I came to this place with one thing in mind and one thing only; candy. I wasn't in need of ice cream or a meal, I just wanted to pick up some candy to take home with me. It's kind of funny actually. I wanted Boston baked beans since I was in Boston. I came in and immediately started to scour the walls until I spotted what I came for. It was a bit tricky for me to get this particular candy out. It was extremely hot on the day I visited and I believe it made the candy stick together. However, after some hammering at it and a bit of elbow grease I was able to get some of what I came for. What floored me was the pricing of the candy. After the initial sticker shock went away I anted up and paid. For the price I paid for the candy and a bottle of water it was basically equal to a meal. The fudge was really creamy and thick however the ribbon of mint in the middle was probably too thick, it overwhelmed the overall flavor of a bite. Quincy's is just okay. I have been to Chelsea Market in NY and it is a little bit the same. Nothing special nor spectacular but enough food options for your quick lunch downtown. None of the stores or restaurants caught my attention that would make me revisit again. But it is something to do downtown as there is not much else to do. read more

Quincy's Place is located under the Faneuil Hall Market Place cupola at basement level with an entrance/exit flight of stairs at either end of the space. Ice cream shop and candy store all wrapped up in one, it is hard to realize that they also sell food-food. That is, if you consider hamburgers and french fries as such. Heh. Whether eating in or getting take-out or ringing up a selection of their candies, you order and pay at the cash register by the center of the floor. Fortunately there was a sign posted, otherwise I'd have no idea. I ordered their Half off at the Hall deal (a February and March special) - Hamburger, Fries & Drink Combo for $5.50 (reg. $11) - which seemed a good deal till I noticed a sign posted on the cash register stating that it includes the Kids cheeseburger, which is listed as $5.95 on their menu vs the $7.95 1/4 lb Faneuil Burger, which when you add the $2.95 fries & fountain drink option to any sandwich would round up the to $11 stated regular price. Yup, I felt a bit tricked. Having patiently waited 10 going on 15 minutes seated at one of their tables, I wondered if perhaps I was supposed to wait at the counter for my order? Nope, they'd deliver. But then my burger popped out of the kitchen before I left the counter after my inquiry. The burger patty itself was okay sized, but nestled within the rather plump seeded roll, it seemed small in comparison. The texture of the patty seemed more pasty than ground, but I could still taste the beefy flavor. The fries resembled the thin cut lengths of McDonald's, but needed a hit of salt. Not bad for $5.50. Not quite worth it at $9. So $11? Nah. Initially, I was going to give them bonus points for cleanliness, as I watched the two staff members wiping and dusting when the teen candy crowd died down. But then I noticed the lady using the same Swiffer along the ledge under the candies that was previously wiped along the floor. read more

My mom and I tried this place out tonight. Nobody was there when we went in - we ordered 2 burgers with 1 order of fries. Everything was very hot and very fresh. The burger meat was a little thick for our taste but it was still very good. By the time we left - there were probably about 15 people in there getting candy and ice cream. read more

Stopped in for a late breakfast. Ordered the lumberjack breakfast. They seriously need a bigger plate for this. When the order came I thought they had forgotten half my food.. My hash browns were under my toast, my bacon was under my hash browns, my eggs were under my bacon. And my blueberry pancakes were crispy on the outside, raw on the inside. Think I need to talk to Quincy! I saw Quincy's Place beautifully described in a Faneuil Hall Market guide. I saw a few positive reviews here on Yelp, one stating that it was EASILY the best in burgers, fries and shakes. And then the Andrew Jackson and friends I handed over in payment for my meal to be left me with anticipation for a simply straightforward good diner breakfast. For whatever reason, I just had to try the place. The place was quiet; I imagine I was the first customer of day, arriving shortly after opening. Blame me for going without the ambiance of a buzzing crowd but it should have afforded me particular care and service. I didn't know what I was gonna have but figured I'd start with coffee and was pointed to a self serve dispenser, surrounded by paper cups, plastic wear, and sugar packets. Something about this disappointed me. Felt like a fast food restaurant I guess. Ready for breakfast, I asked about an omelet as I picked up a menu, to which attendant responded, "We're not really an omelet place but I can make you one if you'd like." However, I looked past a few breakfast sandwiches and ordered the lLumberjacks breakfast which seemed to sample the entire menu. Not sure about you but when you attach lumberjack to the name of something, I imagine a hefty plate, suitable for a hungry lumber hacking Jack! I thought I mighta been getting ahead of myself, having an "easily the best burger" ordered on standby for when I finished my breakfast but shortly arriving at the counter was a platter managing a preformed hash brown patty (I hoped it would've been shredded and grilled), a brown'n'serve sausage patty, two unbuttered, uncut, barley toasted slices of wheat bread, and maybe two eggs that were beaten and seemingly fried (I ordered them scrambled soft and now wondering what this omelet would have looked like.)- all sheltered by a plastic fork and knife. My pancakes were right beside it on a disposable plate and was accompanied by two butters and a packet of syrup. They were slightly undercooked with their peanut-butter-like gooey center. Next was the burger, which I ordered medium well. I didn't really look at the menu but he didn't inform me of the near impossibility of my request seeing that the burgers were quarter pounders. Well, I figured this out myself once I finally foraged my burger patty buried in the forest of lettuce and tomato consumed bya sesame seed bun. I was glad to have been reintroduced to the sesame seed bun; it's been a while. So, Quincy, I'm not impressed, nor pleased. It wasn't just the microwave ready breakfast or the Dixie plates it was served on. Kinda felt like the dorm room I never had and the experience wasn't rescued by some great food. I could've have done better with my money. I cut some slack figuring that it was easier on the guy who took my order took my money and cooked my food if he didn't have to wash too many dishes but... Then I thought that maybe it's admirable that he's working his way through school until I found out he already graduated some years ago and was a manager! Perhaps the ice cream makes up for it all, but I won't be back very soon to find out. read more

Because of the huge mob in the Quincy Marketplace, Yelp directed us to Quincy's Place which is located underneath the Marketplace near the middle. Hard to find the stairs down, which made this burger joint and candy and ice cream store a quiet haven from the crowds upstairs. It was a quiet haven in part because there weren't many customers here. The quiet was periodically interrupted by screaming kids checking out the tons of hard candy and expensive ice cream. Had a burger and fries. They were fine, but a long time coming. Hard to explain since there were hardly any other customers there having lunch. read more

Food was hardly edible. Avoid this place and eat upstairs. Girlfriend and I ordered basic bacon cheeseburgers. They were terrible. They ran out of cheddar cheese early on a slow day. The cheese we finally got wasn't even halfway melted. Cold cheese on a bad burger is not a good combo. The "bacon" was like something you'd get at a fast food joint. It was round, flat, and not at all crispy. The fries were lack luster and tasted like they ran out of salt. The server was a high school student who didn't want to be there and made sure you knew it. He wasn't pleasant in anyway and only made a bad experience worse. As far as the candy goes they have a decent selection but I wouldn't go near it with a ten foot pole. I saw a child sneeze into an open jar of Swedish fish. The attendant didn't seem to notice or care if he did. Avoid this place, stay upstairs in the main concourse and you will be much better off. read more

Quincy's Place is a great place to stop and grab a bite to eat. Definitely better priced than a lot of the places in Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market. You can get candy & ice cream there too! I had a "HUGE" burger with lots of fries, and unlimited fountain drink. Kids got Grilled Cheese which was so big they could have shared. A lot of food at good prices. (Gotta remember that Faneuil Hall is a tourist area so things are a bit pricey, although its lower at Quincy's Place.). Staff was friendly and would definitely come back. If you are in the area and looking for large portions at good prices you won't go wrong coming here. Wish I didn't live so far away. read more

This place got high reviews so i decided to try it out while visiting. Worst mistake of my Boston trip. First off the employees barely speak any english so ordering is almost impossible. My friend got a burger and it came out with the biggest hair i have ever seen in it, so he returned it and they just brought the same burger out to him with the bite still taken out of it. Overly expensive candy in this down stairs store under Quincy Market. Staff is unhelpful and once they have your money their attitude changes from pseudopleasant to near aggressive. My 12 year old took his money for his meal. He went down into this place. He purchased candy bars and a box of Jelly bellies (btw it was $14.99 for a small box of these jelly beans). I came here on a Saturday and this area was busier than a mofo. i was visiting from California and it was nice to see all the activities going on. There was also an endless variety of places to eat. I didn't even realize this restaurant was in Quincy Market, considering we had to walk downstairs to get to it. But once I got there I felt like "a kid in a candy store," literally. Candy covered the walls of the cute ice cream shop, which seemed to serve food as well. We all got kid-sized dishes, and because they were so expensive I was worried we'd be ripped-off, but the portion sizes were enormous and the flavors were delicious! My sister was moving to Japan, so she wanted a delicious burger before she left the States as she probably wouldn't be having one for a year or so. Based on other Yelp reviews we stopped in at Quincy's Place before she left. To start, the place is fun. Has an old diner feel (small inside though) And the walls are lined with CANDY! I thought the candy bar was fun, and while waiting for our food I walked around and peeked at all the candy options. And totally found a gummy snake (Which my boyfriend thought was hilarious!) And some delicious jumbo malted milk balls. As for the food, we ordered 3 Bacon cheese burgers, and one just cheese burger. All with fries and a drink. The food came out quickly (but not so quickly that you think they didn't cook the burger.) The burger was delicious, and I was fan of the round bacon. (Shaped that way not made that way) as it stayed on the bun better. The fries were yummy shoe string fries. We got a lot of them, and the lovely Brazillian woman at the counter said she would bring us more because we didn't get enough! And then she brought us a whole plateful! They all got devoured by our party though. The burgers were cooked well, juicy and not tough. If I take a trip to Boston and am craving a burger I will probably go here. After walking around the Marketplace for a bit we went back to Quincy's to feast on ice cream sundaes! I got chocolate peanut butter, and my sister got a maple pecan milkshake. All very yummy. They have all types of candy that I've grown up eating, but I would say everything's quite pricey, especially for candy. There's many ice cream options as well, but the ice cream was just okay, nothing special. The prices for ice cream on one hand may be a little pricey, but they're quite generous with their portions. I have no idea how this place gets such good reviews. My family was in town and after a hot day out with two toddlers we wanted to eat somewhere kid friendly. Quincy's place seemed perfect. When we first got there, we were completely ignored for a good 4 minutes. No one even said, we'll be right with you until I asked if we were in the right place to order. The two women working there seemed to know nothing about their food or cash register. The first woman couldn't tell me if the smoothies had dairy in them and literally went back into the fridge pulled out the container and told me to read the ingredients. Then after she took my part of the order she told her coworker that she would go cook, and the coworker should ring me up. But the rest of my party hadn't ordered yet, so we actually ordered more food on the same bill. The coworker didn't seem to understand anything we said and couldn't find the right buttons on the cash register. She couldn't understand that I wanted two hot dogs with one order of fries even though all the pricing was separate. She kept asking, "fries with both?" To which I said, "no, I want two hot dogs and one order of fries" at least twice. A few minutes later the first woman came out and said, "you told me you wanted two hot dogs, did you change it?" I said, "no, but you only took part of the order and my other guests added onto it." "ok, but there are no hot dogs on the order" she said. I was so confused. I said, "I told you what I wanted, two hot dogs and one order of fries and you went back to cook it and then I repeated what I wanted several times to the girl who rang me up also adding the items my sister ordered for her family". The first woman kept just saying, "there are no hot dogs on the order." So my sister found the receipt and it turns out the woman charged me for chicken dogs instead of quincy dogs. Then, they didn't tell us until after we cashed out that the drinks my sister ordered didn't qualify for the combo pricing, so she had paid for two drinks she didn't want and then had to pay additional for the ones she did want. When the food came out I ended up getting two plates each with one hot dog and an order of fries, which means I probably paid for two orders of fries. The only good part of the whole experience was that the hot dogs were actually really yummy, but it's hard to screw that up. The kids grilled cheese was not even melted. My sister pulled the sandwiches apart to cool them down and the cheese in the middle was still intact and cold. No cooling necessary. The club was really just a sandwich, but it was edible. The steak and cheese was really dry. Such a wasted lunch. Next time we'll just do the food court. read more
