I feel crummy writing a tepid review for a small business, but Quick Frames really disappointed me. I came in with about 20 pieces of art- some done by me, some on cloth, some vintage posters - and trusted yelpers to steer me in the right direction. First of all, the selection of frames and matting leaves a lot to be desired. And none of it looks quality, even the expensive stuff. Nathan, who was helping me, was friendly at first but got really irritated when I asked simple questions: what's the difference between the wood in this frame versus that one? How should I clean acrylic glazing? How is the artwork inserted into the frame? (I regret nothing. I am an educated consumer, want the best for my art, and expect a framing shop to just answer the questions, cut the 'tude.) When I called him out (gently) to tell him he was overestimating the art measurements by INCHES with his tape measure, he got super defensive and for the rest of the encounter he was pretty patronizing. He made multiple mistakes when counting inches and dollars. So many strikeouts that the guy in the back, Gary (who I later learned is the owner), joked "oh man, you're gonna have to explain what you meant with all these chicken scratch calculations to me later when we frame these." I didn't feel too confident after that and wanted to leave, but the poor guy had already spent so much time. So I set aside the rest of my art and paid up. Meanwhile, I took the other 70% of the art to Michaels down the street, was helped by Bob who is quite possibly the nicest and most knowledgable framing guy ever, and received super high quality custom framing for the same price. And it looks stunning. I called a week later to check if they were ready for pick up since they said 1 week turnaround. They said it wouldn't be ready for another couple days. Every couple days I called and they said the same thing; "another couple days." Quickframes? Yesterday, three weeks later, I got to speak with Gary, the owner, who admitted that they forgot one of the pieces in the group, and that the frame I selected was no longer available. Less apologetic than I'd expect a small business to be, they only offered doing it with a similar but costlier frame AFTER I haggled with them. Furthermore, they hadn't bothered to keep me abreast of the situation for the 3 weeks I was waiting, which I do not appreciate. Overall the experience was more of a headache than I expected and probably won't be back. read more

OH MY GOD. Home of the $19.95 poster framing deal, you can't beat Quick Frame. They can do fancy stuff too, they can charge you more if you want, but why? I have two Australian day bill style movie posters. The Monkees "Head" cost me $175 to frame at a more expensive place. The "Butterfield 8" one cost $19.95. I can't tell the difference. They listened to my desire to not mount the poster, just frame it. It looks great! Now, it's not under UV protection glass, but I don't need it, it's not in the sun. It doesn't have matting, but I wanted to keep the slim shape of the day bill poster, so that wasn't needed either. I have a bunch of other vintage movie posters and I'm bringing them to Quick Frame. Oh, and the best part? NO UPSELLING! I went to another place in La Canada and even with my 50% off coupon, the guy was trying to tell me it would cost $249!! That's kookoo for cocoapuffs crazy. Bring your stuff to Quick Frame, it's fast and they'll do it right. read more

Ok - this place doesn't thrill me. I brought in a few prints to be framed. They did a good job helping me to decide on materials and colors, but when it came time to execution there were issues. For example, one came back in a metal frame that was not well matched in a couple of the corners. In fact, there were some sharp burrs exposed. I didn't notice this until I got home, and when I returned it they were not apologetic. Another print was slanted behind the mat, so you could see a bit of its white border. Finally, now over a year later two of the larger ones have mats which are separating off the prints. There are better places, I'm sure. read more

Quick Frames is far and away the best place in LA to get excellent frames at a cheap price. I have been getting prints framed here since 2006; I usually get the basic black metal, and all the work has always been superb. My roommate gets pre-made frames from Ikea, but for nearly the same price you can get real glass from Quick Frames. For $25, you will not find a better deal for real frames up to 24x36. In fact, I'm headed right there to drop off a couple of movie posters. read more

I'm leaving a review for attempted service with Quick Frames. After calling for an estimate a few weeks ago, I was given an incredibly competitive price for 3 customs frames. After coming into the store with the materials I needed to have framed, the store manager refused to honor the pricing. While cheap for standard sized frames, Quick Frame isn't worth the hassle or lack of customer experience for any custom work. Just go to Aaron Brothers and call it a day. At least you'll know the extra you're paying is for quality and service. read more
