    Outdoor dining

My widf and I decided to give this place a try after reading the Yelp reviews. We love seafood and there are no good seafood restaurants in our immediate area in Pa. Interestingly, the restaurant is in the middle of a residential neighborhood. The off street parking lot is small but fortunately there is paid street parking by an app, with no coin acceptance. There are approximately six-eight outdoor tables in the front of the restaurant that seat about four people each. The indoor dining area seats approximately eighty guests. This is by no means a fancy restaurant but it is clean and comfortable Our server Jalin was very sweet and attentive and recommended several dishes. Beer and mixed drinks are also served here. We started with the fried calamari as an appetizer. The calamari had a delicious crunchy coating and was not chewy. For pur main dishes, my wife had the pecan and coconut crusted flounder and I had the seafood jambalaya. Both dishes were excellent with generous portions. Neither of the dishes were overcooked, with the flounder was light and prepared perfectly. Prices were reasonable and worth every penny, especially with how generous the portions were. We will definitely be going back to try other dishes and recommend giving this restaurant a try.

These folks keep doin seafood right! I had the Tortilla Poblano crusted Mahi....delicious with the right amount of kick! The salad greens were bright and full of fresh ingredients and delicious flavor! The red beans and rice come with all the main entrees and they are right on point! Hubs had the grilled scallops--heavenly! Hush puppies and honey butter are always a great addition. Great service! Great portions. Friendly, chill atmosphere. Everything reasonably priced.

It's late Thursday night and I can't sleep. I watch re-runs of Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsey. Mostly mundane and boring, but then someone takes a chance and serves him a plate of english Fish and Chips. I thought for sure he was going to tear them apart, but he unexpectedly loved them them. And that's when it sunk in. I NEED some Fish & Chips as soon as possible (I'm easily influenced). So the next day I looked into who makes the best F&C's in Frederick. The name that came up the most was Ragin' Reef. It's Frederick, so I didn't expect great British Fish & Chips locally. But I was completely proved wrong. The next day we B-Lined it to RR for some F&C with minimal expectations. The restaurant tables were full so we had to sit at the bar, which at first was a bummer, but ended up being a blessing. Noah was our bartender and he was absolutely AMAZING. So nice, knowledgeable , and he guided us through the menu since it was our first time there. Literally, could not have been more friendly and helpful. Fantastic guy! The Salad/vegetables arrived and, although I was skeptical at first, the tangy dressing was a perfect match for the salad. Next came the Entrées. The Fish Tacos were good. I feel like the fish needs much more seasoning and less tomatoes, but overall enjoyable. The star of the show was the Fish & Chips. Absolutely awesome! The fish was crispy, perfectly seasoned. and piping hot. 10/10!! And I lived in London for a while so I know a great F&C when I taste it. Could not have been better. Even the Tartar sauce was amazing (I took extra home). Yes, I wish the chips were bigger like in the UK instead of French fries, but come on - it's all about the fish, really. And they even had Malt Vinegar!! YES!! Definitely check out Ragin' Reef. It's food and service lives up to it's high ratings. Love this place and will definitely be back.

So my wife loved her Scallops. Said they were great. I had the Cream of Crab Soup and the Fish and Chips. I thought the Cream of Crab Soup needed more crab in it, specifically a few pieces of lump crabmeat. In general it was okay, but heavy on the cream and light on the crab. The Fish and Chips were served hot, but they were extremely greasy, and I ate less than half of my serving because of the very greasy texture. I have had much better. So for my wife it was great, but I was pretty disappointed. And I have been throne voting to come here again. Oh well, I guess I will have the Scallops next time. The service was pretty decent.

Upon entering, we were immediately greeted cheerfully. Alex confirmed the size of our party and sat us. This was an early Saturday afternoon. Alex provided great eye contact and made us feel welcome. We ordered non alcoholic drinks, then asked about the fresh oysters, which we ordered. After a few minutes, we were ready to order our entrees. Based on some of our exclusions, Alex asked if we wanted a gluten free entrees. We did for one entrée, so Alex informed us how the crab cake would be different. The half dozen oysters were well presented and very fresh tasting. Both the Crab "no" Cake Salad and the Stuffed Shrimp entrees were also very well presented. Everything was nicely prepared and seasoned, plus fresh tasting. We enjoyed our meal and were very happy with the service Alex provided.

Crabcake, cream of crab soup, wicked pasta & chicken tenders.. FOOD IS FIRE! 12/10

Excellent service! Amazing food! Family owned gem right here! I haven't been here since 2016/17 my first time back in years and the experience was incredible. The crabcake? 12/10 pure jumbo lump melt in your mouth.. the fries they have here are my favorite the perfect shoe string fries. My wife got a wicked chicken pasta and we were blown away at the freshness and overall quality, the chicken tenders were perfect crispy golden perfection, oh let's not forget the cream of crab soup...torch, it was delicious... I wish Montgomery county, Md- had a spot like this! Def will be back very soon !

    Tortilla & poblano crusted flounder
    Melo R.

Wonderful food and service! I haven't had a bad dish there yet. The fried calamari appetizer is wonderful, their raw oysters are always fresh and clean (no sand!), and the drinks are deceptively strong. I had the tortilla and poblano flounder recently and it was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. They have the some of the best crab cakes in MD - big pieces of crab without all the filler. When the stuffed cod is on the menu, it's a must try. I only deducted a star because they forgot to add the vinaigrette that came with the dish, the green beans could have used some seasoning & butter, and the portion of rice and beans could be more. Otherwise, great place with great food.

Best dining out experience we've had in a long time. The restaurant and bar are cute, the food is perfection and the bartender, Noah, was excellent. We liked it so much for dinner that we made a reservation to return the next day for lunch.

    Jambalaya, highly recommend!
    Iris W.

Really nice environment with lovely and special decors. The Jambalaya was really great! Better Cajun flavor than I had in California! Highly recommend! The beerbuttered cod was okay but not very special. Noah has been helping us to enjoy our meals really well ;)

The restaurant is a very casual, laid back dining experience. The food was delicious and savory. We ordered lots of sides, crabs and I had a delicious crab cake. Micky, the waitress, was friendly, attentive and accommodating. She was the best! The busboy kept the table clean and he was energetic and friendly. My friend was pleasantly surprised by the birthday singing and the ice cream sundae she received gratis from the restaurant. I highly recommend this establishment. Was so happy to dine there. It feels more like eating in a cafeteria than a seafood restaurant. If you're just after a straightforward meal and don't care about the vibe, it's fine, but for the price, I always expect a bit more character. You're forced to listen to the people talking next to you, hammers cracking, forks & knives clanking and cars driving by. Priced way too high for what it is. Crabs were decent not completely seasoned well. I'm baised as I'm an Old Bay die hard and would never put Jo's on crabs but that's just me. 3 stars if it were priced more appropriate, 4 if they're playing some music (crab house fun), if you combine atmosphere, priced more appropriate, and switch to Old Bay we're looking at 5 's. Fries, hush puppies, and coleslaw are excellent, did not try the soup. It's worth noting that I'm from Anne Arundel Co. Grew up going to crab houses my whole life in and around Annapolis. Many places mirror that vibe, Liberty Road just can't seem to get that part down or simply care not to, and that's fine. For me though it's an interval part of the crab house experience.

The building is large with plenty of parking. It has a medieval-vibe from the outside, although there's a plaque inside the front door saying the building was built in 2000. Once inside, it's fairly dark and continues with the old-mansion type atmosphere. There are lots of items hanging from the walls, older portrait photos, chandeliers, etc. very cool space. We were told at the front desk to go upstairs for the brunch (there is an elevator!). Once upstairs, we were greeted and sat in a corner table for two. The placement of the table was perfect, as there were a lot of families there for brunch, and I felt like we were being given an opportunity for more quiet. I noticed that the layout of the room placed tables for two and other smaller tables toward the outside. The server greeted us warmly and explained where things were and invited us to get started. The food: outstanding. The crab dip was thick from cheese and full of crab. The Maryland crab soup (didn't try the cream one) was full of crab and veggies, and the broth was flavorful. The salad was fresh, the chicken and salmon were both well prepared and delicious and the crab omelette was full from crab. There's also the traditional breads, eggs, potatoes, bacon and sausage. They all looked good, but I didn't take them seriously with all the other foods there. I went to get prime rib snd was given a huge piece freshly sliced. Outstanding. The outside was seasoned perfectly and the inside was moist and flavorful. You can get creamy horseradish, horseradish alone and au jus, which you serve yourself. The desserts included some pies (including key lime), cooked apples, brownies and there's fresh fruit at the salad bar. Service: Outstanding. Our server kept our water glasses, iced tea snd coffee filled and took our plates promptly. Bloody Mary - was $1 and I think it's a darn good Bloody Mary. Not fancy, but tasty. We came here looking for a new place to go for buffet brunch. We live over a half hour away, but do plan to come back for other occasions. It's a nice atmosphere with a very classy vibe, but good for families. Everybody seemed to be having a good time and enjoying themselves. And the service was excellent. The brunch ain't cheap (it's $46.95 per person), but there's outstanding prime rib, a real crab dip and two types of legit crab soups, along with other entrees (the salmon was so soft and flavorful - I was jealous because I can never get mine with such great texture), as well as traditional breakfast fare and a salad bar. Worth a visit. The restaurant's regular menu looks pricy, and some of the items on the regular menu are available on the buffet (prime rib, crab dip, crab soups, the chicken and the salmon).

But the bad out weights the good. Preceding this was a forgettable salad of iceberg lettuce, carrots, and croutons. The best part of the meal were the rolls and butter and the water. I won't be back.
