pros - lovely, friendly service - homemade flavors - amazing ice quality - eye catching bright, yellow mobile food truck cons - very thin paper cup / cone that will definitely have syrup flowing down your hand in seconds - upselling to a 'reusable' plastic cup for $2 - no water / sink for washing your sticky hand(s) afterwards - expensive: $8 / per shaved ice & $1 / topping - limited toppings-no mochi - use of unnecessary food coloring in syrup

We used Tats Shaved Ice for our daughter's graduation party. Everyone loved it! Ice was soft and syrups were awesome.

Small is now $3.50 and $4.00 for the large. $0.50 price increase but still cheap & worth it. Not always consistent with days and times but such a pleasant surprise when you do catch them outside of bay view golf course! 3 flavor max and $0.25 extra for cream flavors. Flavors include: strawberry, banana, vanilla, coconut, pineapple, li Hing mui, grape, cherry, lemon lime, grape & lilikoi

"Friendship Garden"... Doesn't that sound like a cool place? I was looking for this hiking spot in Kaneohe, Oahu, when I saw the bright yellow Shave Ice truck on the side of Kaneohe Bay Drive, right after passing Castle High School. Since I wasn't able to find Friendship Garden, I drowned my sorrows in Tats Shave Ice. Good move, since it was a "HOT" 83 degrees on a warm January day in Hawaii... The truck was parked on the grassy area in the shade in front of the Bay View Mini-putt & Zipline, next to the Bay View Golf Course. There is free parking alongside the truck, on the lawn. There was a short line, but it moved fairly quickly. Service was quick and friendly - they even humored me when I asked that they hold my shave ice lower where the sun could shine on it and I could get a better picture of it with the sign in the background - haha! I ordered a plain, small Rainbow flavored shave ice. The 3 primary colors of red (strawberry), yellow (banana), and blue (vanilla) are the best deal because the colors merge and form 3 additional colors: Orange, green, and purple - so pretty! Small size (which is quite large) is $3.50, and large size is $4.00. Cup holders are 50 cents - a good idea since the paper cone gets mushy after a while. Next time, I would bring a large bowl and pour my shave ice into the bowl! LOL! Other flavors available include regular ones like grape, rootbeer, cherry, lemon-lime, and orange; and tropical flavors such as lychee, li hing mui, pineapple, coconut, and lilikoi. The creamy flavors are 25 cents more (strawberry frost and orange frost). You may order up to 3 flavors maximum at one time. If you want additions, azuki bean is 25 cents; li hing powder is 50 cents; white cap (condensed milk) is 50 cents; and ice cream with specks of vanilla bean is 25 cents! Tats Shave Ice is available for parties, fundraisers, and special events. Just call them at (808)221-7525 or get on the mailing list: whereistats@gmail.com. Ask them where they will be next! My personal tips for better shave ice enjoyment: 1. Face the wind - unless you have a ponytail or crew cut! 2. Lean forward - so it doesn't drip on your lap or feet! 3. Consume in the sunshine - you'll get cold soon! 4. Alternate spoon and straw action! 5. Enjoy!

Tat's Shaved Ice participated in the Sept. Eat the Street event. My son quickly eye'd it out since he loves shaved ice, and it was something refreshing for him to eat on a humid sunny afternoon: Rainbow Shaved Ice - 3 stars - for $4, we got the rainbow shaved ice. Although the shaved ice they gave was pretty huge, compared to other shaved ice stores we've been to, there wasn't much of a selection for additions (only icecream, azuki beans or li hing mui flavoring), and a little pricier for basic shaved ice. Service - 4 stars - staff was friendly and courteous.

The tats shaved ice truck is hard to miss and is iconic in Hawaii! We had the chance to have the tats shaved ice truck come to our church community event! The consistency of the ice was great, the amount of syrup was just right, and their flavors were delicious! I high recommend this shave ice to anyone who loves a well put together shaved ice from Hawaii!

Tats was the bomb!! I had an issue with another slush vendor and even though it was 2 days before our event, Kelvin totally worked it out for us! EVERYONE raved about the awesome shave ice and loved it! Thank you Tats! Forever grateful

The best shave ice ever. Been eating it since high school days. I normally have half coconut half lychee with double snow cap.

The next size up has a minor up charge for two flavors in the same cup, but it's just north of $6 for a lot of ice cream. 4/ VIBES: The indoor seating is limited to two tables but the benches extend to the outside. The shop is tiny, bright, and open-air, with pale wood, a checkerboard counter, a few small tables and stools, and just enough surf/skate detail to feel like Kailua without trying to sell you Kailua I had the mint chip and Mānoa dark chocolate mac nut. My wife had Kona Snow, which is $2 extra as a premium flavor, and miso salted caramel. All four were worth paying attention to, which is not always true in a multi-flavor order. The ice cream is thick in the correct way: dense, cold, and substantial, but not gummy or punishing. It eats like someone cared about texture, not just sugar They also do not skimp on the actual things promised in the name. Mint chips, dark chocolate bits, and mac nuts showed up in every bite, instead of making one ceremonial appearance near the top. It is too easy to stop in for a quick casual scoop, which is dangerous, but at least the danger is well made

It's a nice little store with a great selection of frozen yogurt, toppings, and sauces. You can really go crazy here with candies, cereals, boba, fruits, brownies, cookies, and all sorts of goodies to go on your yogurt. There were about 12 different frozen yogurt flavors available on the day I went, from chocolate to cinnamon, cappucino and fruity flavors. Basically, you can mix up the frozen yogurt of your dreams. There were plenty of cups, spoons, and napkins, and the checkout process was quick and easy. This was much more reasonable in price than the froyo place nearest me. Sadly, I'm not normally out in Kailua but I will make it a point to stop here when I am!

They definitely have a lot of choices. However, the shaved ice was absolutely atrocious. It's a make-your-own setup with a machine, but the ice melts almost immediately as soon as you pour any flavor on top. Instead of having that soft, fluffy shaved ice texture you expect in Hawaii, it just turned into a watery mess within seconds. For how expensive it was, the quality really did not match the price at all.

It was so yummy, I love the fresh warm bubble waffle. I could eat it plain for how good it was. Upon entering, there is a table with an ordering menu that you fill out for the ice cream. There are no cones and no "parlor" for ice cream- only written options. The standard flavors of vanilla, creamy strawberry and chocolate are available as base choices. There were two "special" flavors of the day that was kona mud pie and another unique option. You can check off on the menu PER item how you want your ice cream in regards to toppings, syrups, in a cup or bubble waffle, single scoop or multiple scoops, etc. Hubby ordered a boba tea that you don't need to fill out on the menu sheet. I'm personally not a huge fan of boba, but he enjoyed it. The lime grape boba tea was what he ordered. As for ice cream, we ordered the following combinations: -Red velvet bubble waffle "cone" with kona mud pie ice cream and chocolate syrup - Classic bubble waffle cone with vanilla ice cream, strawberries and rainbow sprinkles - chocolate bubble waffle cone with creamy strawberry, oreo cookie crumbs and chocolate syrup The red velvet and classic bubble waffle were my favorite. The creamy strawberry ice cream was really good but the other flavors were on the sweet side- no additional toppings were necessary- in fact, I think it was overkill (though beautiful in presentation. I would probably come here again with the kids, but these are a little challenging to eat, in all honesty. The bubble waffle as a cone is nice, but not sturdy. The ice cream is nice, though options of flavor are limited. The ordering process is a little tedious when ordering multiple items, but it's understandable in order to get each one right. Cool stop if you're in the area. We walked there from Whole Foods Kailua main road (back) entrance.
