12/27/24- Heard we had a new store in town, so I had to take a run over there- Very impressed with how the storefront is set up. Produce has huge selections and reasonable prices- Meat dept. was busy and the cases were long and nicely displayed. Grabbed two bags of warm corn tortillas- Pan dulce selection was decent- 5 for $4.95 I always have to try the pigs and one turnover.. The hot foods had a nice selection of items. So glad I know where to shop when I'm ready to cook some good recipes.. read more

I give this new Mercado/Market high marks! It's very fresh and vibrant and quite a treat. I found special fresh chilies on my trek to make a new kind of salsa and that's priceless in my book. This market was bustling and I love to see it. Great produce section,with lines as big as oranges! A great meat section and extensive seafood section. There is also a Mexican deli section with all sorts of goodies. There was a very happy vibe. This is a huge Mercado that took over a Save Mart (I think) they even gave a self check out section, which I love. I needed some assistance and the employee was just wonderful. I felt welcomed and well attended to. Loved the suggestion to this market from my incredible contractor Scottie! Awesome read more

We dropped by El Super last Sunday; located in the old building that used to house Sak ''N Save, in Oddie Blvd., this was our first visit to this store. I liked how bright and clean the store was; the isles were very orderly and the shelves were well organized. They had a good variety of fresh produce, meats, poultry and fish plus something you don't often see in regular grocery stores: two types of ready-to-eat chicharron. The store also had a cool looking delicatessen but we didn't swing by because we were pressed for time (oh, well maybe next time). We used the self-checkout lane because we only bought a tray of chicken breast but the young lady watching the self-checkout lane smiled courteously. Overall, we had a nice shopping experience and I will definitely try to drop by again. read more

El Super, you're exactly what was needed in Reno. A large vibrant Latino market offering a Carneceria, tortilleria, panaderia, and dairy counter to get fresh queso, crema, salsa, and so much more, all within a grocery store. They even have a ready to eat deli/kitchen to order food to eat there or to go! The produce is fresh, the grocery options are vast , and the store feels clean and organized. We had to purchase El Supers branded tortillas (they're fresh) so we got a pack of flour and corn. It's gonna be difficult to purchase any other large brand tortillas after eating theirs. Buy the tortillas! Patrons beware. It's a busy store so you're gonna have to expect a crowd, especially on weekends and between 4pm-7pm daily. My only grip is the shopping center parking lot. It's always been terrible and I don't see that ever change. read more

Hey this store is huge. This was my first time here and it's really popular. They have all kinds of different items inside. It's a grocery store/ bakery/ restaurant / meat market. This place looks really nice inside. I really enjoyed the tamale station. It was the best! We did self check out. And there was alot of people in line. The wait was not long though. Also the signs are in English and Spanish. I thought that was cute! I am practicing Spanish so I found this really helpful. I recommend checking this place out. It's a must try. Too many goodies to see in one trip. I'll be back soon. read more

El Super is truly El Super. Great produce, especially for the quality and price. Lots of great deals throughout the store, but center aisle is a bit lacking compared to Winco or other stores. However, the perimeter is great, and worth the stop, especially produce. read more

Fantastic addition to our local scene of Mexican markets. This one is apparently a transplant from Mexico and I'm so happy we have it here. From fresh fruits and vegetables, to a complete butcher counter with every cut you can imagine plus housemaid, sausage and marinated meats, to a deli case filled with exceptional Mexican cheese, crema, salsa and salads, to a bakery with custom cakes, and all types of pan dulces, and even scratch, made tortillas, hot and fresh out of the oven, you can find it all here! I loved wandering each department without any specific item in mind. I left the butcher counter with a selection of marinated meats. I found queso Oaxaca and salsa in the deli, got some fresh tortillas and desserts in the bakery, and I even scored a jar of salsa macha to go along with it. I turned all of it into a mixed grill for New Year's Eve and we had tacos for days! I can't wait to shop here again ! read more

I went for the 1st time to try the prepared food section of the store where you walk thru the line and place your order they make it and push it on to the register. I stood inline behind 4 others and in front of 3 others. the young lady working helped each person quickly and with a courteous attitude and skipped right over me.. Helped everyone until I was the only one standing there. She then restocked the prepared food. After an obvious 10min in this line without service I walked to the cashier and attempted to place my order she said to go back to the girl who would NOT recognize me as a person in line. There's NO WAY she did not see the only WHITE LADY standing in LINE!!!! This is a wonderful addition to Reno and a great use of space. They have everything you could need to make an amazing Mexican meal. Well, my friends were right! 1 month ago they were here and enjoyed the Chile Rellenos in Pepe's Kitchen and suggested I check out the size of this Mercado. They raved about how large it was and that it had everything! Upon Entering it's impressive by how bright, clean and modern it is. It's really a beautiful Market. This once tired old Sac ' n ' Save building has new life now. It's large offering a Carneceria, Tortilleria Panaderia, and a counter with fresh cheese, crema, salsa and much more all within this large grocery store. I noticed the aisle of lots of Mexican beers as well , oh and Tequilas. I forgot to mention the fresh Fish market too. Right as you enter there are six pots of different varieties of tamales, including the unusual Pineapple and Strawberry versions.. There is so much here ... it's ,Overwhelming! If you're out to make an authentic Latin Meal, then this is The place to come. I am a fan and will return. Today I came just to look, but I guarantee I won't be going anywhere else when I prepare my next Mexican dinner at home. And I'll be sure to try out Pepe's Kitchen and post a review for them too. I am very happy to have this new supermarket in our area! We spent about two hours going through everything! It was clean and everything looked fresh! The restaurant inside had some pretty good food! I didn't give it a five because the only disappointment was they didn't have much variety in coffee! I normally love trying all the different coffees. Also, their bakery had very minimal selection of sweet bread/ pan dulce. Otherwise it was pretty good. I will definitely make it part of my rotation in grocery stores I love to shop at! read more

Cooked food line has not changed a bit it's a complete disorder. The workers work at the slow speed and don't care how long of a line there is no one seems to want to come ease the crowd. Management needs to train these employees to work together that way the wait isn't 20 min to get agua fresca. read more

Bolillos are fresh and tasty. The produce is some of the most affordable in the area. Don't sleep on the other ethnic foods, I come here to get ingredients for a lot of southwest asian and west African dishes. Clean store. read more

This store is not for the anxious at heart (at least not in peak shopping times) but if you're cool as a cucumber in the face of utter chaos, this store is a pretty great haven of all things Latino. Hot food, tamales, fresh pan, great produce prices (make sure you check what's on special in the mailers) and everything in between. I found the prices to be really hit or really miss, but the bread selection was so sad compared to visits at other stores out of state. No conchas?? The checkout lines were a cluster in terms of organization but at least they moved quickly. In short, I'm not gonna make a drive out of my way for one thing, but if it's time to stock up on produce or I'm in need of specific ingredients for Xmas pozole, you'll find me at El Super! read more

I'm so glad this store bought by el super! We really need it here. Used to be my favorite Sak and Save store but closed down. The store is very busy because it's Sunday afternoon. I love the fresh salsa. Would be 5 stars rating but disappointed there's no real meat chicharrones, I have to drive down the road to a carniceria because I'm craving it that's why I went here. The panaderia is good selection The store seems clean and organized aside from the chaotic of the Sunday afternoon people and the workers trying to put up stuff. read more

This is more of a 3 if Reno had a better variety of Mexican markets, but Reno wise its a 4. Produce and meats are good value and price. The pan dulce is a little lacking in comparison to some other markets. Store is very easy to get around in and have great service from employees in the store, especially the butcher shop. Parking is a bit cramped, but not too bad. El Super is a welcome addition to Reno to provide a bit more variety. read more

We went to the restaurant and had high hopes as I heard El Super was the place to go for some authentic market experience. The market actually looks amazing. The food and prices look like what you would look for at a Mexican market. Unfortunately, the food at the restaurant portion looks like it had been sitting out all night and we did come at 6:30 for dinner. The line was pretty long so we were hopeful that the food was good but we waited in line for at least 15 minutes and when we got to the front, no one was helping us and there was a line behind us still. Not sure how the system works, but Hopefully if you try them out, you get better service and are able to try the food. We walked out because we waited 15 minutes to have no service. So we hopped on over to El Paisano across the parking lot and that was delicious! read more

Stopped in late Saturday morning expecting the store to be packed... but was pleasantly surprised. I heard the tortillas from here are good---and they were right! A new grocery store in the older part of Sparks(the old Sak n Save location). When you walk in they have fresh tamales... they were already out of the pork and chicken-- but had some of the elotes (corn). Really good-- they were fresh and sweet- a perfection combination with your morning coffee. The store is big-- they have a section(Pepe's Kitchen) to order some food and sweets. In the Tortilleria section, the tortillas are made fresh. I especially liked the flour tortillas I picked up. There is a bakery section --due to the time, a lot of the fresh pastries were gone but still managed to grab some goodies. They have other sections where you can get cheeses, seafood, and meat. Plenty of selection for fresh produce too. Overall-- it's a nice grocery store that is reasonably priced. Lots of Hispanic items to select from. Give it a try! read more

Terrible, would give zero if possible. Up charged me 4$ per pound on my beef tripe order for my menudo should've been 2.50-2.80 per lb charged me 6.60-6.90$. Should've weighed my meat before my meal also because that same order felt severely under weight for 4lbs. (Didn't (notice till I got home) or check with scale felt more like 2lbs) only ever visit their store for quick visits I.E. any little stuff I forget on my normal store runs (Costco/Winco). But this is a sheisty store that tries to pander towards Hispanic community all the while over charging them, won't use again. read more

Honestly, it's on OK store. You can find most of the things you need.. produce is good. The deli products are great service there is OK .The only thing I don't like about this place is the service at the butcher counter, service there is horrible, last time I was there. It was only one person attending, and there was four people behind the counter. They had about 15 customers waiting to get service , two of them were just chitchatting, and the other one was just minding his business. In general, I think the only thing this place needs is better customer service through the whole store . read more

The other day, I went in with my sister. She had just finished scanning an item and set it down next to the scanner. A lady came out and was very rude, insisting that we still needed to scan it. We explained that it had already been scanned, but she didn't seem to understand because she didn't speak English. She repeated herself and accused us again of not scanning the item. Eventually, she called security, and when the security guard came, he spoke English and confirmed that we had in fact scanned everything. The whole situation was really frustrating. It's difficult when an employee can't understand customers and ends up accusing people unfairly. It made the experience uncomfortable and unnecessary, especially since we had done everything correctly. read more

Yes they have food and they have selections. From pupas to carnitas burritos and tacos to auga Fresca to ice cream bakery. It's what I really missed from California. A Mexican store that has everything in one. Tamales cakes and then all the selection you need in groceries from basic to Mexican standards herb to make that delicious dish at home. I'm really glad we finally got something that's way better than WALMART. Yes this place will have high traffic but out flows faster then waiting on self check out from that crappy chain market that has all those registers but only used self check out. No sense in that. Overall super happy to have this here and close to where I live. Just went in today to get carnitas and found cooked plantains added rice and beans and dinner is taken care of. I just moved into this neighborhood over the summer and it was already hard enough to have only Winco as a nearby option for groceries. El Super replaced Sac N Save which I think went out of business because of the road construction. Well, El Super is a welcomed new addition to the neighborhood! I'm so happy to have cultural cuisine options and ingredients. They're easy to find in this awesome store! I think the prices are for the most part, really great, especially if you take a look at the mailer that shows what deals are that week. The store is well lit, the meat and produce looked tasty and fresh , and the employees are extremely friendly and helpful. The parking lot can be a zoo, but it's OK. It's not as bad as Winco. If I were to forget some ingredient or something I needed to be quickly in and out, this is the only option to do something like that unless you want to go pay lots of money at Raleys all the way over on pyramid and McCarren. I love this store so much!! You can go in there and get so many authentic Mexican products it's amazing! The fresh tortillas are amazing. All the fresh creamas and queso's.... amazing!! But I've had one consistent experience here everytime I come and it's this..... they act like THEY HATE WHITE PEOPLE with a passion! There you go everyone... I said it out loud. I'm sure I'm going to be the racist one now but it is absolutely true! Every time I go there and take a number and wait at the carnenceria they will bypass your number or just stop rolling the numbers all together and play dumb just to take care of all the Mexican locals. EVERY SINGLE TIME I've been there they've done this???? Every time I ask a question at the dairy deli they brush you off and say "I don't know!" in fact if you're white, they won't even ask you if you want or need anything they wait for you to go and get them when you're ready to tell them what you want... But don't ask any questions about anything youre curious about. When you go to check out and they look up and they see your white ... well... forget about it! The disdain is palpable!! They think we're stupid. Funny thing is they think we dont understand Spanish either... not necessarily true. It's really kind of a bummer because I love the store so much but I'm so uncomfortable going there. I decided after 4 shitty experiences there on my way out the door last week. I get it. Recently just came back from Southern California to visit some family out of town. My mother told me El Super just opened which made me very ecstatic since most Latino businesses in Reno are very expensive. The store is a bit more smaller than it is back in California. The prices are average a little pricey but not too crazy, will definitely visit again. read more

This store has EVERY Hispanic food that you can think of. We also had food at the hot counter (the chicken family meal) and it was AMAZING! The tortillas are all homemade and they are delicious. I highly suggest going here for their fresh produce too. Great selection. read more
