When I was a small kid, I would walk to the local donut shop with my sister. We would get donuts and bring them home. As I walked into this shop, the aroma transported me all the way back to the east coast and decades. There were two people working and they were kind, friendly and fast! A few tables to have coffee and donuts. Drip coffee. Hot cocoa and ... fresh baked donuts. I ordered a cinnamon roll, a chocolate frosted and a coconut frosted, cost was about $5. Which was reasonable. I brought them home. And here is the real test. I had the cake donuts.... 10hrs after I got it. And it was soft, fresh and totally yummy!!! I'd totally recommend this spot to a friend. A great family spot, locally owned legendary place. That is amazing time and again!!! read more

They were out of what I wanted but replaced the ones ordered with what they had on hand. They were all stale and not editable. They called to say they were out and they would replace almost all my donuts then I tried to call back and they wouldn't answer their phones or respond to my message to CANCEL the donuts! This is a very sneaky place to buy donuts! I will NEVER buy from them again! read more

Saw this donut shop in the same plaza as Burma Place, my lunch destination, so decided to get dessert there. They have a large variety of classic as well as more artfully decorated donuts here. The lady behind the counter was friendly, and helped me decide on cronut instead of mini blueberry fritter. I also got a strawberry glazed French crueller. Both donuts were good. The strawberry crueller was light and eggy with a not too artificial tasting glaze. The cronut had plenty of layers and was also flavorful, with light vanilla and cinnamon notes. It was just a tad too oily for my preference. Overall would return if in the area to try more flavors. read more

Came here looking for somewhere with a blueberry fritter. One of few places I was able to find. I've been on a blueberry fritter frenzy since trying it for first time in Portland. Not as good as Portland. You don't taste the blueberry much in this one. It kinda taste faintly artificial. I probably wouldn't come back for the blueberry fritter. On to the next spot. Service was good, they take card without a fee. read more

We love stopping here for a delicious, fresh donut! Nice choices and friendly service too.

We came late on Sunday morning around 11:30 and thought they maybe out of options but we were pleasantly surprised. When we entered the shop , you immediately smell the fresh donuts. The lady immediately stood up and was ready to take our order. There was a good amount of options, we chose a dozen donut holes, 3 maples, sugar twist, and sprinkle donuts. The donuts holes were soft and melted in my mouth. read more

Hit the spot to satisfy my donut cravings! They have a great selection of donuts and everything was available at 1pm. The donuts were fresh, soft, and tasty. Service was friendly and prompt. Prices were very reasonable at $1.30-1.75 per donut. A few small tables but mostly a grab and go type of place. I would definitely stop by again! read more

If you're looking for the best old-school donut shop in North County, look no further. This place is the real deal--no frills, no gimmicks, just really good donuts at a fair price. The kind of place that reminds you why donuts became a classic in the first place. Sunday mornings can get busy, and for good reason--it seems like every church in the area picks up their donuts here, which is a true testament to the quality and consistency. The couple who runs the shop is incredibly friendly, always greeting you with a smile, and their son sometimes helps out too, adding to the charm and family feel of the place. It's not trendy, it's not flashy--it's just delicious. If you want a solid, fresh, quality donut that speaks for itself, this is the spot. read more

I work in RB and have been anti one popular donut shop so I've been open to trying other donut shops. Been stopping by to get donut holes and it really hits the spot with my cravings. Really great donuts that are fluffy and melt in your mouth. Service was also amazing, 10/10 would recommend!

Have been going here for over 20 years. Sweetest family ever who owns the place!! Donuts are good (no bells and whistles like Donutgram or Donutbar, just original basic old fashioned donuts), prices are low, and you're supporting an old family business! read more

Online and on the door it says that they open at 5 AM, so I show up at 5:10. I realize the door is locked but I see an old man inside working so I knock. Guy just stares at me and gets back to whatever he was doing, the. looks at me about 3 more times without having the decency to open the door and tell me they open later than stated. No wonder big corps are taking over. read more

What a disappointment. Visiting this donut shop a little late in the day (noon) to bring into my office. I bought a dozen donuts and 3 of the coworkers stated and I agree that they were dry and seemed stale. I think it's hard to mess up donuts and I've often visited other donut shops late in the day and have never been as disappointed as I was. This is my favorite donut shop. They have the best apple fritters and old fashioned glazed. They don't over-cook the donuts. The owners and their son are really nice. If I had one complaint it would be that there is a lot of oil in the donuts. Perhaps they need to be drained of oil a bit more. However, that clearly doesn't stop me from buying from them. Everything is delicious. Much better than DD or Peterson's donuts read more

Our family has eaten donuts every Sunday since March 2020. It's been a routine and something we look forward to. Our favorite local shops are Donutopilos and Sesame Donuts. On Father's Day, my wife said she was referred to RB Donuts, as one of her coworkers said RB was much better than both. As I opened the box, initially, I was not impressed. One of the donuts halfway fell apart, but I remained hopeful. If you want to know how to wreck a breakfast treat - go to RB. The old fashion glazed, completely fell apart upon holding them, and tasted awful - similar to old grease all the way through. The chocolate cake donut was okay - the icing completely threw off the taste that made it unbearable. The apple fritter, again tasted like straight grease - awful! One thing about me, I love to eat...and I will typically eat anything! These donuts were so bad - I didn't even have the desire to finish them. The only reason I am leaving 2 stars instead of 0 (if it was possible), is because my 7 year old, ate hers. But when I asked how she liked hers...she put her thumb out and tilted it to the middle and said it was okay. I understand supporting a small business, but the quality of their product must increase if this shop is to remain around. read more

4.5 stars. I've been here quiet a few times. This place has pleasing donuts for a cheap price! I got a cream-filled powdered donut and 12oz coffee for $3.10. This morning the guy who helped me was SOOOOO NICE!!!!! I'm not a morning person, but his joviality put me in a good mood. What a guy. I'm giving 4.5 because I love this place but the coffee tasted a little burned--maybe a really dark roast? Also, since the pandemic is officially over, can't we sit down inside?? I hope this place keeps on truckin'. read more

3.5 stars. This is probably the best place I've tried around Rancho Bernardo, Carmel Mountain, Rancho Penasquitos. I bought these on a Sunday morning so your mileage may vary on any given day/time. My gripes about most of the other shops around here are that the other shops donuts are generally to DENSE or DRY. Whereas at this shop the donuts were light and very moist. We tried several different types. However, they were a little TOO moist in that they had a LOT of oil. If they could change the recipe or the cooking method to reduce the oil by about 1/4 to 30%, then I think these would be just about perfect. read more

So, out of all the donut shops in San Diego aside from the "gourmet, overpriced rich folk donuts"these are hands down the best I've had. The staff are amazing and the donuts are affordable. So, on 7/11/2021 I wrote a review of this place and I thought that it was time to give it another try to see if anything changed. I got the same donuts that I got last time so that I could try to be fair. The old fashion tasted stale and when I asked the man working if they were fresh, he said that they were made 30 minutes ago. What a load of crap! It was 12:30 in the afternoon and the kitchen area was dark. So, I stand by my first review and will not give this place a 3rd try and you should take a hard pass on this hole in the wall. read more

Very friendly owners, terrible donut shop. The decor, lighting, fixtures are all about twenty years old. The donuts were unbelievably stale, definitely not made fresh that day. We had a glazed old fashion, maple bar, and chocolate round with frosting and sprinkles. I found a long hair baked inside my donut, we threw out the whole bag to eat something else because they were all tasteless and hard. I hope they can update some of their business practices and recipes and turn this shop around. read more

From the outside, it seems like your typical donut shop. When you enter....well.....it STILL seems like your typical donut shop. "So, what's the big deal about this place, then?" you ask. Here are my answers. - We have no idea why the donuts here are so delicious. There's a nice selection of donuts. Among my favorite are the croissants and blueberry apple fritters. The ham and cheese croissant I got had JALAPENOS, which was absolutely delicious. - The staff was nice. I believe it's a family business, and everybody who helped us seemed to all be in the same family. It was exceptional service. Parking: Plenty, and it is shared by many other businesses FYI: - CASH ONLY - It seems like their clientele really like coming here. - They open at 5am every morning, so that definitely gives people good opportunities to get a dozen donuts for coworkers, friends, family, etc. if they have an early start to their day. Jalapeno Ham and Cheese Croissant. Just wondering, have you ever had Salmon in Puff Pastry (Salmon En Croute)? Executed property you have a great dish. Unfortunately, when I try it at home sometimes the Puff Pastry is too thick in some areas. While a small bite of this very rich gooey dough is decadent, you'd barf if you ate a big piece of it. Okay, now picture a large croissant as rich, buttery, and chewy like that. I couldn't eat more than a few bites. Also, the Ham and cheese was rolled up like a cigar on the inside making the weight of the croissant unbalanced. - Donuts are cheaper here. - Where are the "sweets"? - Cash only I've also got three words for you.
