I went for a pedicure. The guy that did my pedicure was awful. He didn't talk, just would tap my leg. Then he was trimming my nails and dug in the side so hard and deep on my big toes that they bled! I flinched several times and he didn't even apologize. Just kept digging! My left big toe is still bleeding, sore and red! And it's been 5 days!!!!!!! This was a horrible experience & if I lived closer-I live in the mountains & I'm an hour and a half away-I'd go demand my money back. He was a rude little man and I know he speaks English because I heard him talking to someone else. So no excuse for his extremely bad attitude and poor customer service. We I just dropped off my wife and daughter at this establishment and with in the hour my wife was having to argue with the female worker, probably the owners daughter.... This worker who was totally dominant just did what she wanted without asking my daughter what she wanted. As my daughter began to tell her she didn't like certain aspects of what she was doing the worker ignored her and kept working. Using non verbals between mother and daughter, my wife got involved. The worker continued to be rude, defensive about how busy they have been, and how tired she was, etc... My wife's nails look good the older gentlemen did a great job and was professional, and that's why the rating is a one. When the male Technician dumps your cuticles he just cut on your lap in front of other customers and told you to take better care of your hands then does a horrible job of painting your nails and toes and laughs when you're done and throws you your shoes and says if I keep coming there he will quit now I'm not a problem I was having fun talking to other customers I don't know if he has issues with cuticle skin which is absolutely normal. This guy is in the wrong profession and very rude and I will never return and very sorry that I ever tip them. The older man who did my nails was nice and friendly, it seemed clean and looked cute inside the shop, my nails ended up pretty cute from afar but close up they look rough, not to mention he was so extremely rough while filing my nails that 4 of my fingers have bloody uneven cuticles that keep bleeding and are swollen 3 days later. A good place for once in a while nails or if upon your return appointment you have no chips or damage. She usually has 2-3 clients at the same time and she rotates you as she works on the others so you end up waiting with your nails partially completed. She is more focused on how many clients she can get vs customer service. She would scold me in front of others if my nails were chipped because she would have to repair them which cut into her time. She made sure I was on time but then she would be running behind and either start on my nails late or her mom would have to help. I left because I got tired of being scolded. I called and made an appointment for a mani/pedi with gel and a full set of acrylics. I asked if they had "chrome" colors, and if they could soak them off, the woman said yes. Upon arriving I was greeted and asked to take a seat which I did. I ask for the "gel" colors, and they handed me 2 very beat up plastic rings that had acrylic nails glued to them displaying the color. Granted, most nail salons do this, the nail polish colors were limited and some were chipping. Overall, it looked like it had seen better days. I was pretty desperate for an appointment, my nails needed to be redone and most the salons I called , weren't taking appointments, so I decided to just pick a color that they had, none of which were chrome. I sit in my chair and notice how DIRTY it was. Everything. The UV lights for drying was speckled with previous customers colors. I know it's bound to happen, but I've never seen the lack of care I saw at this establishment. First off, the woman pulls out a drill that looks like it's already been used. I am not a nail technician, so I decide .."maybe the powder on the drill appeared when she pulled it out.. which is very possible considering the layer of dust or nail remnants on everything. I looked around and noticed it's pretty much the same at every station... I start to get very nervous. I don't like to complain, not even on yelp but ... this was BAD I inform the tech that I'd like HER to please not drill because I had the set on longer than usual and I frequently get acrylic nails/gel my nails can't take drilling, especially if they don't know what they're doing. The technician tells me soaking will take a very very long time. I said it's ok (meaning I don't mind how long it would take to soak), but then pulls out a metal metal ramekin like you would use for ketchup, and puts my fingers in.... unusual, but ok, I go with it. She says she will be back, and about 15mins later comes back and starts drilling. Problem is, the nail itself, was the length on my natural nails which were already long underneath. She then cuts the nails all the way to the skin with jagged, angled cuts around the cuticles, any shorter and I was sure they'd grow back ingrown. They then asked if I wanted to soak with pedi, but after watching the way the tubs were uncleaned after other customers, I politely declined. The technician then gets a bigger bowl and fills it full of acetone then submerged my entire hand... I left immediately. Never again. read more

Absolute worst 2 manicures (in one day and place) I've ever had. After convincing me to get gel nails and then doing a terrible job I asked if they could take it off and do a French manicure instead. I even had two different manicurists and they both did a bad job. Then one of them continued to argue with me about it instead of doing a good job, trying to fix the situation or giving me a discount. Also, the salon was run down and dirty. They were unprofessional when I called to make an appointment and were unprofessional during our appointment. My friends and I went as part of a bachelorette and they were also very dissatisfied. Okayyyyy so I was searching all over to find a good nail place while my regular lady was out of town. I had heard the main lady at queen nails was really good so I went there. Little did I know the main lady was appointment only. So I got stuck with a guy that didn't give a care in the world. I asked for a simple grey coffin nail, with a black outlining then. The style is trending and he said he could do it no problem, so I had no doubt in them. They're horrible. he cut me on every cuticle on my left hand. They're lumpy, the lines aren't anywhere near straight, they're thick. I'm half tempted to go to another salon in the same day to get them redone. I came here to get a fill and one of the guys working completely and utterly destroyed my nails. I told him I wanted stiletto and he gave me the worse fill i've ever gotten. Does the photo I attached look like stiletto to you? The only reason i'm giving them one star is because one of the girls fixed my nails. She started looking at them and realized how bad they were, and had to start shaping them with freeforms. they were still awful afterwards. I only came here because my usual salon was closed. I was looking specifically for someone in Redding that would be able to do a beautiful job artistically, and you can tell An has a passion for it, and it showed the whole time I was in her chair. She knew many customers by name, which is rare for busy salons, and in the meantime intentionally made great conversation with me and genuinely wanted to get to know me. Her artistic talent was up to date, and very in style, which is what I was going for. I've had my beautiful acrylic set on for 1 day and I have received countless compliments just today alone. Worst experience of my life. I'm from The SF area and came into town and needed my nails done. The lady doing my nails was chewing and popping her gum so loud that she literally was spitting on me. I tried to ask her to stop, but she clearly didn't understand me. She said ok, and just keep popping away. Then, the paint job was so horrible, I asked her to fix them twice. Even after the second time, they looked so bad that I will have to go home and redo them. I have a job tomorrow where the appearance of my nails is pretty important, my hands and feet look like my 5 year old painted them. As I was leaving and about to pay, I was visibly upset, so the owner asked me 3 or 4 times what was wrong with my nails... not quietly in a polite manner, but with a crazy loud voice so the whole salon could hear. When I told her, she laughed at me, and basically mocked me and said "oh yea, she spit on you? How in appropriate." I was trying to speak quietly because I hate confrontation, but she was yelling for the whole salon to hear. She claimed that I "came at her" and that's why she was rude and laughing at me, in front of everyone. As an owner of a business, when someone has a complain, listen to them and help make it right. You don't yell, laugh, and mock your customers in front of your entire salon. How embarrassing. I literally have never been so upset after something that is supposed to be relaxing. I had an appointment and showed up 5-10 minutes early to make sure they got me in for my appointment time. One nail tech drilled my nails and went to do someone else's nails so I sat there for about 25-30 minutes just waiting. Then he came back and glued tips to my nails for acrylics and drilled, the properly got up and proceeded to work on someone else again. It was 45+ minutes after my appointment time that a different nail take came and did my nails. I came with a reference photo and they ended up not looking much like it. I was told over halfway through that the nail length I chose (slightly shorter than the photo) we're almost too short to do the ombré glitter look I wanted on clear acrylic. By the time I was getting polish and getting my nails cured, they were way shorter than my chosen length, my skin was patchy and shredded a bit due to the roughness of the filer, some are crooked and shorter/longer than others, and I had been there two hours at this point. Two hours...everyone that has walked in before me and at the same time as me were long gone. The nails aren't terrible, but they weren't what I wanted and I was sat just waiting for half the time I was there, even though I had an appointment and they weren't super busy. They were nice, and Edward the dog was absolutely adorable, but I don't believe I'll be going back. Just a heads up. read more

Let me start by saying I am a licensed cosmetologist and am currently working in the industry, so I have been trained to know what a good nail visit should look and feel like. I use yelp quite a bit to find good establishments since I am new to the area . However, this will be the first review I have ever written because my experience at Queen Nails was so disappointing. I called and got an appointment, the over the phone customer service was lacking, but I overlooked it and came in for my appointment anyways because I figured it couldn't be that bad due to their 4-star rating. I walked in, was abruptly told to pick a color, and be seated. After 10 minutes of waiting I was told to sit at a station that was pointed to from across the room from the nail tech "Lee" who is Ann's dad from what I gathered. Before the service was started Mentioned that I have very sensitive cuticles and nail bed so please be careful not to cut me. He nodded quickly and proceeded. He was in a rush, not too friendly, and barely spoke to me. He was extremely rough with his drill and his filing as well. I was cringing the whole time because it was so painful and my cuticles were bleeding. I paid, even left a tip and went about my day. I went home removed the polish so I could try to fix what he had done, and my nail bed stung so badly because they had been filed raw and so harshly and my cuticles were cut to the point of bleeding. So at that point I decided to return to queen nails and ask for a refund...they did not treat me kindly and once I explained to them my service they got mean and defensive and immediately started speaking another language to each other from across the room. I was told to sit down and wait so they could soak off my nails. Ann told me that she refused to give me a refund unless she took my nails off. I refused because my nails hurt so immensely with even removing the polish at home, I couldn't imagine the pain of soaking in acetone! So I compromised and told them they could cut them off if they insisted. As I sat, lee my nail tech came over very defensive and mad and told me it was all my fault that my nails turned out so terribly because "he didn't do coffin nails". Which I never asked for. After being interrupted so many times and getting tired of being treated so poorly, I got up and I left with no refund, and hurting nail beds. I will be removing these nails as soon as the pain goes away and going to my usual nail tech. read more

Being in the medical field field, I have been paying for pedicures for over 20 years. As a travel nurse and as a permanent position, so alot of locations and states. Just moved to this area, and tried this location out due to the star ratings. The employee did the absolute worst service I have ever received. Her service was rough, sloppy, and painful. She cut my toe nails with gel on, which by the way is very painful since the nail is hardened with gel on and does not bend. She cut several to the quick. Then she proceeded to file them roughly and they were so short she was basically filing my skin, rather than nails. Her massage was patting my skin, barely rubbing no actual massaging and she was so lazy and uninterested in her job. She takes the very hot towel and literally throws it on my legs as she walked up to me. I have never had such care, I was absolutely floored. It was not busy, nor hectic, I had made an appointment and was on time. So I could not understand such poor service from a location with such good ratings. At this time I was completely done and disgusted. I asked her to wipe me down, declined the gel service that I booked. I paid and left without discussion, because I am not here to tell you how to do your job, the bar is set so low, there is no way to recover to a decent or acceptable level of service. read more

Took my daughter to get pedicures (her first one) first of all The guy who did mine broke my ankle bracelet just an apology no discount or anything on my nails also my daughter got a pedicure I was just going to get her regular nail polish. It they suggested gel and two days later 3 toes no longer have nail polish on them!! RIDICULOUS!!! They don't give refunds and I don't live in the area so when will I go back?! So I'm not one to complain much. It takes a lot to make me actually say something but I have to for people who don't like their fingers cut. The father, I believe, was the one who did my filling. He is super nice and is very attentive to his customers (which is why I gave them two stars. They are very nice people). However, I do not like it when my skin is rubbed off. He wasn't very careful and made me bleed twice(and he said "oh wow you have delicate fingers". No apologies.) Most of my cuticles were cut as well. Whenever I wash my hands I get reminded of the cuts on my cuticles. The nail Polish wasn't put on cleanly because he rushed to help other people who came in early for their appointment. Perhaps my fingers are super delicate and get cut easily, or maybe he just isn't careful. I sincerely don't like giving a so-so review unless it's called for and that is exactly what I need to do here. The owner of the salon seems very nice and definitely has her loyal customers, but it wasn't enough to make up for poor quality. The salon is very nicely appointed with around 4 nail stations and 4 pedicure stations (I think there were 4...). Nice decorations and ambiance, especially for Redding. It has the feel of a modern salon or day spa. First of all, the place was packed! Good news for the establishment, apparently bad news for customers who have an appointment. I made an appointment for both my mother and myself to celebrate my mother's birthday. They were 25 minutes late in starting us, but the owner did let us know, after about 10 minutes that they were running late. I give many kudos to people who communicate:) It always makes the process better. That's why there are three stars on this review. Secondly, I had a gel manicure, which I get approximately every 4 weeks from varying salons here in the Bay Area. This is one of the worst gel manicures I have ever had. The nail technician painted down to and included my cuticle, so that when it dried there was a ridge and the paint on the cuticle had to come off. Then this leaves an uneven line. That, combined with a little too much cuticle clean up means I will probably have to get my nails done in another week instead of the 4 weeks that I've been able to go thus far with a gel manicure. I would definitely return if someone else gave the manicure to give the place a second chance, but since I was just visiting my mom, I don't think that is going to happen. read more
