No. Nope. Never again! They might as well shut all of it down because it is over for them. I have taken my kids to Rainforest Cafes for years across many states. Yesterday, was our last visit. The menu was downsized, as were the portions. The water of Atlas turned off. No fish in the tanks. The food was vile! Nasty, re-used oils made us sick for over 24 hours. Cold, grilled chicken. Oily tortilla chips. And the biggest disappointment was the grand finale we have enjoyed countless times, the sparkler volcano cake, which was not only NOT sparkling, but the brownie was half the thickness it normally was and it had less ice cream and whipped cream. But the greatest insult of all were the inflated prices. Basically the owner lowered his expenses by not running the water or caring for fish, downsized the food portions, replaced the food with poorer quality, and increased the prices so to cover his losses. I have a few words for you, but can't do it here. The last time I ragged on a restaurant, they shut down permanently. You guys are headed in the same direction unless you go back to your original business plan. Oh, almost forgot......they have become so cheap, they no longer bring ketchup to you in a bottle. They fill up a single, small plastic container that is so small you need several. How cheap can you get? I'd be ashamed. read more

Came here on a Wednesday evening because our kids wanted to come here for quite sometime. Kids dinner meals are 1/2 price on Wednesday so we took advantage of the deal. The restaurant is located inside the Rainforest shop. My family of four stood at the entrance of the restaurant and wait to be seated. There were a few other customers (probably 25% of the tables were filled). After five minutes of waiting to be greeted a wait staff, we were about to leave the place. The staff must have read our minds and came out of nowhere and took us to our table. The decor was pretty cool. Every now and then, the lights thunder and all the rainforest creatures moved and made noises. This place is really a cool place for the kids, smaller kids especially. There was an artist there doing free face paint. Also, balloons were given out because it's family night. The service is slow. Thanks goodness it was hardly any customers and otherwise our food will arrive 1 hour late rather than the 30 minutes wait we experience. Food was ok. I was bit disappointed to pay more than $20 for my dish when the food tastes like microwave (not that I mind eating TV dinner but that would be purchased at local supermarket for less than $3.) I'm only rating two stars for the kids' experience adventuring throughout the place. Cool decor but nothing more. read more

At ANY Rainforesf Cafe, you pay for experience and not food. The food was literally decent. Our server Mike was amazing, he made a delicious drink with Elderflower liquor. The gluten free (allergen sensitive) pasta was served with a glutenous piece of bread which was a little odd. But I don't have the issue where I'll die if bread was touching my food. The pasta sauce didn't have much flavor, nothing a little salt and pepper can't fix. The pasta noodles were cooked to PERFECTION and that ain't easy when it comes to gluten free! My husband said his burger was decent, and my son wasn't overly thrilled with the grilled cheese but the kids loved the experience and that is what you're getting here. If you want five star food, go elsewhere. If you want your kids to have a blast - Rainforest Cafe in Edison is where it's at! The place wasn't busy at all, hoping to see the location pick up as the Covid vaccine is administered. It's sad seeing a place like this so dead. Visited this location recently for an event and was not happy with the menu option and quality of the food. The host of the event provided a prefix menu prior to the event. I had requested the aloha salmon and shrimp with Hawaiian rice and fresh vegetables and the steak and shrimp with fresh vegetables. Since the prefix menu listed the ingredients of the meal and having food allergies, those were the only two options available. Prior to receiving the entrée, I noticed another entrée from the prefix menu with mushrooms. I checked the prefix menu and the steak and shrimp entree and the aloha salmon and shrimp did not indicate any mushrooms. Other entrees in the menu indicated mushrooms were in the entree. Upon receiving my meal, I notified the waitress of my mushroom allergy and she was not happy. I told her the menu did not indicate any mushrooms with the meal and offered to remake the meal. I received the entree within minutes and was given broccoli (which was still cold) instead of any other options for sides. The individual with the steak and shrimp was not happy as the steak was dry and the fresh vegetables had mushrooms. Environment was ok but overall not happy with the quality of the food. The prefix menu should be more accurate and indicate what is available if there are individuals with food allergies. read more

Went here again on Saturday, had a great late lunch, everything came out quick and our waitress was very nice and knowledgable (Jennifer). Oh man, I gotta stop eating at mall "restaurants". Feels like I have the worst luck at these places... Stopped by here with the family figuring my kids would get a kick out of it, they actually freaked a bit about the big moving gorilla we were seated next to (wish they would have warned us since we have young children). Placed our order for the kids first and had the waitress submit their orders to the kitchen while the wife and I look over the menu. This is where it went bad, all my wife and I ordered were appetizers to share when she came back. After that, my kids food came out, but we had to ask for my son's Mac and Cheese to be replaced since it was basically Mac and butter and cream with zero taste and wasn't even warm. From there, close to an hour later of waiting, we asked where our food was we and the waitress said the ticket is up and the food should be coming soon. What the heck does that mean? The food and drink is so so . Sat at a family lunch for 5 . The animatronics are rather loud and no matter where you sit there is a good chance of needing to adjust to the noiseand get your table crowded by children who try to get closer to the action . It was also very cold which is a rare thing for me to complain about . My wife ordered a specialty cocktail and it was obvious that the orange juice was expired . Appetizers and entree not terrible but not great , it was like typical chain restaurant food . For me the most enjoyable part was the gift shop on the way out . They had cute animal figures which were cool and were 10 for $7 . My daughter loves them . I've come to this Rainforest Cafe about 5-6 times now, and it has been a wonderful experience every time. I am a Landry member, which is absolutely worth the $25 a year. I am seated within 15 mins on a busy day and always greeted by the Manager who is lovely. The customer service is top notch, the food is good and the atmosphere is a lot of fun for families. It's pretty dim inside and I believe every 15 mins the lights flicker to imitate lightening and of course raindrops with thunder sound effects. Appetizer: Fried Calamari- nothing crazy about it. It didn't stand out. Entrees: Turkey/Salami Sandwich- the description said pesto spread, but literally it looks like they dipped the knife in the pesto and didn't even spread it across the sandwich. Came here for my sons 10th birthday and definitely was delighted I came. First off The ambience gives A jungle theme. Very Cool place to look at and take pictures! Came here on a Tuesday and it wasn't packed at all the service was pretty good and the food honestly was average but my son enjoyed every minute of it. I have to express my sincere gratitude and thankfulness to the staff at the Rainforest Cafe in Menlo Park Mall. My kids and I were bummed we couldn't make it to the Polar Express this past Friday and I took them to Rainforest Cafe to cheer them up (we were in matching pjs lol). It's definitely overpriced, I got the taco salad which comes in a big fried taco shell but I subbed it for fish taco salad which was 10 bucks extra. Total for that was $32 for a big shell, some ice berg lettuce, a few tomatoes but the salmon piece was huge, so that kinda balances it a bit. But it was still too pricey for such regular street food. It was decent, not the best, not the worst. Best part is the rainforest look, which is awesome and that part I really enjoyed. Ask the bartender was really patient with us. Wish I knew her name. Recently, I traveled to Edison to eat at Rainforest Cafe, where I haven't been since my kids were very young. From what I remembered the food was not memorable and there was no need to comeback because my kids didn't really care for it. Honestly, my experience recently was a pleasant surprise! I was expecting food to not taste great or uninspiring - what most people expect chain food to be. I ordered a seafood platter, my wife ordered a salad and kids ordered mac and cheese and chicken fingers. I also ordered a buffalo wings appetizer. The food was not too shabby. The seafood in my seafood platter was fresh and tasted good. The portions were very good. My wife liked her salad, and she's usually very strict when it comes to her food rating. The kids were indifferent to their food. Their meals didn't look anything special. The "wings" were just ok. It was a little salty and there were no wingettes! We came with another family and there were no complaints of their dishes. The draw to go to a Rainforest Cafe is their Rainforest theme and animal animatronics. At the entrance, guests are greeted with sounds of waterfall and tropical birds and animal sounds. It's decorated with artificial Amazon like tree foliage and animals. Some are animated, like the huge Boa constrictor hanging down from the ceiling. A gift shop leads into the dining room and it's stocked with animal plush, small toys, candy necklaces, bracelets and shirts. The goal really, is to milk as much money out of the parents before and after dinner. I tried looking it up, but as far as I know there is no percentage of the sales going to help the Amazon and it's inhabitants. Maybe there is a donation of minute percentage of the money dropped into the wishing well to charity. It's an ok experience if you never been. The food isn't too bad. Our server was actually quite nice! Young kids may be scared from the growling animals during their meal. There's a bar next to the dining room, but I can't comment on it because I didn't have any alcoholic beverages. Despite my decent experience, I'd rather go elsewhere for a meal. Very disappointed with the awesome appetizer, the Mozzarella was a not melted and they were hard, the Chimi-Cha-Chas were tasteless I tried to drench them in the sauce but that was hopeless, the spinach artichoke dip was salty, the manager came to our table listened to our complaint and ask if we wanted a replacement of the order, I gladly said no thank you. One bad meal a day is enough. My advice is if you want amazing Chimi-Cha-Chas take the drive and go to the Rainforest Cafe in Atlantic City. It's worth it!!! Ok now let's see how our dinner is. Cons: waited 40 minutes for a table. The place didn't look crowded so not sure why we had to wait that long. Our table was very wobbly. Every time I leaned in to eat the table leaned my way and vice versa when my husband leaned in. The fish tank had no fishes. Pros: our waitress Gabriella was superb! Very attentive with everything. She was prompt with our orders and seemed very honest with recommended meals. She even offered to take our family pic. The food came out in a timely manner. The food did taste good. Went for "breakfast with Santa " this past Saturday and wanted to let owners / management know our waitress I believe her name was Alison was awesome. Our group had very small children with us and naturally in a restaurant setting we can be a lot and feel almost a burden just trying to show our kids a fun time but she made sure we were tended to and made us feel welcome. RUN THE OTHER WAY!!!!!!!! I had only been to a rainforest cafe once before when I was a kid and it's as bad as I remembered. They make you wait a half hour to an hour for you table for really no apparent reason (my husband thought maybe it was a performance or a ride in advance or something), I also had to ask twice when our time stamp came up when we would be seated... then when we were called and we went to the hostess, she told us we had to go to the front of the house to the podium... then when we got to the podium, he told us to go to the hostess... completely unorganized idiots. I had a wailing hungry toddler and we should have just left a half hour ago. Finally get seated and I told the hostess I wanted to talk to the manager... she said sure and of course never sent the manager over. The waiter Ray was great.. responsive and polite. The food took awhile to come out when the the restaurant was 1/3 full barely... the staff all had looks that showed THEY didn't even want to be there... the little animal displays were poorly maintained... the fish and coral reefs were gone, the elephants ear was hanging off and one of the gorillas's eyes were broken. We came here a few times over the years, mostly for special occasions. Most recently, we came to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We do not come here for the food. We come for the theme. On this most recent visit, service was painfully slow. I don't blame our server; the ratio of servers to tables was just too low. However, there were several staff that were just standing in the front, maybe greeting people? They could have been put to better use, although I wasn't "greeted" per se. However, there is enough "entertainment" to make the wait bearable and to keep the kids from complaining. The thunderstorms occur every 20 min or so and the animals move right before this. The kids don't mind the wait because they get to see more thunderstorms. There was a character in a frog costume that came around to take pictures. When I saw this, I said to the girls "look, there's an alien you can take pictures with....". my little daughter said "that's a frog! ". It really looked like an alien to me. Lots of little mishaps and forgotten items. We ordered mozzarella sticks for appetizer and they forgot it until I reminded them after they brought out the entrees. I ordered a burger with a side of chips but it was served with fries instead. At one point, the manager with the frog character found out it was my daughter's birthday, he "discreetly" spoke into a microphone and said we need a "hat" at table number xxx. Well, no hat ever came and I had to explain to our server what I had overheard because my daughter was getting excited about this. He brought the hat over after a short wait. The burger was quite good. We also ordered the "famous" mojo ribs, coconut shrimp and steak trio, hickory chicken and kid's chicken tidbits and chicken tenders. The BBQ ribs and steak are not good. The coconut shrimp was very good, chicken was ok. The kids meals were half eaten. Chicken fingers were much larger than the chicken tidbits but the breeding fell off of the chicken fingers and so you were eating a chicken breast essentially. We ordered the $15 volcano for the celebration. It is essentially about 6 brownie pieces with ice cream. It was good for the celebration but not really worth it for the food itself. Note that if you do not order this, they give you a free cupcake with a candle but the volcano comes with a sparkly topper. read more

Moderately priced, SUPER attentive wait staff, great alcoholic drinks (which you get to keep the glass after!) and of course the most highly themed restaurant out there. My family and I visit the disney location every few years, and this location has come to fill in while home in ny nicely! Cant say enough about our server and the manager who personally came to check on the table. Had a nice conversation about the restaurant and its other past locations. We talk about how the nachos were just basically chesse and chips and so on . So we stop in today and was a 360 turn around in the food product! When doing nostalgic things, its fair to wonder if they were actually good or you're looking back on them with rose colored glasses. Rainforest Cafe definitely falls on the "rose colored glasses" side of things. The gift shop seems barren, and the restaurant overall is showing its age. While that's not necessarily unexpected, it is upsetting the upkeep seems to be neglected (prime example is removal of the fish from the giant tank). Perhaps the other locations are better and this is more a victim of being in New Jersey. The real problem with the Rainforest Cafe is the food. The drinks and apps are good, but the entree was bad. I ordered the pulled pork burger- I am not a food snob but the combination of flavors made me sick and I had to stop eating it. If you have to come here stick to drinks and appetizers. I'm not sure I would go back - I feel as though a piece of my childhood has been ruined and wouldn't want to reopen the wound.
