I have been shopping at Raley's on Mayberry Drive for 22 years. For most of that time, it was an…read moreexcellent store: the shelves were always fully stocked thanks to night restocking, and there were always plenty of checkers and deli staff to assist customers. The deli offered a wide variety of items, making it a reliable stop for fresh food. And the produce was top notch. However, over the past two years, the shopping experience has changed significantly. There are now too few clerks in the deli and at the checkout lanes, which makes it harder to get help and slows down the checkout process. The quality of the produce has also declined dramatically, and the deli selection has shrunk. Currently, the shelves in the produce department are never fully stocked. And in some instances the shelves and produce sections are completely empty - just like during the pandemic. But their prices have increased and are very similar to that of Whole Foods. Now, please understand this has nothing to do with the people that work in this store. They are always kind and polite and willing to help anyway they can. The problem is there aren't people to get the job done. In some instances, they have someone manning the self checkout lanes as well as trying to be an overflow cashier and only 1 person in the deli. Because of this, I have switched to shopping at Whole Foods. Even though it's a longer drive, the difference is worth it. Whole Foods has an abundance of staff in every department and at the checkout lanes, ensuring that customers are helped quickly. Their produce quality is far superior to Raley's, and the prices are about the same. Their meat and fresh fish cases are also outstanding and the staff is always polite making the overall shopping experience much better. I'm not sure what happened to Raleys on Mayberry Drive? But it's not good. Perhaps it's a corporate policy decision and all Raleys stores are like this. If that's the case, it was a poor corporate decision.

Anna assists me almost every time I visit, and she is a absolute joy. She always has a genuine smile on her face and possesses the best attitude. Unfortunately, my experience at the deli counter recently was the exact opposite. I went to order a sandwich and, as a first-timer, didn't realize there was a paper form I needed to fill out first. I stood waiting for assistance, and a staff member named Teri walked up, mumbled something, and immediately started to walk away. Because I couldn't hear her, I politely asked her to repeat herself. Teri responded with an incredibly dismissive attitude, acting as though asking for clarification was a major inconvenience. She then repeated, "You need to fill out the paper," speaking very condescendingly, as if I were unable to understand basic instructions. Even after I explained that I had never ordered a sandwich here before and simply didn't know the process, her attitude remained hostile. It was an incredibly uncomfortable and off-putting interaction. If it weren't for Anna completely turning my mood around at checkout per usual, I would have walked out incredibly frustrated. Management has a real gem in Anna, but they desperately need to address the customer service standards and basic courtesy at the deli counter.

Heck it's very likely you'll find A, B, and C it's just not a guarantee and it's also likely that it will be a different flavor or brand. You are guaranteed to find something amazing at a great price that you wouldn't have had the opportunity to try otherwise.
