I finally gotta knock this location down a peg. Ever since the big location went live at Rancharrah it just seems this one gets less and less love. I've started to come back over the last couple months and the last 4 times I've gone there the selection stays the same, and now they've taken away my one motivator for my AM visits.... The golden toasty.... I hate to say but that was the last thing keeping me from just going to Beloved for my pastries and Pangolin for my latte. The last nail was today, this was officially the 4th time in a row that I have gone over the last couple months and they have opened up the store late, while watching all the people line up outside and not reacting to it. You gotta do better if you wanna keep this midtown location Perenn, there is other options that open on time, have a better selection, and are truly bought into midtown. The matcha cloud came out beautifully presented--the coconut water topped with whipped matcha was both refreshing and delicious, and the flavors paired really well together. I've been wanting to go to the Perenn midtown location forever. Finally last weekend we made the trip! It's a much more intimate and industrial setting than the Perenn in Rancharrah. I love how cozy it is here. Staff said they don't have as many choices as the bigger location but that was fine with me. I opted for the Cloud Matcha which was made with coconut water. So refreshing, perfectly sweet! This will probably be a spot I visit more often now that I live in midtown. read more

I am so beyond happy that we have Perenn Bakery. All locations and the grocery store are incredible! We love the staff too, everyone is so nice and helpful. It definitely can be very expensive, but as a treat once every few months, it's completely worth it. It has such a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere even when it's busy. And the food, and coffee are always exceptional. I can't really choose a favorite pastry or breakfast item, they're all perfect! This is an overdue review, but I knew I had to share this! I really miss this bakery, I miss the calm and clean atmosphere and the general aesthetic of the bakery. I most remember their rich chocolate bouchon and their crème brûlée kouign armaan (whoops forgot how to spell it) The crème brûlée were at the perfect sweetness level; a short sweet sensation that doesn't linger in your mouth for too long. Plus, you can tell a staff member to heat up your goodies for you so it's warm and cozy. I remember biting into a warm, soft cookie while looking out into the rain. Came in a few minutes before closing, and they still had some goodies left so I got the danish of the day and it had mango in it and it was absolutely amazing! It was super beautiful too. I was hungry for some breakfast so I opted for the English muffin breakfast sandwich and it also did not disappoint. I highly recommend the caramelized onions. They give a good portion for the price. Whenever I'm Reno, I stop by here to get vanilla crème brulee kouign amann and it's so delicious. The crust is crispy and the pastry is flaky and the vanilla cream is delicious. I like their pastries but not a huge fan of the coffee. I got a cortado and a cappuccino and they just gave me espresso shot in a cup for both drinks. I've also had their Matcha their other location and it was not good. Definitely check out their pastries though. read more

The only issue I had was not being able to try all of the items! I ended up trying the vanilla creme brulee kouign amann. The fresh cream on the inside side paired great with the croissant bread -- 10/10 YUM! There's also a breakfast menu if you are looking for more savory items. I saw there was avocado toast and a breakfast sandwich. Located in midtown my partner and I enjoy visiting Perenn early morning. Their fresh baked goods are always a treat. We ordered an americano, breakfast sandwich with bacon jam, ham and cheese croissant and chocolate and pistachio croissant. While we enjoyed everything, the croissants were certainly the highlight of our meal. We are not big on sweets but we loved the chocolate and pistachio croissant the best. Both croissants were flaky, fresh and absolutely delicious - perfect for a light treat! It's a smaller space but they had plenty of tables open when we entered. It's a cute place to meet up with a friend for a coffee date! The staff was also friendly and greeted up when we entered and helped answer any questions we had about the menu items. This location is busy, which is normal for Peren. There is indoor and outdoor seating, but it fills up really fast. This location is a little different than their Rancharra location. It's has more of a stop and go or quick bite vs a restaurant vibe. When you walk in, there isnt a menu until you get to the register and has a small coffee menu overhead. I ordered an orange poppy seed bread slice, an apple croissant, 2 breakfast sandwiches and two cloud drinks. Of course the pastries were given to me right away. They ended up smashing my poppy slice in a box where the icing was scraped off, so it was no longer esthetically pleasing, but still tasted great. Downside... everything came out at different times and I mean much different times. After I paid and collected my pastries it took about 20 minutes for my hot breakfast sandwiches to come out and then another 15 minutes for my two drinks. Since this was a to go order, my food was extra cold. The drinks were last to come out and were unfortunately shaken, so you could no longer see the distinct cloud or clear part, so that was a little disappointing since it was the main appeal. I will probably venture back, but be more aware of the timing or know that I will be there a good while. With the high end prices, I just expected the quality/service to align. read more

Perenn is my go to for a morning coffee and treat. Their baked goods are delicious! My fav are their cinnamon roll croissant and their creme brulee pastry. But is it just me or are their pastries getting smaller in size? I been coming here since they open and there is definitely a size difference. My 1st time in I got the avocado toast and ricotta toast came to about 31$... gave a 4 cause it's only based out of 2 items of their whole menu. But will rate each item below... Avocado toast 1 out of 5. It was so spicy I couldn't eat it. The only other thing that stood out and over powered the taste was the little bits of lemon. I tried to force myself to eat half and it was just to spicy. And made me nauseous. Ricotta toast 3 out of 5. Was just meh... very bland. I ate half sibce my stomach was still upset from the avocado toast ...I was grateful it helped extinguish the fire... If u Don't like spicy I would definitely request they don't add the chili. In the future I will also be requesting no lemon and extra onion. Couldn't even taste the onion buy u could smell it. I always give a place a second chance. But maybe not anytime soon. read more

The Vietnamese ice coffee here is everything!! Order it with the dark roast and thank me later. The vibe of this cafe is definitely aesthetically pleasing and the baristas were so friendly to me and my mom. We were visiting from out of town and overwhelmed in the best way by all the options. This is the OG spot for Perenn before the rancharrah days. The memories of walking in smelling all the yummy baked goods and standing in line thinking of what they have to offer that day and if they have anything left! This spot feels darker but that's the mood set with the darker walls and the windows only at the front of the store. It's best to get there early to ensure you get what you what before they run out! They have tables to enjoy your coffee and breakfast but it's also small enough to just grab and go. The pace of the line is fast so as long as you know what you're getting, it's smooth sailing. I like their Vietnamese coffee and their kougian amann is my first love. Definitely one of my favorite bakeries in town! read more

Stopped by this morning for some goodies for the road. The baked goods here are just as good as they look. The prosciutto & Gruyere cheese was buttery, flaky & soft a solid 10/10. I think I may like this location over the Rancharrah location. The store is very small but extremely cozy, with a limited menu. I like how they offer a few different things. A bakery I always recommend to everyone! I've been coming to the Midtown location for years if I'm craving pastries or need a caffeine pick me up. This location is quite small so expect to be scrunched up while you wait in line to order if you happen to go during a weekend (sometimes the line is so long that you might have to wait outside). The aesthetic and menu is something you can't find any where else is Reno and this is a big reason why I keep coming back. A few of my favorite menu items: - Earl grey cookie - I get this every visit - Chocolate bouchon, an underrated pastry item, decadent little chocolate cake to satisfy your sweet craving - Banana bread, the best banana bread I've ever had - Iced Vietnamese (dark roast) - their coffee roast is delicious (in any drink you get), I will warn that this drink has whole milk in it so it's technically not a "true" Vietnamese coffee, also it's pretty expensive as well compared to other restaurants which is a big drawback ($8!) Workers have always been really friendly and the environment is gorgeous. Seating can be tight inside but they also have seating outside as well. I would come here more often if it weren't so expensive but the cost makes sense based on the quality of the foods/drinks. read more

Literally, some of the best pastries I've ever had. They were giant, so flaky, and the cream wasn't too sweet. I KNOW this place would thrive in the Bay if they ever decided to expand. Felt a craving and i stopped by for some pastries. Tried a cookie with melted marshmallow. Tried a huge cupcake type of pastry with cream and gold flakes. Tried the chocolate chip cookies and two other pastries. It was cozy, clean refreshing, and the staff were great. Patio setting outside is set up for you to enjoy your coffee. Next time i will take a seat and come in earlier to get ahold of their other pastries since they were sold out of a few. Loved it!! read more
