Quemar has been on my list for a while since it's right down the street from my office, but since they aren't open for lunch, I never got around to trying it until recently. My husband, best friend, and I went during happy hour, and I was impressed by how many items were on the menu. We started with the chips and guac (even my guac-hating husband liked it!) and the wings with the server's recommendation of blueberry BBQ sauce. It sounds unusual, but it was SO good. They only have chipotle blue cheese for dipping, and as someone who isn't a big blue cheese fan, I was surprised by how much I liked it. All three of us ordered the smashburger and fries from the happy hour menu for $12. This was a true smashburger with thin patties with crispy edges, not the thicker burgers a lot of places try to pass off as one. I've been thinking about it ever since. I'll definitely be back, especially since happy hour is extended until 7 p.m. on Thursdays. Next time, I want more wings and to try the tacos. Great atmosphere for a date night or girls' night out!
Second time here. The atmosphere is super loud and fun. They have a DJ in the bar area at some point in the evening. The staff were great. Our server Toni sang my son a B-Day song for his 21st! The food was amazing. I actually filled up on all the apps and couldn't finish my steak. Tonight perhaps! Enjoy!
There is valet parking but not needed for a Wednesday night as there weren't many people there. Overall, I'd probably rate it a 3. The place looks good for a date night but food wasn't anything special for me to come back so I probably won't try this place out again. Carne asada tacos were ok. It came with 3 tacos à la cart, corn tortillas were super dry & overall was lacking flavor. Definitely need some lime and salsa to make it taste better. Fire grilled wings are on their Wednesday special, they were also ok. Ordered rice, beans & chips on the side and those were also just ok. Didn't care for the rice to be honest. Both could've used some salt.
The ambience and vibes were great, we loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. The food was good, lots of flavor which we appreciated. However, nothing came out hot, all of our food was lukewarm. We had ordered an appetizer that sadly didn't come, but was taken off the bill. I think the burrito should have came with a side, or chips and salsa should come to the table to start. Definitely needed a little side. I think this place would be fun with a big group! Again, the vibes are a 5/5. Food is a 3/5. All of the drinks looked great!
I love this place. We have been here numerous times, me and my friend's favorite spots to eat. We went for there Dias de los muertos Party, it was perfect . The seating was a little off especially because I had a reservation. The Manager is awesome he always tries to accommodate us. One of my go to dishes here , the short rib burrito !!!! We tried the loaded yuca , this was also pretty good. I also tried their Halloween inspired drinks, The Green Lantern. Perfect balance of sweet and sour. The Cadillac margarita is also a nice choice. The staff is very welcoming and awesome to work with. They always have the best party events, so check them out if you haven't yet. A plus is that they have complimentary valet thurs - sat.
Absolutely amazing experience at Quemar. Our server was very knowledgeable and recommended great dishes. From the starters, to the meals, to the dessert. I could not rave about this place enough. My group had the guacamole and tuna tostada to start. Both were very well curated dishes. We also enjoyed the different variations of steak and the chicken tinga. I am not one to order a chicken dish out at a restaurant, but oh. my. gosh. It was phenomenal. HIGHLY recommend. And last but not least, the dessert. I have never had a better slice of chocolate cake. Melt in your mouth. Everything about this restaurant is top tier.
Our server Toni was nice and welcoming. She made sure we were taken care of, it was a party of 10+. The loaded yuca was the best for a starter. My fave was the rib eye burrito. The serving was big I couldn't finish it all! It was sooo tasty! Can't wait to come back
Love the vibes here. It gives off simple date night, but intimate. Catching up with old friends, and classy. Winding down for happy hour, but a for sure spot. The waitress was nice and friendly. Food came fast.
Quemar is an Upscale, Fine Dining Cocina. Great Ambiance and decor. Nice lounge area. Plan to come and enjoy good food, company, and entertainment. Ibhad the oysters. They were fresh as if they were just harvested from the ocean. The fish tacos were very tasty. The ARRACHERA (BEEF SKIRT) were over the top. Nice flavors with the medium-rare cook i requested. Host and servers were great. Quemar is not just god food and time, it is truly a Vibe. You want to check this place out if you are in the area.
Private event in the "Tranquilo Lounge" (right side of establishment). Cozy, spacious spot for group of 30 people to chill and converse over apps and very good artisan adult bevs from the bar in that space. My Estilo viejo was an innovative take on a Smokey old fashion (5/5 stars). It was rivaled in overall quality and experience by the Puesta del sol, like a sweet spicy strawberry/jalepeno margarita. I heard the tacos were good -- they were gone as soon as they dropped -- but I can attest the wings were large, juicy, and flavorful. A few HDTVs were showing ESPN channels which was cool.
My husband and I tried Quemar (finally!) and man this place did not disappoint. The atmosphere was super elegant and I felt slightly underdressed when I walked in lol, the environment was kind of fancy and nice. I would wear a little nicer than casual clothes. They also only do valet parking so keep some cash on you as well. Our service was amazing, our server was very attentive to details like our allergies and accommodations. She was super bubbly and checked on us often but not too overbearing. Our food was sooo good I definitely am already planning my return lol. We started with the Salsa Roja and I don't like spicy too much so this level was perfect for me. Surprisingly didn't cause acid reflux which is typical for me haha. The Esquites was really good! I kind of wish it came with chips, I enjoyed it with chips but it was good by itself too. I wasn't able to try the guacamole with tuna or the yuca fries but my friends said it was delicious. I myself tried the fish tacos and they were one of my favorite fish tacos! I tried some of my husbands steak and man, the steak was great but the chimichurri was the star! It was so refreshing and packed with flavor. The smell is what actually made me take a bite off his plate! I'd honestly go back just for that lol! We ended the night with the Peruvian Chocolate Cake and it was the perfectly balanced dessert. I also had a bite of the Nutella cheesecake and the ice cream and that was scrumptious as well. All in all I'd love to go back and try everything else because nothing I had disappointed and exceeded my expectations!
Went here tonight for my wife's birthday as she really wanted to try it. Valet was nice although I'm not sure it was necessary on a Wed night. We went in and were seated and after about 20 min of waiting I had to ask the door person if we could have a server to which she responded, "oh". Hit some buttons and then we got a waiter a few min later. Appetizers were very good, but the main courses varied wildly. My filet was overcooked the mashed potatoes were very bland. My wife liked the fish she got. When we were done, our waiter grabbed some plates and a fork fell almost hitting my son. He apologized and then picked up another plate and dropped a butter knife on him staining his shirt. They did comp an appetizer for the wait without me saying anything. Maybe it was just an off night but I doubt I will go back with so many other choices in the area.
I came to Quemar with some girlfriends for a birthday dinner over the weekend, and it was fantastic. When you walk in, it's such a vibe. To the right there is a separate bar area, which later on had a DJ. The restaurant is so spacious, with a large bar and plenty of seating for large parties. We all started with a some cocktails. A few of us went for the cold brew martini, one got a strawberry margarita and another friend had the Paloma. I loved that the espresso martini wasn't creamy! 9/10. Majority of their menu is small plates and tapas, which is honestly great when it's a large group of girls who are indecisive! We ordered the chips and salsa with the salsa roja (not too mild, not too spicy). From there, we ordered the charred Brussels sprouts that are topped with ancho sweet potato purée, maple-dijon vinaigrette, pepitas and goat cheese. SO good. Highly recommend if you are a fan of Brussels. We then ordered some oysters, which were served with lime and a cilantro oil. I'm not a huge oyster fan, but the girls enjoyed. Now for my favorite - the fish tacos. They are topped with burnt orange & chile slaw, baja sauce and salsa roja. There's a little kick to them but they were phenomenal. A close second was the carne asada tacos, topped with ancho-coffee rub, chile crema, avocado-cucumber relish and pickled onions. Quemar definitely is a spot for flavor. Every bite of every dish was so flavorful, it would be hard to find something you don't enjoy. The service was 10/10. Any questions we had were asked which such detail. I look forward to returning!
i had a very enjoyable experience at Quemar. when we pulled up , we were greeted by valet . walked into into the building , and when i say the ambiance was giving everything that needed to be given . on your right when you walk in , there's a lounge type feel with velvet sofas , a smaller bar, and beautiful lighting . then , on the left , it's the restaurant with a larger bar . they also have seating outside , one part geared toward dining and the other part more loungey . okay , now about the food . i'm going to start off by saying our waiter , Toni, was awesome . very personable . she also gave us a very detailed explanation about the restaurant and menu . we were there during happy hour . i ordered the chicken al pastor tacos and margarita , and my guy ordered the smash burger with loaded yuca fritas . let me start off by saying ? those tacos didn't stand a chance . they were delicious . and i got a lil bite of the smash burger , cooked to perfection . it was my first time having any type of yuca , and after eating the yuca fritas ... it won't be my last . i did end it off on a sweet note , and ordered the tres leches. it came with ice cream and was topped off with strawberries. not gonna lie , i could've done without the ice cream . but the tres leches itself was delicious. long story short , i'll be back . read more

Yes yes yes! Loved it here. The place is very clean and the service is incredibly friendly. When we arrived valet took over and politely took our vehicle. The hostess was prompt and greeted us with a smile. One side of the restaurant looked like a bar area while the other appeared as an upscale restaurant. Ambient lighting and nice booths. Our waitress Lindsay was fantastic. She was quick, nice, and had some small talk banter with us about the area as we are less familiar with Virginia Beach. The food was great. As an appetizer we had oysters. Main dish I had Arroz Con Pollo, while my date had a Beef bone in Ribeye with the carrots. All was phenomenal. We also enjoyed a strawberry margarita and a Paloma for drinks. Pricing was cheaper than expected. All around this place was a great find. We will be back for sure. read more

We made it back fir a second visit and ordered the ribeye for 2. Delicious but not so big that I think it needs to be advertised as "for 2." We tried a new menu item, the burrito- great choice! We also enjoyed the empanadas. read more

Having moved to VA, I wanted to find restaurants that I enjoyed back home. And I found my Pazo..Quemar, is it!! Our server explained that it means burn .. started with spicy margarita delish..well, needed cocktail on a Friday. Our server was excellent.. explained the dishes.. the ceviche melt in your mouth.. the salsa had a smoky taste, which was such a delicious surprise. We ordered dinner, which was an assortment of different dishes. Everyone's dishes were delectable. The ambiance of Quemar reminds me of the City Night with great food, great music, and service. Definitely will venture back for dinner and the late night atmosphere. It's just a very classy and chic restaurant. @lynettedujour read more

Had an amazing time celebrating my anniversary here recently. The ambiance is beautiful and the food and drinks were absolutely spectacular. My husband and I haven't stopped talking about the grilled carrots with raisin gastrique, arugula almond pesto and almond puree.. a combo I never knew I needed to try. The menu is extremely thought-out and carefully curated I highly recommend stopping here for a meal. read more

Can out for an early dinner with my daughter. Service was decent, customer service isn't what it use to be. Attentiveness upon arrival was lacking. Food was very tasty and flavorful. Margarita was on point. Will definitely try again and experience the lounge area. read more

Absolutely loved the ambiance here!! And Bar Tranquilo (attached to it) is such a vibe! Happy to see spots like this in Virginia Beach. I tried the manchego, red onion, and potato empanadas which were delicious! I also tried the loaded yuca frita which were also amazing! The cheese and squash enchiladas were good but I wish they were more flavorful. Overall a great experience and can't wait to return and try more of the menu! read more

Absolutely loved the food here!! A little bit of a drive for me, but because of the event and food it was well worth it. I only had an chance to experience the lounge area, and that itself was great! Live music from a great singer, fair amount of places to sit, awesome staff provide amazing service. I will say, I wasn't too fond of their parking situation. Great restaurant, but a small lot that you'll have to valet. So, if or when you come, best to carpool. Other than that come with an appetite because the food is some of the best. read more
This was my first time here & I absolutely loved everything, the ambiance, service, drinks & food were all amazing. The tacos I ordered were so good & the burger my friend had was juicy and full of flavor. The fries crispy & soft at the same time. Everything was literally amazing. We even stopped by the bar area & had a drink. I will definitely be coming back here! Very cute place for a dinner date. read more
Such a cute freaking place. We couldn't get a reservation so we sat in the lounge area which was really cozy with velvet couches, velvet chairs and a big round table in the middle. Honestly I'd rather eat in the lounge next time. We ordered a bunch of drinks. I got cava while everyone else ordered fancy drinks. And then we got empanadas and tacos for food. The food was delicious and the staff was attentive and friendly. The décor throughout the restaurant was amazing too. Even in the bathroom, they had fancy wallpaper and a lit candle. It was nice. I can't wait to come back here. read more

I have visited Quemar on 2 occasions and both did not disappoint. The atmosphere is low lit giving a romantic date night or fancy birthday dinner vibe. They have an extensive list of the most authentic food and tequila. I highly recommend the Lalo tequila, Yuca Frita, and Arroz Con Pollo. read more

Had a reservation for an anniversary dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our meal, drinks and dessert. The ambience feels more date night or girls night, in my opinion. The Paloma was great! My fiancé and I both enjoyed our entrees and were most excited about dessert (tres leches) which was absolutely delicious. Our server was so kind and gave me so many great recommendations when I asked for them! Will definitely be back in the future. read more
This place is an the top of my list. We arrived to valet. What makes it better is valet is tip based only! The hostess was so accommodating finding room for us on the screen in patio as we had a big party. The food was fresh authentic and delicious. The ambiance was amazing. All of the customer service was top tier. The drinks was phenomenal. There was even a DJ on the other side which was a nice way to end the night. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the dance floor was non existent. Definitely recommend read more

Are you looking for an experience to remember? Well, friends, Quemar is the place to go. First, phenomenal hospitality. I would suggest going to the bar and ordering from Cassidy. She will guide you to a surprise cocktail. I asked for the Chef's table and our server was Toni. She made the experience very enjoyable. Additionally, I could not decide what to order. So, my friends and I ordered a little of everything. Drinks were well balanced and I ordered mezcal margaritas. Enjoy the food pics. Ask for the Chef's table (if you have a party of 6). The Chef's table adds to the food journey experience. This place has a great vibe and an incredible atmosphere. After the restaurant shuts down, the other side turns into a music lounge. read more

The ambiance was amazing! The food was fantastic! Drinks were good. We ate outside and the app was... in need of some work. The valet was superfluous. Oysters had this amazing cilantro oil. Went to Quemar for the first time. Definitely on my go back list. I'm not the type to keep going to the same place because I like to try other places. The vibe here didn't feel like Virginia Beach. Definitely my style. All the food was very flavorful. I kept ordering more just to try more. Those chicken tacos though. VERY GOOD. 3 will most likely not fill you up though. read more

I had high expectations from this place just from the social media marketing. It definitely seemed like a vibe and the food looked delicious! I went on a Wednesday night, it's very nice inside, chill vibe and comfortable atmosphere. What I didn't like was the food. We ordered guacamole, oysters, airline chicken and short rib burrito. The guacamole was off..It was missing something, my friend said maybe jalapeños. The oysters were ok, nothing spectacular about them. The airline chicken included street corn and a salsa. I expected the street corn to be on a cob but it was not, the salsa was more like a purée and the chicken was dry. My friend wasn't very impressed with the burrito. If I go back, I'll go strictly for the night life and drinks. They have a cool lounge area that would be a nice date night....minus the food. read more

My second time at Quemar on a Saturday night of Valentine's Day weekend. My party of 8 had a reservation at 7:30pm but due to a hectic and super busy night we were not seated until close to 8:30pm. Appertizers were offered to my party for the inconvenience. We ordered the oysters which were melt in your mouth amazing. Yuca fries, brussel sprouts, nachos dip and empanadas were ok. For my main course I had the Chicken Supreme. It was dry and bland. You'll need to add a lot of Chimichurri for flavor. The atmosphere is nice therefore my friends and I gave it a try but food is less to be desired. read more
I drive past this place every day and have never stopped. So glad I went to the 1st Thursday Ladies Night. You walk in and you can feel the vibe and ambience right away. The place is beautiful inside. We sat in the lounge area on comfy couches and chairs. They have really cute seating areas and it's all low light. Great place for a romantic date night. I ordered from the happy hour menu. They have several different types of margaritas, I had the cucumber and then a jalapeno and then I had them combined. All delicious with a Tajin rim. We ordered the guacamole and it was delicious and fresh. We also ordered the Totopos which is pretty much nachos and they were also delicious but the chips weren't super crunchy like our nachos because they have enchilada sauce on them. We had wonderful service by Lydia. It is a little pricy and not somewhere you would go every week but definitely worth a stop for happy hour or a nice dinner date. They had valet parking so be prepared with some cash. Anthony took good care of my Jeep and was very nice. Even the bathroom was nicely decorated and very clean. I will definitely be back with more friends for another ladies night or happy hour. read more

Love the dark and moody vibe of the interior. We went for their happy hour on a Friday and were pleasantly surprised it was not overly packed. We were able to get seats at the bar and our bartender was initially attentive. The happy hour prices are great and I appreciated there were options beyond tequila drinks. The wine choices were limited. And as the evening progressed the service on the lounge side was nonexistent. We switched over to the restaurant side and enjoyed our meals. I had the smash burger and it was nice and juicy. I'll definitely return and try more off their menu. read more
