The entire block is out and the staff immediately delivered mini lanterns to tables so that we could see while food was still being prepared. Our waitress was attentive and incredibly helpful. I have been here several times and across the board, it's a decent restaurant that cares about it's clients. Every meal seems a little lacking and leaves you wanting a little bit more but the atmosphere and staff are nice which helps to balance the disappointment. We ordered the bruschetta as our appetizer, it was enjoyable but more olive forward than we were expecting. I ordered the arugula salad which did say it had spinach in it. However, it was a mainly spinach salad. I opted to add chicken to it and ask our waitress if the chicken was seasoned and worth the ad and she assured me that it was. Unfortunately it was not seasoned and it was very bland reminding me of the pre-packaged chicken pockets you can buy at Costco. Had I known I wouldn't have added it as it did not add anything to the salad. My friend really wanted the brussel sprout salad and apparently they did not have brussel sprouts so it was only romaine salad so she opted for a pasta dish instead. We appreciated our waitress giving us the heads up and confirming that she still wanted the salad with the changes that would be made to it. We ended the evening by sharing a tiramisu for her birthday along with an espresso martini. The dessert options were nice, but the espresso martini wasn't traditional; it was more Baileys-forward than expected. We just happened to be walking by while shopping and decided to stop in. I was not expecting it to be so beautiful on the inside! The menu is on the smaller side but all the classics you'd expect. I went with the spaghetti and meatballs and my brother had the chicken parm. They were good but did seem on the expensive for what you get. The breadstick was super chewy and not my favorite. We did have to wait about 10 mins for them to free up and set a table for 8 people however the service was so good, she got all of our orders right and came by to check on us often. I ordered a 12-inch chicken pesto pizza with great flavor, but the toppings did not seem hot. My dining partner ordered a build-your-own 12-inch pizza, which appeared hotter and colder than mine. I can't say enough good things about our experience here. Four of us went for my wife's birthday and each of us loved what we had. We started with the bruschetta, which was so good that we forgot to take a picture of it before digging in. The pasta dishes were excellent, as were the pizzas. The dough and sauce specifically stood out; it was clear that both were fresh and house-made. We also got a complimentary birthday dessert, which capped off the meal perfectly. Winnie or it may have been winner was our server and she was amazing and attentive! Sean is the manager and made sure to stop by and check on our experience. PROS: wood fire pizza was on fire! calamari with shrimp was a nice appetizer wine list could be longer but they had some great Italian choices including a barbera! I learned their pasta is handmade from Nesso downtown, so you're getting the best ingredient quality and top attention to dish detail over in Plainfield. I visited for Devour Indy and tried a three-course deal with their Brussels Sprouts Caesar salad, Potato Pizza, and Strawberry Gelato. The portions really are as big as the other reviews say - the pizza can easily serve two people, maybe even three if you get salads or starters as well. The Brussels Caesar salad was a dish I will be dreaming of having again and it balanced the richness of the cheese and cream on the pizza perfectly. My wife and I came here for Devour on a weeknight for dinner, and the service was very quick (Thanks, Sydney!). We sat at the bar and made a new friend! (pictured) It was relatively quiet, and the bar area is more secluded and has moodier lighting than the main dining area. The cocktails we ordered (Blueberry Basil and Italian Bird) were new flavor profiles for us and they were so good! The chopped salad and brussels sprouts caesar salad were topped with crispy pancetta, and the chopped salad had salami which I've never had before but it was delicious (coming from a guy that's usually not a fan of salads). THE STARS OF THE SHOW were the fennel & sausage pizza and the casarecce. The pasta was fresh and made that day, the fennel and sausage combo was wonderful and the dough was perfectly baked and not too crispy, and the beef and pork ragù were simply perfect. We have struggled to find a really good Italian restaurant that we both love but the entrees alone knocked it out of the park. I've been several times to Theo's Italian and every experience is somehow better than the previous one! Last time we went was for Valentine's Day and had an amazing time! The food was just delicious. Cunningham restaurant group has another addition to their portfolio of Indy restaurants. This is a contemporary Italian joint that features homemade pasta in a modern setting. It occupies the space formerly utilized by Stone Creek. It has a pretty hip, lively interior with some good music playing in the background. I went with the Bucatini and Pomodoro sauce served with meatballs. I loved the Bucatini - I wish more Italian restaurants would offer it. It makes for a fuller bite compared to regular spaghetti. Sauce was really good too. Good garlic flavor in there with fresh basil mixed in at the end. Meatballs were incredibly light - almost to a fault. They had the same density as Tofu. Like eating solid air. Some people like em that way. I like meatballs heavy on the meat and dense. Personal preference. Good craft cocktail selection at the bar and nice people serving them up. I definitely want to go back for dinner because they just added some new items on the menu. The host and waitress were really nice and it wasn't crowded at all. There were only three tables occupied on the lower level. Quiet atmosphere and it was perfect for a lunch meeting. I ordered off the pick two lunch menu...pepperoni pizza and the chopped salad. Both were good. The pickled onions were amazing the pizza was t greasy at all. Prices were reasonable and the food came out pretty quick. I look forward to going back for dinner. Pleasant surprise for lunch after arrival back home from the airport. We wanted craft pizza and Theo's did not disappoint! Once we arrived, we found out this restaurant is part of the Cunningham Restaurant Group (CRG). We have become big fans of CRG as every restaurant we have visited has been a home run. Im a fan of most Cunningham restaurants and Theo's is no exception. I'd say overall, it's generally a five. I've enjoyed everything I've had there. Pizzas are very good. Crust has a great chew to it. Went with my family this time and had the short rib. The short rib was delicious. Carrots were great. Potatoes were a little bland, on their own, but I liked the dish a lot overall. Chicken Alfredo, ravioli, and filet medallions with risotto also got good reviews. Ambiance was nice. Server was warm and nice, but she brought the check without asking about dessert so we had to ask for the dessert menu. The big disappointment was the tiramisu. Front of house folks are just starting their industry journey, but they were friendly and attentive. Cocktails had were Theo's Old Fashioned and an Italian margarita. The old fashioned was good. The margarita so so. We had the Burrata appetizer. It was good. We probably could have just ordered two of those and called it a light dinner. For dinner we had the Casarecce and Lobster Tortellini Nero. Both were good but the Lobster won our make believe competition. Creamy and hearty yet bright and unheavy. Will be back for this dish. Excited to try this new Cunningham restaurant! This one was on the first nights open so they are still working out the kinks of service and ordering. The staff is wonderful and explained the new menu. It wasn't too crowded so I'm not sure how loud the restaurant will get it if it was great. I also want to commend the staff on the ability to manage a severe allergy. I have a whey allergy which is not easy at an Italian restaurant and they did spectacular. The told me something was soaked in buttermilk and I was able to find a viable option for myself! They recreated a dish which was above and beyond what I could have imagined! The pizza was delightful! I love anything fig. Mine was modified with no cheese because of the whole no whey thing but didn't takeaway from the flavor. The whole staff is awesome! Give them a try! I was glad to be able to check out Theos during summer restaurant week. First an amazing salad with Brussel sprouts in it. One of the best salads I have ever eaten. Our travel club traveled to Plainfield for lunch. Upon entering, my first thought - upscale. The decorations in black silver and dark wood was very inviting. Out host dressed all in black quickly took me to our table. There were 14 of us. Separate checks of course . Our server Ellen, did an outstanding job although there were a few hiccups when our food was served. Nothing major. She kept our water and iced teas topped and made sure all was ok. We decided to celebrate my sisters birthday at Theo's. We came at lunch time on a Sunday and it was not busy but people were coming in and out at a steady pace. The restaurant is very beautifully decorated and has a nice atmosphere. Our server was very helpful and attentive. Before the rest of our party got there she asked if we were celebrating anything and made sure to follow up with birthday wishes and dessert for my sister. The table tried the fried calamari and shrimp which was tasty. I had the house side salad as part of my meal but decided to eat it as an appetizer. The salad was fresh and delicious. I ordered the Italian sandwich and really enjoyed that as well. I snuck a few bites of the cheesecake and the tiramisu and was in heaven! Being a CRG fan, I had to check out Theo's Italian while out in Plainfield. Quite the expansive dining room with an upstairs and downstairs! The server and hostess were incredibly nice and welcoming. I appreciated the variety of food options on the menu-- I went with the Potato pizza and it was delicious! I tend to be fairly "bougie" when it comes to good pizza & this was up my alley. Tried Theo's recently for weekend lunch. I had the meatball sub minus the pesto sauce and overall it was just OK. Meatballs were nothing to get excited about and the roll was average. Spouse had one of the pizzas (Margherita) which she loved but when I tried it again was just OK. This is an up and down review as my wife liked it, but I'd probably go somewhere else if offered a choice in the future. Theo's is a new Cunningham restaurant that just opened 3 weeks ago in The Shops at Perry Crossing in Plainfield. It is located where Stone Creek Dining used to be. You'll find street parking and a large parking lot behind Theo's (short walk). The upscale decor is lovely, cozy, and comfortable. The trees are perfect for providing privacy and a gorgeous way to visually separate the dining areas. Seating includes several booths and numerous tables. The secluded bar has bar top seating as well as the booths surrounding the bar. The second floor is accessible by stairs and a private area with tables that can be rearranged for a larger group if possible. Groups should definitely call ahead for reservations. Theo's offer a lunch, dinner, and kids menu. The lunch and dinner menu changes seasonally and has a variety of dishes from appetizers, sandwiches, homemade pastas with sauces, specialty pinsa, or a 14" pinsa that serves 1- 2. We ordered a specialty cocktail and a beer while looking over the menu. They do not offer draft beer, only cans and bottles. My husband doesn't eat cheese or dairy, so Theo's wasn't his first choice after browsing the menu. It's my fault as I didn't share the menu! He loves a simple, flavorful spaghetti and meatballs with Italian sausage and a salad with a loaf of warm bread (Vito Provolone's is our favorite). He was a true sport tonight and ordered the bowl of Minestrone soup and eight breadsticks with marinara sauce. The Minestrone soup was loaded with fresh, crisp, tender vegetables in a savory broth. He enjoyed the Minestrone soup and breadsticks smothered in butter. We prefer restaurants that serve complimentary bread and soup or salad with the entree. I feel it is a better value than Theo's. I love Italian food, so I was excited to try everything. I started with the Italian sausage, potato, and white bean soup, which was delicious but unique for many Italian restaurants. I will order again. My entree was the Bucatini and Meatballs in Pomodoro sauce. The sauce was a little bland for me, but Jenna brought parmesan cheese and hot chili flakes that helped greatly. Our server, Jenna, was terrific, efficient, and friendly, plus she knew the menu and ingredients well, removed used dishes when she passed by, and didn't rush us to leave. She was a pro! The only hic-up's we had were minimal and truly not issues. My husband prefers draft beer, and Theo's only serves cans and bottles. He can work with that since it's his personal choice. We were served tempid water without ice in our glasses. I'm not a fan of luck, warm water. Lastly, we prefer a soup/salad option and complimentary bread with our entree. It is a better value and will most likely keep us going to those restaurants over Theo's. I enjoyed my meal, and I look forward to trying Tiramisu and several other entrees.
