Our first visit to Rainbow Oaks Restaurant was yesterday. The place is full of country charm and lots of character. There's plenty of indoor seating as well as a decent size outdoor patio. Even though it was Saturday around noon, we got a table right away. The host and the our server were polite and attentive. As for the food, they serve Texas size helpings no matter what you order. My girlfriend's salad was easily big enough for three persons. My chicken wrap and fries was enough food for two. The food was tasty, not amazing. Overall, a solid four-star experience. I had been here several times and always had fantastic food. However this time was a mixed bag. We had the Farm house skillet which was very good. We ordered it with tortillas and they were fantastic. The Skillet had wonderful flavor and was plenty of food. However, the NY Steak & eggs wasn't near as good. The steak was very bland and fatty. The hash browns were both undercooked and burnt at the same time. Not sure how that was accomplished. The eggs were good and cooked perfectly though. While it was busy, it was a Long wait for food. I loved this place. To start with, they have some of the tastiest pancakes I've had in a long time. I wish I would have ordered them (but luckily was able to pilfer a bit of my dad's). That is for sure what I'll order when I go back. I got the BLT, which was very good. The fried potatoes and onion rings were excellent! And I'm saying this even though they arrived cool. Normally this would really disappoint me, because I'm not into cold fries, but it didn't change the fact that they were perfectly cooked, coated, and tasty. Just wish they were also served at least warm, if not hot. Our food took quite a while to arrive, so I think the fried food sat too long before making it to my mouth. Our server was very friendly and he did his best to rush around and meet everyone's needs (I think they might have had a large, unexpected party outside and been understaffed). I also enjoyed a refreshing Mimosa with my lunch. My mom said the iced tea was good as well. The place has a comfortable ambiance including an air-conditioned dinning room and bar and a fun/social outside area. They have a patriotic tradition of standing to salute the flag in the room or on the screen (in the bar) for the National Anthem at noon each day. I've been waited to get a table with my dog over 20 minutes. The server is very professional though, another an hour to get my food served. If you think, this is not acceptable to wait more than 45 mins, this place is NOT for you. This open-faced country style burger, just exquisite typical American meal. Of course, with the American's favorite tallboy celebrated my new year. I'm so grateful for the gentleman who I've met on the road, recommend to check out "Rainbow", the rancher town. Sooo delicious! This was the closest good restaurant I could find from Pala resort. My sister and I came here around 6 pm on Friday and we waited around 10 min before we could be seated. I took the recommendation from yelp to try to Texas burger with a side of fries and onion rings. Man that was one of the best burgers I've had. There were 2 big burgers and just this meal alone can fill up 2 people. The burger had pickles, cheese, beef patty, beacon, avocado, onion ring, tomato to name some of the ingredients. I was already very full after not even finishing all the beef patty. The fries were also flavorful and soft. Coming from la didn't know that the sales tax was only 7.75% here. The whole meal for the two of us costed around $30 before tips, I thought it was good pricing, considering we also took home leftovers. We also ordered French toast and a sunny side up. The French toast was also so good! Definitely a heavy meal but I'd like to come back again! read more

I've always loved coming to this restaurant and have had many great experiences here, which is why this was so disappointing. We were seated and spent a good while dining and talking, unaware there was a wait. Being asked to make room for other guests is understandable, but the way it was handled was not. The staff member who approached us was very short and rude, which completely changed the tone of what had been an otherwise enjoyable visit. A little courtesy and professionalism would have gone a long way. I hope this was a one-off, because this place has always been one of my favorites. read more

After waiting for an hour for her oatmeal one in our group asked the owner how long does it take to make oatmeal the owner replied "I'm not the cook I don't know how long it takes. This is a review of two days we went here 2 weeks apart. Trust me you want to make this drive from down south or up north! Tucked away in Rainbow (after Fallbrook...before Temecula). There's even a cute gas station and a convenient store that has bakery and old school candy! I can't change my order. I always order the ribeye steak with soup of the day. First week we went out it was clam chowder and the second time it was Mexican tortilla soup. Both were so good I drank it up! The steak is so perfectly cooked it's unbelievable (I get it medium rare). The pink is so perfect that even on the reheat it is is still pink! Both times I got the baked potato, but the rest of the family tried mashed potato and the french fries. They were completely satisfied with their choices. At the front when you walk in there is a dryerase board with the daily specials. One of these days I am going to have to try one of those, by sacrificing my ribeye order. I hear that they meatloaf is one of their popular dishes! The location of this restaurant seems like its in the woods. Lol...at night when you are walking outside it seems like you are in one of those olden days horror movies. Plenty of parking outside around the facility. Inside there are pretty good number of seating available. It is always packed when we go, but there service is so quick. Besides the quality of their food, their customer service keeps me returning. They have a bar with TVs located on one side of the restaurant that's busy on football nights. read more

I was very disappointed in this establishment. I came here with a friend who had a service dog. The dog was under the table and provided no issues while we were there. Due to the long trip there my friend asked for and gave water to the dog. Upon doing so, a waiter came over and said that service dogs are not allowed to drink or eat while working. My friend informed them how service dogs are always working and they need to eat and drink while doing so as they are living creatures. The waiter got snippy and then the manager came over and informed us that they reduce to serve service dogs. They kept assisting we go outside with the dog but my friend has a medical issue with being cold easily and it was a cold day that day. Mind you, we were only trying to give the dog water which has never been an issue in the past anywhere we have gone. He is a small, well behaved, trained, and registered service dog. I am just truly surprised by their lack of compassion for someone who has medical issues and requires a service animal. read more

Unsuspectingly great food. It's located just off the freeway and shares a parking lot with a cute section of stores, like a general store, antique shop and candy store. So cute. The inside of the restaurant is huge. This is the second time visiting and the first time with the new owner. We were sat rather promptly on a Thursday afternoon around 11:15am. Great or so I think. But then no one acknowledged us for drinks until 20 mins later. Then I watched the waitress take food orders for other parties that came in after us including the couple directly behind us. She finally took our order 20 mins after the drinks. We waited patiently for our food as I continued to see other people getting their food who once again came in after us. Mind you there was four of us, not an epic order. As a matter of fact we all ordered sandwiches and fries. Difficult ??? Ummm no. Then we waited another 40 mins, where I had to wave someone down to get coffee and refills on water. Not one time did anyone check on us during this time. We finally got up and spoke to the manager who pretty much said "I have reservations for large parties that take precedent over four people's food". She was rude and dismissive and didn't seem to care. When I explained to her we were waiting over an hour for our food she was very patronizing and rude. My friends and I (group of 6) had called ahead and reserved a table for 12:30. We arrive at 12:20 and proceed to wait 20 minutes to get sat. We then get sat outside and told we would have our order taken in a second. 5-7 minutes later they proceed to sit a group of biker (around 10-12) at the table next to use. We wait around 30 minutes after we've been seated. They then go and take the group of bikers order before us. After that we wait another 15 minutes. We then have someone go say something about us and they then move us inside. After that they take our order and I asked about how long it would be. The waiter then in a rude and condescending tone said would be over 45 minutes to an hour to get our food and his reasoning is that it is a restaurant. Our own waiter doesn't even bother to refill our waters and a different lady that was waitressing other tables fills it for us. I leave and see the group of bikers that were sat after us finished with their food. All around some of the worst service we have every received I would never recommend this place to anyone. If I could give 0 stars I would. I've never left a review but because of the absolute horrific experience I felt this was to terrible not to let others know how bad it is. We have seen this place during our many times traveling. One time we stopped there I had to go to the bathroom and when I went in it was so busy and the food looked amazing on the tables I passed. I made a point to remember it for the future. So on this day we were stuck in traffic and had no dogs so we stopped to try it out. We are so happy we did!!( they have a patio so we could bring the dogs) On entering we notice a special board with a lot of enticing meals . We both ordered from the board. I got the Brisket dinner plate and my husband got 1/2 fried chicken and waffles. The staff was so friendly and quick to serve with a smile. Our server was Miriam Soto . The meals came in great time, hot and perfectly prepared. There was so much brisket on my plate I had to take more than 1/2 home to enjoy later. The bbq sauce was a perfect blend of sweet and smoky and tasted very good!! My husband's fried chicken was AMAZING !! The waffle that came with it was like no other waffle I've ever eaten. It was fluffy, airy and melt in your mouth. I got what they call French fries as one of my sides, it's curved cut potato's , not too thin cut and not too thick cut deliciously crispy , loved them:) The only complaint is my veggies were too al dente for my taste buds. Great little hidden gem that we have near Temecula. Waited about 20 minutes to be seated but not bad for a weekend. Food was delicious full of flavor and quality.
