Can't believe I've never reviewed the incredible Perenn at Rancharrah…read more Perenn is known for being an upscale and expensive boutique bakery, but they are worth it and truly the best. I love all of the pastries at Perenn, but the chocolate bouchons are truly exceptional, and if you want to splurge, the grab-and-go freezer is great, too. My wife is also a huge fan of their matcha. Specifically, they do a coconut cloud matcha, which is a base of lightly sweetened coconut water topped with a matcha foam. It's perfectly sweet and incredibly refreshing on a warm day. The ambiance here is perfectly upscale and accessible. The decor is very chic, and their outdoor patio space is very nice. The service is always great, and though there can be a huge line, it often moves quickly. My only wish for Perenn would be that I could visit more often! While they have expanded, more locations and lower pricing could make them a truly exceptional stand-out bakery with accessibility for all.

YELP REVIEW PROMPT…read more Checked on Yelp for a dessert spot that I haven't tried before. Sierra Nevada Creamery and Bakery was a quick four minute walk from our lunch spot so we thought why not! It's located right next to the Pioneer Center for Performing Arts and has a very small parking area. There are restaurants on either side so there is also street parking. It was a warm day so I decided on a double scoop in a cup, one pistachio and one sea salt caramel. The double scoop was huge, definitely no skimping and only $10. There was one person ahead of us and then tons of people piled in after we did so we got there at a really good time! There was only employee working (I think he may have been the owner). I felt so bad because it was just him and he had a line almost out the door but if he was stressed he did not show it. He was friendly and so professional. The inside is pretty small but there some places to sit and if the inside is full the grass area right outside isn't a bad place to enjoy your treats. I would recommend for sure and I definitely want to go back and try a chocolate chip cookie. Things to note: Read his story on the ice cream menu. I enjoyed it and that is what makes me want to return to try the chocolate chip cookie.

I was surprised to see this place as I've driven by this strip of businesses many times and never noticed this particular spot. They offer homemade treats, but mostly ice cream. They have an almost unmatched selection of non-dairy ice creams and sorbets. A nice surprise. The gentleman helping us was very nice and gave us a full rundown of how they make everything in house. He offered samples and suggestions. I sampled the flavor of the week, Lavender Honey Matcha, and the coconut cream coffee. My kids decided on the mango sorbet and the classic strawberry. Everything was delicious. The coconut cream ice cream had great flavor and texture given that it was non dairy. My wife and I decided on the matcha flavor of the week. It was very refreshing. The strawberry had real chunks of strawberry which is always a treat. My biggest critique is the texture of the ice cream. This stuff seemed very crumbly. I prefer a much more "chewy" or "sticky" ice cream if that makes sense. This stuff was more "dry" and less "creamy". There are some other local shops in the area that make great ice cream exactly how I like it, which is the only reason for 4 stars. I'm not sure this would be my top place for ice cream again. The smallest "one scoop" size is actually nearly two full scoops. Could be a good thing for some, but a kids scoop is always appreciated for my toddlers, especially a a slightly discounted price. That is not an option here. There are a few small tables inside to enjoy your treats and lots of to-go options which is always nice. The place was clean and well decorated. It was steadily busy while we visited, indicating that this place is likely here to stay. Overall, worth stopping in if you're in the area. The flavors are unique and tasty and the non-dairy selection is fantastic.

The tea setting was beautifully done but our table was extremely small which made teatime challenging at times. During the teas each person gets their own pot of unlimited tea. We did the Jasmine Glow tea and the Strawberry Chocolate Pu'erh. The teas were amazingly delicious! They were so good that we bought some to bring home. The bites were flavorful, just the right size, and complemented each other beautifully. You could taste the love and care that went into each one of the items. They also offer 2 speciality adult beverages each month. The Prosecco float was my favorite! This was a wonderful and delicious experience. We can't wait for next month's tea!

Also, the mini cakes here (not included in high tea) are absolutely gorgeous. They are not too sweet, and remind me of what I used to get at cafes in Japan. My favorite that I've tried so far is the blueberry cake. I love them all though. Can't wait to try more!

Instead of being buttery like many California Chardonnays, it's slightly sweeter and very smooth. After trying my cocktail, my husband decided to order a Limoncello Spritz too, and he ended up enjoying it even more than the wine. We skipped the appetizers and salads and went straight to the main event. I ordered the mushroom ravioli, which I had been dreaming about all day. It was light, delicate, and packed with incredible flavor. My husband, who is from New Zealand, chose the lamb chops. They were cooked to perfection, so tender you could cut them with a butter knife. He paired them with the asparagus risotto, which was delicious but a little heavy alongside the lamb. We ended up taking some home, and next time I'd recommend pairing the lamb with a salad instead. To finish, we shared the large ricotta cannoli topped with chocolate chips. It was heavenly, light, creamy, and it practically melted in our mouths. They looked pretty, but the taste was uneventful. So I think I will probably stick to some of the other bakeries in town. They do have fresh breads, though if you're looking for a nice roll or something like that. i'm giving three stars due to the lunch we have. As for the desserts it would've been a two star.
