A hidden gem in the wilds. The consistent 5 star review forced me to visit this place. From the outside, it looked like any other restaurant. Given that there were only a handful of customers, we were a bit hesitant to go in. However, we had already decided, so we thought of just giving it a try.. This is a rare place. First, they are all so so warm, friendly and helpful. Superb service. We sat outside - like sitting in a home backyard on a summers night enjoying great food. (The inside of the restaurant is tastefully elegant for a small restaurant). Shirley, the owner, had Peruvian music playing and a projector showing slides of Peru on the adjoins building's brick wall. Just added to the Peruvian flavor of the night. It is hard to get good ceviche but this is the best I've have in years. Plus, many times when you ask for spicey, it isn't. This was excellently done! Then, a potato "pastry" if you will, filled with olives, meat, onions.....marvelous. For an entree, a trout special with a wonderful almost Peruvian "pico de gallo" but they mastered the use of lime in their cooking. Just excellent. For dessert, a Peruvian fruit flavored ice cream and Peruvian coffee - distinctly different. Just a special meal in a special place and you just cannot help but fall in love with the team. So I've been here twice more in two weeks when traveling for business. The owner remembers EXACTLY what I've had and has twice made super recommendations based upon my palate. I had the mussels appetizer that is out of sight and a couple of the seafood dishes (cooked, not ceviche). Everything is top notch. I'd be here every week if I lived in this area. Delicious Peruvian food and desserts. Been here a couple times and always have a great experience.

While we typically order takeout here the ambiance of the restaurant is great - particularly the outdoors section. Waiters are very nice and make you feel at home. When we order out we usually get the same thing (fried rice with either chicken or shrimp with a side of empanadas) and they always remember us. Their seasoning and sauce is delicious - especially for those who like a little spice to their meals. A little pricy at times but still worth it! Definitely a hidden treasure in Harrison. read more

Really good Peruvian food, ceviche and great pisco sours and sangrita, and friendly staff. We've been here a couple of times and it has been consistently very good. Shirley who runs the restaurant is friendly and efficient. In summer they have a great outdoor area and in winter a cozy indoor room decorated tastefully. Choros a la Chalaca was good , papa a la huanacaina was average, another at our table raved about the chupe de Camaron, and Pescado in salsa de camarones as being excellent, we had to wait so long ..got there 7 pm got my entree 815- ordered tallarines verdes w steak...not that good , sauce was too soupy lacked the cheese flavoring in the sauce and was salty....Aquario in Port Chester so much better.... read more

Went to this place with a group of 5 on Sunday night. Three of the people in my party had traveled to Peru and were familiar with the cuisine. The food was a big hit. The seafood dishes were the most enjoyed. I had the salmon special with seafood on top. The salmon was cooked perfectly and in a very delicious sauce that was spicy, yet had a light cream to it. It was piled with a generous portion of octopus, shrimp, clams, and mussels. All the seafood was fresh and well cooked. Loved it! Our waitress was lovely and attentive. The dessert we had was a traditional fried doughnut with honey and lucama ice cream. Although we were all so full we practically fought over the again generous portions of this dish. (We ordered two servings for 5 and this was enough, but sooo good!) The atmosphere is charming. White table-clothes, candles, and we enjoyed the Peruvian slide show in the background and my guests reminisced about their travels. But it is not formal, you could go casually dressed. We sat for a couple hours and visited, but we were the only ones in the restaurant the entire time. I hope they are busier on other nights and this gem stays open. read more

******2.5 Stars****** Wonderful atmosphere in the backyard. Tasty food. So why 2.5 stars, you ask? It was because of the service. Specifically, we arrived excited to have found the place, and mentioned we found it on yelp. So it would have been nice if the waitress mentioned that the yelp deal couldn't be used on Saturdays. Because we went ahead and bought it...our mistake...but when we pleaded with the waitress for something, she just stonewalled us. Similarly, they offer a free glass of sangria with the purchase of any entree. But again it's only during the week?? Come on...you guys run a 20 percent off early bird special on Saturdays, you could at least be nice to us on one of these things. Lastly, this place doesn't take AmEx. If you're going to charge $15 for aji de galena, $20 for ceviche, and $8 bucks for a mediocre glass of sangria...at least be nice to your customers. Show some empathy. I know profit margins are low in the restaurant industry, but you make more profits by treating people well and encouraging them to return. I will not be returning and neither should you. read more

This place just opened up...dinner last night was great. The menu has lots of seafood dishes. The food was very fresh, the portions were large and the food was hearty. I will definitely return! Our party ordered the mussels appetizer, pollo a la brasa, shrimp soup and another seafood entree. For dessert, Peruvian rice pudding with a really good purple potato jam on top. Not too sweet, just the way I like it! The place literally just opened up so they don't have alcohol (yet) and service was a little slow at times.But I look forward to returning! read more

My husband and I ate our very first Peruvian dinner at Quenas Restaurant this evening, and we were completely 'wowed' by the entire experience. We arrived for our 7:00pm reservation, and were greeted so warmly by the serving staff. We knew we had no experience ordering in a Peruvian establishment, but we went with our instincts and their kind suggestions. We began with a pitcher of their delightfully flavorful red sangria, and from there we shared an appetizer of 'papa rellena', which was a fantastic white potato dough stuffed with meat, hard boiled egg and olives. FANTASTIC! We loved its savory deliciousness and artistically placed onion salad atop its form. We then ordered a special of a grilled trout dish, stuffed with an onion salad and adorned with yucca fries.....wonderful! We also had ordered, from the menu, a dish called 'pescado sudado', a steamed flounder filet enhanced with Peruvian Andean herbs, onions, tomatoes, peppers, and Peruvian corn with rice. Delightful! We're thankful for this first exposure to Peruvian food and also visually appreciated a series of looping videos that appeared on a wall at the back of the restaurant, of images of Peru. They were intriguing and irresistible to watch, prompting us to feel that we should visit the magical country of Peru......compelling, to say the least. What a delicious evening!! read more

This is such a great family owned restaurant with authentic Peruvian food! The waitresses are friendly and on top of everything and the seating is great, especially their outdoor seating! The food is very traditional and delicious. I don't eat seafood so I stick with their chicken and beef dishes, and they have been great every time.
