This place has been here forever! A great place to get "ICEE" I can order it with a scoop of ice cream too ! The popcorn is not as ono as it used to be. Did they change something? I'm giving it 2 stars because they discontinued the punch card, the popcorn quality went down & Every time I go in there, the manager snobs her customers! She looks @ who comes into the shop then turns around to continue her little jobs.Not a shout out "hello!"? Are you not thankful for your customers? My bf took me here to show me that I could get omiyage here for my fam back home, but I was overwhelmed by all of the options!! We were preparing to go camping so I thought we could come back another day so I didn't pick out too many things. I did get a li hing gummi mixed pack for myself...selfish...and it was good. He also got shave ice here and it was just rainbow but it was still yummy. I am so impressed by how fine all the shave ice is everywhere we went. He shared with me which was nice. :} I wouldn't know the goodness of it until later, but he got popcorn, too. I have heard of hurricane popcorn before, but not tsunami. He got a large bag of tsunami popcorn which is like hurricane because it has the arare and furikake but also has chives, and sour cream and something else that I can't remember. We didn't eat it until our camping dinner that night, along with dinner I should say. It was so good!!! So much flavour in every bite, he said. We ate it again the next day and he even told me he just finished it like a couple days ago. The large was huge and it lasted so long. I would definitely recommend it. We went to visit my father-in-law at the graveyard and decided to get shave ice after. We usually go to Shimazu's on school street but someone in our party said they heard Rainbow Crack Seed had good shave ice. Since we were in the area we decided to give it a try. What a mistake! The older lady, whom I think was the owner, was very rude. We brought 14 people into her shop - you'd think she would be grateful. We ordered 13 shave ice (most with ice cream), bag Hurricane popcorn, bag honey milk balls, bag olive cake, bag li hing mui seed, and bag li hing lychee gummies. After 3 of us gave her our shave ice flavors a group of 3 and a single lady walks in so we decided to let them go ahead of us so they wouldn't have to wait forever. The owner yells at the younger girl to help whoever walks up to the register because they don't have time to wait for our flavors. What's bi7ch! We let her know we were letting the other people go in front of us so they didn't have to wait long. The other customers thanked us and we continued to give our flavors. The girl rings us up before I got a chance to give mine and didn't ring some of our candies so we told her we'll just pay separately since my brother-in-law was already in the process of paying. She gave him his receipt and told him he got a $5 reward on his next purchase. He tells her to put it towards our check and she says ok. When she rings us up we ask her if that was with the $5 off and she says, "yes". However, when we got the receipt it didn't reflect $5 off so we asked her where it was and she said she forgot to deduct it. OMG! We ask her if she can just refund us $5 and she asks the owner and gets yelled at again! The owner yells that the person who got the reward usually has to use it because it's attached to their phone number but if he wants to give it away then he can. WTF?? So she yells at the young girl that she has to do a refund and ring us in again then apply the discount. So the girl does and can't figure out how to do it. With an attitude the owner comes and tries to do it herself but then tells us she can't find the reward. We show her the first receipt that clearly states we got one and she tries for another 10 minutes to figure out what went wrong and finally decides to just refund us $5. What a dumb bi7ch. We will never go back because of her lack of customer service and how she treats her employees. If I were the young girl I would've walked out and quit! The shave ice was not very good. It was not the fine kind of ice that really holds the syrup like Shimazu has. The flavors tasted watered down. The ice cream was more like soft serve. The olive cake was extremely dry (like waaay more than it usually is) and old/stale tasting. Oh and did I mention, the owner was a rude ass bi7ch! I just got home 9 hrs later and checked my credit card online and it doesn't show a refund for the 2nd transaction she said was refunded before charging us again. Not sure if it takes a while to show up but I'm definitely keeping track of it. read more

After hearing from so many people, my BF and I were on a mission to find the best hurricane popcorn. Went to Long's Drug one night and the cashier told us that this little joint in Kaneohe has the best hurricane popcorn. Welps...i agree, sort of. Unfortunately, by the time that we got there they were almost closed and had already turned off the popcorn machine..so boo. We didn't get to try the hurricane popcorn that was made properly by them, but the staff was very nice in giving me distinct directions on how to make it at home with their prepackaged hurricane popcorn mix. Well..perhaps we didn't do such a good job, since it turned out okay. But i can see how if all the toppings were nicely incorporated and glued together by the appropriate amount of butter, that stuff would be amazing. I really want to be a fan. I really do because I want to give my business to a mom and pop shop as they are starting to disappear. But is this place really one? I remember coming here as a kid while living in Kaneohe. However, I just recently came here this past weekend and I didn't have that feeling. They have a good selection of products. Prices are reasonable if not cheaper than most places. But the customer service was not there. There was 4 people that seemed like they were working there. However, they were all chatting. Just one person ringing up and making my Icee. You would think one ring up and the other make the Icee. As I was walking out, I noticed that the Icee was dripping down my hand and down my white short. I was really upset not looking at the Icee and getting a napkin before walking out. Finally made it here! Their selection is stupendous and the prices pretty reasonable. Located in the Windward City Shopping Center near Foodland and Long's Drugs in Kaneohe. The parking can sometimes be challenging, but once you find a spot, walk to this place and get your goodies! From crack seed to bubble tea to arare and candies. Reminded me of the Mom & Pop shops from years ago! The place is small and was packed when I went, but the line goes fast and the young ladies in there are super friendly and fast! I'm confused, surprised, and intrigued about the bubble drink I just enjoyed from Rainbow Crack Seed this afternoon. Made a stop here because my boyfriend wanted an icee float and I decided to try a boba drink. Priced at $4.10 and made from powder I had pretty low expectations. Just a few sips in and I was impressed! No hard and crunchy ice crystals from not being blended well, but instead smooth and creamy yumminess. But the boba is what made me say "hmmmm". The firm texture was great, but the flavor wasn't the norm. It had a strawberry/li hing-like taste. The bubbles were a transparent red color and I just couldn't stop sippin'! Anyone know what's the deal with the mystery bubbles? Was this just a fluke? A one off??? So many questions!!!! read more

I love me some Rainbow Crack Seed! They've got all the good stuff here as far as Li-Hing candy and seeds go. I pretty much love Li-Hing covered anything, so this place always makes me happy. They do have more than just Li-Hing Mui covered candies and snacks, though. They also have a variety of chocolate covered goodies, malt balls, pretzels, cuttlefish, mochi crunch...and the list goes on and on. Yep, they have a great variety, and you can have them put together cute little gift baskets of all your faves for special occasions. They even ship to the mainland, so you can send you distant ohana a little piece of home. :) Aside from all of their bagged goodies, they also make shaved ice and bubble tea's in a pretty big variety of flavors, Icee's (Pepsi or Strawberry, add ice cream or li-hing for a little extra), smoothies, popcorn (including the local favorite, Hurricane mix- furikake and mochi crunch), and even the new trend called snow ice, which is like a cross between shaved ice and ice cream. Its sort of creamy, but really light at the same time. It looks "different," for lack of a better word, but it tastes awesome and is definitely worth a try. All of the prices here are super reasonable, the workers are friendly and quick, and it's within a big shopping center so there is plenty of parking [although I'm not gonna lie, the parking lot can be a bit of a nightmare if you come at the wrong time. Pros: Good variety of old school and new school treats. Great place to get a thoughtful gift for kids or teachers etc. because you can't go wrong with a customized candy lei. Popcorn is BOMB! Cons: it's true, the staff isn't necessarily the friendliest. Another con is that recently it seems that they are ALWAYS out of bubbles. How the heck do you drink bubble tea without bubbles? That needs to be fixed more so than the workers attitudes. My dad and I drive up here every time we visit and buy so much seed we have to buy a box to ship it home! Service and workers are so friendly and the seed and snacks are so yummy. I got a li hing icee for the first time ever and I absolutely loved it!!!! (Strawberry with li hing powder AND li hung juice add on) be warned though it is not for the faint of heart li hing lover! I must have passed by this place about 4,000 times and even though I have an incredible obsession with li hing covered fruits, I never went inside. This is due to the fact that they just seemed to have too much going on to be GOOD at making what I love so much. I usually go down the road to the crack seed store next to the Sprint Store (closer to the mall) --but was craving li hing mui while shopping at Foodland so I decided to stop by a few weeks ago. Purchased some li hing pineapple and was pleased. Today I decided to get mango (my fav. fruit to sprinkle some li hing on top of) and also strawberries. The mango is awesome! I like it both with the dry powder and the juice--but I usually like the li hing juice ones more...Rainbow crack seed changed my mind (at least temporarily, haha). This mango is probably some of the best tasting I've had in awhile :) Definitely impressed. It's good to know this place is right down the road from where I stay...every time a craving hits I can just take a quick drive down. read more

The products are good and I like the way they make their hurricanes. However, getting the things that I like in a convenient location comes at the price of poor customer service. One more than one occasion I've found them to be indifferent and uninterested in their customers, unless you are a personal friend / family in which case they can't do enough to help you. Even though it is a small store, there are a lot of goodies sold here that can turn your good day into a great day. They have a lot of the local favorites (dried ika, li hing mui based products, wet lemon peel, pickled plumb ect). They also have ice cream, bubble tea, shave ice, icy/icy floats, snow, and halo halo. Little mom and pop shop which isnt necessarily bad, they had lots of varieties but they ran out on items I wanted. They didn't have Li Hing Pineapple or Mangos when I went in. They did however have Li Hing Sour belts and gummy bears and watermelon slices... *Drooools So came in hoping they had these items, slightly disappointed but at least I got my sugar fix. They do have a frequent buyer card which I always make sure I bring and get stamped. Products are delicious, but their workers need to change or improve. There is the set of sisters who are older than the workers, but have the same maturity level as their workers. When you walk in, you don't get greeted, but I'm not surprised. If you don't know what you want, I would recommend standing on the side & observing the menu until you find something you like. Don't bother asking the workers for suggestions. Their answer is always "I don't know". They cater to their friends or people they know.
