For a small town Italian restaurant it's five stars and one of a handful of locally owned restaurants I happily venture back to in the area. To be clear, Frank's wouldn't be five stars if located in a suburban or urban area but for Danville- it's solidly a great option! I've always found the restaurant designed well & to have friendly and attentive staff. The food is very good- I thought the chicken parm was delicious. The only thing I would change is how they prepare the "Antipasto Salad," it would be much better if they served this as a chopped salad vs seemingly throwing whole pepperoni slices, tomato slices, etc on the lettuce. I really like the atmosphere. It was very pretty. It feels like it could be a really nice date night place. I feel like my server was very nice. She did a great job. I started out with the spinach, artichoke dip with pita and their bread with oil and herbs. The bread and oil and herbs was very tasty. The spinach and artichoke dip was just okay. I feel like the flavor was maybe just different than what I'm used to in a spinach artichoke dip but would recommend it to others because it was okay. I had the linguine with clams in a white wine sauce. I had high hopes for this dish because I have ordered it at numerous other places. I would not recommend this dish. It lacked a lot of flavor. The main flavor that was brought out was wine. It felt like I was eating linguine that was just in a cup of wine. I did try to make it more palatable for myself by adding Alfredo and lots of Parmesan cheese and pepper, but couldn't get past maybe three bites of the food before I had to push it away. Very sad because that is one of my favorite dishes. I would like to try this place again, but would not go for wine sauce and hopefully find something amazing on the menu. I'm hardly ever in Danville however some friends wanted to go to Frank's Place and I was eager to try a new (to me) restaurant. There's only street parking and we had to park further down and walk over. It is a brick building on a strip and inside looks homey with tablecloths and antique decor. Our service was ok. It took them awhile to come to our table to take our orders and once we got our food they hardly came over to check on us. The food was amazing. I always love warm bread and seasoned oil. I ordered the Penne Caruso which didn't look like anything but it was loaded with so much flavor! The spicy sausage, sun dried tomatoes, and sauce were so good. I had never eaten here so I didn't know what to expect when I went in. But I was only there for a few seconds when I was greeted bye the staff. It was pretty quiet for a restaurant that was almost full and had a lot of to go orders. The clientele seemed to be a older crowd. The pizza looked really tasty when I opened them up. The only thing I could find wrong with them was they where over salty especially the pepperoni. The stuffed pizza was pretty hefty. Decided we wanted to celebrate Pi day 3/14, with some good pizza, so we headed to Frank's Place. Had never tried the pizza there, and since we couldn't agree on toppings we ordered 2 different pizzas. (Could have done 1/2 and 1/2 but wanted different types of pizza). My dining partner tried the 9" version of the current special pizza which was Luca's Dolce Fuoco - "Luca's Sweet Fire' and was described as "Signature pizza sauce, spicy Italian sausage, peppadew peppers, pepperoni, mozzarella cheese and topped with Hot Honey ". She said it was very tasty, nice crispy crust and would definitely order it again. I tried the stuffed meat pizza. It only comes in 16". This pizza has 2 crusts, one on top and one on bottom and has sausage, ham & pepperoni. This is an interesting pizza and very good. Also very filling as it's like eating 2 pieces for every single piece. I have plenty of leftovers for the weekend. Overall, excellent food, great service, and atmosphere. This is now my new favorite Italian restaurant place in Hendricks county. This is the first time we have been to this place and The taste is delicious and I love their homemade Italian dressing for the salad and their bread was just really super soft. They are located right on the main road and they have some parking space at the back of the restaurant. And the front of the restaurant. You just have to park on the main road. They are family friendly and business casual. The inside decor is just beautiful. When we went it was Christmas time so the decoration was christmasy. They do have some vegetarian options. I am unsure if they do have any vegan options. I don't remember seeing any outdoor seating, but they definitely do carry out. The team member who helped serve us was really amazing. They explained very clearly and we had any questions and they brought food on time and the food was hot which was very nice because we were there in the cold. read more

I arrived at 12 noon on a Friday and was seated immediately. They were about half full in the dining room but it didn't seem like they were that busy. I found a parking place almost directly in front of the restaurant on the street. I did like glass topped tables. Even though it is a pizza place, they have a lot more to offer than just pizza, calzones, and salads. I thought about the Minestrone soup but I ended up ordering the Meat Lasagna. It was a pretty big portion and came with a pre buttered roll. The lasagna was excellent! It was loaded with meat, not overwhelmed with cheese and included a generous amount of marinara sauce. Service was great. Fast, prompt, and accurate. The restroom was clean and stocked. There is a wheelchair ramp from the sidewalk up to the level of the front door but the door might be a tad stiff for some people. read more

There was no flavor, I got the chicken parmesan and my wife got the Chicken Michelangelo. Neither had much of any flavor. Salt and pepper didn't help. During the summer Danville Indiana does a First Friday cruise in on the square. We were there for the cruise in and decided to go to Frank's Place. We have been to this restaurant before but it had been many many years ago. From past visits I remembered that I liked the bruschetta so that is what I ordered. It was $10 for 6 pieces of toasted French bread with a mix of tomatoes olive oil and basil. It also come with feta cheese but I asked for it on the side cause my husband can't have dairy. I really enjoyed it. My husband ordered a small deluxe pizza with no cheese. It had a ton of toppings on it. They give every table complementary bread and olive oil dip. It was very tasty. The olive oil was flavorful but I have no clue what it was seasoned with. We were a group of five and walked in at 5:00 pm and were seated immediately. By the time we left the restaurant was packed and there we people waiting to be seated. I can see us returning next month when we are back for the cruise in. read more

I had high hopes for a new Italian food location. Unfortunately it didn't live up to our hopes. Common theme, flavor and seasoning deficient. Service was ok, waitress didn't have any idea what the bar served in whiskey or bourbon. Timing was ok, definitely didn't have to wait long. I ordered minestrone which I believe is always a weather vain on how the main courses would be and it was true to form. Little flavor and seasoning deficient. Visited this location with some family over the summer. Overall, the experience was just ok, nothing special. Starting with the positives, the staff were incredibly nice, accommodating, and patient with our party of eight. They were quick to get us anything we needed, and checked in multiple times. We had two young children with us, and this was a great place to bring them. The location is really nice, and the restaurant itself is clean and well cared for. The food however, was a let down. It wasn't the worst, but definitely not the best in terms of Italian. There were some weird choices, such as drowning salad in shredded cheese (not even good cheese). The food lacked flavor (the gnocchi in tomato sauce), and some of the portions were small (the salmon & asparagus), especially for the price. Overall, this restaurant was ok. Went back to Frank's for a quick lunch. I had last been here for dinner. They have some great lunch deals. Most items are around $7.00 or less. I got a nice Stromboli with red sauce. It tasted great and was a perfect balance of the cheese veggies and sausage. Crust was good too. Cooked perfect. Service was also good very nice and fairly quick service given they are making and baking or cooking the items. The hidden little bar in the back of the restaurant is super cute and a great way to chat with the staff over a glass of wine. My husband regularly orders a calzone and has never been disappointed. I go for a lighter fare of grilled salmon and asparagus which is seasoned just right and is a perfect portion. The "eggplant thing" or the ROTINI DI MELANZANE is delicious and a must-have appetizer. We have enjoyed several meals lately at Frank's and especially the wonderful, courteous and efficient service. This evening, Sat. Aug. 20, 2020 was a a huge disappointing surprise. We debated getting a frozen pizza out of the fridge or calling Franks and ordering one to go. Hmm , we decided on Frank's and picked one up. It was Saturday evening, of course the restaurant was crammed with a line out the door. Now that the scene is set the point of this review is that the Large pepperoni Pizza was awful, perhaps the worst we have been served "ever". The crust was soggy and wet and tasted "funny". There was very little sauce and the pepperoni was minimal and unevenly distributed. All as if prepared by someone inexperienced, or overly rushed or plain uncaring. This is of course the way good large business's turn into small businesses. We should have thrown a frozen pizza in the oven. After one slice the Frank's Pizza went into the trash. read more

Went there on Thursday. My daughter and I stepped in and waited where it says to wait to be seated. We stood there while the employees packed up orders. No hello, no acknowledgement that we were standing there. So after 5 minutes I asked are we waiting on a hostess to be seated? She said no. I guess I can seat you and she was annoyed that I had asked her. She sat us and we waited 10 minutes and no waitress. So I had to get up and find one. She took our order. Another 10 minutes in and no bread with olive oil. So I had to ask. She brought the bread out and we waited another 15 minutes for the pizza. A small one topping pizza took 25 minutes?? Really? Sorry to say that the quality of food is not up to par. Chicken Parm was greasy and over cooked. States it is "baked" but it is breaded, fried and then baked. Lasagna was not fresh and presentation looked like yesterday's leftovers. They once had delicious bread, and now they messed that up and serve stale, dry, flavorless bread with a "butter spread" or plain oil. No flare, not comparable with years gone by when Frank owned. This is one of Danville's hidden gems. The ambiance is great with exposed brick and high ceilings. They have really good deals for lunch and it's usually not crowded. I like their ravioli or pizza. (which is also available for take out) Save room for dessert because their tiramisu is my favorite. There is a great wine selection and a small room for a bar. The atmosphere is casual or dressy!
