I was in the area for an event and had some time to kill, so I found this coffee shop to grab a drink and read some of my book. I was greeted when I approached the counter to order my $7.25 oat milk latte (before tip). They didn't take my name, which is my biggest coffee shop pet peeve, but luckily it wasn't busy so I was able to hear when they called out my drink. The latte was good and I could tell the espresso was high quality. Unfortunately I couldn't get the wifi to connect, so it's a good thing I had my book with me. The table I chose (high top with metal chair) was not super comfortable and part of the table was broken, so it was a little precarious. The bathroom was clean. It's a cool concept, as they also have a bar serving beer and wine, and it looks like a nice community space with events. And it's dog-friendly. Thanks to Yelp, I'm able to find high end coffee shops wherever I go. Climbing Wolf is another absolute win. Very cool vibe, pleasant greeting from the gentleman behind the counter upon arrival. They rotate beans from high end roasters, today they had coffee from Touchy Roasters in Troy, NY. My wife enjoyed a cold brew with oat milk and I enjoyed an Americano. The Americano was served in a nice heavy mug, so it stayed hot. The flavors were complex. I've been out of my craft beer phase for a while but if I wasn't, this place would be dangerous! Chris is a fabulous conversationalist and knows how to pour a good beer. This place gives off very close knit vibes where someone is always telling a crazy story. Two of us visited midday on a Saturday, and unfortunately, both of our original orders/requests were unavailable: no caramel syrup for a caramel latte, and out of ingredients for one of their featured drink (I think it was something with lavender?). I found myself at Climbing Wolf after having dinner in the area - we were looking for a place to unwind and since someone in my party had been here before, we decided to check it out. I'm all for trying new places, so off we went. Located on one of the main commercial strips in Dobbs Ferry, Climbing Wolf specializes in beer and coffee. Walking in, we were greeted by a decently sized area with a variety of seating options: bar seating as well as some tables, chairs, and couches where you can sit and enjoy. The aesthetics were somewhat minimal and contemporary - lots of neutral colors; the vibe gave off brewery but with a cozier aesthetic. I'm admittedly not the biggest beer drinker, but after browsing the menu I could tell they had a good selection. Since I had a drink at dinner I decided to bypass and go for one of their soft options. The coffee bar was actually closed for the night when we arrived, but they were serving tea so I went with that. Again, they had a good selection; I decided to go with a cherry lemon option which was quite good. The flavor wasn't too strong but the notes were there which translated to a great sipping experience. Service was great, everyone was really friendly. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Climbing Wolf. I would definitely return for more of their tea as well as try their coffee. And hey - maybe a beer ;-) read more

Where's the button for 10 stars?? To say this is a special place would be a understatement. Let's start with the basics -- their coffee and beer are both great. Delicious coffee / cafe program, which is only to be surpassed by the amazing beer program. The space itself is a welcoming, warm and a perfect refuge to hang, work, play, socialize or a little bit of all. But none of that is what makes this place so special. The magic of this place is the human connection that happens inside. Sure, probably not what you expect to read about in a Yelp review, but the reality is these kinds of environments that foster human interaction are harder and harder to come by. Just a handful of miles away in NYC, the concept of walking into a place like this and openly connecting with new people would be an absurd concept. But it's this concept that is lived and breathed by Chris and his brother, the wonderful humans behind this place. Chris is a rare find in the year 2024. He literally knows the name of every patron that walks through the door. He takes the time to greet each and every one as they walk through the door, not missing a single one, and immediately making you feel welcome when you enter. He doesn't do this because he has to, he does it because he genuinely wants to. Really quickly, the line between patrons and friends becomes blurred. What's more -- Chris doesn't just get to know the people who enter -- he goes out of his way to introduce you to everybody. In the 2 weekends we went, we met 6-8 new people, many of whom we exchanged info with and plan to see again. These all started with Chris and his subtle way of facilitating human connection. I can't overstate how rare this is to find these days and how much the world needs more people like Chris who are creating more connection in a world full of divide. The culture Chris embodies trickles throughout his whole team. It's contagious. They're all genuinely enjoying being there. How rare is this to find? It feels like you're in the living room of a family that's just really enjoying what they're doing. It makes you want to stay for hours -- which is exactly what we end up doing each time we go. What a great, chill spot. They excel in coffee, sweets, and beer. What's not to love? Lots of different types of seating depending on your plans for your visit. Good luck picking something to eat, because it all looks delicious. My family and I snagged a few pastries and truly couldn't decide our favorite. Such an adorable place. We stopped here to get coffee and fell in love with it; the ambience, the cute interiors, the coffee and the staff. Two really friendly men at the coffee shop that helped us place the order and even customized coffee on request by my friend. This was literally a 7-10 mins take-out interaction but it's a skill to make customer feel special in that limited a time. Not only is their customer service great, their coffee tastes amazing too. I don't know much about beer, but I do know about getting tipsy. Would 100% recommend. If you're nice(-ish) enough, they might even let you write on one of the boards for the tap beers. In addition to the 12 beers on tap, they have a fully stocked fridge with all kinds of beers--whether you want to enjoy one there or take a few to go. No matter what you like, there's something for everyone. 3. The People- JB and Chris, the owners, are absolutely wonderful. You can always pick their brains about all things beer, coffee, food, and most things life. Bartenders and baristas Kaitlyn, Justin, Angel, and Tabitha are as lovely. They're friendly, fun, and make this place feel so warm and welcoming. 4. Dogs - This is a pet-friendly place. There's always at least a dog wagging their tail, wanting to be petted. Bring Your Own Food - While the place doesn't have a kitchen, you're totally welcome to bring in your own food or grab something from any of the nearby spots. This is their modest way of not just making the place more welcoming but also supporting other businesses in the area. There's no way in hell you could resist going and buying something for yourself once a patron opens their box of tacos from Los Ferchos. 9. The Community - If you live in the neighborhood, this is a place you must visit. It pulls you in like a black hole, helping you find your tribe--no matter how lost you feel in the abyss of life. (Sorry for the metaphor, I'm a little tipsy thanks to Hardywood's Christmas Morning beer here at Climbing Wolf. It's amazing!). I moved to the neighborhood nearly six months ago and started coming here to work while I took my time setting up my place. I was looking for a coffee shop to call home for quite some time now. Somewhere I can work, but also just kick back and unwind my brain. Climbing Wolf is that and more. Their coffee is incredible. The staff are very passionate about their coffee and beer. They pour their heart into Climbing Wolf and it shows, bringing in the masses. Climbing Wolf is truly a warm hug. You get a familial feel here. You'll see families, young and old, and if you're one of the lucky ones, you'll get to pet a precious dog every now and then. The people who work here are some of the kindest people I've ever met. They are super personable and make each visit memorable. They're most definitely a huge reason I keep coming back. A couple of years ago I relocated from Chicago and have been looking for a place like Climbing Wolf. It not only has a great selection of beers from all over the country and coffee drinks, it's also a welcoming and cozy space. Coming from the midwest, I've missed an atmosphere where I can meet interesting people, like owners JB and Chris, or just sit and enjoy whatever beverage they suggest. These two are the nicest of guys that go the extra mile to create a welcoming ambiance with some of the best selections of beers and coffee drinks in Westchester county. The inside and outdoor seating provide something for everyone. It's a great place to hangout and catch up with friends.
