Loud trucks aside, it was a good move (and the trucks added "character!) They make all of their beers and they have quite a selection. I even found a Belgian Triple! It was my lucky day. I ordered Mandarin Grilled chicken salad (I realized there were absolutely no mandarin oranges. Come to find out AFTERWARDS they're out of mandarins. The kitchen needs to wake up, even for a Sunday.) It was okay, the feta was definitely not fresh, likely prefab, but the chicken was really good. And the dressing (supposedly homemade) was a nice dipping sauce. I also ordered the Beer braised beef panini. It had horseradish inside. Really nice bread and cooked to perfection. And last, my server, Jordyn. She was friggin awesome. She made me feel like I was just hanging out on her back porch. So friendly and helpful.

Every meal seems a little lacking and leaves you wanting a little bit more but the atmosphere and staff are nice which helps to balance the disappointment. We ordered the bruschetta as our appetizer, it was enjoyable but more olive forward than we were expecting. I ordered the arugula salad which did say it had spinach in it. However, it was a mainly spinach salad. I opted to add chicken to it and ask our waitress if the chicken was seasoned and worth the ad and she assured me that it was. Unfortunately it was not seasoned and it was very bland reminding me of the pre-packaged chicken pockets you can buy at Costco. Had I known I wouldn't have added it as it did not add anything to the salad. My friend really wanted the brussel sprout salad and apparently they did not have brussel sprouts so it was only romaine salad so she opted for a pasta dish instead. We appreciated our waitress giving us the heads up and confirming that she still wanted the salad with the changes that would be made to it. We ended the evening by sharing a tiramisu for her birthday along with an espresso martini. The dessert options were nice, but the espresso martini wasn't traditional; it was more Baileys-forward than expected. Overall, it's a decent restaurant for a casual meal but it hasn't offered anything that would make us eager to return or crave another visit.

The front desk attendant at the hotel gave us a double thumbs up on the nearby Coachman Restaurant and Lounge so we made our way over with rather high expectations. We have to admit that at first glance the Coachman doesn't suggest a superior dining experience. A somewhat tired exterior and an outdoor deck populated by smokers gave us pause but we pressed on and could not have been more pleasantly surprised by the food, drink, and service. We started with a Casamiga Ranch Water and a pint of the local amber ale. The drinks arrived in frosted glasses with the perfect degree of crispness. The star here is the prime rib. We had the 12 ounce prime which was perfectly rare and served with a large dollop of horseradish as well as a medium rare prime rib sandwich. The meat was flawlessly seasoned and impeccably tender. Our visit to the Coachman reinforced the adage that one ought not judge a book by its cover. We don't know if our adventures will take us through Plainfield again but if they do we will prioritize a meal at the Coachman!

This location is just off Quaker Blvd. near the I-70 interchange and is quite convenient to the gaggle of airport hotels clustered around it. The building and the interior are reminiscent of Midwestern family-style restaurants. The facility is comfortable with ample seating, however, having both booths and tables. The breakfast menu features traditional Midwestern breakfast fare with pancakes, of course, as a cornerstone offering. We visited on a Friday morning and were seated right away. Our server, Amy, took care of us quickly and did a good job throughout our visit. My colleague went with the theme and got the big stack of six pancakes, too much for one sitting. He also got a side of fresh fruit, which was a nice offering. I went a little heavier and got the corned beef hash, a favorite of mine. Here, it comes with hash browns, which is a little unusual. I certainly appreciated this nuance. I also had some hash and potatoes left over to take away. We both thought our choices to be quite good. The coffee was not bad and more than adequate with food (not sure how it would be on its own, which is the ultimate test for coffee). Between the two of us with food, drink, tax and tip, we spent $42. By today's standards, that's not unreasonable. It was not a bad value considering we each had enough to take away for another meal. I would not hesitate to go back if another opportunity arose.

Lately both of those options have resulted in horrible quality and quanity of food. We've received salads that are half portion and missing ingredients and the ingredients are often not fresh. Today I decided maybe if we dined in, we would get better food. I was wrong. About half of the teenaged staff is polite and helpful. The other half seem put off and checked out. We've came in to pick up food in evenings and some of them are actually running around, screaming and playing around. When approached about issues, they've acted annoyed, put out and even confused about why we want exactly what we ordered. Today, I had both of my children with me. They brought one child's kids meal out first, missing items and with only a 4th of a cookie. I've never had another location give anything less than a full cookie. Her potato also had like a pinch of the requested bacon. It was pitiful. When approached about wanting more bacon, the missing butter and sour cream, and a full cookie, the person in the kitchen became angry at the request. The plate was finally handed back with a little more bacon, another 4th of a cookie and still no butter and sour cream. By the time she got everything she'd ordered, her potato was cold. Second kids meal finally came out, the Uncrustable having been microwaved because they had forgot to take any from the freezer this shift. When she bit into it, it was hot and sprayed jelly all over her. She also only received a 4th of a cookie.
