Their food is very good, but Rain needs to stop pushing efficiency and improve the experience of their diners. Our group of 5 was seated at a 4-top table when the place was only a third full. Obviously, this resulted in a crowded table top. As we left, another group of 5 was seated this way as well, so it looks to be their policy. Maybe necessary at busy times but not in a slack period. The rice had been cook perfectly but sat in the warmer so long it had toasted in the holding bin (see picture). Then it was served. Stir the rice occasionally and replace it when it is stale. My wife uses a cane. The hostess walked us to our table the long way around the restaurant. We left by the short route, which also had a wider walkway. Not sure why they did not consider the ability of the diner to walk before setting off on a tour of the restaurant. read more

We came here to celebrate birthdays and had a great experience. My husband and I both ordered margaritas, which were very tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed the Curry Spring Fried Rice. My friends were put off by the idea of raisins in the rice, but I thought it did well to cut through some of the heat. It wasn't too spicy, just a little touch though. My husband always orders the regular chicken fried rice and he was happy as well. My friends enjoyed their sake, beef & broccoli, and fried rice too. read more

5 stars for the simple fact that they use reusable chopsticks and that the all main courses can be replaced tofu! Our waitress was super nice! She let me actually try the hot Sake before ordering a whole cup of it which was nice because it was gross. The spicy basil noodles were amazing! I got medium spice which was perfect for me. The tofu was cooked perfect and a little on the spongy side. The spring rolls were your average spring rolls. Nothing too special but they only had 2 vegetarian appetizer options. The sushi rolls were very average as well. I would spend my money more on the unique main dishes and get sushi from FUSIAN instead. read more

Drove about 30 minutes from my home to check out an Asian restaurant, which turned out to be closed (was supposed to open at 5, but did not). Fortunately, Rain was on the corner (and easier to find). Decided to give it a try and am glad I did. First, know that in Thailand, the rice noodle dish known as "lad na" is made with about 1" wide noodles and a green leafy vegetable that is similar to broccoli/spinach. It is served with a salty/sweet brown gravy that really brings amazing umami to the dish. In the US, "lad na" noodles are about 1/2 - 1/4" wide and served with broccoli or broccoli rabe and sometimes other veggies. In many "Thai-type" restaurants, the lad na gravy is overly thickened and almost sticky. At Rain, the noodles are just over 1/4" wide and the dish is served with lovely crisp broccoli florets and carrots. The gravy is perfect - salty/sweet, not thickened, and all parts of the ingredients are well covered in its deliciousness. I ordered my lad na with pork and the portion size was enough to take some home for lunch. The meal was accompanied by a nice IPA and freshly made shrimp/pork basil Spring rolls accompanied by a beautiful soy/sweet rice vinegar/ginger sauce. So glad to have made the trek across town to this restaurant for the food. Service was also quick and friendly. Rain missed the fifth star because my high top table was sticky and the restaurant was overly dark - more like a nightclub feel. read more

Upon arrival we were met by the host who told us we would be seated quickly. As soon as he turned around the server walked up and grabbed the menus to take us to our table. The atmosphere is modern and clean with dark woods and water features dropping down the glass throughout. Visually the restaurant is very nice. Once seated we made our drink order and quickly decided on two sushi rolls and our main course of the Spicy Thai Basil. After about 10-15 minutes our sushi and food came out simultaneously. The sushi was so fresh and the noodle dish was piping hot with the perfect amount of spice. Our sushi rolls consisted of the rainbow roll and the deep fried Philly roll. Both were full of flavor but my personal favorite was the rainbow roll dipped in eel sauce. The roll was so fresh and the eel sauce gave it the perfect sweetness to send a flavor explosion. Next our entree was perfect. It was the drunken noodles we wanted and the flavor was the perfect fusion of sweet, savory, and spicy all in one dish. The stir fried noodles gave it a smoky flavor as well which only added to the overall flavor. Truly an amazing first impression of the restaurant. As avid Thai restaurant goers we will definitely be back for the food. As for the service it was good. Nothing over the top but our waitress was very respectable and bubbly with a contagious smile. She was attentive but not too overbearing which was nice. But she could have refilled our waters just once more to really top off the experience. read more

Stopped by for a quick lunch excited too try. I got the Spicy Basil and it was the most disappointing Asian dish I've ever had. It was literally a few pieces of over cooked veggies and a overly salty sauce. I did ask for no rice but they literally gave me almost NO FOOD for $12? Go somewhere else. Maybe if they cared a bit more about what came out of their kitchen they'd be busier. Lots of other Asian options in the same strip. Just literally save your money. read more

Takeout order- The "manager" said, upon us asking why our hot food was made, and the sushi was still not ready a long time after being handed the bag of noodles, that he could have the kitchen heat it back up. Best Thai food in the Chattanooga area, by far. I had the crispy duck and loved every bite. I got it topped with a cashew nut sauce along with a side of fried rice. The beer selection here is solid. I paired my dinner with a couple, locally brewed, peanut butter milk stouts. If you haven't tried one, you gotta! It's got a bold flavor with a silky-smooth finish. Service was awesome. Shoutout to our bartender Jess for taking great care of us. This was hands down my favorite meal of 2019 and we're two months deep so that's saying something. Upon walking in to the establishment I greeted the front counter person who just stares at me blankly. While waiting upfront there was 3 employees at the front counter just socially talking amongst each other and not acknowledging the customers leaving the establishment with a have a nice night or anything. While waiting for an open table my mind is thinking I hope the 3 employees is not going to be our server, "thank goodness none of them was." Our server wasn't wow but wasn't bad. Ordered the duck curry, Thai fried rice, rain's spring roll, and pad Thai, fried ice cream, and mango sticky rice. We had our dishes made in different levels of spices from medium to Thai hot and to be honest it tasted mild hot for us. If you're looking for excellent customer service don't. It has been a long time since I have been as disappointed in a restaurant with reasonably good YELP reviews. My wife and I stopped here for a take-out lunch after a recent trip into town. We ordered Vegetable Summer Rolls, Chicken Currey, and Chicken Teriyaki. The summer rolls were okay, but the sauce was way too sweet. The two chicken dishes were bland and had very few vegetables which are a key part of both dishes. The chicken in the chicken currey looked (and tasted) like it had been pounded flat by a machine rather than by hand. Needless to say, we will not be back. Call back to make them aware and was told (after holding so he could call his manager) that "the best I can do is credit you back or make it another time for you when my other manager is here" Please allow your employees the ability to take care of your guests when your employees do not do what is asked on a ticket. Obnoxious smell of creosote hits you like a brick upon entry. After all these years you'd think it might have died down, but it colors every memory of my every visit here. If you can get past that, the seats in the back are far enough away that you can thankfully escape it. The dark interior is comfortable and the service is decent. The central area is raised and you sit on the floor on cushions at low tables. My knees are too old for that and I sit at the standard tables where this is also a long bar. On this visit we had a mix of Thai and Sushi, with my dish being Pad Thai. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the dish was generous and flavorful. I've never been disappointed in the food and the service has always been decent and on this visit there was no problem getting drink refills. read more

I love coming to Rain. The food is so good & so is the service. If you're never been before there are 3 areas. You can sit in the bar area, the dinning side , or the best is the Rain room. You sit on cushions on the floor and your feet an legs are actually in a small hole under the table. Now in saying that the Rain room is the best, it is not if you can not get up and down easily. Great place to relax and unwind with friends or family. Warm relaxing atmosphere and quick, friendly service made for a perfect evening. We were wanting to just have a few drinks and something light...we should have asked because that Tempura appetizer is a meal unto itself. Huge plate of fried broccoli, sweet potatoes, onion rings and shrimp cooked to perfection. Followed by a MONSTER Chattanooga roll. It is massive! At least a foot long and about 8 inches in diameter. The tempura platter and the Chattanooga roll combination was really way too much for two but we sure enjoyed trying to finish them off! Tempura is light, perfectly crunchy with each item cooked to perfection. The Chattanooga roll was tasty and something I will order again but only if I bring back up!
