Went to the Raceway Diner at 5:30 pm. As soon as we were seated with menus the bus boy came and filled water glasses. Our waitress was Mimi who greeted us with a smile as she asked for a drink order. My nephew asked for Sprite and I had unsweetened Ica Tea.We started off with an order of Calamari as an appetizer. I was in the mood for a complete dinner so I ordered salad with blue cheese dressing, Chicken Francaise with corn and mashed potatoes. My nephew ordered Split pea soup, Veal Marsala with corn and mashed also. The place was clean and quiet . The service was great . The food was very tasty and good portions. My nephew topped off dinner with apple pie ala mode. Well done Raceway Diner. Sal E. New Rochelle.

Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwich

You walk in and there is a very chill vibe. The servers are very attentive and come around to check on you regularly. The food was ok. My potatoes were not seasoned but it's like every diner you go to. I was a bit annoyed that I asked for sausage and got bacon instead but it was ok. My wife's bacon egg and cheese was a bit on the dry side but tasted ok.

After the typical bagel breakfast on day one we wanted a sit down breakfast. We decided to try Raceway because they seemed to have a good variety of options. Compared to most restaurants for a party of 5/8 (3 car seats) they were able to sit immediately. The staff was very helpful and the customer service was great as we got seated. Once seated we did wait a bit before someone came to take our orders. Our waiter wasn't as personable as the other staff but he did try to make sure we got what we needed. The items ordered were Homemade Challah Bread French Toast, Chocolate Chip Pancakes, Turkey Bacon, Pork Sausage, Corned Beef Hash, and Grits. The French Toast was doughy in the center so I wasn't a fan of it. The Hash could've been cooked harder throughout. The pancakes were okay nothing special other than seeing the chocolate chips they tasted like plain pancakes. The pork sausage was a NO for us and so we switched it for more turkey bacon. The ambiance is like a family diner but the food needs some work.

Home fries suck! No seasoning. The whole wheat pancakes also lacked flavor and texture. The omelette was okay and the BLT was decent. Overall not eating here again.

Fantastic diner, clean inside, food is delicious. I've been coming here for three years now. I've never had a bad meal. Oh order the curly fries. You'll thank me later.

Ham, Home Fries, Black and White Blood Puddings, sausage, ham, over easy eggs, and grilled tomatoes

Every time I see "Irish Breakfast" on a Diner menu, I roll my eyes and think "what do they know about that?" Today I accepted the challenge, and I ordered my heritage's one and only signature dish; grilled tomatoes, blood puddings etc. In America, this is one the best incarnations I've ever seen. EVERYTHING on the plate was good, which is a hard feat considering how multidimensional the "Irish Breakfast" is. When I asked the waiter if anyone in the kitchen was Irish, because I really was astonished at how well the dish came out, he replied "Na man, they're all Mexican back there."

The ambience is very pleasant, and the decoration is truly appreciable it creates a welcoming and great atmosphere the moment you walk in. I ordered the pancake special with chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, and sausage, along with eggs, over hard. It came out exactly how I wanted and was cooked perfectly! The food was really good, and my drink was absolutely perfect. On top of the great meal, the service was really nice; the staff were attentive and made the whole experience seamless. I also got a chocolate milk which was a Nesquik bottle which I haven't had in a while, the taste still holds up to when I was a kid! The pancakes were different but good! The sausage and bacon were regular and normal, nothing crazy. The eggs were probably a little overdone for my liking but I think I should've probably just asked for over easy since these yolks were barely runny at all. The sourdough was a great companion to the eggs though! The biggest downside to this place is that it's cash only. Very inconvenient and we didn't know until I showed up, luckily I had some on me and had enough for my friend who was with me. Overall a very laid back, casual, old school vibes. Solid, well balanced, quick breakfast!

However, I'm happy to report that I dined here recently and had a better experience. Since the time of my initial review, La Casa remained in my periphery - mainly because my parents periodically visited and it was a frequent stop of one of my friends who lives in Bronxville. That being said, I was curious to check out La Casa again - and that opportunity came when my mother chose here to celebrate Mother's Day. La Casa is located just off the main commercial strips. The interior is pretty spacious with a bar towards the front of the restaurant and the main dining room split in two sections. The decor is somewhat under-toned with a cool color scheme and tasteful decor. This is in contrast with other Mexican restaurants that tend to go overboard with the kistch and warm colors. I will say the seats look a little tired, they could use some re-upholstering - and were a little lower to the ground than I expected. In addition to the indoor space, they have an outdoor section which was done up very nicely. The brunch menu contained a selection of apps, sides, quesadillas, tacos, and sides. We decided to start by splitting a few apps: brisket and al pastor tacos, a quesadilla, street corn, chips and guac, and more guac with tuna. All the apps were tasty - the biggest standouts for me were the quesadilla and the tacos which were all generously filled and had good flavor. For my main, I got the camarones a la diabla which were shrimp in a red pepper sauce placed atop beans and paired with bok choy. The dish was pretty good - the shrimp could have been a bit snappier, but I appreciate that they de-shelled them and the sauce and beans worked well with them. Dare I say the bok choy was the star of the dish? It had just enough flavor and added a needed green. We opted for dessert, and I got the grilled pineapple which was paired with (per the menu) vanilla ice cream or guanabana sorbet. I wasn't asked to choose, and was served the sorbet. I would have liked to have been given the option, but maybe that's all they had - fwiw the sorbet was good. The pineapple was candied and came as a large, thick ring - definitely needed a knife and fork to cut it up (which they provided); this was a good dish in concept but I think it can be executed better. Service was good, everyone was friendly and efficient. In my experience, service tends to be the weakest component of a meal on a holiday, but they did a great job. Overall, I had a good experience at La Casa. Even though it's not in my backyard, I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself.

It was easy for all of us to walk in and out and the waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable. It was restaurant week which we were in aware of so we were pleasantly surprised as we were able to have a three course meal for not a bad price at all. I had French onion soup to start and I was very happy with my choice as it was very flavorful and had a ton of onions which I love when they leave in all of them when they serve it. My friends had clam chowder and calamari. I had a few calamari and was very happy with how fresh and crispy it was. They gave a nice portion on all three. As for my main course I had a a very nice size steak sandwich that were absolutely delicious. It came with hand cut French fries. I couldn't believe how good it was. I'm usually extremely picky and the steak was so tender and it melted it my mouth. The fries were killer good as well. For desert, I had bread pudding and that was wonderful as well. It came in a cream sauce and I was very happy with what I picked. All in all, I loved my meal and the time spent with my friends that I hadn't seen in almost a year. We had laughs and a very nice conversation and they did not rush us at all. I will definitely be back for some amazing food and a wonderful atmosphere to soak it up with.

The complete lack of legroom makes it impossible to eat or drink comfortably. Also, depending on who is preparing them, the mixed drinks are always inconsistent. Always curious about bakeries I haven't tried before, I was excited to check it out. Chantilly has odd hours; they're only open three days per week until 1pm and the good bakes tend to run out fast. They have a good selection of bakes, but we opted for their cookies - specifically the chocolate chip and the Nutella. The cookies were those big, cakey style ones that could easily be shared. The cookies were okay; I was struggling to find flavor in the chocolate chip. While it was the cakey style, it almost had a hard crust on top of it - it looked more like a muffin top than a cookie. There were lots of chocolate chips inside, but for some reason the flavor just wasn't hitting it for me. The Nutella cookie was slightly better, but I'm wondering if the Nutella was in the room with us because I couldn't find it. There was chocolate, and whole hazelnuts, but the filling inside didn't taste like Nutella to me. It was more so like a semisweet chocolate frosting. The flavor profile wasn't bad, and it was a decent chocolate cookie - it just didn't read Nutella to me. Overall, Chantilly was fine. I would be open to returning to explore more of their bakes, but think twice before getting more cookies.
