse them. The cost of this "service' was $5.95. Plus the $5.00 for the item I did not receive. For a $35.00 order! Get a better sub-contractor Raley's! read more

The store is clean and attractively laid out. The staff is pleasant and helpful so five stars for them as well. BUT someone needs to talk to Corporate about their bathrooms. Fine foods and a clean well kept grocery store. I can always find the gluten free products that i need for my son. It is pricey but it is nice to know that 99% of the things I need will not be out of stock like they are quite often at Walmart grocery and other grocery stores. The produce is fresh and there is a large amount of organic produce. They always have a great variety of tomatoes and I can always find awesome heirloom tomatoes there in the summer. They have an amazing cheese selection and if you know me I LOVE my cheese. I can always find something great here. It doesn't have the variety and stock that you will find at Wedge Cheese shop or Whole Foods but I can usually find a triple cream brie that is pretty awesome. Their wine selection is good too and if you buy six or more you get a discount. Love Raleys. Because of this store I don't have to go to Whole Foods very often. read more

New remodel looks very refreshing! The aisles are clean again and it feels welcoming. Walking past the bakery the display cases could be more attractive. Self serve is easier to have when you do not have staff to help with an item in the case. Floral area has a good variety of planted flowers as well as the typical store cut flowers. Their delivery service is great, but I learned to never order from their deli again. The first time I ordered small sandwiches that were pretty tasteless and started molding after only three days in my fridge. The second time I ordered a regular sandwich (an Italian variety) for home delivery and again, it had little taste. But get this, I bit into human hair! Yuck! It cost about $8.00 and I was quite upset about having to toss most of the sandwich out. Where are the inspectors? Also, the deli person to called me beforehand to check the order was not too polite and the tone of her voice gave me the impression she didn't like working there. My advice is to avoid their deli at all costs and just buy regular groceries. The delivery driver was very friendly and he gave me a discount code to use in the future. I have been shopping at the Raley's on Fair Oaks Blvd and Walnut, in Carmichael, since they opened in the seventies. Over the years I have noticed a steady decline in the level of service. The can't be bothered to stock Grissini breadsticks in the bakery area, yet the other stores in the area such as Belair and other Raleys have a full supply. Today I picked up my prescription drug order. I requested the amount be increased to a 90 day supply and after five days I picked up my order and they filed to increase the amount to the 90 day supply, I called my doctor who assured me that the increased amount had been approved. Unfortunately this is not the first time this has happened. read more

Raley's eCart delivery is the worst service. I'm never using it again. We tried it for the first time and 1/3 of our order was MISSING yet we were charged for it. So about $100 worth of items just not there. And we received apples that were bruised and peppers that were literally rotten. Not usable. Not sure if there are better services, but Raley's is a FAIL. The grosherey is fantastic. The Bakerey and Caffe/Delli items are below average. The checkout staff is exceptional. The produce is great and the selection is better than most groceries. The natural food section has a lot of hard to find items at decent prices. It has saved me many trips across town to Whole Foods. If I can't find something unique for baking like dried currents or alternative flours for example, Raley's will save the day. Unfortunately, their bakery items are consistently dry and lack flavor. We have had decent luck with their cakes but other every day items are disappointing. The sandwiches have gone downhill recently. Do not order anything with avocado on it! They squeeze it out of a pouch. Ick! I can't tell you how gross that stuff is. The bacon is dry, pale and flavorless. I had to throw out my last sandwich because it tasted so awful. If you want a latte or a hot cocoa on the run this is not the place. The last few times the person operating the espresso machine seemed like they had no idea what they were doing. I recently had to give up b/c I waited over 15 minutes while the employee tried to figure out how to make drinks for the two people in line in front of me. Coffee at Raley's is convenient and I don't expect an exceptional brew but if I have to wait a long time it doesn't even have convenience going for it. You would be better off hitting the drive through at Starbucks next door. We like buying groceries here but the other parts of the store need at lot of improvement. read more

Raley's has the best selection of natural products if you don't want to venture to whole foods or you need to do more shopping than the co op can provide. They have the full line of Organic Valley dairy products that I LOVE. They also have numerous isles devoted to gluten free and/or minimally processed foods. The organic produce is still mostly from Mexico and since I'd rather have local the Co Op is my go to place. They do seem to be the most expensive grocery store but the selection and convenience are worth it. read more

I Love the ease and convenience of this store. For the most part the quality is great. I was horrifically surprised however, that the Raley's Deli, pumpkin pies we purchased for Thanksgiving, didn't have the same quality crust as the quiches we have come to love. They were awful, and reminded me of a tough dog biscuit. I needed a hacksaw to cut through it. The custard was the only edible portion of the pie. Use the same pie crust as the quiche and you'll have a winner! read more
