She didn't realize we didn't get drinks until after we are eating our food and have asked a thousand times. The food was burnt and the quesadilla had a piece of hair. My guest unexpectedly found a long skinny bone in her chicken breast. We experienced 4 thunderstorms which means we were there for over 2 hours waiting for our food and drinks when the restaurant was completely empty. My waitress brought me the wrong food and had to wait another 45 minutes. I loved this place as a child but unfortunately this trip ruined trip. read more

And yes, it's pretty cool to eat amongst rain forest animatronics. We drove one hour to Edison due to a horrible experience at the Atlantic City location the year prior. The place had less than 10 tables filled with customers upon our arrival. The beer selection is uninviting - and for 1 draft beer ($6), one seltzer water ($3.29!!) one water and 2 kids apple juices took about 15-20 minutes. The place and bar WAS NOT BUSY AT ALL !!!!! That should have been insight as to the progression of the meal. We ordered food for two kids (and three adults. The food took nearly 45-50 minutes to come out and our order was not complicated - kids pizza and Mac n cheese, appetizer chicken finger as adult meal, chicken fajita and half a roasted chicken - all with very simple French fries as a side. Not complicated!! The kids meals come out on mini cafeteria style plastic trays with compartments. "Cute". Pizza was not good, The adult entrees ... not so cute. We finished off with the birthday brownie volcano - it was over $10. At $110 bucks, we were beyond disappointed - perhaps of the service was more timely, our experience would have been better. We were there for over 2 hours and it was not even packed. Super disappointed! Well, I'm not the biggest fan of chain-type restaurants. Yet, Rainforest Cafe always seemed a good choice. My most recent visit has begun to change this perception. I came with my youngest daughter, under 10, and I will give them a plus for seating me close to the bathrooms. I don't like my kids going to restrooms by themselves because the world is sick, but being so close helped. Whether this was intentional or not, I don't know, but thank you to the hostess. I crack open a menu and I'm like, "Hello, higher than average prices for average type food!!" Seriously!!! A cheeseburger for almost $13 at this place. Not to mention everything seems to be on the $18-22 range on average. I don't mind paying for food, at times, but it better live up- ya know what I mean?!? Anyways, I got a $12 Reuben- whatever! Any run of the mill diner kicks this Reuben off the table. It was no big deal and was lackluster. My daughter got the kids St. Louis style ribs. What a joke this was as she got 3 ribs- no wait- actually 1 1/2 ribs cause they were cut in half. For almost $7 there should have been 3 whole ribs. How cheap. Now when a child her size eats everything and wants me to order something else cause she's still hungry, there is a real problem with portion sizes!!!! The waitress was really good and treated my daughter like she was leaving the tip. Very attentive and personable. I used to like this place, but I'm over it. No more Rainforest for me. So finally the GM of the restaurant calls me back and makes up some story that either he or the Landry's corporate office "lost my address" and that he needed it because it he wanted to send something to me right away. For some unknown reason he seemed surprised when I gently reminded him that my address could not have been lost because he hung up on me before getting it the last time we talked. He then got my address and the GC showed up in the mail in under a week. So I opted to give the GC away to a non-profit and they are going to use it as a prize for a future fundraiser. No way in hell I am going back to a place that was filthy and disorganized when we ate there and is equally disorganized in their "attempts" to make right the first screw up. Sorry Landry's but the food at this Rainforest is not very good, the place was filthy and disorganized and the back end customer service equally stinks. We're done with this place and we'll do what we can to steer people clear of this overpriced gimmick of a concept. read more

Such a fun place!! Food was really great, above diner type standards. Wait staff and manager go around and check in on the tables. They were extremely friendly. Cocktails were tasty! Café has periodic rainstorms where the lights flash, you hear thunder, and the animated animals come to life. Very fun. But if you have kids and are waiting to be seated try to keep them busy, or set rules before you get there, there's A LOT of fun stuff in the gift shop that they will want for sure. :D read more

This is not a romantic restaurant, you aren't going here for the food, you are going here for the theme aspect. It's a place for kids. The wait is astronomical all the time so be sure to call and make a reservation. A week before is probably best if it is on the weekend especially. If you have younger kids who are easily scared you may want to stay away because it can be a bit scary. Our server was just awful. Very slow, confused, extremely soft spoken, and shockingly awkward. In the past few months, it seems that the service has gone down hill a bit : waitresses seem spread thin, and it took forever and a day to get drinks. Otherwise, the food is decent. But no one comes here for the food . Its about the child-friendly atmosphere. The restaurant appearance hasn't changed at all since it opened (aside from the fact that there's no fish in the giant tank you walk past to get to the tables ...it's just bubbles now.) so it could use a bit of a face lift. As of 5/29/21 make reservations if you plan on coming here to eat. They are only seating people who have reservations on the weekends due to the difficulties bright on by the pandemic. The management was very accommodating , professional, listened to our concerns and ultimately made our day. The staff was excellent and the food was great. My boyfriend and I came because we heard the place was cool. It was cool but your definitely paying for the experience. It's a tourist attraction. We reserved at 5:30, arrived at 5:15 and didn't sit until 6:00. The place was 80% empty which is why we didn't understand how we waited so long. They keep reserve signs on tables that no one even sat on. Obviously to claim that it is reserved when it's not. When we finally sat down they placed us next to the wall where we couldn't enjoy the anima Tronics and received food. It was good but super expensive for a small portion of food. Fried chicken is super thin and felt like you were just eating bread crumbs. I had a mojito which tastes like punch. At least it came with the souvenir cup. My husband and I were coming to NJ to visit family and found out there was a rainforest café about a hour away! We had to visit. Throwback from my childhood. The wait: They took us back to our table right away. no issues there. We waited a while for someone to come take our drink orders. I would say 10-15minutes. and by that time we were ready to make our entrée orders. Appetizer: We got the mozzarella sticks. They were clearly the frozen type and were just " okay" nothing special.... at all... Our waiter, ( forgot his name ) was nice. Always reminded us that he was going to come back and get stuff off of our table ( appetizer plates & refills) other wise he was very short but nice. The food: Was really good. So my husband and brother-in-law drove out to Jersey today just to visit the Rainforest Cafe. We live on Long Island and were feeling nostalgic since we used to have one at the Source Mall in Westbury when we were younger. Well after eating the food and having a tropical drink we decided it was well worth the drive. When we arrived at noon, we were told it was a 40 minute wait which was fine so we decided to browse around the mall. When we came back we were promptly seated and our table was next to the rain falling and mist machines. We ordered Tidal Waves and Cancun Coolers for our drinks and they were delicious. For the appetizer we got the King's Platter and were pleasantly surprised with the quality. The calamari, wings, bruschetta, and pot stickers were quite tasty. For dinner we got the taco salad, stuffed chicken and a chicken/shrimp pasta. All tasted fresh and wonderful. And for dessert we got the chocolate brownie sundae volcano thingy. The ice cream was excellent and the brownies to die for! Our waiter was quite attentive, the food came out quickly and we loved the thunderstorms and jungle sounds! We only wish they would turn off the contemporary music and keep the jungle noises. We also missed the fishes in the aquarium arch. Overall, great experience and we plan on making the trip out again sometime soon! read more

My 5 year old loved it, but ooooh my god it's expensive. Like $17 for a turkey club sandwich expensive. I went with my mom, and 2 5 year old girls. My mom and I both thought our food was passable, she said her burger was greasy. My sandwich was good, (but how do you screw up turkey and cheese?). Visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. Walked up to the hostess and asked for a table of 4 said it would be 45 minutes, but when I told them I'm a Landry's select member they brought us right away to a table. Once seated and approached by our server she asked if we were Landry's select members and if so wanted to see confirmation. This membership seems to be a big deal here glad I had it. The decor of this place is unique and does give a feel of sitting in the rainforest minus the rain. The menu offers a variety of food items. I opted for the grilled chicken cesear which was average. Took a while for the food to arrive at the table. Service was very slow despite the restaurant not being full. Not really sure If this place is worth a second visit. read more

I came here for my younger sister's birthday. She was turning 13 and she pretty much begged my parents to come here to celebrate. I've only been to Rainforest Cafe once before.....17 years ago. I wasn't even sure what to expect since I only vaguely remember my experience there. I must say they decorate very nicely. If I was young, I would definitely enjoy sitting in a "rainforest" having dinner. The animals move and make noise every 5 minutes and they flash lights around the restaurant too. The food on the other hand.....was extremely expensive. You're really paying for the experience when you come here. I ordered fish tacos with fried fish and we got an appetizer platter to share at the beginning. The wings were pretty standard, something you would expect at Applebees and Ruby Tuesday's too. The calamari was pretty good, but then again, it's really hard to mess up something fried. The bruschetta was disappointing. It was so bland, they didn't even add garlic or basil or olive oil. There was definitely opportunity here. As for the fish tacos, they do give a lot of food, but the quality wasn't that great. The rice was pretty bland and dry. The beans were better. As for the fish tacos, they gave a HUGE portion of fish and it didn't seem to match the portion of sauce and lettuce and the tortilla. I couldn't even pick up the taco, I had to use my fork and knife to eat it. The fish was pretty tasty, but the crust is very thick. Had to remove some of the crust because I wasn't getting enough fish in some bites. Overall, if you have kids, this is a great place to go. They're going to love it. If not, you can do better, especially for their prices and the quality of food you receive. read more

This place is more of a cool setting for young children to come to and just enjoy the surrounding scenes. It does look like a forest and has animals that come alive every 15 minutes. The atmosphere is cool and stuff. My girlfriend and I had the Taste of Islands dish. It has breaded coconut shrimp, fish, scallops, and shrimp. It was alright. Maybe a little bit salty. My girlfriend's niece and nephew ordered from the kids menu. They had the Pizza and Pasta with white sauce. They seemed to thoroughly enjoy their meal especially when they got those souvenir animal cups. For dessert we had the Volcano Cake. They made look like a volcano, but it's really nothing special. It's a shame at how much business the restaurant had to turn away due to staffing issues. We walked in at 1:00 and the restaurant was empty. The hostess said they weren't taking walk ins and only accepting reservations and that they were all booked up. I didn't see any tables in there. Atmosphere is great for families and for kids to venture to different parts of the restaurant to see their favorite animals...However, There should be some sort of policy regarding having wait staff serve customers who are sick....After being served by one of the waitstaff, the very next day I became sick...wasn't sick prior and my guest was not affected by this wait staffer which I'm hoping they did not intentionally spit in my food just to make me sick..........This place was really, truly great in the past....just seemed almost like a magical feeling to really take the kids or venture as a family...The mindset of the younger generation however, is mind boggling and that same magical feeling is gone. read more

Had we been told that over the phone, we wouldn't have went there. Our non alcoholic beverages took about 20 minutes to come out. My silverware was dirty and had dried food stuck to it. There was food stuck in between our tables from the prior guests. Our food was awful, basically frozen bag chicken. Great atmosphere, especially for families. My family and I celebrated my son's 4th bday dinner at this location. Seena was our server and she was fabulous. She was very polite, knowledgeable and engaged in conversation with the Birthday boy. Keep up the great work!! The hosts are especially friendly, greeted us with smiles and set our table up right away. When I called initially to make a reservation the host who answered the phone was super sweet and just overall pleasant to chat with although it was just a few moments. my family and I were excited to go here but to be truthful with you it was very dark inside not only was it dark but it was virtually empty we ordered a platter of appetizers which were disgusting the chicken was really hard I mean really hard the dip was very sour and was not anything you could put a chip in it was awful actually it was not smooth and creamy it was hard and lumpy and sour tasting. We bought this to our waiters attention the manager said we could have 10 Off. It was really awful. The kids meals were nothing to write home about I could've whipped it out of the freezer and made it myself and our salads were not that great. I was wondering why this place got bad reviews and I know why today. My friend called in to make a reservation for 12 people for lunch and the manager told her it shouldn't be an issue. My guess is that the place was pretty empty and he didn't feel the need to mark it down as a reservation. I got to the place with my family before my friend so I told them we have a reservation for 12. Since I didn't make the call I don't know all the details provided and had to call my friend to confirm. In the end, they said they can seat us (the place was pretty empty) but before they seat us one of the host made this remark: "I don't appreciate your lying about the reservation." I was so shocked that I have to ask what he just said and he repeated it. He really thinks I would purposely make up a lie for an almost empty place. It is unnecessary. Even if a customer really have nothing better to do and lie, the host should know better to keep such thought to themselves. Please train them better! In the end a different host walk us to our table and our server was ok. I didn't make a scene in front of the kids but that really ruined my experience. Who knows if they would put stuff on our food just because they didn't appreciate that I "lie" about a reservation. read more

We went here early on a Sunday night. I haven't been here in a year, maybe two. We were seated right away since there weren't too many customers. They have an abundance of seating. We could have come in with a party of 10-15 and they would easily have accommodated us right away. Actually, two large parties 14 and 12 were seated near us. I was looking forward to the beautiful salt water fish that they have in their huge arch tank in the front and the other fish tank in the dining area. I was so disappointed to see that the huge front tank was empty with NO fish! And the other one was completely gone. I asked the host what happened and he said that they were moved to a new restaurant in Houston, TX! Well at least the fish are still alive and now the Texans are enjoying them. As for the food, we ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer. It was delicious! And I love how the tentacles were included, topped with scallions and diced red peppers which really complemented the dish. I also ordered the kale and red quinoa salad with lemon vinaigrette, which was too sour and lemony for my taste. My husband ordered the burger and it was under seasoned - he actually added salt and he NEVER adds salt. But the fries were good. Then we ordered the chocolate extinction. This dessert definitely was a cool presentation (pun intended) because it included a plastic cocktail shaker of dry ice with smoke coming out of it. It included 4 slices of decadent chocolate cake with 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and fudge on top. This dessert ($17.99) cost more than our meals ($14.99 for kale and red quinoa salad; $13.99 for burger and fries). Granted, it's intentionally supposed to be shared, probably 4 ppl can share it because the dessert itself is so rich, sweet and dense. The server was so nice. She even interacted with the kids. Actually the kids menu is on a paper place mat that has clip art pictures of the foods that kids are familiar with and all they needed to do was point and order. My kids age 4-6 were able to order for themselves! Then, while waiting for the food, they were busy coloring the activity side of the paper place mat. There was also a scavenger hunt to look for the animals in the restaurant where they can check off the boxes if they found them. The waitress asked if we wanted the kids' dishes to come out first or with our food. We opted for the first. They definitely know how young kids can be. Nice job on the kid friendliness aspect. I brought our 2 sons here (8 months and 4.5yrs) here last Sunday and also a few weeks back. Our older son loved the mac and cheese the first time but barely ate it this time (it looked like it was older and just heated up unfortunately). I ordered the veggie burger both times and it could have been hotter this time around but overall it was good. The fries are decent and the pricing is reasonable. The animals move every 15min or so and the show part with the storm and the animals moving and making noise occurs every 30min. Our oldest son loves it and even our 8 month old was intrigued this time around. You enter and exit through the gift shop so that's always fun as you try to convince your kid they don't need another stuffed animal, lol.
