We've been coming to this shop for many years. This is a small family owned crack seed shop located in the Windward City Shopping Center just around the corner from Ross. They have a large selection of gummies, li hing mui candies, hurricane popcorn, nori crackers, and other types of sweets. They also have dried seafood, arare, fortune cookies, puff rice cakes, and other snacks. They even have a selection of plushes and other smalls toys. They also have ice cream, bubble drink, smoothies, icee, halo-halo, and shave ice. I recommend trying their halo-halo with the ube ice cream or the rainbow sherbert. The serving size is decent and prices are reasonable. Service has always been friendly. We always look forward to stopping here anytime when we're in Oahu. read more

I stopped by Rainbow Crack Seed in Kaneohe mostly because there were not a ton of shave ice options nearby, and overall I thought it was just okay. The shave ice itself leaned more gritty than fluffy, which was a little disappointing since that soft texture is usually half the fun for me. The flavors also tasted more artificial than I was hoping for and did not really stand out. The shop did have a big selection of packaged snacks and treats that actually looked pretty tempting, though I did not end up trying anything beyond the shave ice. I would not go out of my way to visit again, but if you are nearby and really craving shave ice, it gets the job done well enough. read more

Went this afternoon to get a bag of hurricane popcorn. I think it was 13 bucks, totally not worth it. Asked for extra butter also, they charged an extra 2.50 for that, kind of ridiculous. Found this place because my friend was craving crackseed, shave ice, candy, etc. The first time I went I got the hurricane popcorn, seeds, and malt chocolate balls. What I really went crazy for is the hurricane popcorn. Let me tell you, this place by far is the best I've ever tasted! Taste like the original from cosmic candy in waikele. Extra butter, is how I order it. The flavor is so addicting! I don't care I live west side, if it's good, I'll travel no matter how far it is. They have ice cream, boba drinks, snacks galore! Here's the thing, some reviews are clearly from tourist who don't understand how local mom and pop crack seed operate - Ignore those. I can't believe people are complaining about price of the shave ice - it reflects the size and also inflation. I have no problem supporting small local businesses and paying their prices. This is what there is to know - Shave ice is done operating at 5pm Popcorn is 3:30pm (actually not too sure I didn't take a pic) They have what you'd expect from lots of crack seed stores - li hing gummies, mochi crunch, jars of pickled goodies, icee float, with some added plushies and toys. I came in for their shave ice - crunchy yet fine ice with an array of flavors - I got strawberry colada, mango, and guava. ALWAYS ADD CONDENSED MILK ON TOP - iykyk PROS - their small is HUGE and my favorite part is they put toppings at the bottom of their bowls below the ice cream so you'll get that with the ice at the bottom. We were running errands at Windward City Shopping Center and my daughter is obsessed with Shave Ice. After lunch, we decided to stop by Rainbow Crack Seed. It was perfect since my husband was also going on a trip soon, and needed some snacks for the plane ride. We got some snacks and of course shave ice. It is huge! We could not eat it fast enough. This place is hit and miss. Shave Ice isn't cheap anymore. The issue I have with this place is the inconsistency in service. Of four visits during our stay, once we missed the closing of serving shave ice by ten minutes (not much of an apology) and once the store was closed because the register was broken (but we had cash). The interactions when we did order were average at best. A couple times people were friendly, but half of the time it was like robots were serving us My feel is a mom and pop shop should be run exceptional since you're competing against bigger businesses. Get loyal customers because you treat them well and take it to the next level. To be fair maybe they are not hiring the best and I'll leave it at that. Regarding some of the other posts... Rainbow Crack Seed has been in business for a long time serving the Kaneohe community. They don't need your pompous suggestions on how to run their business. They have loyal customers who follow basic etiquette. If you arrive after they stop serving shave ice, don't expect them to prolong their cleanup for your convenience. If the cash register is broken, why do you expect them to take your cash? They are not street vendors. Service is great. Friendly to all those who treat them with respect. This is my go to, for shave ice in the Kaneohe area! It's right across the walkway from Foodland in Windward City and has all kinds of yummy local snacks too. The shave ice is smooth without any chunks and the syrups are just like I remember them from childhood. Plus the ladies who operate the store know just how much syrup to put so you don't get any white chunks hiding inside (My pet peeve). My kids all have their favorite flavors, but I stick to the traditional Rainbow. There's ice cream or snow caps (condensed milk)or even azuki beans to add on if you wish. And all of your order is done with speed, efficiency, and beautiful smiles. I love the vibe here as much as I do all the great snacks. Just remember to get there an hour or more before closing time because the machines take a while to clean and that's the cut off for Shaved Ice or Bubble Tea. With Covid-19 the hours have been shortened so I make sure to get there before 4 Tues-Thurs. And before 5 Friday through Sunday. I was searching for candy stores on the East side when this store popped up on my search. After reading the reviews, I had some thoughts about how wondrous it was on the inside walking into a local version of Willy Wonka, but to my surprise i was let down. What made it more enticing to visit was because it was a mom and pop type of store. I thought it would be well stocked but to my surprise not really. I mean the jars were full of an assortment of crackseed and pickled mango and the shelves were stocked but other parts of the store seemed empty...were the icee machines working? who knows. Yum!!! Recently, the family was finishing dinner at Windward City Shopping Center and the conversation turned toward dessert options. My son and mom were both returning to the mainland the next day, so we wanted something local-ish, which meant shaved ice, of course. Since we live in town, we weren't familiar with shaved ice places on the windward side. A quick Yelp search, however, fortunately directed us to Rainbow Crack Seed only a few steps away! Rainbow Crack Seed is a fun, mom and pop, local snack shop. There are tons of prepackaged snacks, but also crack seed in the big glass jars - old school style - awesome!!! There was a selection of Dave's ice cream, popcorn, boba drinks, halohalo, and shaved ice, too. We got a halohalo, which was good, but prepared/assembled differently compared to other halohalo we've had: scoop of vanilla ice cream on the bottom instead of ice, another scoop of ube ice cream on the top, no agar/gelatin, and no beans. We also got a couple small shaved ice to share. The ice was fine/smooth. Not the finest/smoothest we've had, but at least it wasn't that crunchy/slushy stuff other places try to pass off as shaved ice. Good selection of flavors/syrups and extras (condensed milk, popping boba, etc.) All in all, everyone's sweet tooth was satisfied and we now have a great snack stop when we're on the windward side. read more

It's a snacker's paradise at Rainbow Crack Seed. They have a big selection of seed, snacks, candies, locally made products, shave ice, ice cream, bubble drinks, Icee, and freshly popped popcorn. Since they don't open until 10 am, I usually try to hold off on our weekly marketing at Foodland until after 10 am so that I can pick up a an Icee w/ice cream or bag of chocolate covered gummy bears on the way to the car. I've walked past this place so many times, but I was always in a hurry to get somewhere. This time, I was determined to stop in. Since I was exploring, I was grabbing small bags of various items I wanted to try, and ended up spending about $30 without even realizing it. But it's all worth it because it's all so very tasty. As for their COVID practices, the amount of people allowed in the store are limited, especially since the store itself isn't very big. Masks are also required.
