The store is located to the left of Times, in the corner. Plenty of parking and a beautiful view of the mountains. That's the only reason I gave 2 stars. Customer service is terrible. I'll explain later. Before we even went to the location, we yelped it. We saw they had Açaí bowls and shaved ice. When we walked up to the store, the front window had all the items that was "available." I'll post the picture. When we walked in, we asked the older man if we could have 2 Açaí bowls. He yelled and said it's not açaí bowls, it's only the bottom part...NO FRUITS! My daughter pointed at the picture that had an açaí with fruit, right behind the old man. He said no fruits!! Ok fine, so we are still getting charged $8.60 for a medium size cup of only the açaí and no fruits? That's pretty expensive. Even the very best açaí bowls with fruit aren't that much!!! So we decided on the shaved ice, he said we don't sell shaved ice here! Now I'm really confused. Maybe they use too. But all the Yelpers/customers had pictures of shaved ice and açaí bowls. Our 4 girls decided on the ice cream that was in the deep freezer by register. The older lady kept shutting the freezer door on my girls because they took too long to decide. It's not like the ice cream was going to melt in 30 seconds, but whatever. Never again will I come here! The pictures I posted are of the front windows. If you're ever in Kaneohe, you've got to stop here! This spot has been one of my favorites for years. They've got the best boba (melon is my go-to), plus all the classic treats that bring back the best childhood memories of my favorite crackseed store. The owners are always so kind and welcoming whenever I come in with my kids, which makes it even better. Hoping they're open tomorrow because I'm already craving my local favorites again! Today was a Saturday and they were open...thankfully! Honestly I got that scared feeling my aunty would give me when I was a kid and never wash my feet before going in her house in this store. Went for shaved ice but never see one machine behind the counter and so we settled on one Icee. Went to go grab and uncle was like "I'll get it for you". Was kind of surprising...I can see how people might think these guys is rude n stuff but to me...this is like...REAL local Asian because when we got out the store and took a sip I swear this was the BEST Icee I ever had in my life. The texture of the mix was soft like one mix between a slurpee and one shave ice and wasn't too sweet or too watery. To me, it was PERFECT! I would definitely drive over here from town just to get their Icee. This place is a gem and so are the people working here! read more

This is a cute little snack shop located in Kaneohe next to the DMV. Honestly I'm never out in this neck of the woods, but my daughter was trying to get her drivers permit which was delayed several months due to COVID-19. Anyway, I digress. The snack shop looks like it has quite a variety of treats, but the actual shop is closed and you can only buy things through a window now. I get it since the owners are older and don't wanna get sick from people coming into their tiny shop. Anyway, it was such a hot day and we're at the DMV for literally three hours. I ended up buying bubble tea. I purchased the regular milk tea which was delicious and a much thicker consistency than I was used to having. More like a smoothie than a water down drink. Service was fast and friendly. I would definitely come back to get another bubble tea if I'm back in this neck of the woods! read more

Smoothies are pricey but the acai & the pitaya I know for sure are made from the actual frozen fruit. They use just the right amount of sugar, not too much. And I love how they tie the napkin around the cup. I call it their signature napkin tie. Very tasty & refreshing ! The couple are friendly & always nice. read more

Now that I live on the Windward Side of Oahu, I'm appreciating Ko'olau Center more! It's very close to Windward Mall - just a few minutes' drive on Kahekili Highway and you're there! It's across from the entrance to Valley of the Temples and Kyoto-In Temple. Just look for McDonald's, turn in to Hui Iwa Street, and turn left. Times Grocery Store will be on your right. Consolidated Theater will be straight in front of you. There's also a karaoke place, a Driver's License office, Subway, Ninja Sushi, Chinese Food, and Times Coffee Shop. Other businesses include a nail salon, Hina Mauka and a dialysis center. There's a great variety of shops here. The only drawback might be the access. Kahekili Highway is a bottleneck since there's only one lane of traffic each way. Just avoid the going home rush and you'll be fine! read more

Ko'olau Snack Shop is located right next to the Ko'olau DMV and Longs. It's a little more out of the way for most people, and I honestly wouldn't come here unless I was coming here to go to the DMV (there isn't much more in the little shopping center it is located in. I went in to grab some snacks while my boyfriend went to the dmv. I noticed a lot of their crack seed comes from thailand or malaysia. I'm guessing they buy wholesale from many other asian countries and repackage the crack seed at their store. It's good that they label which ones come from which places though. I don't really trust crack seed from places like thailand (I've been to thailand, I've seen some things I can't unsee), so I opted for some crack seed that was said to be from SIngapore and another from Hong Kong. Both my selections were yummy. I liked the selection of other li hing mui and mango, etc. so I'll probably be back to search the racks for more items from singapore or hong kong, maybe even taiwan. They have other packaged snacks in addition to shave ice and boba. It didn't seem like a very popular place, and it's kind of sad that little businesses like this are becoming few and far between. I mean, I know Longs sells crack seed too, so I guess they added the shave ice and boba to differentiate themselves. I'd still rather come to places like this to get crack seed than Longs. :) read more

Mr. And Mrs. Lee of the former Lee's BBQ continue their top notch customer service at the Koolau Snack Shop. They are the kindest Asian business owners I've ever met!! Not just great business people but also after getting to know them the many times I've visited, I can honestly say I don't think there's anyone whose stepped in their shop and not had a good experience. I love seeing the happy little kids that go there with their parents after school for their treat and on numerous occasions the Lee's are so kind that they "hook up" =p their little customers. One time I saw a mom and her little girl come in for a soda and the little girl was sad asking her mom if she could get an icee and the mom said no because she didn't have enough money with her and I guess Mr and Mrs Lee knew them so Mr Lee have her a cute kid sized icee! The little girl was so happy!! The Good- Always fast and friendly customer service! The Better- They suggested different bubble drink flavors every time I visited, depending on what mood I was in for the day, eventually finding my perfect flavor- Honeydew and Taro mixed bubble drink!! The Best- After tasting every bubble drink that has received good reviews on the Windward side, Koolau Snack shop is #1 for me and almost every person I refer!! read more

This little neighborhood shopping Strip Mall can be decieving, but it actually has quite a few shops that should suit your amenities. The 2 anchors is Times Market, which convenient if you live in the Koolau, Ahuimanu, Kahaauu area and you don't want to drive to Safeway. I do like their local produce,and their wine is Fujioka's. It does lack in the meat and bakery department and specialty items. Entertaiment-We also prefer to see movies at our Consolidated 10 Theaters because it's never crowded. For Beauty-They have a Supercuts for hair, Koolau Nails and Wellness Center that has massages, yoga, Zumba and JuJitsu classes. My dentist Dr. Brown has been there for the last 12 years I've been here, and more. Food- For breakast, they have Time's Restaurant, local food, L & L Drive-in and Pakele's. The Temple Valley Chinese Restaurant & Ninja Sushi for Asian, Subway and McDonald's for a quick fix, Koolau Snack shop for goodies, and the ever so popular Steak & Chicken & Garlic Shrimp plates at Time's every Saurday and Sunday. Even food for your pet's at Eastside Supply Pet food. And if you need a new Driver's liscence or take a test, they have the least crowded DMV on the island! Then the damn chocolate covered gummy bears called out to me! So I gave in, $4.29 for a 4oz bag I think that's kinda high but oh so good. The man working advised they only make acai smoothies not bowls, and that the person who makes them doesn't come in until 12pm. Super sweet owners! Love coming here, especially on hot days. If you're lucky you'll get a Shaveice, recently the "no shave ice" sign has been up. Icee and bubble drinks are also delicious. This is a SUPER impressive candy shop! It's hidden away, literally, tucked in a strip mall off the highway in Oahu, but it's fairly easy to find on foot (not so easy by car). And since the plaza is normally not that busy, you can find parking fairly easy. Mr. and Mrs. Lee who sit behind the counter are really sweet old folks, who are very helpful! I asked where I could find the nearest bathroom and Mrs. Lee gave me specific instructions to go upstairs in the grocery store near by. Inside, it has literally a plethora of snacks and a huge fridge of drinks. There is literally everything you could want in there! Chips, both of local varieties and the conventional mainland ones. Candies in bags, bars, and little containers. Li hing powder and dried plums. Icees. Chocolate. And the drinks fridge had sodas, Starbucks frappes, and a whole bunch of other things you'd need for a road trip. You can even get acai bowls! While I didn't get anything for myself, my husband picked up some super rare white chocolate M&Ms and a frappe to keep him awake after a long drive. Overall, a very cute little store and a great place to pick snacks for a day on the road. read more

They have the best snacks and bubble tea and icee floats (get it w li hing powder and juice, da buggah is ono). I moved to Washington and been homesick so I've ordered online from their shop and they even gave me a few extra bags of snacks! Koolau Center is great. It has changed so much over the years. I think many people would consider this to be near temple valley in Kahaluu, which is on the windward side where i grew up. I like this center because of the excellent shops that are here, they have a times, korean bbq resturaunt called "Bob's Korean BBQ" and even a Hawaiian food resturaunt which used to be "Masa and Joyce" but recently changed to another resturaunt. Another highlight of this town square is the theater. While Koolau Theatre may not always provide the most up-to-date and advanced technology in cinematics today, its is very much a peaceful movie theater with plenty of room and seating. I have never had to show up very early to get a good seat for a show. Along with the various restaurants and theater in the spotlight center of Kahaluu, there is also a times super market, which may supply most of your grocery needs. Although do not come here looking for great deals on poke, because it is quite pricier than other places and previously frozen. The town center itself, is really laid back, and it brings about a feeling as if you're entering the country zones of the island. Surrounded by the beautifu Koolau mountain ranges and temple valley cementery, temple valley may not offer the same variety as ala moana center but is great place to bring the family to relax, watch a movie and grab a bite to eat. My boyfriend was excited to find li hi mui strawbery puffs (his favorite). Sadly, most places don't carry them anymore. This is a great hole-in-the-wall shop to get a shave ice and fulfill your local-snack cravings. On our way back from Kualoa Ranch we were craving shave ice, especially after a accident caused huge traffic and a power outage on our way back. Their shave ice is really sweet! They make sure every piece of ice gets drenched. This is both good and bad. Good: Sweet and no "just-ice" spots Bad: More calories. Regardless, the experience with the guy (Mr.Lee) and the shave ice were good, Highly recommended if you need a quick fix. read more

The shaved ice is super-finely ground, with lots of yummy syrup. You can add azuki, condensed milk, li hing mui or ice cream. The store also has your traditional local snacks like fresh li hing mango, spam musubi, and butter mochi. Going to the movie? Grab a hot dog to go, or a fresh bag of hurricane popcorn made on the spot. Need something extra for dinner? Ko'olau snacks even sells Korean side dishes like kim chee and seaweed. Soft, buttery shave ice with plenty of flavor- now that's what I'm talking about! Park at the grocery store and it is literally in the corner. They have a window to order shave ice at so you don't even have to go inside. They have several topping flavors: your usual condensed milk but also chocolate and caramel. I was tempted to go with something different, but settled on my usual snow cap. Flavors are pretty standard, although there was a sign for ling hing mui flavor, we didn't try it. The shave ice is literally bursting with flavor. They go over it several times so you will never get that rough patch of ice like you might get elsewhere. Portions were a good size, and it was the perfect treat. Not a lot of places to sit, my husband and I ended up walking around the shopping center which was fine for us but might be hard if you have a little one. All in all, I will definitely remember this place when we are on the windward side. read more

Nice little candy store next to Times. It reminds me of a more "glorified gas station" where you get tons of good treats. My sister's kids seem to love the shave ice here. I was craving an acai bowl, but the owner told me, "Sorry, I cannot" several times. I wasn't sure if he meant that he could not make either or if they were just out of the ingredients. My sister had a taro bubble tea and I was tempted to get one too because that's usually what I get, but I just got the avocado. After I paid for it, I wanted to cancel my order when I found out that the bubble drinks are not make with fresh fruit- they use powder! My drink was such a disappointment and waste of $... I just threw it away when I got to my sister's house. So, customer service is ok and there's somewhat of a decent amount of good treats. Don't expect to get fresh bubble drinks... Or even an acai bowl- better to try those elsewhere or make it at home read more
