I had some repairs needed on short notice after a storm. I was lucky enough to get to work with Miles, who was fantastic. Very nice fella, glad to have been able to do business with him. read more

I trusted the reviews and they were right. Miles is very professional and responsive; their estimate was very competitive and provided extra suggestions and services well beyond my expectations. Salvador was on the roof all day without fuss or much noise and did a great job. They came the day after to clean up and left everything in order. Really what you want to see from a vendor. I would certainly recommend them. read more

This company is a joke! The president came to measure for an estimate on Tuesday. I didn't receive their quote by Friday, so I called their showroom on Saturday during their business hour and left a message that I need their quote ASAP since I have all other estimates in hand. He called back on Monday and said it's not ready because he was so busy previous week. He insisted that he wants to sit down and explain to me about their quote next day. I told him that he can give me the price over the phone so I can compare with others. He said "If you compare just the price, I know our price is higher than others. So I'm not going to WASTE my time to work on a quote. Good luck with whoever you're going to choose". They spend lots of money printing fancy brochures and try to convince you that they are better than others and why they are more (a few thousands?) expensive than others. If they don't want to give me an quote, why they showed up at my place first to WASTE my time? I didn't go with the lowest quote anyway. Also I contacted them early October, but they can only do my roof in next January! My roof was done before Halloween with other company. R E Roofing is very, very unprofessional. read more

We first went to the RE showroom where we met with Paul who walked us through roofing materials and gutter options. We then had several companies bid on the job. Miles took the time to explain the options available to us and when he presented the quotation it was very thorough. The roof removal crew arrived on time and did their work very quickly. The crew was polite and they left the site spotless. The roofing crew arrived the same day and started the preparations for the sheathing that was also installed very quickly. Prior to the shingles arriving the gutter installers put up the pre-painted gutters. They where hung very straight and the end seams looked good. The GAF ultra shingles arrived and the crew went to work. I had some special requests and they took care of them. The whole job took four and a half days and turned out great. We found Paul, Miles and Jodie very flexible and pleasant to work with. We highly recommend RE roofing. read more

My house suffered a devestating fire, and there is much repair needed to be done, Miles came out and reviewed what was needed was very thorough and complete. My experience with R.E. Roofing was surprisingly easy, thorough, and the representative (Miles) was remarkably effeciant, knowledgeable and trustworthy. His communication skills were clear, explainitory, to the point and professional. Even before the meeting, Miles kept communications open via text and telephone. You know you can count on it, if he said he was going to call, etc. I highly recommend this roofing business I am sure they will get the job done rightly and completely. read more

I needed emergency roofing repair so I requested a quote through Yelp. Miles responded immediately and while he didn't have availability to help me, he gave me referrals for 24 hour services in the area. He was incredibly helpful when he didn't need to be. If I ever need services again I would definitely go here first. read more

From first contact to the completion of the project RE Roofing, specifically Miles was a pleasure to deal with. The entire process was handled professionally and efficiently. A complete cleanup of the front and back yard, including the neighbors was done, leaving our property looking as though no construction crew had ever been been working. The end result was a roofing job that we are very happy with. Highly recommend RE Roofing. read more

RE Roofing just completed my roof installation and it went very well. The team is very professional, conscientious of the mess and friendly. It is a family business so they keep the customer in mind throughout the whole process. The result is one great quality job. Excellent describes the experience. I would highly recommend RE Roofing to anyone, who wants the job done right. read more

Please be sure to read the postscript: The devil is in the details. But you know that. Our experience with RE Roofing started excellently--great representation, astute bidding (including satellite roof measurement), wide choice of materials, Though not the lowest bidder, we picked them as being the best qualified. The roofing job itself was executed well and promptly (Spring 2015). We are very satisfied with the roofing work itself. But . . . things happened. It gives me no pleasure to recount them. Their truck damaged plantings when backing up into our driveway (six feet wider than the truck) and left large, ugly 'rubber' marks. It's a straight driveway, at 90 degrees to the street, and easy to back into. I trimmed the plantings; they cleaned up the rubber. The work required a form from the City of Mountain View, which I had to provide. I went to the City and got it, and made a dozen extra copies for RE. No problem, really. But you would have thought that a company doing business here would have the requisite forms, no? The roof required additional plywood sub-sheathing to meet code, except in an area where we had an addition several years ago that had been sheathed to current code, but the bill did not reflect the fact that some of that extra sheathing was not needed. I called them on it and they corrected the bill. Details, details. They installed guttering differently from the original configuration, such that a lot of water was bottled up and directed into an area near the house foundations. This worried me, so I called and asked whether the 'end cap' bottleneck could be removed, and offered to pay (you, the reader, may decide whether they or I should have been responsible). I stressed that this early in the rainy season (late Oct/early Nov) it was not high priority, and was told that there would be a minimum $250 charge to fix the problem. Four weeks passed, without a call back, so I asked my next-door neighbor, an old friend, for help. He brought over a 'cast' saw (reciprocating blade, used on body casts, that cuts without harming the cast wearer). It took us about ten minutes, and neither of us is a professional in this area of work. So, on balance, RE Roofing executes roofing well but . . . the devil is in the details. Yes, it is raining as I write (mid December 2015). PS Miles from RE Roofing read this review (originally three stars), brought over two magnificent flower pots (embarrassing me rather deeply), and committed to having his gutter subcontractor finish the gutter problem professionally (my neighbor and I did not do a particularly brilliant job, though we did make it fully functional). This sort of followup is rare and deeply appreciated, and makes clear that RE cares for its customers and knows that followup is vital (those darned details . . .). Highly recommended. read more

We needed a really fast quote on a new roof for a property. After a call to RE Roofing, Miles was kind enough to go to the home the same day and we had a quote in our email the following morning. Fast, professional and courteous! Thanks Miles. read more

They have been unbelievable.... around 10 years ago they re-roofed my home in LG... it took two days. They were super professional... from the crew tearing off my roof all the way until the end clean up. I never found a single nail or scrap on the ground around my house... it was completely different from our prior re- roof experience. Since then they have helped my family... my brother with a leak, another family member with a patch/flashing after an electrical panel upgrade. Now this week... they solved another contractor's mistakes with my parent's new home construction. The attic was too hot... and it turned out some of the vents had been installed incorrectly or were covered up... they spent half a day and completely solved the problem, after we'd called several other companies and they'd failed to even identify let alone correct the issue. Jodie and Paul the owners are very service orientated and great to work with...highly recommend them. read more

Miles from R E Roofing came by my place to quote me for some roof repair and gutters. After looking around my home he concluded that my roof was looking fine and didn't need work except a few patches here and there. He kindly jumped up on my roof for some patch work and asked only for a fist bump as payment. Great guy, knowledgable and concise. I would 100% hire them if I need any work done in the future. read more

Quick follow-up to my prior post. Miles and the team completed our roof and it looks beautiful and we've have no issues. Thanks, guys!

We had a leak in the roof that we noticed during a storm. After leaving a request for a quote through Yelp, Miles responded quickly and said he could come fix it the next day! After that, there was a little miscommunication on confirming times for arrival, but he did come the next day and he was very thorough and very pleasant. He took pictures of what he saw. Not only did he fix the leak but he also secured our sky light. We didn't even know it hadn't been secured by the prior owner. And he invoiced a fair amount. He will be my first call when we need a roofer again, though hopefully that won't be for a while. read more

RE Roofing installed the roof of my Los Gatos home about 18 years ago. When I contacted them recently about a leak, Miles responded right away. He assessed the problem on the first trip and fixed it on a second trip, all within 24 hours, and free of charge. I would definitely recommend RE Roofing for their excellent customer support, even after all these years. read more

On a pouring, rainy day mixed with heavy wind, I walked into my home office and noticed a leak coming from one area of the ceiling. I called RE Roofing and they arrived within 20 minutes after I called and they repaired the area on the roof that was causing the leak. I highly recommend RE Roofing, they are a company that is very customer service oriented, responsive, explains what caused the problem and work entailed to fix, and takes pride in their work. read more

RE Roofing replaced our roof about ten years ago. We have had no problems with it until a contractor took out a freestanding fireplace and did not properly patch the roof. The first rain brought on a leak in that area. Miles came out the same day we called and patched the area even though the roof was out of warranty. He was very responsive and understanding and also explained the problem very clearly. We were very happy with RE Roofing when they originally applied the roof and very appreciative of their response to our problem. read more

Great communication. Miles quoted the job and followed up and executed as he said his crew would. Very happy.

Great service, I have R E roofing and construction do any and all work I need done. Quality work at a fair price. Willing to teach you about your roof rather then salesman! A great value as a customer. Thank you Miles! read more

Thank you too Miles. I will do better too. I just came to give you an A+ for handling it so perfectly. Your dedication impressed me.

Had a leak in my roof during a storm and Miles quickly responded to my call with an email and then a phone call. His employees were there on time, and followed through with his service. I'd highly recommend him and by his Yelp reviews, you can see that his work is excellent. Thanks Miles for making this problem go away fast! read more

We went with R E Roofing for our home re-roofing project. After 20 years, our 4,000 sq ft wood shingle roof started to have leaks and we wanted to replace it with Spanish tiles. We interviewed and collected bids from half a dozen roofing companies and decided to go with R E Roofing. From the beginning consultation, material selection, vents placement ... to the actual installation of rain gutters, roof tiles, skylights, flashings, finishing, inspection and follow through, it all went very smooth. They are not the lowest bidder but we are very happy we selected them. They clearly are the most knowledgeable and gave us lots of information when asked (couldn't help being an engineer myself). They educated me enough to spec the right roof and ask for missing items from other roofing contractors. The actual installation went a few days beyond their typical one week process. All the workers are clearly very experienced master craftsmen and did an exceptional high quality job all the way to the final clean up. Project this size will have a few unexpected things come up. They all got handled extremely well without additional cost or hassle. Same with some minor follow up items. We felt the R E Roofing team (yes, we can see they worked well as a team) is very professional and proud of their products and services. They definitely surpassed our expectations and we are very glad to recommend them for your roofing projects. read more

I recommend RE Roofing without reservation. Miles' estimate wasn't the cheapest, but also not the most expensive, and his was the most detailed & reflected the most thought about issues like ventilation, downspout relocation, etc. Miles was accessible & responsive throughout the entire process. And the work was executed with the same attention to detail/quality as the estimate. I especially appreciated the ad hoc relocation of two vents for bathroom fans that, after tear-off, I realized had been routed during renovation a long way through the attic to reach an old, existing vent. My only complaint is that, afterwards, I found more small, sharp metal (nails/staples/screws, gutter trimmings, intake vent trimmings) than I hoped I'd find (esp. having small kids). Overall, though, very pleased with the work. read more

RE Roofing was competitive in price but not the lowest. I chose the company because Paul impressed me that he really understood roofing, particularly the critical ventilation issues and flashing at complex points on the roof. Also the fact that the company is family-owned and it keeps its employees working all year long suggested that the work would be professional. And it was. In fact, they went the extra mile to ensure that everything was done as well as possible and there would be no issues 10 or 15 years from now. The job site was kept clean and small issues like running the TV cable in through the flashing were handled. They even came back to remove an extra vent placed there because the installers did not know it was no longer used. They also did their own solar tube installation rather than contracting it out. I couldn't be more pleased with the job. read more

Miles really helped me out and set my mind at ease. During the storms over Christmas, we found damage on the roof and didn't want to end up with a major problem. Miles came out quickly, assessed that it wasn't in need of repair and gave us info on how to patch it. He could have charged us a bundle, but didn't. I am definitely coming back to R.E. for my next roof job! read more

I have a 36-Unit apartment building in San Jose. I needed a new roof and also knew there was some dry-rot and other repairs needed while the roof was to be done. The roofing job was about 20,000 square feet, so I knew I was in for a big expense. My concern was to find a company that had an excellent reputation and was capable of doing a large job. R E Roofing was one of 5 bidders I solicited. Although they were not the least expensive, I ultimately decided to use them because Miles Proctor was extremely knowledgeable and easy to work with. This despite the fact that we changed the job requirements several times before work began. Miles responds promptly to phone calls... not immediately but always within 24 hours and often within 3. This helped me to fine-tune our job specs and, ultimately, design a superb solution to our roofing needs. I also looked at the references of the other companies that bid my job. Taking the time to actually read the reviews on YELP helped me to quickly determine which companies had happy customers and which didn't. I put a lot of weight on this. So now, the job I hired R E Roofing to do is done. It is a fantastic roof that also has excellent insulation and drainage. I needed R E Roofing to work cooperatively and constructively with my solar water and solar PV contractors and Miles, once again, proved to be an outstanding team player. He worked hand-in-glove with my other contractors and this made the whole job run extremely smoothly. Also, the R E Roofing crew was very considerate of my tenants and cleaned up every day. They took reasonable precautions to keep a safe work environment and there were no injuries to anyone on the job. One big thing which speaks volumes: All that extra dry rot repair was an "open ended" item in the contract. That is, they charge as much as needed to correct it. When the final bill arrived, they had NOT taken advantage of this and had charged me totally reasonable amounts for the additional work they had to do. This is what I call real integrity. I highly recommend R E roofing because they get the job done right and they don't rip you off. Also, they can help you define your requirements and develop an effective roofing solution. They listen to what you need and tailor their roofing products to your specific needs. Miles was particularly patient with me as I went through this process. It took me about 4 months to figure out exactly what I wanted but Miles never lost patience with me. He treats people with respect and deserves the excellent reviews he and his crew get here on Yelp. I couldn't be happier with my new roof. It looks fantastic, provides excellent insulation and, of course, keeps the rain out. I'm guessing I wont need another roof for about 40 years, but if I do, I'll be sure to give R E Roofing a call. read more

R E Roofing just finished re-roofing our home in San Jose. Professional, quick and clean. Easy to work with both in quoting and scheduling the actual roofing work. Would certainly recommend to a friend or family member. Very Happy with R E Roofing. read more

I have been on the other side of issuing building permits for many years. This time I am a customer and having a hard time with the City of San Jose Building Department (except for Derek). We were delayed two or three times and each time Jodie was awesome at adjusting the start of the new roof. The roofers came on Thursday morning to tear off the existing roof and came back in the afternoon to start sheathing, putting in new skylights and re-roofing. The new gutters were installed that same day. The following day the roof, skylights and vents were done and the roof looks great. Jodie came a few days later to check on the roof and pick up the roofing advertising sign. I gladly paid for the job and offered to keep the sign in front of the house as long as possible. The roof is beautiful and I would highly recommend R E Roofing to anyone. FYI - My building inspectors recommended R E Roofing too. R E Roofing was very professional from Miles (the estimate) to Jodie (the final). Since it's a family business, I know the job was done right. Thank you. read more

RE Roofing does high quality work at a reasonable price. They are professional, dependable, highly skilled and very honest. This is a family business with excellent employees and superb results. They did a fantastic job on replacing my roof, with a functional and beautiful end result. Never had any issues and they had great follow up to make sure we were happy with the work. read more

Re Roofing and owner Paul Proctor is an example of exemplary service! It has been 3 years. The roof has been great. Several inches of foam insulation plus the white reflective coating are definitely worth it! It definitely makes it feel cooler in the house and the furnace works a lot less. Also several months after the roof was installed, we had solar panels installed by another company. R E Roofing came back to install flashing and collars, and sealed around penetrations. This was done quickly and expertly. read more

If you need a new roof, you really need to call Paul at R.E. Roofing. He was thorough, honest and punctual and his price was somewhat less expensive than other bids we got, and he even insulated our entire attic. Highly recommend RE Roofing. Replaced our roof. Professional, impeccable work, reliable and courteous. Stress free.

I love R E Roofing. Here is why. When another contractor replaced our home wood shake roof with an asphalt shingle roof several years ago, we had a very nasty surprise. We had an indoor heat gain of 10 to 20 degrees. Summers were unbearably hot, and we finally had to install an air conditioning unit that we now have to use all summer long every year. When it came time to replace the wood shake roof on our rental triplex, we did not want to have to also install 3 air conditioning units because it would be very expensive. We interviewed all Diamond Certified roofing contractors and several other well known roofing contractors. The ONLY contractor that listened to our concerns about increasing the inside temperature when changing from wood to asphalt shingle was Miles from R E Roofing. Miles designed a very high quality roof by removing the "skip sheating" and adding high quality CDX with thermal barrier, special intake baffles, and numerous O'Hagan vents for excellent ventilation of the attic. He also took our current attic insulation up to R-40. Miles also designed a very special water proofing protection system at a complicated "hog valley" where we had gotten water leaks in the past. We liked Miles' design so we contracted with R E Roofing to replace the roof on our triplex. R E Roofing installed the roof on our triplex on time and exactly as contracted. They even replaced a section of roof gutter at no cost to us because it was slightly dented during the roofing process. We were very happy with the professionalism of the job. But we were happiest when it was over 100 degrees outside and the inside felt like it was air conditioned! We measured over a 20 degree reduction in inside temperature from the outside temperature simply due to the roof design. This winter during the winter rains, we are just as happy because that difficult "hog valley" is water tight and we have no leaks at all. R E Roofing was not the lowest bid, but they were certainly the best value. If we had to install 3 air conditioning units in our triplex, it would have been very expensive. Now, thanks to Miles at R E Roofing, we do not have to install air conditioning and we are also water tight during winter rains. read more

Back in late 2011, I needed a roof. I researched the BBB, Diamond Cert., Angie's list and YELP. I came up with RE Roofing not because of the glowing reviews, but because of the negative because A-that told me they were real and B-I could tell that the negative reviews were from petty and annoying people that haunt any contractor! I was shocked when Miles came by to give me a bid! He looked like a kid. He told me he was 26, but I don't know. Nevertheless, he was knowledgeable, polite, funny, and helpful. There was additional carpentry to be done and he was real clear that he couldn't be real clear with the price, but I understood that. I asked him if his workers are documented and he responded by saying "You be nice to our guys. They are what makes it work". I admired the fact that he put me in my place instead of giving me a stupid answer to a stupid question. He won me over right there. I signed, and the roof went on without a hitch ( they forgot to leave a ladder for the inspector. Big deal). I was happy with the price, happy with the workers and the work and happy I used them. Nice family too, I met most of them over the course of the job. read more

I needed someone to assess my roof as I know it will need to be replaced in the next few years and yet want to wait until I can remodel my home. Miles came out and examined the roof personally. Then he spent time with me explaining my options. He explained the history of my roof and what might happen in the next few years. I felt no pressure to replace my roof and instead now understand what I need to look for, how to handle a potential leak if it occurs before I remodel, etc. Miles is conscientious, reliable, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. I wholeheartedly recommend R. E. Roofing! read more

The roof repair service also is expected to return in the summer to do maintenance to the roof.
