I suggest you place your order ahead. We came by to order carry out this past Sunday after grocery shopping and it took almost 30 minutes to get our food. We ordered inside and waited in the car, the person who took our order also delivered the food to the car. This has been my go to place for hot dogs since I was a kid. Best chili dogs around. Great gyros too. Love the tzatziki sauce. Very consistent and reliable for a quick and tasty lunch. I've always loved Stewart's since I worked at one when I was in high school and this one in Franklin Park is a gem with great classic food at a great value. How can you go wrong with a great Coney Island dog, fries and a root beer! TLDR: mediocre milk shake I stopped by to grab a chocolate milkshake. The service was quick, and I had my shake only a few minutes after ordering. The shake was icy and didn't have much flavor. We have been going to Stewart's for over 40 years. The restaurant offers small area of counter service and a lot of car hop service. There really isn't any ambiance. After our day at a near by farm we came here for lunch. we came in & placed our orders , Hubby & I had 2 Chili dogs , Mozzarella sticks & Chicken fingers , drinks I got a Mountain Dew not bad Hubby had the Orange cream soda good drink a bit too sweet for me. Chili dogs were very good , good taste to the hot dog nice tasting chili & cheese. Chicken fingers were good as well & so were the mozzarella sticks, nice thick mozz sticks , nicely fried not greasy good with the dipping sauce. Love Stewarts! Burger and onion rings are very good, and the staff are very nice. It feels like eating in the 90's which is the best. If you have back problems you will have trouble with the seats. We came here recently after pumpkin picking around the corner! We have never been here before, but after this experience we cant wait to come back again. We didnt know that the staff comes to your car to take your order! They brought us a menu, and we ordered 2 dogs and almost every side! The staff was very friendly! After we ordered, it took about 10 minutes to get the food. While we were waiting, a guy started walking across the parking lot with a 6' staff, twirling it as he walked around. Kinda creepy... Not going to lie! He then went inside, and our waitress came out with the staff and twirling it 10x better then the guy did! So I guess it was dinner and a show night? HAHAHAHAHA! Our food was great! The cheese tasted off a little.... Maybe it was the cheese flavor? Might not get cheese fries again! But the Mozzarella sticks and onion rings were amazing! 100% would get again. My wife and I both enjoyed our dogs! All in all a cute place! If we were more hungry, we would have ordered actual foods instead of just snacks. We would also get drinks next time! If you are looking to travel back in time a bit, then Stewart's is definitely a spot you should visit! A few of my co-workers had talked about this being one of those "must try" places so I was super excited to finally give it a try. As much as I really wanted to try their burger or hot dog, I opted for their gyro since the warm weather is around the corner but got the gyro platter that came with fries...yes I know I know! My co-worker got the same thing minus the fries and he immediately persuaded me to try one of their Sodas. I think one of the major selling points was that the soda would be served in an ice cold frosted pint type glass so I gave in! I got the Steward Orange Cream while he got the Root Beer and boy they were so good!! Our food came out shortly after and the gyros definitely did not disappoint! We both got the standard gyro which was shredded and they also had a chicken option. I found the gyro meat to be tasty and the fries had the perfect amount of crisp! And it wouldn't be complete unless you add a splash of hot sauce which they had. Overall, I thought the food was awesome and service was great! I would definitely return. read more

No other tables in the restaurant, so either you do take-out or just sit around the counter for your food/drinks. I was nice to be able to have a meal delivered to my car. Not wanting to go and eat inside if it can be helped. The temperature was over 90 so eating outside wasn't that great an option either. We had some burgers, hot dogs and a fish sandwich. The food was fine. The hot dog wasn't awesome just ok. The burgers were good and the fish sandwich looked very good. About once a year I get a craving for a crazy caloric meal that I know I'd soon regret but feel so happy while I consume it. I really wanted cheese fries and a float and my bf wanted a chili dog, Stewart's fit the bill. I always forget that Stewart's is the original Sonic where you can eat in your car. I'm not a big fan of eating in my car so we opted to sit inside, which has a bar-like set up. The server inside greeted us promptly and took our order. Our food came out in about 10 minutes or so, as it's made to order (and you can see into the kitchen from the bar area). We ordered chili dogs, onion rings, California burger (lettuce, tomato, onion), cheese fries and an orange float (yea don't judge us :)). Everything was very enjoyable and curbed our junk food craving. Only thing I wouldn't order again is a burger, only because I didn't find it had much flavor and was very flat. Guessing it's the original recipe from 1924? As we were leaving and placing a to go order to bring back to my sister, the chef in the kitchen saw we didn't finish our onion rings and handed us a take out bag for them, which was so sweet of him. Terrible. We will not be back. I don't know if the ownership has changed, but our recent experience was absolutely mediocre. BLISTERING HOT INSIDE - ONLY FANS CIRCULATING HOT AIR (no A/C). Ordered a chili-cheese dog, bun was stale and the cheese was simply shredded/unmelted cheddar on top of the below average chili. Ordered a Mt. Dew, no syrup. Ordered a Pepsi, flat (no carbonation). My partner ordered a cheese steak, role was stale too (at least they're consistent). Ordered a Root Beer extra ice -- Half way decent, but extra ice I guess meant put in three ice-cubes (I'm not kidding). One other customer asked for them to cut his sandwich in half. It took so long, he left in frustration with the counter people completely unfazed. Guys, you're in the food business. It's competitive. You need to do better than this. This Stewart's feels like it was left in the 70's...which is awesome! It's a little drive up restaurant with picnic tables outside and bar-style seating inside. The employees were friendly to the point where it felt like you were eating in a friend's restaurant. It doesn't have air conditioning, so they had the doors propped open. Not a big deal unless it's super hot out, but for the elderly/heat sensitive people, I wouldn't recommend coming here on a hot and humid summer day. Onto the food..! I ordered a California Cheeseburger (mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion) and onion rings. My boyfriend ordered the cheeseburger and a hot dog. All the food is very simple, but made fresh to order and is so so cheap. I couldn't get over the prices. Our entire meal (we each had a drink) was $15. The food tastes like someone's home barbecue...not out of this world, but simple and well done. However, when I ordered my Buffalo chicken wrap, I made sure to check off fried as well as add special instructions in CAPS that read "no bleu cheese please (:" When I received my order it had both bleu cheese and grilled chicken instead of fried. Tonight we decided to stop at Stewart's for dinner. When the waiter came out to take our order, he was friendly and talking to my niece and nephew in the back of the car. About 20-25 minutes later our food was brought out to the car. I asked the guy (a different waiter) if the window was okay the way it was and he told me yes. As he was putting the tray on the window we told him to hold on that it wasn't hooked. He proceeded to let the tray go which resulted in TWO root-beer floats spilling all over me, and the inside of my sisters car. He took the tray back inside and came out with small napkins. The scoops of ice cream and soda were mostly all over the carpeting of the floor and under the passenger seat. He asked if we still wanted our food and we said yes. He came out about 30 minutes later and asked how we wanted the food and at that point of being there almost an hour I said I would like it to go. It was long enough waiting with a two year old and a three year old in the car. One of the owners brought the food out and I voiced my opinion how we were most likely going to have to have the carpet shampooed and I didn't think it was our responsibility that we would have to pay for the shampoo. He went inside and came out with a towel and put it under the seat and told me there was nothing on the towel (after I just spent the last 30 minutes trying to clean up as much as possible) Not once did we receive an apology. I went in to speak to the other owner and her response was that we shouldn't have eaten in our car and it happens often. How is it fair that it happens "often" yet we are left responsible to clean up the mess as a customer? And isn't the point of Stewart's drive in to eat and enjoy food in your car? After the male continued screaming at me, in front of about 6 other customers and telling me to get out, I brought the food back in and put it on the counter. I've always loved Stewart's because you can get the same meals you remembered from many years back. Apparently that is no longer the case. The root beer was served in a glass mug, but not the frosty mug I expected. It just wasn't very cold at all. My chili cheese dog was luke warm with some sort of shredded cheese on top that didn't melt at all. Onion rings were good. While the food was not terrible, it just wasn't the same experience I've had at Stewart's over my lifetime. Disappointed. read more
