I'm pretty picky when it comes to my nails, but Queen Bee never disappoints me. This is a long overdue review because I've been coming here for so long. This place is huge, really nice and really clean. I've been told to come in the morning so I'd recommend coming earlier in the day because they get pretty packed after 4. So if this is the case, expect to wait a bit. I always come in for full sets, fills, and sometimes gel manicures and am always treated so well by everyone. I've gotten my gel manicures done by Kevin, Holly, and Linda and they're all so great. No matter who does my nails, they do a great job. Lisa usually takes care of my acrylics and I absolutely love her! She's so attentive to detail and always perfectly shapes my nails. Although this place gets really busy, she still manages to make my nails slay despite the rush that she's in. Gel manicures are $30, full sets are $35, and fills are $20-30 depending on what you get. After hearing my friend raving about this nail spot in Davis, as an acrylic/pedicure maniac, I made my appointment the next day. I called in for an appointment, and was told I could come in that same morning. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly ladies who also offered us water. The place seems clean and spacious; they have an entire back room for pedicures. I went in for a full-set regular acrylic while my friend got the gel acrylic. I was really impressed with the detail and time put into my service. Lisa, the person who did my nails did an amazing job. She created the perfect shape (coffin nails) from the picture I'd shown her. She was very friendly, and tended to your needs. My acrylics came out perfect, it was not too thick as some nail shops in Davis would do, which is best in my opinion. I also scratched the paint twice before it filling drying and she happily helped fixed it before I walked out. The only down side for my experience was that she had drilled out too much of my skin around the nail bed, and it was a little painful too. But other than that, this is THE spot for nail shop in Davis (I think most are mediocre in comparison). My friend was worked on by Sandy, and she too had a good experience. Go see Lisa! Queen Bee just opened last month and the shop is really nice and clean. There are so many color choices for getting gel manicures, and a lot of comfy massage chairs for getting pedicures. The place has a good atmosphere and they offer beverages (water, coffee, or tea) while you get your nails done. Also, it's in the Goodwill shopping center so there's plenty of parking. Even upon departure, I was provided a hand cleanser, and the door was opened for me as I exited. They definitely take walk-ins appointment, but this business can get really packed on Friday and the weekends. If you decide to walk in during the afternoon to evening on those busy days, you may have to wait longer than 30 minutes until you can be seated. The place itself is huge and well lit. At first, you will only see manicure table workstations, but if you are requesting a pedicure, they have another room in the back with at least 8 pedicure chairs. The color selection is extensive for both regular and gel nail colors. The nail technician I always see is Lisa. She listens to my concerns and always makes sure that I'm satisfied with the shape of my gel nails. With her, I'm comfortable with voicing any issues I have with my nails. I have also got a pedicure here, serviced by the same person, and left with my feet feeling butt soft. My friends have also raved about this nail salon when I mentioned it to them. I came in here for the first time because I wanted to try a new salon. However, I don't think I'll be coming back. I got a regular manicure, wasn't too expensive or anything which I'm glad about. The manicure was fine, nothing special.. he did an okay job, my nails needed one more coat, because the nail polish was a little thin, but he failed to recognize that; even though it was obvious. Towards the end, I noticed that there were some spots to clean up and I was thinking, he's probably going to clean up around the edges of my nails. He did not, and I just cleaned them up myself when I got home. My paint also started to chip within two days of getting the manicure, but that has never happened to me at this other salon, that I went to for a couple of years. Went here for the first time today to get gel nails done. The space was large and had a homey feel, I really enjoyed it. They also had a huge color selection which I really liked. My manicure was quick and painless, the lady who did my nails was very sweet and you could tell she took her job seriously. The gel manicure was only $25 which I think is a very reasonable price. Only downside is that the charge to use card was $1 (which I was not told about) and their atm machine was out of order. Their pedicure chairs are comfortable and always clean and working. The music and lighting is soft. They offer water and check-in with you to see if you're happy throughout the service. I visited this salon for the first time about a week ago and got a dip powder manicure on my natural nails. Initially, I was very satisfied with the quality of the nails, especially for the price of $35. Service was a little bit lacking and the man that did my polish was a bit rough at times. It only took two days for the polish to chip (even though the dip powder is supposed to pay a long time -- longer than gel). I went in and had it fixed. Within a week, the same nail chipped again along with two other finger nails. It's a bit of nuisance to pay for longer lasting polish but have it seemingly break faster than regular. Let me save you some time...DON'T GO HERE. I've gone to Queen Bee Nails Spa three times just to give them a fair shot and every time I come I'm more and more disappointed in the outcome of my nails. However, today was my tipping point because they were so UNNECESSARILY RUDE AND MY NAILS LOOK LIKE CRAP. When I walked inside I wanted to see the prices and the options they offered for manicures so I asked if I could see their pamphlets with that information since they don't have it posted. It seemed like such an issue for them to get up and hand me a pamphlet but they did. I personally hate when I get my nails thinned out too much because it hurts after a while so I asked them "Do you guys thin out the nails?" and they stared at me like I was stupid. I asked again if they thinned out the nail and they said "Yes we do acrylic" but that wasn't my question, so I asked another two times and I even had to look at the girl to my right "You know what I mean right?" because I don't know if I was asking a crazy question or what but she said "Yeah..." and proceeds to say the same thing I did and they just understood her -_- After they got my question I got the pamphlet to see what I wanted and this lady (Don't know her name but we're going to call her Rudey) kept asking me "What you want. What you want." I kept telling her I was still looking (I literally just got the pamphlet). I wanted FIBERGLASS. I did my research on fiberglass and know it's different than acrylic (look it up). When I told them I wanted fiberglass, again, they just looked at me like I had said something crazy (full set fiberglass was one of their options, it was right there on their pamphlet, I even pointed out to it because they looked at me like a I was dumb) but then they said "Okay". I went to the back to choose my closer and they kept telling me, "Get gel. Why you no get gel" and I told them I just didn't want gel today. I sat down and waited for them to call me up and I got Rudey, I told Rudey I wanted fiberglass and she proceeds to tell me that it's acrylic...you guys, IT'S NOT THE SAME. She proceeds to explain to me that people just call acrylic fiberglass sometimes and this and that. I didn't want to come off as rude and I would assume she wouldn't lie to me so I said "okay". I told them from the beginning that I didn't want gel polish, I just wanted regular nail polish and she kept pushing me to get gel (they tend to make the gel chunky and I just didn't want my nails chunky and also the colors don't come off nice sometimes). She gave me this face when I told her "no thank you", like that face of "okay whatever". Like lady, what's so wrong with me wanting regular nail polish, I'm sorry I don't want to pay an extra $10 for gel today. She cut all my nails and started thinning them out (didn't bother cleaning anything) and put on the fake nail tips. I started telling her "For the shape..." and SHE CUTS ME OFF saying "Later." She finishes putting on the powder and hands me off to another lady and when I go to the new lady I tell her "Can I get the coffin shape" and Rudey from the table behind her says "Why didn't you say that from the beginning?!" Like she was irritated, low key mad and as politely as I could I told her with a smile of disbelief "No, no, no. I did, but you cut me off" and she STARTED MUMBLING UNDER HER BREATH TALKING ALL MADS OF CRAP...lady what in the heck, what is your problem. The new lady got some nail clippers and started clipping the sides while Rudey kept talking crap and I just looked at her like...why are you being so rude. I never for one second was rude in any shape or form but from the beginning her and everyone else there were just nasty. Anyways, the new lady shaped my nails, which, by the way, NONE OF MY NAILS ARE EVEN. She didn't bother checking my nails from the opposite hand to make sure everything was even and nice and pretty, NOPE, uneven. When I had to put my hand on the fan so the nail polish dries some of it came off and the new lady was irritated that I messed up my nails. It wasn't my fault! She didn't even bother cleaning around my nails or inside my nails. There's still dust and dirt and chunks of who-knows-what in my nails. ONE OF MY NAILS IS ALREADY COMING OFF AND IT'S ONLY BEEN 3 HOURS! They thinned out my nails and it's still popping off, are you kidding me. DON'T COME HERE. Honestly, just don't. Save yourself and go somewhere in Sac if you can because the places in Davis just can't do nails well and it's insanely over priced for the quality of the work. I'm never coming back here again, for sure telling all my friends to not come here. Gosh it makes me so mad the lady was rude for no reason. read more

Been to a couple of nail places in Davis, but this one is by far the best one. Got a full set and shaped, for only $25. Usually places throw on that "extra $5 for shaping," but Lisa didn't. She worked diligently and my nails came out great! She would always ask how I liked them and if I wanted to change the shape or anything. Only problem was she kept going over my skin with her drill and it hurt, but she would apologize. Got a pedicure for $25 too! It came with a scrub and hot stone massage, too! I got a little cold when sitting in the chair, and Lisa, who wasn't even doing my nails anymore noticed and turned on the heater for me. Downside, my pedicurist cut my cuticle a little too deep, but only sprayed it with alcohol and continued cutting. I got acrylic and gel polish. They didn't look the best grown out, but they lasted! my daughter even got a mani with regular polish and it lasted with no chipping for a week (which is really long for a 6 year old). While I'm no Elle Woods, I've had enough mani/pedis to know we had a terrible experience. The Good: There was no wait, as it was 3 p.m. on a Thursday. The setting was peaceful enough with massage chairs and music. The actual applying of nail polish was great. The Bad: The calf "massage" and overall pedicure experience was meh. The UGLY: The woman who worked on my feet pulled my cuticle down and then off -- so much that I had to yelp (no pun intended) OUCH! It still hurts, five days later. After the fact, my mom told me that the man who worked on her feet had used a pumice stone so hard that she bled. My mom and I wanted pedicures and happened to be driving on East Eighth when we saw the sign for Queen Bee. I figured if a mani/pedi was $35 that just a pedicure wouldn't be too unreasonable. I got a pedicure and a full acrylic set on my hands. The pedicure was great, and even though I didn't get gel, the polish has lasted over two weeks.There were a few things I didn't like about the acrylics though. First thing was actually my fault - I haven't gotten acrylics in about 8 years, so I was unsure about the length. I was hesitant when she was shaping them and asked her to make them shorter. She barely clipped a little more off and then asked if it was okay. I felt like I was being a hassle asking them to be shortened more and more. She told me that I need to decide now because it's harder/she didn't want to have to fix the length later. In the end, they were definitely too long for me and I ended up having to clip and file them about a week later at home. Second thing, when my tips got glued on, the middle nail on my right hand didn't fit correct. The guy saw that it had popped up and separated before he was done gluing. Instead of finding a better fit, or fixing the glue, he just pushed/held it together while the glue finished drying. Within two days of leaving, that nail had separated and there was space between that mentally drove me crazy. I'll group the last two things together. While filing my nails, before applying the acrylic, the woman used the electric file to clip away my cuticles. I don't know if this is standard (like I said, I haven't gotten them done in 8 years), but three of my cuticles were bleeding and it hurt. Last, she spent a good time making the shape on my right hand, but when she got to my left, she sped through and they were leaning. I asked for a smooth, round shape. My left hand was round on one side of each nail and coffin shaped on the other side. And she was going to leave it. You have to wait a little to get a person to start your nails but after that they don't talk to each other as much each other and they are time efficient. I've stalled off getting a pedicure because of COVID but decided to go back to my favorite nail salon. What a wonderful experience and I felt totally safe. Mask are required and my temperature was checked the moment I entered the salon. I was then directed to hand sanitizer. The stations are already spaced far apart but they used only every other one. There was an acrylic shield between me and Sandy, my technician, and she was masked and wore a face shield. I'll certainly be back! read more
