I have always enjoyed breakfast here. It has a good small town feeling where everyone knows everyone. Or they are a regular. The food is always delicious and service is excellent. Thank you for yet another great breakfast.

I'm from Los Angeles..this little spot is a gem for breakfast...I had the hungry man on a roll, scrambled, with cheese. Little neighborhood type place where everyone knows each other. Buy lottery tix while you eat and your in business...great attitude,...good people...keep it up,..I'll definitely return during my visits.

The ambience is very pleasant, and the decoration is truly appreciable it creates a welcoming and great atmosphere the moment you walk in. I ordered the pancake special with chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, and sausage, along with eggs, over hard. It came out exactly how I wanted and was cooked perfectly! The food was really good, and my drink was absolutely perfect. On top of the great meal, the service was really nice; the staff were attentive and made the whole experience seamless. I highly recommend stopping by if you're looking for a quality meal and a friendly vibe!

Our server gave us a list of specials for breakfast and lunch and also recommended a couple of dishes they could do, the birds nest being on of them. We both chose the birds nest, and I got a couple of modifications. It normally comes with over easy eggs, bacon and bread of choice, but I got scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, and some corn tortillas to keep it gluten-free. It was phenomenal! Hot and fresh, right off the grill. Gonna have to come back for this one more time before we go back to Florida. We took a walk for about 20 min along the Bronx River Pathway after because it was filling. Might be a cereal for dinner kind of night!

Server came to take food out order and we asked about our drinks; be here in two minutes. Our food order was in front of us before our drinks ever arrived. Lesson learned, don't let them pressure you into ordering food until drinks in hand or they add bar staff. Burgers were awesome as always, as are the fries. Another pet peeve: one diner is finished with their meal and they come to clear dishes while the other person is still eating. This was not necessary; there was no wait and the place was at least half empty. Haven't experienced this at Tavery before and hope this was a one time off afternoon. Your service experience shouldn't overshadow an otherwise good experience.

I thought the mahi mahi tacos were good and the reaction to other dishes ranged from good to ok. Calimari was just ok- not crispy. Service was fine. Pricing was fair and even a bargain, $13, for a good glass of Pinot. We skipped dessert. The hostess was sweet. Hard to say if it would be an addition to our dining rotation but for Bronxville it just might check enough boxes for success. We will see.

However, I'm happy to report that I dined here recently and had a better experience. Since the time of my initial review, La Casa remained in my periphery - mainly because my parents periodically visited and it was a frequent stop of one of my friends who lives in Bronxville. That being said, I was curious to check out La Casa again - and that opportunity came when my mother chose here to celebrate Mother's Day. La Casa is located just off the main commercial strips. The interior is pretty spacious with a bar towards the front of the restaurant and the main dining room split in two sections. The decor is somewhat under-toned with a cool color scheme and tasteful decor. This is in contrast with other Mexican restaurants that tend to go overboard with the kistch and warm colors. I will say the seats look a little tired, they could use some re-upholstering - and were a little lower to the ground than I expected. In addition to the indoor space, they have an outdoor section which was done up very nicely. The brunch menu contained a selection of apps, sides, quesadillas, tacos, and sides. We decided to start by splitting a few apps: brisket and al pastor tacos, a quesadilla, street corn, chips and guac, and more guac with tuna. All the apps were tasty - the biggest standouts for me were the quesadilla and the tacos which were all generously filled and had good flavor. For my main, I got the camarones a la diabla which were shrimp in a red pepper sauce placed atop beans and paired with bok choy. The dish was pretty good - the shrimp could have been a bit snappier, but I appreciate that they de-shelled them and the sauce and beans worked well with them. Dare I say the bok choy was the star of the dish? It had just enough flavor and added a needed green. We opted for dessert, and I got the grilled pineapple which was paired with (per the menu) vanilla ice cream or guanabana sorbet. I wasn't asked to choose, and was served the sorbet. I would have liked to have been given the option, but maybe that's all they had - fwiw the sorbet was good. The pineapple was candied and came as a large, thick ring - definitely needed a knife and fork to cut it up (which they provided); this was a good dish in concept but I think it can be executed better. Service was good, everyone was friendly and efficient. In my experience, service tends to be the weakest component of a meal on a holiday, but they did a great job. Overall, I had a good experience at La Casa. Even though it's not in my backyard, I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself.

It was easy for all of us to walk in and out and the waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable. It was restaurant week which we were in aware of so we were pleasantly surprised as we were able to have a three course meal for not a bad price at all. I had French onion soup to start and I was very happy with my choice as it was very flavorful and had a ton of onions which I love when they leave in all of them when they serve it. My friends had clam chowder and calamari. I had a few calamari and was very happy with how fresh and crispy it was. They gave a nice portion on all three. As for my main course I had a a very nice size steak sandwich that were absolutely delicious. It came with hand cut French fries. I couldn't believe how good it was. I'm usually extremely picky and the steak was so tender and it melted it my mouth. The fries were killer good as well. For desert, I had bread pudding and that was wonderful as well. It came in a cream sauce and I was very happy with what I picked. All in all, I loved my meal and the time spent with my friends that I hadn't seen in almost a year. We had laughs and a very nice conversation and they did not rush us at all. I will definitely be back for some amazing food and a wonderful atmosphere to soak it up with.
