This is probably one of my favorites places to go hangout , grab a beer (their selection of beers changes often) and just have a good time. The quartyard is very dog friendly. Most of the time there is some sort of event happening especially during the weekends. Tickets for these events are usually below $20 and at times they don't have a fee. Thanks to Quartyard for hosting the Yelp Spring Break Welcome Party. The weather was perfect for this outdoor setting. Complimentary beer and cocktails were served for the 'Yelp Event' and you were free to purchase the various foods from vendors: Burgers, pizza, tacos, sausages from S&M Sausage & Meats. Was really excited to try this place and finally stopped by. Asked for a beer list and the bartender pointed up at the wall toward some little barely legible boards with names written in chalk and said "they're up there" no info on the beers like abv, or a brief description. Needless to say I had no idea what to order because I'm only at our condo a few times a year and don't follow all the local SD breweries. Would have been nice to have a recommendation especially considering we were the only patrons sitting up at the bar. We moved over to a picnic table after deciding that would be our only round of drinks based on the poor service. My wife said the smell of dog pee was really strong so drank the beer quickly and moved on to another spot with much better service a few blocks away. read more

I've always driven past this place but have never stopped in until tonight. This outdoor, laid back, social scene is a nice change up instead of going to your average dive bar. Whether you want to start pregaming here or just have a mellow night downtown with some friends, this is a chill spot! Like that this venue is outside and would be cool to come, bring the dog and listen to some music, but for an adult only on the weekend just to hang, I wasn't impressed. My boyfriend told me about some beer garden that's completely designed using old shipping containers. You know, the ones you see when you go down to the ports. The ones that are loaded on the ships. Or, if you watched The Wire, the ones where the Russian mobsters stuffed the mail order hookers. This place is the embodiment of summer. Benches force communal sitting so you have to talk to people (imagine making conversation...gasp). In case you didn't figure it out, Quartyard is all outdoors. Which leads me to wonder what happens when it rains or when it drops below 60. Cuz anything below 60 in SoCal is like The Arctic. You can bring your dogs and your kids and your friends and drink good beer and have a good time. There were some food trucks and some food options so you can grab a bite if you're gonna stay awhile. They also have cocktails and wine if beer isn't your thing. The wine list is not extensive so be ready to settle in to whatever is offered. We also ordered a Mule and I didn't care for it too much. This place is similar to Container Park in Las Vegas, just on a smaller scale. We have popped in here with friends from time to time for drinks and food. They have their own food but also have a slew of local food trucks coming by. There is a massive stage where they put on concerts but I have not made it to one yet. Lately, my Wife and I have been coming here to take advantage of their dog park. Our two punks have a blast at the inclosed dog park. The park isn't too big but big enough for the dogs to get a few runs in. They use astro turf and is kept pretty clean. We also love to take advantage of being able to purchase beers and hang out with our pups. They have a good selection of local beers to pick from. If you live near the downtown area this is a great place to take your dogs out on a date while having some food and drinks. read more

Love Quartyard so much! My friends and I always seem to end up here when we're day drinking. Food - there are a few different food trucks. I'll be honest though I've only tried S&M (and it's sooooo good). I love that there are a few different options to try. And if it wasn't for my dang wedding diet, trust I'd have tried them ALLLLLL. Ambiance - this is such a cool idea and something that SD was definitely in need of. There are rows and rows of picnic tables. Everyone just sort of stakes out their little place in Quartyard and chills. There are games to play as well. There are a lot of dogs here so if you're a dog lover this is a great place to bring your dog or stalk/pet/bug other people's dogs (insert sarcasm - I'm not a creepy dog person). Oh and there's a dog park! Bar - I'm not a fancy beer gal so I can't speak to the quality of beer options. But from what I see and hear, sounds like there are some good options. There is also a full bar, so if you're like me and are not a beer snob, there's other options for you! Staff - everyone is super friendly and fast. The bar gets busy but these guys handle it like pros. Music - There's usually music playing in the background or there is a live band. Overall, I just love this place. It's located in the East Village in Downtown. So when you're done at Quartyard you can walk to another bar or restaurant - although you really don't need to as this place has everything you need. read more

Looking for a dog park? Quartyard. Wanna hear live music or see some DJs spin? Quart fucking yard. I've experienced Quartyard on many different occasions. During the day on a typical San Diego weekend, you got your good amount of people just trying to sip on some beers, play some Corn Hole, and just soak in the chill atmosphere that Quartyard exudes. Especially on a nice sunny SD day, I love chillin here with a beer in hand. At night when the venue doesn't have any events, this place really comes to life. I really like the lights above you, too. There's definitely a bigger crowd at night compared to the day hours, but I love when there's people; it definitely adds to the liveliness. I haven't actually tried S&M or any of the food trucks that are posted in Quartyard, but know that they do have options for you if you're feelin hungry! I've also been to Quartyard when they have DJs perform, and honestly, how sick that this place is capable of hosting big name DJs and performers?! Right in our backyard! I really love small, intimate venues, and Quartyard really does a great job in hosting these type of events for hundreds of people. It's always a good time at Quartyard. My first time hanging out at this place was for a car to go event. The courtyard is all outdoors but feels like you're inside a bit. There were a couple of food trucks serving food as well as sausage and meat open for service. The bar was also flowing and had plenty of bartenders and pretty much anything you want to drink from craft beers to liquors to special cocktail drinks. No wait was too long and it was a pretty fun atmosphere. There was a stage set up with superb sound. There was a live band playing the first set and a DJ following up the second set. Great party atmosphere and the overall great place to hang have a drink, bite to eat, player game or listen to music. read more

Quartyard is the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon in San Diego with your friends and your pup. There are plenty of options for food including S&M, O My! TACO, and food trucks. There is giant jenga and corn hole for those looking for something more active than soaking up the sun. The fenced in dog park is nice, but there are some dog owners that aren't so responsible. The bar has plenty of craft options on tap. Two of my favorites were there the day I visited - Societe's Harlot & 2 Town's Bright Cider. The bartenders can be a bit oblivious so it may take some time to get their attention even when the place is not that busy. Also to note, you can't bring booze in from outside; security will tell you to pour it out. Check the event calendar in advance, since sometimes there are concerts. The is mostly street parking nearby so bring plenty of quarters to feed your meter, unless you want to park at a structure a few blocks away. read more

Who would of thought that a bunch of shipping containers, some food trucks, picnic tables and a dog park would work so well together. Well, East Village has a ultra cool new hangout. And one less vacant lot. Sausage & Meat is the anchor food vendor. There's a cool bar and a coffee shop, with all three being served out of the shipping containers. I find myself buying a beer from S&M, as they usually have some great beers on tap. The picnic area is dog friendly, so bring your pooch. Parking is limited, so it's best to walk. Quartyard is an awesomely converted East Village space; really love the concept, especially in this part of SD. Though I missed the Grand Opening festivities last month, I came by recently for the Bikes & Beer post-route celebration. It didn't seem to look as big as I previously thought based on various marketing, but it after mentally removing all the extra tents and people, it accommodates a good, sizable crowd within different sections. Next to the stage, Sausage and Meat has set up shop here, there's a full bar, beer garden, dog park, and space for food trucks and pop-up business setups. With street parking and various lots nearby, it's a great place to hang out at in the neighborhood. Looking forward to future events! read more

First week being back in SD after not being here for 4 years, and boy a lot has changed!! I love urban parks, and Quartyard hits all the marks. Beer garden, lawn games, food trucks, fancy sausages, and a dog park?! It doesn't get any better for the four legged friends and their parents. It's a great space to hang out with friends and family and get a taste for what San Diego living is all about. You can have your pooch run around in the dog park while you sip a beer on the sidelines. Your furry friend is allowed in the dining area too! - well, assume you keep them under control.. First time at the Quartyard for the Thursday night Market! loved the hip new hangout spot in East Village! they recycle old shipping containers into a rad space to drink, eat, hang, and even host a dog park! String lights, scattered benches, and a stage fill the space. on the other side there is turf for the doggies to frolic and butt-smell. :) love that they're having local businesses be a part of the space once a month. The inaugural night was a hit and loved the selection of vendors. i heard its not nearly as packed on the usual so if crowds aren't your thing dont worry come during the day... or any other time there isnt a Thursday night Market haha you can find parking on the surrounding streets or pay for the lot on the space. read more

Ok so let preface this by I am kind of crazy obsessed with this venue/concept so this may be a long post, but I am going to try to hit all the main points without being too breathy. This venue is such an amazing concept!!! It's one of those things that is so simple that you could have thought of it yourself and then you start to beat yourself up for not thinking of it first. They converted an old open parking lot into this open air venue with food trucks, bars, a coffee shop and even a little art gallery. It's a great place to come with your friends, bring your dog, have a beer and enjoy the amazing San Diego sunshine. I'm not sure if they are going to be rotating what food trucks/trailers they have at the space, but currently they have sausage and meat (which is reason enough for you to come here) but also Rita's Italian ice which i LOVE. The east coast girl in me leaped in delight when I saw Rita's only a couple blocks from me in my neighborhood. I had my Easter Sunday service here. I've seen live bands play here. They sometimes have a dj playing. It's honestly an amazing venue and a great place to hang out. read more

They have a gated park for them to play and of course you can bring your dog along the open hangout area as you get a bite and grab a drink! Total Rip Off! Met a group out for a friends birthday my first time checking this place out. Ordered two martinis (yes, I know, dumb thing to order at a dirt lot bar)-but was charged $41 for two martinis-in plastic cups! I was a little dismayed so tipped $2 on the tip line of my credit card. Well they decided to make the tip $20 totaling $61! Clearly not an error from the $43 total on my credit card slip. Would never go back to this place. It's like a bar and a park (without grass) mixed into one. I was recently in Dallas and this place reminded me of a few spots we had gone to out there. It has a lot going on in a small space...but they make it work. Living downtown with a dog, Quartyard / city park is a godsend! I walk my dog to the dog park where she gets to play, and I get to have a beer or two in the process. It is only marginally less convenient than having a medium sized yard. ...which is countered by the constantly changing selection of beers! I have tried more different beers since going here than quiOnly downside is when Quartyard has the occasional event where I can't bring the dog in....then I walked a mile to not get a beer, and not let my dog run. There is the occasional irresponsible dog owner, but they seem to a: be few and far between, and b: get shunned/shamed out of the park OR c: learn what they are doing wrong and come back better. I wish there was a similar bar everywhere I have lived read more

This is a really cool spot! It kind of reminds me of Box'd which is a juice bar now in Carlsbad Village. I really hope this can make it, it kind of reminds me of what the public market wanted to be, I know this isn't a farmers market, but wouldn't a farmer's market here be cool? I'm sure there will be a farmer's market here at some point though. It's pretty cool that they have a bunch of food trucks here and S&M has good meats. I haven't tried meshuggah Shack yet. read more

Feels good to be able to walk around and drink outdoors. The two times that i've been to Quartyard were after 25 mile bike rides with my friends. They have a big bar made out of cargo containers with a good selection of local craft beers. The Hell or High was very refreshing after a long ride and the New English Zumbar was delicious with the pulled pork nachos that I ordered from the S&M there. Yup S&M has a restaurant on the property. You could get Nachos, Grilled Cheese Sandwiches or even Coney Dogs to go with the beer you're drinking. The whole place is outdoor, so feel free to walk around with your drinks or there is plenty of tables with seating under umbrellas if you prefer sitting. They have life size jenga and cornhole set up to play and live entertainment on a stage located in the south west corner. Pretty cool to have a place like this downtown.
