I would give this place negative stars if I could. My cousins and I came here the other day, and I'm 9 months pregnant with my mom in critical condition in ICU. I kindly asked if I could sit in the massage chair next to my cousins while I got a shellac manicure. The lady told me I absolutely could not because I wasn't getting a pedicure. I was confused because when I get a mani/pedi, they do my nails right at the massage chair, so I asked if I could Maybe just soak my feet and get a little massage, and that I'd pay extra. I just didn't actually need my toes "done" because I just had a shellac pedicure not even two weeks ago and all of that was still good. The lady was incredibly rude about it and straight up refused. I had them take the shellac off my hands, and my cousins and I went down the street to VIP nails where they had no problem letting my big, pregnant butt sit in a massage chair to get a little pampering. Oh, let me mention that we were the ONLY customers at Queen Nails, and that they would rather have us walk out than honor my simple request. This is the only bad review I have ever left, and trust me, I was not rude in my request. I was stressed, I'm due in two weeks, and my back hurt because I had been staying with my mother in ICU for days and wanted to sit in a massage chair, which they made clear they could do if I were getting a mani/pedi but couldn't get a "partial pedicure" just ignoring my toes. I came across Don's page on instagram and thought his work was awesome, so i was super excited to set an appointment to get my nails done by them. I paid the 25 dollar deposit on Venmo (thought it was odd because i never did that for any nail techs I've gone to in the past but I understand). As we started talking about the design I wanted, I asked how much it would be. He gave me an estimate from about $125+. I then told him I would just get the design on two nails instead of all and a pedicure the same day. I also inquired about the safety measures they would take due to corona. Again, I couldn't get a straightforward answer on pricing and it seemed very odd to me because as a flight attendant, I have gotten my nails done in different cities and have always had a very smooth process for booking appointments and the prices were always told to me upfront. Additionally, he told me that they would only accept cash, but with an ATM (withdrawal fees). So that really confused me because the hassle of withdrawing a bunch of cash yet not knowing how much the total cost would be just seemed shady. At this point, I asked him since he didn't know the total price, if I could Venmo the money just as I did with my deposit. He refused and proceeded to tell me that my appointment was canceled and he would send me my deposit back but that they would be happy to work with me on the situation. This was super contradictory because he didn't work with me at all. If I had gotten a straightforward answer about the pricing, there wouldn't have ever been an issue. All of the technicians I have worked with have always let me know the prices beforehand and they were usually fixed prices. But the attitude I got, the weird back and forth, and the abrupt cancellation of my appointment was baffling to me. It's unfortunate because I really loved his work and was excited to get my nails done with him, but we never got to that point because of the negative and DIFFICULT experience of simply setting an appointment. I hope they come to improve their communication with clients and customer service skills. read more

The first time that I went I got a deluxe pedicure and a new full set of acrylics. I loved the pedicure! It was definitely more pampering than the pedis that I was getting at my old place. Now, to be completely honest, I wasn't too impressed with my nails. I had chosen to get shellac. One technician put the acrylic on and shaped my nails. Then, without telling me what was going on, the technician that did my pedi, came to polish my nails. She layered three coats of the polish which is probably why my nails felt so thick. I would have appreciated if the same tech that started my nails would have finished them. Instead she moved on to another customer. Also, I was told that it was $3 extra for the shape that I wanted. I thought that it would be $3 added on, but at checkout I was told that it was $3 extra per nail. I ended up paying $60 for a set that I didn't completely love. They were just ok. I should've spoke up, but I was too shy to do so. I decided to give this place a second chance, so I went in for a refill. I was helped by the manager Quinn. Now, I have to say that she did an amazing job! She made my nails look so nice! We had a nice conversation. She let me know that she values customers. She told me to speak up when I don't like something because I'm paying. She just said that the way you do it is what matters, and I couldn't agree more. I've been to several nail shops in Houston and generally, have not had a good experience. So I took it to yelp. Via Yelp, I was able to find Queen Nails. Thanks to my fellow yelpers! I got a gel manicure. Nick & Don were both excellent! Friendly, attentive, and professional. I was told that the gel polish should last at least 2 weeks. They even have a 14 day guarantee - basically, if your polish becomes chipped or dull, they will fix it for you...free of charge. I was skeptical that my polish would last this long, but I was wrong!
