I have been shopping at Raley's on Mayberry Drive for 22 years. For most of that time, it was an excellent store: the shelves were always fully stocked thanks to night restocking, and there were always plenty of checkers and deli staff to assist customers. The deli offered a wide variety of items, making it a reliable stop for fresh food. And the produce was top notch. However, over the past two years, the shopping experience has changed significantly. There are now too few clerks in the deli and at the checkout lanes, which makes it harder to get help and slows down the checkout process. The quality of the produce has also declined dramatically, and the deli selection has shrunk. Currently, the shelves in the produce department are never fully stocked. And in some instances the shelves and produce sections are completely empty - just like during the pandemic. But their prices have increased and are very similar to that of Whole Foods. Now, please understand this has nothing to do with the people that work in this store. They are always kind and polite and willing to help anyway they can. The problem is there aren't people to get the job done. In some instances, they have someone manning the self checkout lanes as well as trying to be an overflow cashier and only 1 person in the deli. Because of this, I have switched to shopping at Whole Foods. Even though it's a longer drive, the difference is worth it. Whole Foods has an abundance of staff in every department and at the checkout lanes, ensuring that customers are helped quickly. Their produce quality is far superior to Raley's, and the prices are about the same. Their meat and fresh fish cases are also outstanding and the staff is always polite making the overall shopping experience much better. I'm not sure what happened to Raleys on Mayberry Drive? But it's not good. Perhaps it's a corporate policy decision and all Raleys stores are like this. If that's the case, it was a poor corporate decision. read more

Smaller neighborhood feel, prices are comparable to most other local supermarkets, just a tad high. Decent bakery and meat departments and the meat department offers free knife sharpening which is awesome. They also have a good produce department with a decent selection of organic products. One exception is NEVER buy their avocados because they are consistently overripe and bruised. I eat avocados every day and know how to buy good ones so trust me on this. Management I've spoken to doesn't seem to understand that avocados must be shipped when they are light green and hard. Shoppers need to buy them two to three days prior to needing. The Raley's app has improved significantly. Overall a nice neighborhood grocery. Three and a half stars read more

The pharmacy at this store is hot trash. The people who work there are apathetic and are only willing to do the bare minimum when pushed to do so. You can tell by the way they interact with customers that they are burned out. I don't know the circumstances of their employment, but I can tell you that it has nothing to do with the people coming in to fill prescriptions and pay them money, so maybe take it out on someone else. read more

Again I had the most wonderful shopping experience at the Raleys on Mayberry Street. The cashier Ophelia was extremely helpful and opened the lane for people with disabilities. She had the most pleasant demeanor and her kindness was so refreshing! I must reiterate that I completely enjoy my shopping experience at this particular Raleys. Thankyou Ophelia for all that you do. Stopped in to get a couple half gallons of ice cream. Sunnyside brand was on sale. All you had to do was scan the QR code with your phone to have the sale price loaded into your Raley's app. Easier said than done, because the Wi-Fi in the store is almost nonexistent and I attempted for over five minutes to get the coupon to load to my Raleys account. I gave up and went to self check out, thinking someone there could adjust the price. Well, there was no one manning self check out, so I scanned my items and clicked the Cancel order to get someone to show up. Someone did come over and grudgingly gave me the sale price telling me I had to scan the QR code, which I had already done six times, but it failed to load on my phone because of poor Wi-Fi in the store. So I'm thinking everything's going to go well now because I have the sale price rung up and I put in my credit card and the machine gets stuck in processing, processing, processing and reverts back to start scanning. I give up and left. I'm on my way to Safeway to buy ice cream. read more

FRIGID!!!!! My husband and I went to Raley's to do a lot of shopping and left with less than half of what we needed. The store was absolutely freezing, so over-airconditioned that we fled! It is summer weather, and people are wearing tee shirts and cotton pants. Why would Raley's want to duplicate an Arctic environment? We went on to complete out shopping at Whole Foods, appropriately climatized. read more

Raley's pharmacy on Mayberry is the worst pharmacy! Every time I have a prescription, it takes days and you can never talk to them by phone. Even if you get through, they will put you on hold forever and then they will tell you you'll receive a call back which never comes. Do yourself a favor and try somewhere else! read more

Went into rayleys pharmacy 04/22/2024 to pick up medication prescription. There's a pharmacy technician that was showing distainfull behavior twards me with a pharmacist that morning ,calling me crazy for no reason just because his insecurity go to him calling names and breaking the code of ethics he has the blonde shaggy hair ,he's not very nice ,as well as the pharmacist with shorter blonde Har showing distainfull behavior there both disrespectful they don't have compassion what so ever other than that everyone else besides them in pharmacy and other employees are all good . read more

So I'm moving to Reno and I see that this is the closet store to my new home. It's a combo grocery and pharmacy which is awesome. I went there the first time a few days ago and was blown away, and the food was very fresh and many organic choices. When I was leaving I noticed two special parking spots and no they were not handicapped ones, they were get ready; E Parking, I was like what?? I had/ have never seen that before. Huge wine and beer selection. Love the produce section. Also it is located in a nice plaza next to a nail salon I frequent, a Wells Fargo, and a Raley's gas station where I get a discount with my something extra points. read more

Used to be our fav for about 3 years before we moved to Sparks. They were always great. Always friendly and efficient. Bakeries are always yummy. Don't remember any bad experience, and you know we are easy too ;) I used them for delivery recently to an office, the packing person called me to see if any specific flavor I preferred and also politely let me know what the replacement option was since the original item was not available, that was nice. read more

My in-laws live nearby and, every major holiday, we come for a home-stay and act like we live here. Raley's is a great warm premium grocery store that we treat as a staple. They have the best ciabatta bread in both states - In NV and I've not found any better in CA! It's crusty and well seasoned - great for any use - breakfast, lunch or a snack. Produce is fresh and in great condition. Many options, broad variety. Hot prepared food is tasty. We prefer coming here for chicken breast tenders vs McD. Seasonal products are always interesting to peruse. Like cute Christmas, Halloween or July 4th decor. We love this store! read more

It's the neighborhood grocery store. Probably one of the older ones in town, it's certainly the smallest. And most of the time it seems the priciest. Because it's locked into its space and is small this store doesn't have the selection of the other Raleys in town. But for quick milk runs and nice fresh produce, it 's your spot. A benefit to being small is how easy it is to get in and out of the lot and you don't have to carry your groceries too far to the car. They did a remodel inside a couple of years ago and an exterior face lift last fall. It is always a neat and clean store. read more

It's the closest and easiest store for me to pop into. I don't mind paying more for quality food, and good customer service. Unfortunately this store has really gone down in quality in the past year. I can't buy potatoes, garlic or onions here anymore because they are consistently bad. The garlic looks like it's gotten wet, and they dried it out (rotten cloves in the bunch) The potatoes in the bags are 90% spoiled, the onions appear to have gotten wet as well. I guess for me if I have to buy some stuff at one store and some stuff at another, it's just easier to drive a bit further and not worry about bad produce. The clerks are okay, but they seem to be really busy, and don't have time for a smile, or to even look up as they are ringing your items. I've been coming to this store almost 2 years, and there is no recognition, no hi, how you doing, nothing. I guess I've come to appreciate a little more, and it's lacking here. Honestly if you're a college student, raleys can get a bit expensive. But if you time it right and see what's on sale, sometimes it can actually be better than other grocery stores. The produce is actually in good condition. Not much rotting going on. The deli section is my favorite. Freshly made chicken strips and corn dogs! And if they don't have anything in stock you can always ask to freshly make something you want and they'll gladly do it for you. In conclusion, if you have the money and you actually want some decent groceries, Raleys is a great place for that. read more

When we moved here from Connecticut recently we looked for a good grocery store. I really like Raley's and I especially enjoy the store on Mayberry. With the virus scare everywhere, this morning was a great example. My husband and I shopped pretty early and I was worried I'd have to go to a second store to complete my list given all the out of stocks people talk about. I was able to get virtually all my list and Nikky, the cashier, helped us organize our packing our bags based on like items. She really went the extra mile. We used to love these steaks with spinach, peppers and blue cheese and bought them all the time. Often buying all they had available which I guess is why they felt the need to produce more and more. However, the last few times they have changed the cheese without notice. The first time this happened we thought the cheese had gone bad... "it happens" we thought. $25 down the drain but whatever we gave it another try. Another $25 down the drain. The cheese they are now using is absolutely disgusting. I believe if you charge $25 for 2 steaks and change the recipe you should notify the customer. Especially when the previous recipe was so extremely popular. I feel like that's so wrong. read more

Stopped by maybe 45 mins ago and a woman was so rude to one of the cashiers. I was next in line and noticed he proceeded to re-bag or place different items in separate bag. She continued to berate him as he made every effort to appease her. While he followed her instructions she asked for a manager to which he requested one to the checkstand then took over the adjacent register. (This also is the second time he apologized to me but I was offended at how this woman was treating him) This woman progressed to telling the lady who took over about his attitude, appearance, etc. I believe his name is ceejay. Always friendly -which is why I picked that register. Him and the young lady that replaced him handled her very well considering she just wanted someone to yell at. The young adults on staff are amazing. I was not as professional and friendly in the workplace at their age! read more

Great store, great selection and great service. If there is something that I need be it food, a specific personal care item or even a small last minute gift or office supply know I will find it at Raley's. This location has a wide selection of special diet foods including gluten free options and a nice sized household goods section for kitchen utensils and simple tools. The parking can be a little tricky out front but if you drive around to the side of the store there usually more spots open. As with most Raley's, prices are a bit higher than other supermarkets but the selection, convenience and service make up for it. If you're seeking a shopping experience that lacks the usual crowds of hobos, trash pandas, and sour elderly people this is the spot I've gotten closest to finding it. It's also a really clean place. Sure the groceries run a slightly higher price tag than WalMart, but I'll pay it happily to ensure that I don't have to witness a brawl in the frozen food section for the last ice cream or bottles shattered on the ground in the wine isle. Not to get too off topic here, but this is also the place where I made a discovery that changed my life. The Fair Life Chocolate milk they stock tastes like a slice of heaven and since it's discovery two months ago my life has done a 180. I was addicted to crack, turning tricks on corners, snorting blow out of toilets, wishing for death and inching closer to it by the day but now, I have a full time job, a girlfriend, a house, three cars, and a real bed. My life couldn't be better. TL:DR - It's Raley's, and this one is one of the best in town it deserves more than three stars. read more

Oh my, it's only been a few months and my store has taken a terrible turn for the worse. I'm feeling verclempt! (Talk amongst yourselves). While the store remains clean and the items are fresh, Customer service has taken a nose dive with employees frequently failing to acknowledge customers let alone be pleasant. When you ask where something is located, it's a complete crapshoot about whether you get a correct answer. When the answer is wrong, the employee just shrugs, as if to say, "I don't care. Don'g bug me." In addition, the manager claims that the store will no longer special order for customers unless it is in quantity (my impression is that you must purchase a case). This really ticks me off as I wanted Weight Watchers bread for my diet and can't eat a quantity of bread, nor do I have the freezer room for it. The manager did take my name and phone number, but it's been four days and he never bothered to call and say whether they could get the bread for me or not. Cashiers no longer offer to provide someone to help you take a full cart of groceries to your car. You practically have to beg for help. Everyone's attitude has gotten so crappy that I was prompted to ask one of the few friendly employees what the devil is going on at this store. The answer was most illuminating and should interest Lakewood G., king of retailing knowledge and savvy. Apparently Raley's stopped "secret shopping" this location and everyone there knows it so they have no motivation to stay on their toes customer service-wise. Also, Raley's was paying quarterly bonuses of $300 per employee (or $1 per hour each employee worked). About a year ago that was cut back to a bonus of 50 cents per hour, then 25 cents per hour, then was taken away altogether. This has negatively impacted employee morale. Most of them simply no longer care. Last but not least, after shafting the employees, Raley's did not even cut their prices. Shame on them. They are taking advantage of both customers and employees and if the trend isn't reversed it won't be long until I begin shopping elsewhere. read more

I can't believe all the negative reviews given for this GREAT little neighborhood store. Who are you people? I've lived in this neighborhood for 13 years and have NEVER had a bad experience with this supermarket. Let's address some specifics: STAFF: Everyone has a bad day once in a while. Maybe this accounts for some of the negative comments here, or perhaps some people just don't get along well with others. Regardless, I've always been greeted with a smile at this Raley's, and when there's been a problem with a purchase (rare), it was corrected quickly and without question. I've also never had a problem with getting a quick and accurate response if I had to ask where something is located, and I've rarely had to wait long to check-out at this store. They are pretty quick to open a new register if more than three people are in line. As for the contention that no one offers to help you with your cart, I practically have to beg the courtesy clerks NOT to help me with my cart! And I don't know why someone would think this is a difficult place to get to; I have walked, biked, and driven to this store without incident. Apparently, some people just shouldn't leave the house. PRICES: Hey, this is a RALEY'S, people! If you're going to shop here (and you're a knowledgeable shopper), you know this isn't going to be the cheapest option. However, it's also not the most expensive, and in general, you get what you pay for. If I need to stock up on basic canned & packaged goods for winter, I go to Winco. But if I want high quality FRESH produce & meat, not to mention a decent selection of "foodie" items you don't find even at the larger Raley's on 7th & Keystone, then I go to my neighborhood store. Recently I needed star anise for a recipe and none of the other stores (Safeway, SaveMart, WalMart, larger Raley's) within easy driving distance even carry it. My little neighborhood Raley's not only carries it, they sell it for a buck cheaper than at Whole Paycheck. DELI & BAKERY: For the size of this store, I think their deli & bakery offerings are quite good and of a decent variety. Sure, I can find cheaper deli stuff at a larger big-box place, but the price difference isn't so huge that I need to burn gas driving out of my way to get some cold cuts. I've ordered custom cakes from the bakery and have never been disappointed. I've tried their sandwiches and other quick foods, and I'd have to say that they're a little pricey for what you get, but it's a supermarket not a restaurant. You want a BIG sandwich for a good price? Go to Port o' Subs. PRODUCE/HEALTH FOOD/BULK ITEMS: FRESH, high quality produce and great sales/coupon offers, especially when items are actually in season (versus being shipped in from Pluto). Really decent selection of "non-standard to the American palate" produce & foodie items for a store this size. I'm not a huge purchaser of the vegan stuff available here, but my vegan friends (both of 'em) say the selection is adequate. The bulk bins aren't as cheap as Winco, but they often stock stuff I find handy to have in my own neighborhood. MEAT DEPT.: Good selection, very good quality, knowledgeable butcher/counter help. Heck, most stores these days don't even have an actual butcher who'll come to the counter and answer a question, or offer extra service. This Raley's meat dept. will trim a cut to your specification without extra charge, offer advice on preparation, and they'll even sharpen your knives for free. Just as with the produce dept., keep an eye on the sales & coupon offers and you'll be pleasantly surprised at some of the deals this store offers on quality meats. It's true that if I need to stock up my freezer I'll often go to Costco or Winco, but if I need two FRESH steaks, a trimmed tri-tip, or the best Boston butt pork shoulder available short of driving out to "The Market" on S. Virginia, I buy 'em here. LIQUOR: Like most supermarkets, Raley's isn't the place you want to buy single-malt scotch unless you're crazy rich and don't want to drive to a proper liquor store. They do occasionally have sales that bring the spirits down to a price that's closer to sanity, but if you like wine you'll want to check out this store's sales on vino. They have a very decent (for a supermarket) selection of wines, and they're always running various sales. On sale, I've purchased decent bottles here for the same price I'd find at Costco or Ben's, although nothing beats Total Wine & More in this area. DRUGSTORE: This section is just average, but I have no complaints. If you need cheap drugstore items, go to WalMart. In conclusion, I have to say that I feel very fortunate to have a store like this in my neighborhood. It's so much more pleasant to shop at this Raley's than wander the endless aisles at larger stores. read more

I love this Raleys. Its kind of in the middle of nowhere, but I guess its a good idea to have a grocery store in the middle of a residential area. The produce guys are always so friendly and they give you a free taste of some produce, which is always amazingly fresh. We will only buy our meat and produce from Raleys because we know it will always be top notch. Raleys is always worth the extra cost. They have great floral arrangements, and they have a well laid out store. Their toiletries aisles are kind of lacking, so i always go to target or CVS for those type of items. They seem to have friendly pharmacy staff with minimal lines if any. read more

First, a little back story. My husband was looking for a special bottle of bourbon. The Raleys on Wedge parkway had two, but by the time we went to get one, they were gone. He decided to call around to other raleys locations, and spoke with someone at this location who said they had it in stock. We drove all the way across town to pick it up. When we arrived, we couldn't find it anywhere, so we asked Darius, the store manager to help. He checked and found out, that in fact someone on the phone must of misunderstood what we were looking for. No bourbon again. Darius asked to our name and number, and said he would try his hardest to find one. A couple weeks went by, and no call. We figured since it was such a rate batch of bourbon, he just couldn't find one. Then my husband received a call from Darius saying he found one! Only, he didn't find it through raleys, he had found out Bens liquor had one out towards our house. I wanted to take a minute to write him an awesome review. Darius is not an employee of Bens, nor did he have to branch outside of raleys to help Us and most people would not go to such great lengths for customer service! Thank you Darius, you are awesome! This was my primary supermarket for most of my childhood and some of my adulthood. As Reno grocery stores go, it's a nice one. It's a bit on the small side, it's clean, it's well stocked, it's nice. It costs a few dollars more than, say, Save-Mart, but what you get for that money is that the person standing in front of you in line is approximately six times less likely to have lice. I have never - even once - had an issue with their customer service. A lot of people will come onto a review site simply to vent about one bad experience. I assure you that good customer service is the norm at this place. read more

After two years of shopping here solely for the convenience, of coming to terms with all that sucks about this store by calling it my corner bodega, despite everything everything wrong with the store, I have finally hit my tipping point, and can no longer handle shopping here. First, the good: the service. The people who work here are generally really wonderful, and that's a great thing. But they have terrible management, and can only be kind while shrugging their shoulders and claiming an inability to do anything. (Service is what gives them the extra star.) They have a pretty decent produce selection. Except that it's wildly over-priced, and they have absolutely no idea how to take care of greens, so you get soaked and water-logged greens-- not just a fun way for the store to jack up revenue, but it rots the veggies, and is also painfully wasteful of water. The prices are extraordinarily high; I have walked out of this store on multiple occasions and headed out to Trader Joe's, because the item I needed would be literally 1/3 the price across town. And they feel very comfortable with charging almost as much for a half dozen eggs as for a dozen -- "because they have a fish counter" said the only employee there I've ever had a bad experience with. He just happened to be the GM. But that's just when they had the specific thing I was looking for. Usually, they don't. The selection is terrible, especially if you want a specific brand. Half the shelf space in the store is house-brand, but I tend to want specific brands when shopping for packaged food. (This is where the bodega came in to my thinking. And it makes no sense for a store of this size to have so little selection). The last straw was last weekend. I was on my to a friend's child's bar mitzvah, and stopped in for a card. They have a sizable card selection, so I felt (stupidly) confident there would be at least one bar mitzvah card in the mix. I was quite wrong. Now, for every life event imaginable, they hade Christian and non-Christian cards available, multiple options. But not one single lonely bar mitzvah card. Every time I shop here, I leave angry. Poor selection, ridiculous prices... I feel less screwed when I shop at Whole Foods. So, I'm wiping their existence from my mind, despite the fact that they are mere blocks from my front door. read more
