(This review is "not recommended" by yelp, but it's a real review by a real client. I keep a separate yelp account for my medical reviews because these experiences are personal and I don't want my friends and family reading about them.) This review is for the appointment-only lab in 103 (first floor). I've never been to the other Quest in this building. I used to like coming to this location because it's appointment-only, which means a calm, quiet waiting area and techs who (usually) aren't rushed or overburdened. The last time I went in, however, I was 15 minutes late for my appointment (the first time that happened). I walked in and there was no one there. No one in the waiting room and no one at the desk. Then Linda came out from the back and I told her I was 15 minutes late for my appointment and apologized. She rudely said that, technically, I was a no-show because I was 15 minutes late and that she'd normally turn me away, but she'd take me this "one time." The rest of the visit she was curt and short with me, as if I'd ruined her whole day by showing up 15 minutes late. I would have preferred it if she turned me away, actually. That way I wouldn't have had to endure her rude attitude. I don't expect any special favors from people, but once she decided to honor my appointment, she should have treated me like any other Quest client. I've gone to this Quest location a lot, I'm a "good" customer. This is how Quest treats its good customers. read more

I went in two weeks ago. They took 19 vials of blood from me. I kept telling them it didn't seem right. Turns out they processed three orders that were almost a year old and didn't even process the order I had come in for. I felt awful for three days due to blood loss and I still have to get more taken. Stay far away. They have no idea what they're doing. read more

Do not go here! I went in for an appointment, they took my labs and the incompetent lab tech took 15 minutes filling out my info into a computer. A week later my doctor does not have my results. I have them call quest and surprise surprise they have no record of my going there. These people should be sued for mismanagement. read more

I got in and out pretty fast. I went on the Friday before 4th of July so maybe it was slow because everyone was out of town. It's on the 11th floor, take the elevator (obvs) Some workers are friendlier than others. The view while getting your blood drawn is nice. The bathrooms are okay. Tests came back relatively quickly. I believe parking is paid garage or metered street. I choose the latter. read more

Went here for a pre-employment drug test. Was told to go to the 11th floor originally by the security guard at the entrance after I told him where I was going. Got to the 11th floor and was told to go back to the first floor, suite 103 I believe. This is where I had my walk in drug test take place. They don't start doing walk in drug testing until 10am. So if you don't have an appointment don't go before 10am. I would recommend maybe arriving around 9:45-9:50am just to secure your name on the list to go first or so. But the process was really quick. I was out by 10:30am. The woman who conducted my drug test told me the results would take 2-3 days and the results will be sent to my employer. Also, the waiting room has only a few chairs, wasn't busy at all. Besides myself, there was only 3 other people there and one left because they were at the wrong place. I'd recommend this place, just would say they need to work on communication as to where to go better because people were originally sent to the wrong floor when first arriving. read more

The new registration protocol for patients to sign for the day is very poor. There was no staff at the desk. You walk into the waiting room and see signs and a tablet on the side of the desk.There was only a small sign that says register with the computer tablet. During my 1 hour plus wait, I've watched a patient Who appeared to be illiterate stop and stare at the signs for five minutes. A person who was waiting got up and assisted the new patient with the registration. A half an hour later, an elderly Chinese man walked in and was baffled. I spoke to the man in Chinese and helped him register. This Asian male did not speak English hardly at all and clearly could not read or input his identification information onto the tablet. The new system of registration clearly does not meet the needs of illiterate or non-English speaklng clients. During my hour plus waiting Time, I only noticed one staff working. 10 minutes before I was seeing another staff return from lunch break. Then both staff proceeded to take blood drawls for the laboratory. There still was no staff at the desk to assist with the registration. read more

Extremely poorly run. I arrived on time and checked in for an appointment and waited for twenty minutes before the front desk attendant told me that I should go to the other quest office in the building. I ended up waiting 30 minutes even with an appointment and arriving in time. read more

I first went to the one at 388 9Th St, Ste 218A, Oakland, CA. I drove around for 15 minutes couldn't find any parking. Then I went to one at 3300 Webster st, set 103, Oakland. They were Very professional and fast. I would recommend this place to anybody looking to get their blood drawn. read more

Awful, awful, awful. I called quest to make an appointment ahead of time to get a pre-employment drug screen done. They directed me to suite 103, instead of 1110 (which is walk in only). When I arrived, the lady in 103 told me they do not do drug screens there, followed by a blank stare. Suite 103 was completely empty. So she directs me to suite 1110, where there is over an hour wait to be seen. Terribly slow service, and complete waste of resources, to have one lab completely empty. Also, they should have told me on the phone that you cannot make an appointment for drug screens. read more

RUN, RUN FAST AWAY FROM QUEST DIAGNOSTICS. Don't try and make an appointment with Quest, I did and spent an hour and still do not have an appointment. BY PHONE: FORGET IT!!!! You will Never get to speak to a person no matter what you do! BY COMPUTER: FORGET IT!!! It gave me an appointment and then the email they sent said they messed up and I had to do it again. I tried but the time I had requested was gone, was it somebody else in the time slot or ME??? No way to know. NO ONE TO TALK TO!!!! One would have to DRIVE down to where they physically are to speak to a person. I needed to know when I took my last test since Medicare will only pay every three months--- NO ONE TO TALK TO!!!! IF you like ATT then you'll love quest, they are run the same way. Treat their customers like dirt. Don't say I didn't warn you. read more

Quest ALWAYS takes forever to get results back. Not sure why I went in last week, as the same thing happened again. Doc told me test results would take 2-3 days. Lab tech told me test results would take 2-3 days. Its been over a week, and no test results. The people at the lab were pleasant enough, for not making eye contact. Today I spent a good 45 minutes in a phone tree before I got a human, who transferred me to a message saying the office was closed, during stated business hours. I'm not going back. No results. I made an appointment (on the internet) for 8:45am and was seen in the office on the first floor. I give 5 stars to the phlebotomist, a black woman with (I believe) braids. She was excellent. I have very deep veins and she found them easily. I didn't even feel the needle go in. She was very professional, calm and had everything under control. Unfortunately, I give zero stars to the corporation. They usually only have one person at each location. It is literally impossible for one person to do the job. They have to answer the phone, check in patients, make sure their equipment is in place, clean up and who knows what else. Of course, they get backed up and the patients get angry. This is very unfair to the employees and the patients. The simple solution is to have two people working at once, but that might cut into the CEO's multi-million dollar bonus. read more

I was delighted with my visit today. I had the 6:15am appointment, I arrived at 6:05am, the lady let me in to suite 103. The same lady that did the paperwork also drew the blood. She was very efficient and pleasant, it was a much better experience than I was expecting. read more

3300 Webster, Oakland This morning I stood in line for 17 minutes with about 20 other people waiting for someone to come to the desk & wait on us; I finally left. I just needed to drop something off. Last week I had made an "appointment" at the "appointment only" office and waited for an hour before anyone waited on me. Then the lab tech couldn't find my doctor's e-lab-slip in the computer. Quest has really gone down the tubes! No time or effort for customer satisfaction. "Beancounters running the place," as my husband says. read more

I went this morning to get some lab work done. I had gone online the night before and setup an appointment for 7:30. I got there just before and there was no one waiting. Orlandia greeted me and we took care of the paperwork . She then did the blood draw which could not have gone smoother. I was on my way to work 10 minutes later. I will note that this is the appointment only office located on the ground floor in suite 103 not the one on the 11th floor. read more

This place has uneven service and seems to be poorly managed. Today I was 4th or 5th on the waiting list but waited for more than an hour. I think it's a matter of too few techs doing EVERYTHING. Why can't Quest just hire a desk person for these offices? Too little care for the clients, I guess. Done. read more

The staff that there is is friendly and competent, but Quest is seriously understaffed. That results in often long waits. The by Appointment only facility will take more than one appointment for a given tie slot without allocating staff to cover. They used to have administrative clerks up front to take care of that work but now they shifted those tasks onto the phlebotomists, further reducing the flow through. They have also been known to lose requisitions for tests. I suspet it's as good as it gets. read more

Staff are not kind! Even rude! You need to self-check in on a tab at the front desk where no employee is there unless when someone comes out to call the next patient , but some old people have trouble with it. I helped an old lady in front of me. However, another old man seemed to be stuck there later, and he asked a nurse for help when she was passing by. Sadly, the nurse just told him to follow the instructions on the tab and left. Obviously, the old man got stuck there. So I helped him. When we were waiting for our turns, the instruction screen was almost frozen. It said I just needed to wait for three minutes, but I waited for about fifteen minutes when I was the first on the waiting list. Finally, it was my turn. When I confirmed with the nurse if it is in network of my insurance plan, she told me to ask my insurance company. But my insurance company requires me to confirm it with the providers, and all other providers will give me an answer instead of telling me to go back ask the insurance company. Insane! Remember, never expect they will give you a smile, even a fake professional smile. Their facial expressions when they talk to patients look like you owe them 100 bucks. I will never go there again!!! read more

No one likes getting blood drawn, but if I had to do it again, I would definitely choose Quest Diagnostics - Webster Street location ! Scheduling an appointment was simple and easy! My experience at the facility couldn't have been any more positive. I had an appointment set for 8am, arrived 10 minutes early and the lab technician took me in immediately rather than having me wait until my scheduled appointment - this allowed me to get to work on time so I was extremely appreciative of the efficiency provided. Cathy, the lab technician, was TERRIFIC!!! She was professional, quick, and friendly! She had such positive energy which really helped put me at ease! read more

Took my sister here for her drug screening, came in at 7 cause they weren't taking appointments then found out the drug screen begins at 9. The receptionist saw my sister and I and told us to check in at 9. We went to get something to eat and came back at 8:55 the receptionist remembers us and checks my sister in. Then we waited for almost an hour, and within the hour there was at least 15 people came in after us got in before my sister. So we asked one of the lab people. She said the receptionist forgot about us. And I was already upset cause we are on a schedule. I had to get to work. The receptionist saw us just sitting here and and these people going in before us and didn't mention anything. I am very very upset about how unprofessional everyone here is. The receptionist's name is melody and all I saw her do is get coffee and go on break. The lab person (Linda) even rudely said "you can leave, you don't have to stay here." If it wasn't for my sister I would've just left. read more

I made an appointment online for 10am. I showed up at 9:50, there was no line and was helped immediately by friendly staff. The phlebotomist J.G. was professional and did a quick and painless blood draw. The Quest central phone based appointment and feedback systems were both clunky and hard to use but this facility itself was very well run. read more

I have extensive experience working in various clinics/hospital settings. This place is terrible. I mean, Terrible! Please, for your sake and sanity do not go to the Webster location. As others have posted, you get bounced between the 1st and 11th floor a couple times before settling down. Once you enter a room you cannot leave until you have completed your test. If you do, then your file is voided and you must return a different day. I had to complete a drug screen for pre employment and came to the site prepared (needing to pee). I can hold my bladder well, but 3 hours is impossible for anyone. There is 1 tech seeing 18 people, I timed it, and it came out to 10 minutes a person, (180 minutes/3 hours). At the end I was in immense the pain. When the technician called my name (after 3 hours) he said my access code expired. Total BS. If he says that to you, its a lie, and does not exists. I called my HR department and they had no idea what that meant. WARNING:If you see a grumpy bald man as your tech run for your life. He is both verbally and physically abuse. I hope Quest will hire better in the future. I now have a bladder infection from holding my pee in for so long. I wish I could go lower than 1 star. Prison medical treatment is better than this. read more

Well first of all, trying to find the office is a mission in itself. If you park in the garage (which you will because you'd have to be the luckiest person in the world to find a spot on the street) there is no one to even ask where to go. The map was confusing...at least it was to me; there were only room numbers without floors. After awhile I figure out that the floor is actually incorporated in the room number. For example, Quest- 1126, insinuating that it's the 11th floor room 1126...I mean I guess that makes since but what if I didn't meet those nice women in the elevator that helped me out? Anyway, the woman who came out to get me and then take my blood was very rude. She lost the attachment of my insurance card and acted like she didn't care, she had an attitude the entire time and I just felt like she didn't want to be there. She was horrible and she should have just went home if she didn't want to be there. read more

As a Kaiser patient, I am used to busy labs that get patients in and out. On the off chance the kaiser lab is empty , it literally takes 2 minutes to have a draw done. I arrived at Quest at 7:25. There were two people ahead of me, no one at reception. At 7:40 someone had me write my name down. 40 minutes later, I am still waiting. This level of inefficiency is ridiculous. If it wasn't for the clinical trial I am on, there is no way I would come here. read more

Impossible to get a live person on the phone. Went here for drug screening required for a new job. Phone and website say hours when screening is done, but these hours are incorrect. Staff in office are apathetic. Got the feeling everyone here hates their job. Avoid this place if possible. read more

Okay, taking a drug test for a job is something you *need* to do, so I wouldn't exactly consider myself a "customer" here. Their "service" is okay, as long as you don't call them on the phone. Pretty nice in person, and they gave me a bunch of water and let me sit around and read magazines until I could pee in a cup. Horrible. Unprofessional during a drug screen. The software was not working and the worker was laughing and trying to make light of it. Drug screens are no fun even when you know you have nothing to worry about and I did not appreciate the woman's unprofessional and inconsiderate behavior. She almost forgot to give me my id back and made me sit 15 minutes after signing and then said "oh you can go." Well thanks for wasting my time. And they gave me no information about when I would get my results back. Nothing. And now I am trying to call and there is no reception, only a phone directory. read more

Tried canceling an appointment via the auto phone system. Impossible to do. Can't get to a live human being. Lousy phone service.

Unfortunately they are the only game in town. Both Unilab and Quest are one in the same. This review is about billing and customer service over the phone. I had no problems and was quite satisfied in person at the lab. Medicare requires certain diagnosis codes to pay for certain lab tests and my doctor evidently put the wrong one on the requisition. I called medicare and then the lab. On the first call to the lab they told me to call me my doctor and the call was courteous and helpful. I then called my doctor who asked me to have Unilab ot Quest fax them a form to fill out. The next day I called Quest or Unilab back to ask them to fax a form to my doctor and the first thing out of her mouth after identifying myself was a petulant "we told you yesterday blah, blah,blah "before I even asked her politely to send a fax. When I asked her to fax my doctor she said she might not be able to but then promptly did. I know she may be having a bad day but despite having made multiple phone calls to many medical personal I was courteous. As I said they are the only game in town other than Kaiser. read more
