This was my second time to visit this restaurant, and I have to say that looking from the outside you would never guess that this is a restaurant. Went to Rainbow Oaks restaurant with a family member who is a local and a regular. It was really good. I'm a connoisseur when it comes to tuna melts and theirs was excellent. Onion rings were tasty, too. One of the others ordered a special of corned beef and cabbage. I could see it was a generous portion and he said it was delicious. It put the pub we go to for this dish on St Paddy's Day to shame. The decor is roadhouse style. The service was just as you'd like it. Attentive but not intrusive. Definitely will return! read more

We came here for my parents' and sister's birthdays. It is really crowded and loud here. The parking situation is difficult but you are welcome to park further out west of the restaurant. We came here on a Sunday morning around 10:30am, so that's probably why it was so busy on the day we came. Waiting for a table took a while, especially since my parents insisted on bringing their dog with them. FYI, this place is dog friendly, but if you are coming with more than 2 people, expect to wait a while. Our server was nice, but I think he was waiting a lot of tables because it would take him a while to get our orders and food. No fault of his own. As far as the food, I found it to be very expensive. It was good, but I feel like I can get the same in downtown Fallbrook or Vista for cheaper. Not sure if I'll go back here again unless my parents want to meet here. This used to be our favorite spot. We have friends in from out of town and we raved about driving up to Rainbow Oaks from Escondido for breakfast. We had 5 people and a baby in stroller. A young man who we learned is the owners son (never seen him before in the many times we have enjoyed this place) sat us at a table right in front of the door. We requested one of the booths in the back and he immediately refused it saying he had to keep it open in case a party of 8 shows up. (It's a Friday morning by the way). The table we got sat at was constantly surrounded by people and incredibly uncomfortable with our sleeping baby so we again requested the booth and he very rudely told us no. We had a bad taste in our mouths at this point and felt very uncomfortable. Moments later a group of men walked in and said they have 6 and requested the booth. The rude host then said the same thing to them and sat them in a tiny booth where they did not fit comfortable. The men grabbed a chair and a tiny table for two to make their space accommodate them better since the host was holding out for two parties of 8 that were not guaranteed to show up. He went over to the men and started awkwardly yelling at them telling them they couldn't do that and they would have to wait for a table that fits their party if they didn't want to squeeze in to a tiny booth meant for 4 people. The men got up and left the establishment. We then decided we should do the same as the host made it clear our money wasn't good enough for him to provide good service and make us comfortable. He in turn lost 12 people waiting for parties of 8 to show up that probably never came. He then was incredibly rude to us as we left again making us feel like our money wasn't not good enough for him. We will not be returning to our once favorite restaurant. read more

Fallbrook residents, throw away any older gift certificates to this once amazing go-to restaurant. In town for a wedding and met sister for breakfast (no longer Fallbrook resident). New owner would not honor her gift certificate. Would not even accept it in trade for the $52 we used. When you buy a business you accept all of its debts. We lose $116 and she gains it. Great natural setting and convenient off the 15 fwy in fallbrook just south of the edge of Temecula. I ordered a NY steak and eggs with hash browns. The area was cooked on a Bbq grill with excellent flavor. My son had the sirloin steak and eggs and my other son had the special venison something breakfast dish - he loved it. Husband had the special omelette with peppers and cheese- huge and he ate it along with sharing a pancake that was really good! Service was average and they have a full bar for bloody Mary's. Our first visit to Rainbow Oaks Restaurant was yesterday. The place is full of country charm and lots of character. There's plenty of indoor seating as well as a decent size outdoor patio. Even though it was Saturday around noon, we got a table right away. The host and the our server were polite and attentive. As for the food, they serve Texas size helpings no matter what you order. My girlfriend's salad was easily big enough for three persons. My chicken wrap and fries was enough food for two. The food was tasty, not amazing. Overall, a solid four-star experience. I had been here several times and always had fantastic food. However this time was a mixed bag. We had the Farm house skillet which was very good. We ordered it with tortillas and they were fantastic. The Skillet had wonderful flavor and was plenty of food. However, the NY Steak & eggs wasn't near as good. The steak was very bland and fatty. The hash browns were both undercooked and burnt at the same time. Not sure how that was accomplished. The eggs were good and cooked perfectly though. While it was busy, it was a Long wait for food. This is the second time visiting and the first time with the new owner. We were sat rather promptly on a Thursday afternoon around 11:15am. Great or so I think. But then no one acknowledged us for drinks until 20 mins later. Then I watched the waitress take food orders for other parties that came in after us including the couple directly behind us. She finally took our order 20 mins after the drinks. We waited patiently for our food as I continued to see other people getting their food who once again came in after us. Mind you there was four of us, not an epic order. As a matter of fact we all ordered sandwiches and fries. Difficult ??? Ummm no. Then we waited another 40 mins, where I had to wave someone down to get coffee and refills on water. Not one time did anyone check on us during this time. We finally got up and spoke to the manager who pretty much said "I have reservations for large parties that take precedent over four people's food". She was rude and dismissive and didn't seem to care. When I explained to her we were waiting over an hour for our food she was very patronizing and rude. Needless to say we left there with no food to be had. Won't be visiting this place ever again. read more

We were seated and spent a good while dining and talking, unaware there was a wait. Being asked to make room for other guests is understandable, but the way it was handled was not. The staff member who approached us was very short and rude, which completely changed the tone of what had been an otherwise enjoyable visit. My friends and I (group of 6) had called ahead and reserved a table for 12:30. We arrive at 12:20 and proceed to wait 20 minutes to get sat. We then get sat outside and told we would have our order taken in a second. 5-7 minutes later they proceed to sit a group of biker (around 10-12) at the table next to use. We wait around 30 minutes after we've been seated. They then go and take the group of bikers order before us. After that we wait another 15 minutes. We then have someone go say something about us and they then move us inside. After that they take our order and I asked about how long it would be. The waiter then in a rude and condescending tone said would be over 45 minutes to an hour to get our food and his reasoning is that it is a restaurant. Our own waiter doesn't even bother to refill our waters and a different lady that was waitressing other tables fills it for us. I leave and see the group of bikers that were sat after us finished with their food. All around some of the worst service we have every received I would never recommend this place to anyone. If I could give 0 stars I would. I've never left a review but because of the absolute horrific experience I felt this was to terrible not to let others know how bad it is. I loved this place. To start with, they have some of the tastiest pancakes I've had in a long time. I wish I would have ordered them (but luckily was able to pilfer a bit of my dad's). That is for sure what I'll order when I go back. I got the BLT, which was very good. The fried potatoes and onion rings were excellent! And I'm saying this even though they arrived cool. Normally this would really disappoint me, because I'm not into cold fries, but it didn't change the fact that they were perfectly cooked, coated, and tasty. Just wish they were also served at least warm, if not hot. Our food took quite a while to arrive, so I think the fried food sat too long before making it to my mouth. Our server was very friendly and he did his best to rush around and meet everyone's needs (I think they might have had a large, unexpected party outside and been understaffed). I also enjoyed a refreshing Mimosa with my lunch. My mom said the iced tea was good as well. The place has a comfortable ambiance including an air-conditioned dinning room and bar and a fun/social outside area. They have a patriotic tradition of standing to salute the flag in the room or on the screen (in the bar) for the National Anthem at noon each day.
